Till now,

Swami has millions of devotees.

But sometimes in life on a few occasions,

only a few chosen ones

He will invite specifically to the front row to receive His Grace.

Because you have seen Him,

not only with your eyes.

He has seen, you have felt His presence even in your hearts.

This is the height of serenity.

In that sacred summit of tranquillity

you will share your story.

Swami is ready to hear every single word.

Is He God Almighty or a mere human in reality?

Is He a secret to savour? Or a miracle-saviour?

In that sacred solitude with tears that welled in your eyes.

His divine image you witnessed.

Your dreams that came true.

You will share a slice of you, your extra-ordinary experiences,

when you share your personal experiences.

These are stories He has written through your hearts and minds.

Bear this in mind when you speak.

You are not sharing your story alone,

but narrating His story as History for posterity.

You share a unique factor among you and your five families.

There are countless stories worldwide

of divine miracles experienced by people.

It is your turn to share now.

Heart to heart from the bottom of your soul.

Swami's heart is waiting to listen.

Vardhan sir?

Sai Ram.

Salutations to Sai.

I'm Vardhan.

Businessman from Mumbai.

When I first met Baba in Puttaparthi,

I didn't come as His devotee.

At that time, my focus was only on business and earning money.

I once went to Bengaluru on a business trip.

My destination was Bengaluru.

But my cab driver took a wrong U-turn.

I lost my way and reached Puttaparthi.

My minute-to-minute schedules,

Swami changed in mere seconds.

When I first stepped into Swami's temple,

I saw a never ending wave of devotees.

But what astonished me

among all the devotees

was the serene silence.

The aroma of incense filled the air.

In the midst of that fragrance,

a scene framed before my eyes.

Within me,

was a continuous noise of thoughts like an ATM machine

that stopped altogether at once in total silence.

Into that spiritual silence

Swami walked in front of my eyes.

Clad in a saffron robe,

a face glowing with radiance.

He's just a normal person...

I thought to myself.

My silly thought

suddenly halted as if He had heard the voices in my head.

He came and stood in front of me

as if He knew me for many years.

He looked into my eyes.

One of His disciples standing near him came up to me.

He gave me a packet of holy ash and a card.

I saw a hand-written sentence by Baba on it.

Gain that doesn't provide mental peace

is not profit at all.

I was shocked to read it.

I was getting trapped earning money and thereby losing my peace of mind.

I felt it intensely that day.

But this feeling locked in my heart,

I hadn't shared it with a single soul.

How did Swami know my inner feeling?

How did He say it as if He read my mind?

I was alone that night.

Swami's direct gaze at me.

My mind was thrown off balance totally.

I realized at that moment in time

I was lacking something precious in life.

That void cannot be filled with money.

I needed something beyond that.

And that was

Swami's blessing.

After that I frequented Puttaparthi

to seek the answer to my question.

To realise who I really am.

To find peace of mind.

I finally realised

I didn't lose my way and end up in Puttaparthi.

Swami changed my path and brought me here.

He invited me to His sacred shrine with His true affection.

I am not such an ardent devotee at all.

I have everything,

a status, bank balance, business class.

If I ignore all these trivialities totally

and sit peacefully.

I believe Swami's voice will hum as a soulful melody in my heart.

I'm an ordinary man who understood that.

Do you know what happened in Mumbai one day?

-Good morning, sir. -Good morning.

Sai Ram.

My heartfelt condolences.

Today is one year since Sita passed away.

That... how do you know that?

I am Dr. Mahesh.

A neurologist in Sai Center.

Sita has been blessed by Swami.

Is that so?

Swami's blessings?

What blessing is that?

Taking her away from me? You call that his blessing?

That too, when?

On our wedding anniversary he took her away from me.

Does it seem like his blessing? Is this your Swami's compassion?

If she has been healthy, sir, why would God have taken her away?

No... no. She wasn't ill.

She was in the best of health.

No, sir.

I conducted a medical camp in your town last year.

She consulted me for a headache.

I took some tests and I saw her reports.

Sita...

What I am about to tell you now,

it is a serious issue.

You have to be strong.

Biopsy has confirmed it.

Glioblastoma multiforme.

Grade 4.

It is one of the most aggressive

and fastest-growing cancer tumours in the brain.

It will spread through the brain like a flash of lightning.

The pattern of its spread is unpredictable.

That's why it can't be removed.

Even if we attempt to do so,

we can't prevent recurrence.

Sita, your tumour is here.

Between temporal and parietal lobes.

Speech, memory and comprehension,

you will lose all these functions.

Then it is here too.

Too close to the brain stem.

Inhaling and exhaling, heart beat,

it will drain out your energy.

