but first I have to get your reaction to

that wailing banshees mission.

Diane, you were saying, weren't you - we were just practising -

that you could do the wailing.

I was saying that, but actually I wasn't.

That's an absolute lie.

Paul was a Traitor and continues to be a Traitor.

He was demonstrating the banshee noise. She was doing it.

So go for it.

It was something like that, wasn't it?

Were you one of the banshees, Paul?

No, I wasn't, Ed.

Oh, you think I was? Well, you know...

There's a bit of...

You know, there's a bit of talk of

maybe I was involved in The Traitors at some point.

One of them had a little bit of swagger,

had some nice trainers on.

And I was thinking, "Hold on a minute, I recognise that!"

He had corduroys on.

Which banshee had nice trainers on?

I don't... I think...

Look, this is a show with very high production values.

I don't think they'd let Nikes slip through on a Banshee.

No, definitely not.

The one thing about the mission was, it just emphasises again,

that all the celebrities that have lined up for this show

are so invested, because they were really going for it. Absolutely.

Which makes it even better. It does.

And, you know, you would expect maybe some of the celebrities wouldn't be

up for dunking their heads under the water... They were all there.

Or screaming down a well. I know. Yeah.

We can't talk about the banshee mission

without hearing what Celia's first thought was.

Well, you know what you do in a well, don't you?

What? Put the pussy in.

Exactly what we were all thinking, Celia.

I think I speak for everyone when I agree with you there.

Can we have a small explanation?

It's one of those nursery rhymes.

Well, come on, it's what we were all thinking.

Might as well say it.

I'm not sure that was my first thought.

I mean, she put in quite a shift across the whole mission.

The skill of projection is very important.

It's a lot to do with breathing,

a lot to do with annunciation, I guess.

Who was your favourite celebrity to dunk their head under the water?

The Stephen Fry one was very good for the reason of him

kind of almost storming away going,

"You're a grown man! What are you doing?"

It still kind of catches me off guard

when I see him on-screen. Yeah, I think Stephen Fry...

Like, that's Stephen Fry!

Like, this is incredible.

It was Claudia's face when

Stephen Fry was dunking his head under the water, going,

"Stephen Fry's dunking his head!"

Let's talk gameplay now,

because there was some very different approaches to the shields.

So, Cat got a shield, took the shield.

She was first there. She took the shield.

"I'm having that.

"Let's not tell anyone else in the other group about the shield." Yeah.

Jonathan found the one in the watering can

and just immediately just offered it to Stephen.

It's a risk, innit? So, do you think that's a risk?

Is that something that you would have done, Paul?

Jonathan's doing that thing where, like,

I imagine, like, for people watching him,

he looks so obvious, but he's so compelling at the round table

that he can kind of do the slopy shoulders thing.

And I imagine when people watched me in season two,

they were doing the same.

Like, it's so obviously this person.

Yeah. And people would name me at the round table,

but then they would just throw it all away.

Yeah. But I do think that kind of, like, nonchalant,

"Well, you can just have it",

it's kind of like a subconscious move.

But I think he's so smart and he's so good at kind of battling people

at the Round Table, it almost doesn't really matter.

I think Jonathan's been quite smart sometimes,

though, because when his name does get brought up -

I think Celia brought his name up to him,

said, "I think I'm suspicious of you" -

he'll say things like, "Well, we've got to investigate that."

Yeah, you're right. Yeah.

But a lot of them mentioned his name on the last episode,

but they then didn't vote for him.

So I don't understand that.

It seems to take them a while for a theory to warm up

to the extent that they're willing to put it into practice. Yeah.

Because I think they're all so worried about getting it wrong,

which makes it so much harder.

Except for Joe Marler.

Joe's not. He's intelligent and he's very funny.

Yes, he is. He is funny.

But then his theory is very good about the king of...

The big dogs. Yeah, the big guys, Stephen against Jonathan.

He's nailed it, so let's stay on that.

But they're not pushing for that. I know, I know. It's great.

Now, just before we hear from Ruth,

I need quick thoughts on that cliff-hanger.

We don't know who's going to be murdered,

but the banshee is coming for someone,

and it's one of Kate Garraway,

Charlotte Church or David Olusoga.

I think David, because he's the quietest of the group.

