Hi there! I'm Chris Sanders, and it's 4
o 'clock on Sunday, June 10th, and I'm

on my way to Solitary Lodge, which is
basically a place that you can stay for

fee, kind of like a hotel or B &B, and I
found it advertised on a corkboard

outside the grocery store I go to.

And, um, really the whole idea is it's
in the middle of nowhere, you know, 50

miles of natural forest all around,
surrounding it, and...

really the whole idea is you're supposed
to go there alone and just um kind of

find yourself it's a real soul
-searching type of thing so so the ad

and short bio of the owner who was a
middle -aged kind of grizzly gray

guy and uh basically it said that he
went through a period in his life where

really needed to find himself and uh he
wound up staying for a few days at a

remote large house and It really helped
him do that, so that's why he started

this whole solitary lodge thing.

And quite frankly, that's pretty much
what I need at this point in my life.

But this guy, he actually rents it out.
You know, he works full -time or travels

a lot when he works, so it's kind of
like a side thing for him.

Anyway, I decided to document the whole
experience with a $90 camera because,

well, if I ever lose myself in the
future...

At least I have documentation of how I
was able to find myself again. So that's

really the whole purpose behind that.

Plus, I did recently watch some really
old childhood videos of myself, you

that my parents made when I was really
young.

And I have to say, I could really see my
spirit shining through them, you know.

I had such a naturally vibrant,
innocent, kind of confident spirit that

really inspiring to see.

I'm really hoping to, you know,
reinvigorate that finder again and

document it with these videos, so I hope
so. We'll see what happens.

All right, so just pulling in to
Solitary Lodge now.

Looks like we got a deer grate here.

Interesting landscaping going on, it
looks like.

Yeah, I haven't seen any photos or
anything of this place myself yet, so

all new to me.

But I have to say, it is looking quite
nice. It's a pretty big looking house.

Again, with the gardens over here.

Definitely looks nice.

And yep, there's the garage doors left
open on purpose.

The other garage apparently is
undergoing renovations at the moment.

So let's see.

Oh, and yeah, the owner actually lives
here. He just rents the place out

whenever he's away on business, which is
apparently a lot.

I guess I will refrain from bringing in
my suitcase until I've checked out the

place first.

Take it to documentary.

Now, he said the door would be unlocked.

Yep.

Oh, that looks weird.

We can make a little noise there. Let's
try that again.

Huh.

Yeah, that is definitely interesting. I
guess it's for security reasons.

But it's kind of weird. I mean, it's so
remote out here.

I don't know.

You don't necessarily need that, but I
guess better to be safe than sorry,

right?

We've got what looks to be a little
bathroom here.

Yep, that's good to know.

Maybe turn on some lights here.

Oh, wow.

Oh, this is very nice.

Yeah, we got a kitchen here. Oh, he said
that the key would be on the counter in

the kitchen.

Yeah, he left the place unlocked,
obviously, so I could get in.

Yeah, nice living room.

Definitely going to be hanging out there
a bit.

I guess this is what you would call an
atrium of sorts.

Yep, there's that beep noise again, but
a nice view out here.

I bet this here is the basement, which
he said is under renovation.

Yep, that's definitely the basement down
there. It's not supposed to go down

there, so I guess I'll stay clear of
that area.

So that's pretty cool. Overall,
definitely a really nice place, I have

Well, I got all my stuff moved in, all
my food and whatnot from the pantry and

fridge, and I figure I might as well,
you know, give you a little background

about my life, try just to kind of
catalog where I am in it.

Was that vase here before?

I could have sworn there wasn't a vase.
There's a vase over there on that tea

table, I guess you could call it.

I don't know. Maybe I just imagined it
when I was first filming.

So I was born in Chester, New Jersey,
which is a few hours away from this

in western Pennsylvania.

I was born to a poor family. My father's
software business was struggling a lot.

And because of that, He actually, or my
parents actually had to give away my

twin Randy is his name, basically at
birth, so I've never known him. But,

it's very unfortunate, and over the many
years I've thought of, you know, trying

to find him and kind of reconnect or,
you know, pretty much connect for the

first time. But, I mean, I just, like,
never really knew him, and it's been so

much time, and I'm kind of a shy guy.
So, I mean, to be honest, I just don't

even know what I would really say to
him, you know.

My parents then became incredibly
wealthy when my father's software

took off like crazy.

I mean, I'm incredibly grateful because
it allowed me to pursue my creative

writing degree from Fairleigh Dickinson
University.

And, you know, that experience really
kind of taught me that fortune can

on a dime, you know.

Sometimes you just got to write it out
and try to find yourself, you know.

Unfortunately, both of my parents are
dead.

My mom died of breast cancer a couple of
years ago, and my dad of grief shortly

after that.

But I did have a great childhood.

I had a couple of close friends.

I loved to write children's horror
stories like Goosebumps.

I always wanted to be a best -selling
author like R .L. Stine, especially

children's horror books.

Got my creative writing degree. I tried
to make it in publishing, basically my

own books.

But that, unfortunately, you know,
nothing ever really came of it. So I

lost the passion and gave up, I guess
you could say.

