That's how he came up with this introductory scene.

Ah yes, the sword fighting scene where Teppei's father used the soba sticks.

So that's a soba restaurant, huh?

If I may, here's something I heard about this part.

Additionally, after the video for Ep.1 was assembled, the music was created.

Normally, composers work off a "music menu" for TV anime.

The music and the animation are created separately.

So, then what?

Usually, the music can only be matched to the animation

when there is plenty of time and money involved, like with a movie.

But even with certain limitations in mind,

the first episode was considered important in this series,

so the music was made to fit it.

I guess you'd have to put a lot of drawings together to make that carriage and car chase scene.

What's wrong, Seika-san? Did we offend you somehow?

I wasn't in the first episode, so I'm feeling left out.

The director and the screenwriter agonized over that.

But in the end, they went with the Episode 1 you see here.

It was equally surprising to new and old Princess Lover fans alike.

Which was exactly what they intended.

But there were a lot of people online

who expected a moe anime and got action instead.

So in a way, you could say that the staff succeeded.

Ah, this is the so-called "Hot Springs Party."

In the original game, this was an important point where Arima-sama chooses

the heroine he wants to be with.

But for the TV series, they decided to go all-out with the gags.

When the staff considered what would bring the best results,

they thought "The hot springs"?

So they went with the hot springs.

So that's how it was...

You could say that once you've seen one hot spring, you've seen them all.

But I really enjoyed them~!

We played table tennis, too.

They'd decided that things would get serious from Episode 7 onward,

so the staff crammed in all the fanservice they could.

Yeah, they sure did a lot in this episode.

They certainly did.

They did as much as they wanted to.

However, if no one was entertained by this episode,

the director and the screenwriter

were prepared to give up on doing gags for the rest of the series.

By the way, the original creator, Ricotta,

checked over all the scripts carefully.

And apparently, the "Magical Knight Maria-chan" thing was their idea.

Indeed. Originally, it was scripted as a standard Magical Girl anime,

but Ricotta decided to design things that way on a "because we can" basis.

This person is Josephine, an anime-original character.

Apparently the scriptwriters had decided on her full name from the very beginning.

They envisioned various characteristics for her,

like secretly being George II's great-granddaughter.

What're you talking about, Yuu-san?!

It seems the 5th Squad adored her.

Say what?

They were brave enough to put her full name in the captions, because they really loved her.

Just curious, why was that?

They really loved her.

By this point, the series had nothing to do with the source material.

No, really?

Honestly.

Not that it matters,

but the guy who disappeared beneath the surface of the Earth in Episode 6

was named Yamashita.

Yeah, he was in the Society Club. What about him?

Take a gooood look at the last episode.

Behold! Yamashita's there, with a girlfriend!

For the sake of being the comedic relief for this series,

I, Nezu Haruhiko, put my body through all kinds of abuse.

So why'd this Yamashita guy luck out?!

This is the first time I've ever heard Nezu-kun not say "nyoge."

Also, in the previous Picture Drama,

we were talking about doing a soba party for the last episode.

What's a soba party like?

You eat flowing soumen, right?

This is for the soba version.

You catch flowing soba, and eat it.

But some people fail to catch it,

and knock the bamboo chute loose.

The heroines get all wet, and their clothes become see-through...

If only I had a little more length, I could've done that...

...I'm talking about soba here.
