My family owns the Circle Bar Ranch here in Montana.

Dude ranching is a tradition.

You know, wranglers are everything at a dude ranch,

and they're what really represent

the whole cowboy lifestyle.

-As a wrangler, there's a lot of commitment.

-A typical day of a wrangler, wake up early,

go pushing the herd, saddle up a ton of horses.

do chores, do maintenance around the ranch.

-But the part, the cherry on top, is

when you get to get on the back of a horse.

And that's what kind of makes it all worth it.

-Hey, I know y'all are kind of

all over the place right now, but I just saw Russell pull up,

so we're gonna have that all-staff meeting

because Russell is just not the type of guy to just stop by.

and we got some sunshine today.

Russell, it's all yours.

-Well, as you probably painfully know,

we've lost our head wrangler. Now, I have a philosophy,

and I've been doing this a really long time, right?

We don't hire head wranglers.

I've never -- Not one time have I ever hired a head wrangler.

We make head wranglers.

-Head wrangler is somebody

who is in charge of all the other wranglers

and the corral as a whole.

So they give structure to the ranch in that department.

-Believe me,

they always emerge and they show their stripes.

-One of my goals is to ultimately own my own ranch.

And so starting from the bottom

at somebody else's as a head wrangler

could really give me the experience that I need

in order to do that.

-They're the ones who start first, finish last,

and they help their other wranglers,

and when they go to bed, they know they finished the day well.

-Yes, sir.

-That's what a head wrangler looks like.

-Russell not saying immediately, like, "Vern's head wrangler,"

it's frustrating

because I've been out there busting my butt until

after everyone's gone to bed kind of thing,

because things still need to get done.

-They don't have to be tall like Bob.

Good, 'cause I'm not.

I think it's a given that I should be head wrangler.

I put my blood, sweat, and tears in this ranch,

and I'm very confident in my knowledge and my skills.

And I know that I am qualified for this position.

-They don't have to be a man. They can be a woman.

-Vern does have a little bit of an edge over me.

You know, she's very by the book.

She's like the A student,

but I'm the teacher's favorite.

-These guys will be here to make that call.

Obviously, it's an important one.

Leading the charge is legend Bob Foster.

I'm so grateful that he's here as our general manager.

Bob is my eyes and ears here at Circle Bar.

-Now, we don't want you to do anything special, necessarily,

but we'll be watching, both Carleigh and I.

-And then there's Carleigh, and she's our staff manager.

She's there to help Bob take care of the details

with the guests and keep the staff lined up.

I grew up hunting and fishing and just loving outside.

So much so that I became a fly fishing guide

and horse trainer and wrangler.

-In our world, in the dude ranching world,

it is a revolving door.

People are constantly being hired, fired, quitting.

-The denim on denim is like a good look.

-There's a lot of pressure to keep the ranch staffed up.

So in order to keep Circle Bar running,

I have to make sure that my staff is safe and happy.

-I lived in Wyoming for a couple of years.

-I don't think I've ever met anyone from Wisconsin.

I think I have a speech impediment.

I've had so many concussions.

Like, it's not even funny. I get in my own head.

I'd, like, stutter a little bit.

So, yeah, I guess that would be considered a speech impediment.

You know, I grew up around horses every day.

I'm very handy. I can fix anything on the ranch.

I'm a jack of all trades, but a master of none.

But if I was a master of one, it'd be a horse.

I'm not your typical stoic cowboy.

I like to have a good time.

I feel like that's a kind of like a rule of thumb.

Usually when a cowboy lets a woman wear his hat,

They seem like really cool people.

But we have new guests arriving today,

so we have to make sure we're all on top of our game.

Because our top priority is making sure our guests have

a good experience.

-Rusty, Tucson, Wilson, Chimi, and Bravo

-We have new guests every single week.

So every single week we have one giant turnover.

So it's important that we're ready

for our next set of guests,

that the wranglers are prepped

and they've helped clean all the rooms.

So it's not just like making sure

that we're ready for guests,

but making sure that the ranch is ready for guests.

I sure hate scooping

-I'm nervous about working with wranglers that I don't know

because I was diagnosed with Tourette's when I was nine.

So if anybody ever sees me make a funny face at them, like,

hopefully they know that I'm not upset at them or something.

You guys are very ready to be here. I love it.

Usually what we'll do is we'll just kind of give you,

like, a general tour.

