Among the quiet towns and bustling epicenters around the world,

reports pour in of unusual aerial phenomena.

It shoots high into the air.

It's moving in an erratic way.

This is not a terrestrial craft.

Flying discs, hovering orbs,

strange biological substances falling from the sky.

To determine what it might have been,

you'd have to eliminate all the other possibilities.

The sensational becomes credible once it's crowdsourced.

Thousands of people claim to see these orbs.

UFO hotspots light up on the map.

What's made these places the target of otherworldly attention?

This might be the location of the vortex.

As vessels reappear in the same locations,

can we use the earthly to guess at otherworldly motives?

Are these mysterious visitors friends or foe?

And should we fear their return?

All over the world, repeat sightings of UFOs baffle researchers.

UAP are in our airspace, but they are grossly underreported.

A pattern begins to emerge.

These sightings are not rare or isolated.

They are routine.

What is the meaning behind these hotspots?

I can't go beyond what I've already stated publicly.

The government is not prepared.

Are we being mapped?

Are we being mapped?

February, 2018.

Tensions are running high among the airspace controllers overseeing the Sonoran Desert near Phoenix, Arizona.

A strange, unidentified object has captured the attention of a number of pilots in the area.

A Learjet pilot is the latest to call in.

The FAA seeks assistance from an American Airlines Airbus cruising through the same airspace.

When pressed for an explanation, the FAA issues a cryptic statement revealing they are unable to confirm any details.

The audio recordings of the exchange make international headlines,

and the incident adds to the ever-growing list of UFO sightings over Phoenix, Arizona.

The public is reminded of an aerial anomaly that took place 21 years earlier in the very same area, and is yet to be explained.

7.30 p.m. March 13, 1997.

The skies are clear over Phoenix, as stargazer Terry Mansfield hopes to catch a glimpse of the Hale-Bob Comet.

Mansfield is sitting on her patio, overlooking the Paradise Valley near Phoenix,

when a massive object floats into her view, completely obscuring the sky.

This is no comet.

The object, whatever it is, has a shine to it.

She believes she is standing directly beneath some kind of alien craft.

On March 13, 1997, thousands of people are looking upwards to see a comet trailing across the sky.

But what they see is something very different.

Over the next few hours, 10,000 people bear witness to one of the largest mass UFO sightings in history.

They are convinced across four states, California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, that they are seeing something extraterrestrial.

At approximately 10 p.m. the same night, another string of lights appears hovering over Phoenix before disappearing behind the Estrella mountain range, 24 kilometers southwest of the city.

When you look up and you're looking at them, you've got no references around it.

You're seeing it in this big area of space within the stars or the clouds around it.

And so you can't tell how far away it is or where it is.

And you just create an idea of that location and that distance.

But then if they move and they go behind something like the Estrella mountain range when they disappear,

now you have that reference at the mountain range.

You know how far away that is.

And so they can go from an unimaginable height to something a lot closer to the ground and then disappear.

And the only way they can do that in that short period of time is if they go at some insane speed that human aircraft can't go at.

People are now saying that this object has got much, much larger.

It's something like 6,000 feet across and it's moving across the sky.

In the days that follow, police, reporters and even the governor reach out to nearby Air Force bases for an explanation.

None are provided.

The Davis-Monthan Air Force base in Tucson, roughly 201 kilometers southeast of the city,

reports no military maneuvers took place that night, as does Luke U.S. Air Force base, just 32 kilometers from the city.

Militaries are really interested in protecting their technology.

They really don't want foreign bodies knowing what they're doing.

So if the U.S. government or the U.S. military is out testing some technology,

they don't really want it to be in the public space.

Then, four months later, Luke U.S. Air Force base changes its story

and claims it was testing new flare capabilities of its A-10 close support air fleet that night.

I would say that formations of aircraft, obviously military aircraft flying at night,

is an absolutely plausible explanation.

I know that Luke Air Force base is in Phoenix.

They are a very busy airport with lots of different types of aircraft.