I think Kate could help stir the pot a little bit,

but she can also bring loads of attention onto herself.

Who's the other one? Oh, Charlotte Church is the other one.

Charlotte Church has been getting some heat as well.

If people are getting heat, you leave them in there.

And sometimes the ones that aren't getting heat

and aren't really contributing...

Yeah. I think Kate's more of a danger out of the three of them

because she asks a lot of questions. Yeah, true.

Charlotte's not got anything correct yet.

Well, whoever it is, I'll be chatting to them

on the next episode of Uncloaked.

it's time to hear from our next Murdered player,

Ruth Codd.

She's joining us very soon. But first I caught up with her

in Scotland straight after she was murdered,

to get her first reactions and reveal who the Traitors were.

Thank you so much. Thank you very much for coming.

Take a seat, please.

It's very nice to see you,

and thank you for coming on the show.

But sad to see you leave the game so early.

How are you feeling, now that you're out?

Delighted. I have a 15-year-old dog at home.

She hasn't much time left, so I kind of needed to get back.

You know what I mean?

So, the dog's on the clock.

You're thinking that during your time in the castle?

Yeah. Big time, yeah.

Someone's looking after her, though, right?

No, I just left her home alone.

She can look after herself.

So you were so confident that you'd be out at this point,

you just thought, "She's not due a feed.

"I'll be back before episode five."

Yeah, that was the plan all along.

It's all right. I left the back door open.

You know, I had a plethora of tactics going in,

and it all went tits up the second I got in there.

I thought I'd play it quiet,

and then kind of coast my way through,

you know, and not get too mouthy.

But again, it's me...

Round Table number two,

just running my mouth off left, right and centre.

I think whenever I speak to people who played the game,

it's always the people who say,

"I'm going to go in and change my personality."

And then, within two Round Tables,

it's like, "There's no point doing that."

You've got to be yourself, right?

I fear a lot of them in there think we're at summer camp.

You're not going to figure it out that way, if you know what I mean.

If people aren't being open and honest about their theories.

Because there was a couple of things people said around the table

and you'd be like, "Oh, yeah."

And then things start to click together in your head.

Yeah. So if people did more of that, then it might have been

a more successful first couple of Round Tables.

Well, they're definitely not going to now.

Muggins over here.

They'd be like, "Oh, Ruth told us all to speak up.

"Also, she got murdered."

Yeah. Yeah, that's a very good point.

You were the one who spoke up, and that was...

That was the end of you.

I literally knew last night.

I was like, I'm either going to get recruited or murdered.

And was that because you spoke up?

You thought, "That's me marked out now"? Yeah.

And I kind of knew,

to be honest, when I was speaking up, that...

In my head it was like, "Ruth, stop talking."

So you said after that Round Table

that you thought there might be a target on your back.

Oh, I absolutely knew it. I went,

I'm pretty sure Jonathan was going around moving and shaking,

like, making sure everyone knows, you know,

he wasn't telling porky pies. Right.

Why don't you tell me, first of all,

who do you suspect of being a Traitor?

Well, suspect number one is Jonathan, obviously. Yes.

Suspect number two...

Kate.

And suspect number three -

I kind of just have this gut feeling that it might be Celia,

just because she's so chaotic.

So it's the chaos of Celia that makes you suspicious?

Yeah, but also I wouldn't...

I don't think I would ever have voted for her at the Round Table

just because she's so entertaining to have around.

What about your definite Faithfuls?

Definite Faithfuls?

Is there any definites in this game, really?

Well, who did you trust the most?

Well, obviously I trusted Clare the most.

I swear to God, if she's a Traitor, I'm never...

I'm never going to be able to trust.

My career is based off of instincts in acting.

I'm going to have to go back to being a barber.

I'm going to have to open a hairdresser's...

if Clare Balding is a Traitor.

People were kind of accusing Cat, but I think Cat's a Faithful.

I mean, if Lucy is a Traitor, give that woman a BAFTA immediately.

I think it's time.

Ruth, welcome to Uncloaked.

We should ask you straight away, how's the dog?

Was the dog OK when you got back?

And did the burglars take much, as you left the back door open?

No, no, that's the thing. The back door closed

and she couldn't get to her water bowl.

Right. That happens.

Obviously I am joking.