Sita,

as it increases progressively,

headaches can be unbearable.

You may tend to stumble while walking.

Perennial nausea.

Seizures may follow,

potentially impairing speech

or you may not be able to recognize Mahadevan.

To make matters worse,

you may even forget your own self.

After that, you may slip into a vegetative state.

Your eyes will be open

but you will lack consciousness.

Next is coma stage.

There will be a gradual shutdown of all vital organs.

Finally one day everything will be over.

Doctor,

something like this would happen.

I've felt this in my heart for a long time now.

Before...

Before diagnosing all this,

I felt I was carrying some kind of load within me.

But only now I am able to understand.

Swami has gradually

with a lot of love

held my hand and prepared me for this.

That's... that's why I have.

I have started talking to Swami.

By that I mean,

not walking up and down the steps of temples and tanks,

or not through prayers or vows.

With Swami's image in my heart,

I told Him peacefully.

I am not worried about myself.

I am only anxious and scared about my husband Mahadevan.

Doctor,

if he sees me suffer.

he will die long before I breathe my last.

Even if I'm running a slight fever,

he will become anxious.

If I am unable to talk,

what will happen to him?

Imagine the pain he will feel if I forget him?

Though I will be physically alive,

if I'm unresponsive in all aspects

lying in bed, still as a corpse,

my husband...

I begged Swami

not to save me,

but to save him.

Swami,

let this body perish if it has to.

But without my husband suffering seeing me wilt and fade,

I must pass away.

I should reach Your feet

in the blink of an eye.

In that very moment

take me from this earth.

I don't want to suffer for months and then die.

God! I don't want to be admitted in a hospital.

I don't want these machines and tubes.

I don't want this coma stage.

I don't want eyes that lack perception.

I don't want to die slowly.

Going through this slow painful death,

I don't want my husband to watch.

I don't want him to see.

Doctor.

I love...

I love him more than this world.

Me dying like this,

he shouldn't see.

His last memory of me

should be seeing me happy

and not suffering.

His last memory of me should be my smile.

Not my silence.

The last thing I see

should be his tender love and affection.

Not his loneliness without me.

That's why I implored to Swami.

If He decides to take me away

do so when he looks at me as his beloved Sita.

Oh God!

Not as a sick patient in a vegetative state.

Don't take me to that stage.

A husband who loved his wife his entire life...

Take me as his wife, I told Swami.

Everything is in His hands.

He.

Whatever He decides,

I will accept it gladly.

Sita amma.

How things should be done...

What should be done when…

My Swami knows, doctor.

I put that burden on him,

including my husband, Mahadevan.

What are you...

Brain tumour?

4th stage?

Oh God!... Oh God!

Sita, you must have suffered so much.

How did she bear the pain, all that stress and suffering?

She never told me. Not a single word.

One whole year.

I have been oblivious of her pain.

Sita, why did you do this?

You could have told me.

Am I a stranger to you?

She used to tell me everything.

We share our sorrows.

But she forgot about this, Swami.

Why didn't you tell me?

If I had known, wouldn't I....

Wouldn't I have shared half your pain?

I have sinned, Swami.

I am a wretched old sinner.

Now I understand.

Now I understand totally.

Swami...

Swami...

Swami.

I was in total ignorance of Your greatness.

Oh God!

Without understanding His mercy, I doubted His wisdom and actions.

I didn't realise Swami's unconditional love.

I criticised him too much. I let my tongue run wild.

Now I realise.

Swami has answered her prayers of anxiety by granting eternal solace.

And He made sure she reached her final destination.

Sita did not die the usual way.

Moksha! He gave her salvation.

Sai Ram.

Swami, I ask you this.

My humble request...

The liberation You gave her...

Kindly give the same liberation to me.

I am not able to live without her.

Everything is empty like a barren desert.

I feel terrible in this solitary existence.

Take me to be with You.

Let me go to the same place she is in.

Mahadevan,

your Sita has left behind some duties only you can fulfil.

God is fully aware of the time of your salvation.

Not just giving life,

when that life is troubled,

it is His duty to grant salvation at the right time.

That is ordained by God.

Be calm and composed.

That's all.

I understand now.

Mom,

you haven't slept even for a minute?

Why are you carrying this intense anguish all by yourself?

When my child's life is at stake,

how can I close my eyes and sleep?

All the doctors have told me their verdict.

He won't last beyond tonight.

Did they say that?

But this is my firm opinion.

Whatever Swami has ordained for him,

only His Will will prevail.

He is not just my son.

My firm faith.

My life.

God's boon sent to us as godsend.

The miracle in the palm of my hands.