But I did meet the love of my life. Anna
Thompson was her name in my advertising

job.

And that was going well for, you know,
quite a while. But, well, she met

else at work, kind of had an affair.

ultimately decided you know chose him
over me so uh she divorced me at the

time i got laid off about six months ago
um but uh you know i got some money

saved up so i figure might as well uh
give the solitary lodge thing a shot so

Not too bad.

Forgot to mention earlier in the living
room that I recently started a YouTube

channel that basically features horror
and comedy videos I do touch on a bit

about how I've lost myself and my plans
for finding myself again but the channel

doesn't really do very well doesn't have
a lot of subscribers and I haven't

really posted anything in a while, but
um You know come to think

of it it's interesting that there's a
workstation with a computer like right

next to my bedroom you know so i don't
know maybe there's a reason for that i

mean maybe part of me finding myself uh
has to do with uh you know rekindling uh

my love for writing again maybe i should
just start uh writing uh another

children's horror book or something yeah
yeah i think that's a great idea

you know I'm at this place called

Solitary Lodge, which is in the middle
of nowhere in western Pennsylvania,

surrounded by a beautiful natural forest
all around for many miles.

And, um...

Really, the whole idea of this place is
you're supposed to come here and just

stay here alone by yourself.

Yeah, so the place really reminds me of
that massive cabin we stayed at together

in the Alps during our honeymoon.

I mean, so peaceful with nature all
around. You'd really love it.

Wasn't that such a romantic time we had
together in the Alps?

You should totally come up here to the
lodge.

I mean, that'd be awesome. Sure, you're
not, like, obviously really supposed to

come here.

If the landlord ever found out, I'd
actually owe, like, twice the amount.

in our contract, but it'd be so worth
it.

Besides, it's not like you'd ever
actually, like, find out about it. You

never prove it anyway, you know, so it
could just be our little secret.

I remember how you love to keep little
secrets.

Well, I figure you won't call me back.

But I really hope you do this time
because I love you very much and I miss

very much.

series.

I haven't read a children's horror book
in seven years, so might as well give it

a shot, right?

flowing a bit. Got my heart pounding.

Kind of sparked my imagination, and I
have to say, I've actually kind of been

enjoying writing my latest, my newest
children's horror book.

Remember how you used to love reading my
children's horror books?

was you who actually came up here to

the lodge and...

entered and then maybe got cold feet and
decided to leave. I mean, that would

explain the two beeps, and I haven't
heard back from the landlord yet.

into the basement actually this time,

Apparently, someone is actually living

uneasy.

And to be honest, I'm starting to think
maybe I should just leave because he's

obviously lying about the apartment
being renovated. I mean, whoever's down

there living there could potentially be
dangerous, of course.

there.

On the flip side, I feel like this whole
experience is continuing to fuel my

writing. I mean, I think this is some of
the most fun and productive writing

period I've ever had overall in my
entire life. I mean, I think this latest

children's horror book I'm writing on is
by far my best ever.

So that's pretty cool. Definitely
excited about that.

But, yeah, I mean, if you want to give

Hey man, so I keep hearing these beeps,
and they're extremely disruptive, and

you still haven't called me back. So, if

So I've already written my children's
horror book for a few hours today, and I

came upon a really big realization.

And that's that I never really wrote
books to get published, or even to be a

best -selling author.

Certainly not for my ex -wife, and heck,
not even for kids.

You know, I really, truly wrote them for
myself. Always have.

You know, just for, like, the sheer fun
of telling creepy stories, like the ones

I used to love as a kid.

And, you know, it really took this whole
experience, this whole solitary lodge

experience with, you know, being alone
out here and all the weird, eerie

disturbances to really bring that
feeling that I treasure so much back,

know. So I'm definitely grateful for
that.

Hey, Chris. So I was wrong about the
basement being renovated. The

were just completed literally the day

the timing.

However, no one else should be living
there, so you could very well be in

danger. I recommend either leaving or
calling the police, though it'll take

at least an hour to get there since it's
so remote.

Well, I know something pretty weird and
potentially dangerous has been going on

around here because, well, lately I've
been seeing some pretty weird things.

example, that doll in the atrium, every
time I walk by...

It seems as if its head has moved ever
so slightly to the side more and more.

And just earlier today, at some point,
someone must have placed Coraline, my

favorite children's hardbook, on my
pillow.

And not only that, but I found this in
my footage

of when I was eating dinner last night.

You can see that's me drinking a glass
of Coke. And then right there on the far

left, or right side rather, you can see
someone's arm, or what

appears to be someone's arm, protruding.

Anyway, I don't really want to leave or
call the police because, quite frankly,

I've been having a lot of fun writing my
latest children's horror book.

And I think a big part of that reason is
because of all the brings mysterious

activity going on around here uh yeah i
think that's really been helping me out

and uh i mean i am struggling a bit
right now unfortunately uh i'm at the

it's a very important part of the book
but um just don't really know what

happen exactly um i have some ideas but
nothing really feels right you know and

um

Obviously really important.

So I'm thinking that I'm going to have
to confront

whoever this person or entity is. And I
just

have a feeling that's going to really
help me nail the climax.