Betty is alive and well.

She's all right. My mammy is looking after her.

Now, let's talk about your two Round Tables.

In that first Round Table, you voted for Kate.

Why were you so suspicious of her?

Well, you're just really pissing in the wind

the first Round Table, aren't you?

Yeah. So, not a lot to go off.

I hadn't at that stage done any... I hadn't done the challenge

where they chained us all up in the little hut yet.

So I really didn't know at that point

that she was so... Loud.

Theatrical and over-the-top and loud.

I kind of just thought that was a...

That was an act. But it turns out it wasn't.

It was just Kate.

I wouldn't be hard on yourself,

I think plenty make mistakes like that.

When you're in there, it's a different planet, isn't it?

Yeah, well, I was at a disadvantage as well,

because I've only been in the industry a wet week.

And apart from Niko, I didn't know, really...

And Clare Balding, obviously. Yeah, yeah.

I didn't really know anyone or had ever met them,

you know, at events and whatnot, so...

I had nothing to go off of at all.

I think it's incredibly bold at the second Round Table

to go after someone, and it proved right.

You were going after Jonathan,

and we're all sat at home absolutely punching the air, going,

"Yes! She's actually doing it."

How did it feel going toe-to-toe with him

at that second Round Table?

It was scary because I knew

nobody really in there knows who I am,

and everyone knows who he is.

So I knew I probably wasn't going to get that much backup.

And I was, like, on a scale of one to ten,

how much of a Jonathan-shaped hill are we willing to die on here?

And it turns out it was a ten!

It was a big fat ten.

Let's see a little clip of you and Jonathan

going at each other on the Round Table.

One of the first things you did

was make an alliance with Niko and me and Clare in the car.

You said it in the car. Did he? Mm-hm.

What did I say? Yeah, yeah, you said, "We're an alliance."

I did not say we were an alliance. Yes, you did!

We're an alliance?!

Yes, you did. Yes. Guys, I swear I have not said the words, "We're..."

You did. No.

OK, I'm not going to say... I'm saying you've misremembered.

I have not said to anyone, "I'm in an alliance."

I've said to people, "I totally believe you're faithful",

I've said to people, "I'm not voting for you."

I have not said to anyone, "We're in an alliance."

I did not say that.

Wow! Right, well, let's settle it once and for all.

Let's wind the tape back.

Did Jonathan say... OK, settle it, then, Ed.

Go on. Did Jonathan say you were in an alliance?

Let's have a look.

NIKO: So, we've got now a one in 13 chance of death.

If you form alliances with people,

that might swing it in your favour.

CLARE: Yeah.

Some people know each other already.

I don't know anyone. NIKO: We're in trouble.

CLARE: No, you're not.

And you've got two older allies here already.

Exactly.

So I think maybe from Jonathan's perspective,

he'd created a very loose alliance.

Maybe he was just throwing that word around in quite a general way.

The sentiment of what he said remains the same.

He lured Niko into a false sense of security.

He created an alliance

and blindsided him at the Round Table.

Doesn't matter, though.

You stood up for your convictions, so that's what's important.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

You know, better to be dead and right, I suppose.

Exactly. Yeah.

That's the old phrase, isn't it?

Why do you think Alan Carr's getting away with it?

Why are people not realising that he is a Traitor?

Well, Clare did.

It's just that thing of, like, I look back,

I look back on episode one, he's sweating so much.

Yes, yeah, yeah. I know.

I just... Because I didn't know him, I just...

He said, "Oh, I have a sweating problem,"

and I just believed him.

But just because he's so unserious, I suppose.

Yeah. Yeah.

None of us... None of us thought, apart from Clare...

Took him seriously. Yeah.

But his sweat problem's disappeared, though, hasn't it?

Like, the sweat problem... He's mopped up.

He's mopped up. He's definitely mopped up. Yeah.

I don't know whether it's tissue under the armpits or what...

Growing into the role. But it's now gone.

Ruth, you also had a brilliant turn of phrase in the castle.

Some very funny, very withering put-downs.

It'd be pretty terrible going on

an all-inclusive to the Traitors castle,

and then you don't even get a croissant out of it.

When they were wheeling me down to get my leg chopped off...

would you rather that you were a Traitor or a Faithful?