We had been married for 10 years.

I consulted so many doctors.

Countless test reports were taken.

All pointed to one verdict.

You are not blessed to be a mother.

I went to Puttaparthi

with empty hands.

with anguish locked in my heart.

Swami glanced at me.

Just a single glance.

Your deepest yearning.

He said, it will be fulfilled for sure.

The very next month I conceived him.

I was thinking I had no hope of motherhood.

I heard the sound of a tiny heartbeat in my womb.

Do you know how precious that emotion is?

From that second, Bhakti became my breath.

But... I agree to one thing.

I behaved like this naive child in my devotion to Swami.

I kept asking God, Swami, give me this, grant me that.

Some wishes He granted immediately.

Some He didn't.

When He granted my wish, I floated on cloud nine.

When He didn't give, I kept crying nonstop.

But it took time. Gradually,

I understood something.

Swami can transform a mountain into the sea.

And vice versa.

Even fate.

He can change like a mother changes her child's dress.

When I realised that,

I surrendered totally at His feet.

But...

Now...

Sitting here in this ICU,

I understand a bitter truth.

I did not surrender fully, doctor.

All that I said was mere lip service.

Not from the bottom of my heart.

Because more than my devotion for Swami,

The love I have for my son gained priority.

That love towers high like a mountain in front of my eyes.

You tell me, doctor.

How can a mother turn her back from the child she gave birth to?

The blood running in his veins and the breath he inhales.

How can I sever that precious bond?

My belief is shrinking when I see him in this state.

My act of surrender is trembling now.

My ardent devotion

like a small child's devotion is sobbing inconsolably.

I prided myself in thinking I was a devout devotee!

Only now I realise.

Seeing him lie still like this.

The way I pleaded to Swami to save my child.

I am just his mother.

Not true devotee at all.

Just his mother.

Swami, tonight

the final door is to be opened.

He has unlocked and shown.

He gave me my son as His blessing.

If He wants to take my son's life,

I won't ask Him why.

I won't ask Him anything.

I will not question His love.

I won't bargain against His wish.

Doctor..

This elephant called Gajendra.

You know what he realised in the end.

The elephant thought his strength was his power till the very end.

When the crocodile began to drag him into its jaws...

When his power was reduced to nothing...

He understood a truth.

There is no safe haven other than God.

Not our kith and kin, influence and assets.

Or being strong and brave.

When that elephant realised this absolute truth,

and trumpeted aloud Narayana,

heaven opened its gates and

God came rushing to help the elephant.

I am that Gajendra today.

The crocodile...

The unconditional love I have for my son.

Swami..

the son You blessed me with,

if You tell me You are taking him back,

I will not ask You why?

I won't ask anything.

But all I ask You is to give me the

strength to bear my sorrow with a smile.

This is my last chord of love and affection.

Even that

I will place at Your feet.

I'll place at Your Golden feet.

This is true surrender.

Our unwavering faith even during the worst of times

is the meaning of true surrender.

Your destined time has also arrived.

The purpose of my visit is over.

Salutations to Sai Baba.

Couple of years ago,

My wife Jane and I built a house in California.

Near the Big Sur.

On top of the forest mountain hill.

Facing the Pacific.

It was a paradise.

We built it with one thought.

Swami must feel at home here.

It was not just a house.

It became a Sai Center for the local devotees.

Bhajans every week.

Meditation.

Seva projects.

And always Baba's photo in the middle of everything.

But one summer,

a massive forest fire erupts.

It started miles away.

- But it came fast.

- The wind became wild.

- The Emergency Team ordered us to evacuate.

- And we left.

We stood in front of Baba's photo and prayed.

- Swami, this is Your house.

- You gave it, You protect it.

- We tied one small photo of Baba in front of the window,

- facing the forest

- and left.

For the next two days, we were helpless.

We saw the neighbourhood vanish.

Houses burn.

Even the fire fighters were overwhelmed.

Then the fire reached our area.

But then, we got the news.

Our house was untouched.

Everything around,

the trees, houses, garden was ash.

But our home.

- Not even a scratch.

- And when we returned,

it was like a miracle had stood guard.

All black and charred around.

- But our home stood there.

Perfect.

Peaceful.

And outside,

- the Baba photo was fine.

- Still fluttering in the wind.

Vasudevanji told me,

- Baba has already said,

- my children who live with love for me,

- their homes, their lives will be protected by me.

- Not even fire can cross my word.

We lost nothing because we surrendered everything.

Ever grateful to Sai Baba.

What happens to Swami's devotees...

He changes you into a humane human being.

If you practice Hinduism,

he shapes you to be a peerless, perfect Hindu.