We'll kind of just walk around.

This week, we have three generations

of women coming from Florida.

Really, they're just coming to have a good time.

So we have a lot of really fun things planned for them.

We have trail rides, a barn dance,

and anything else they ask us for.

-What kind of rug is that?

-Oh, it's a black bear rug. -A bear rug?

-There is a bear rug. -Oh, my gosh.

-With a head on it? -It's got a head on it.

-And a tail. Oh, look how cute.

It has claws on it. I'd paint those claws red.

-Is it soft? -She's gonna pet it.

-Is his tongue in there? -Look.

-Oh, his tongue is still in there.

-Wouldn't it be weird if it wasn't?

Like if it had no eyes and no teeth.

-We've seen a bear -- a real live bear rug.

As long as we don't see a real live bear.

As long as this is as alive as it gets, we'll be good.

-So your family, all your family lives in Georgia?

-Yeah. Half in Georgia, half in Miami.

-Ah, Miami. -Yeah. And then some

in Kentucky.

That's where the horses come from.

My mom's from Kentucky. My dad's from Cuba.

I got a little bit of a countryside,

and I got a little bit of a Hispanic side.

So when they come together, something magical happens.

And it's called the crazy Cuban redneck.

-Close to your family? -Yeah.

Like, I'm super close with my whole family pretty much.

My parents split when I was a kid,

I was like 4 or 5, and then my mom remarried.

What about you? -Dad's a pastor.

-No way. Word. -Yeah, yeah.

-Carson's really trying to make me feel at home here.

And I really appreciate that.

He's really great.

And it seems like we have a lot in common.

And, you know, I'm not oblivious to the fact

that he's good-looking and single,

but, you know, I'm here to do my job and just have a great time.

I was baptized in the river that I guide on,

and every time I take clients out there,

I just feel, like, the presence of God.

-Yeah, there's no way.

-It's an incredible feeling to,

like, be such a small little speck.

-I deserve to be head wrangler.

I've worked a lot of ranches around the country,

and I know I'm ready.

Goodness gracious, this is a mess.

I think that I make a really good leader,

and there's a lot of reasons

that I want to be a head wrangler.

-I think, like, I'm capable and, you know --

-You're very much capable.

Everybody loves you. So, I mean...

-I need to move up in my life.

One day I want to own my own ranch.

is I want my team in my hands to be some of the best,

most efficient,

most knowledgeable workers in the dude ranch industry.

And I want this guest ranch to be one of the top,

if not the top dude ranch to visit.

I feel it's pretty disrespectful to teach a cowboy

Like she wants things a certain way.

I totally get she wants to be head wrangler,

but I just feel like there's a certain way to go about,

like, dealing with people and talking to people.

can be tied before you tie them.

As a wrangler,

one of the things that really makes me smile

is seeing people on a horse for the first time.

It's a scary thing. It can be really intimidating.

And watching someone overcome those fears

and halfway into the ride, they can't stop smiling,

like, that truly makes my heart happy.

It really does.

And it reminds me of why I love being a wrangler

and doing this type of work.

I wasn't always a cowboy.

I joined the Navy when I was 17,

and I was in for a little over four years,

and I got medically discharged.

I started riding horses when I was seven.

A friend of mine who cowboys in Texas was like,

"Hey, come work on our ranch."

And it was actually one of the best decisions

I ever made in my life.

You excited? -Very excited.

Then we see Hunter just casually walking up

with him and Emma Grace.

He's on foot. He's just walking her in.

She is on the horse that he went out on.

So I said, "Hey, is everything okay?

Is everybody all right? What happened?"

-We were going, and Otter, like, pretty much blew up on her.

And so I finally got him to stop.

And, like, we got off the horse to switch horses.

I was going to ride him. And I was just holding him by a rein,

and he justripped out and he rips the rein out of my hand.

-Oh, okay. -Just took off.

-All I heard was horse loose. I'm thinking saddle --

I'm thinking saddle, rope, go.

You know what I mean? -I'm gonna go back.

your leadership characteristics will come out.

But it's the total you.

We're still trying to get to know you

and what you bring to the table.

We bought a farm when I was about nine,

and I fell in love with horses.

And that has kind of been my entire life, ever since.

It's always been a dream of mine to ride on a ranch in Montana,

in the mountains.

And when this opportunity came up,