Oh, I'm so glad I wasn't picked as a Traitor.

Why? I've just...

That show has made me realise

I'm strong-willed and I'm smart, I think.

Um... And I have my own mind,

which I kind of knew going into the show,

but I'm not as kind of savage as I thought.

And I'm not ruthless.

I agree with you. Yeah. I always want to be Faithful.

Ruth, we're going to chat more on our

what was your reaction to watching the Faithful banish Clare?

Um, it was absolutely infuriating.

It was the same thing as what happened to Niko.

It was just everyone jumping on the bandwagon,

which...

Watching fully-grown adults

who have established careers,

was just fascinating.

Herd mentality. Yeah, I agree with you. Sheep.

Well, yeah, absolutely. It really was a shock

for all of us to see Clare fall at the latest Round Table,

but she and I got to sit down for a chat straight after her castle exit.

And of course, I revealed to Clare just who those pesky Traitors are.

You're very welcome. I wish it was

under different circumstances, though. Yeah.

We're very sad to see you...

see you banished. But you're happy with your exit?

Well, I did, at least, I think, exit quite dramatically.

And from the sounds I heard behind me,

it caused quite a stir.

That's what you want to hear as you leave, isn't it?

You don't want to hear pure silence.

No. You want to hear Stephen Fry and Celia Imrie swearing.

We all want to hear that at all times, I think. Always.

But, yeah. Always. And it was funny cos I think, as I stood there,

I think so many...

Well, obviously the Faithfuls that have voted for me

absolutely thought I was a Traitor. Mm-hm.

And I regret not making a better argument for myself.

I... It's an interesting thing.

I found the whole experience so fascinating,

and I knew it would be a way of seeing groupthink in action,

but when it's suddenly turned on you, there really is...

You are... You panic because you think,

"I don't know what to do here,"

and it's so much easier to attack than it is to defend,

which I think is why so many politicians do that.

They don't bother. Do you know what I mean?

It is really hard to say, "No. I promise you, I'm Faithful.

"I can't give you a million reasons why. You just need to trust me."

Of course. Actually, it's much better to go on an angle and say,

"But I'll tell you why."

And the thing I really regret,

because I didn't think of it in the moment,

was the night that...

So only the night before,

the Round Table when Tameka was voted off,

only four people voted for her.

Of those four people, one of those has to be,

if not two of them, have to be a Traitor.

So we'd narrowed it down then.

Yeah. Even if they were doing clever voting,

I still think it was too risky for one of them not to.

Let's talk about your suspicions for a bit, Clare,

because I know you've brought the notebook with you.

I have, and I'm not sure.

OK, so the notebook has on the front of it,

"Times I was right and nobody listened,"

because I was slightly starting to feel,

and I'll make this reference because Stephen will appreciate it,

I was slightly starting to feel like Cassandra,

who, in Greek mythology,

is condemned by Apollo to constantly speak the truth

and prophesise doom, but nobody will listen.

And I was feeling very much like Cassandra,

but it is also my own fault

because I then suddenly decided to play a strategy,

I didn't say anything about Charlotte until it was too late.

Yes. And I still may be wrong. Mm-hm.

And as I say, half of me hopes I'm wrong,

and half of me really hopes I'm right, cos...

You win either way or you lose either way.

Well, exactly. I know. So, um...

Oh, I've put, "Had a very nice steak and slept well."

That was...

I did put a lot in here. Anyway.

It's more of a diary, isn't it? It's more of a diary.

But I...

I just note some things that people did

and how people voted.

And Joe Marler being very funny. For example,

first night, first Round Table. I suspect -

Kate, Niko, Tom, Jonathan.

Right. Well, I know Niko's wrong, and I know Tom's wrong.

I think Kate is wrong. Jonathan, I'm still not sure.

I've also written underlined, "I'm an idiot."

Yes, this... This is after I got banished.

"Became very clear I was going to get voted off. BANISHED."

In-in-in capital letters.

Can I just say, it's fascinating you carried on making the notes

after you were out of the game.

I've been...

I've been writing messages to myself of what I've learned from it.

Anyway, I've written also,

"Danger of underestimating people and indeed overestimating others."

I think one of the Traitors

is underplaying their intelligence hugely.

And who do you think that is?

Joe Wilkinson.

And I think we are in danger of overestimating...

I'm speaking as if I'm still in there,

which obviously, sadly for me, I'm not.

But we're in danger of overestimating

Stephen's "father of the house" status. OK.

And I think he'll think that now, too,

unless he's a Traitor, in which case it's working.

Now, this is a very exciting moment.

I don't know if you're excited about this or you're dreading it.

You're going to find out who the Traitors actually are.

Oh, I'm massively excited. Listen, I can't wait to know.

Good. Before I do reveal it to you,

I do want to know, who are your biggest suspects?

Who are your headline Traitors?

Well, obviously, I said Charlotte and voted for Charlotte.

I really hope I'm wrong on that.

And I sort of wish I didn't...

I wish I hadn't done that.

Although I was suspicious of her, I wish I hadn't done that.

I wish I'd gone for Joe Wilkinson, actually,

so I would be super suspicious of Joe Wilkinson,

I think he's playing a really super clever game.

Well, and Alan, I voted for. Yes.

Alan on the Paloma Theory. Yeah.

Which I shall continue to call it for the rest of my life -

the Paloma Theory.

My confirmed Faithfuls,

I think, are Nick.

I think Lucy is a confirmed Faithful.

I think Kate is, actually,

even though I suspected her very early on,

on the basis of body language,

which I now know means nothing.

So this is really on what people say at Round Table and how they vote.

Celia, I think, is 100% Faithful.

I'm, you know, as Joe Marler would say, "She's a hundy."

I think Joe is a Faithful as well.

Let's find out.

I feel a bit sick. My heart isn't racing quite as much

as it was at Round Table, but I actually feel a bit sick.

It's a big... It's a big moment.

Jonathan. Jonathan.

I should have stuck on Jonathan.

Damn it! That... Honestly, that makes me cross,

because I so nearly last night went on a big one on Jonathan.

Oh!

Cat. Oh, that's funny.

Do you think Cat's doing a good job?

Cat's doing an amazing job.

Cos she hasn't really been brought up that much, you know? No.

The fact that you mentioned her name so much, I was...

No, but Celia did.

Alan. Damn it!

I was right, and nobody listened!

You weren't far off the mark at all.

And certainly watching it, the Alan-Paloma Theory,

I was willing you to follow it more at the Round Table.

I'm most annoyed about Jonathan,

because I think if Charlotte and I had trusted each other,

we'd have got him. Yeah.

Well, there we are. Oh...

I mean, you could feel the intensity coming through the screen there.

Oh, my God. Clare wanted to find those Traitors.

She's very competitive, isn't she? She made notes. Yeah.

She's like a hard-boiled detective.

She was, like, really into it. Amazing. She's made notes.

Yeah. Incredible. And she had such a long list of confirmed Faithfuls

that were all correct. Yeah. So maybe that is the way

she should have gone about it

is ticking off everyone that she knew... Faithful.

Definitely. Yeah, and not a lot of people do that, I guess,

looking at that strategy, to go,

"Well, these are the people that I'm almost convinced are,"

because I think everyone that's done that so far,

they've pretty much been on the money. Yeah.

They've kind of got it right.

The detailed notes are an incredible thing to learn about that.

Going... going back to her room every night in her individual lodgings,

writing her detailed notes.

Paul, just remind us again what you were doing every night.

I was reading American Psycho. Yes.

And going, "This Patrick guy has really got something."

He's got some good ideas. But I was also writing scripts.

I'd talk about, um, what arguments are going to happen tomorrow.

So like, tomorrow, if this happens and this is the way it will go,

I will say this and I will say that.

Wow-wee.

I was doing full argumentative scripts, thinking,

"He will then pick me up on that,

"but I'll say this and direct it this way."

Paul, with all due respect, you should be in prison.

Yeah, I probably should be, shouldn't I?

I think that we've lost a potential superstar Traitor hunter in Clare...

Yeah, 100%...because she was right about Alan,

starting to have some suspicions about Jonathan as well. Yeah.

Yeah. No... She felt like nobody was listening to her.

I think people would have eventually listened to her. Yeah.

A little bit like Jazatha Christie.

Yeah. Of course. I made that... Yeah, I'd drawn the same comparison.

Uh, we do need a detective name for Clare, though.