It is rare that the military aircraft will do maneuvers at night, especially an A-10.

An A-10 is a ferocious air-to-ground attack aircraft.

However, many witnesses are not satisfied by the military's delayed response.

The explanation that I find the least convincing is the flare theory,

just because flares are very predictable.

They have a certain motion in the sky.

They go up, they fall down, and then, of course, they flare out.

In the hopes of silencing the skeptics, the military decides to recreate the event

by conducting an airdrop test.

However, the display only strengthens public doubt.

The military flare is something that's burning.

It's not like an electric light,

because the purpose of the flare is to generate heat,

and the heat is designed to divert a heat-seeking weapon from hitting the aircraft.

And so there's usually a smoke trail.

They're not just sort of a ball of light, not that I've ever seen.

It's possible.

It may be a different kind of electric flare.

I don't know what that would be for.

I'm sort of at a loss to explain that it could have been a flare,

because the flares I know, they burn.

Now, of course, the public, not only confused, but also slightly suspicious.

Why is it the military has gone from total denial

to now coming out with a series of excuses?

If you're seeing three lights in the sky, and you can sort of say,

oh, yeah, they're all moving the same direction, the same speed,

sure, it absolutely might be, because they're in the same body of atmosphere.

But if you try that same experiment a couple nights later,

this one might drop down a little further and be in a slightly different moving atmosphere,

so it's going to change what it looks like.

And, of course, when you're looking to disprove something,

you're looking at that, any little tiny deviation,

which, of course, you're absolutely going to have,

is going to be proof that, obviously, that thing that happened

those many nights before was completely different than the thing we're seeing right now.

Some suspect the military's evasion over these events

is deliberately designed to protect top-secret information and technology.

It starts off with the explanation itself.

Like, it's easy or easier to believe if somebody says,

well, I didn't tell you that then because...

But the idea that, oh, yeah, they just dropped some flares,

why wouldn't you tell that then?

So the story now doesn't include any reasonable explanation

for why they didn't give the story then.

Strategically situated on the outskirts of Phoenix,

the Luke Air Force Base trained some of the best military pilots in the world

to fly the most advanced military aircraft ever created.

Luke Air Force Base is the largest active U.S. military wing.

That means it has the largest number of aircraft.

Included in this fleet are F-16s and F-35s.

These are modern warfare aircraft.

Luke Air Force Base uses these aircraft to train pilots,

so there's a lot of aircraft activity going on regularly at Luke Air Force Base.

Given the base's long and illustrious history,

it's possible that the Phoenix Lights were, in fact,

part of a top-secret military project.

This wouldn't be the first time that sightings of top-secret government projects

have been blamed on UFOs.

However, witnesses report the UFO's massive size

far exceeds that of any aircraft ever flown.

When we think about the biggest aircraft ever produced,

this aircraft with the largest wingspan ever created

has a wingspan of about 385 feet.

To put that in perspective with what the observers saw,

saying that the aircraft they saw had thousands of foot wingspan,

they're just not on the same scale.

So this clearly isn't a single aircraft that's man-made.

Ten years after the Phoenix Lights event,

an unexpected announcement by the former governor of Arizona

suggests that the secrecy surrounding the episode

may have been less about protecting domestic technology

and more about concealing the activity of unknown entities.

Symington, who was governor of Arizona at that time,

the time of the Phoenix Lights sighting,

ten years later comes back and says

he had indeed seen the Phoenix Lights,

that he was one of the witnesses in that mass sighting,

and that he did not buy the Air Force story,

which he said was not the right explanation for this phenomenon.

Could these be some aerial spycrafts from other countries,

or maybe there's something completely different?

When considering why this area would be such a draw

for extraterrestrial visitors,

thoughts immediately turn to national security

and the Luke Air Force Base.

Here, pilots not only get experience flying

some of the most powerful aircraft in the world,

they also engage in advanced training simulations

where they can train in battlefield maneuvers.

It is basically the cutting edge of aircraft technology,

which is used and experimented and developed over there.

So any foreign power or alien power

would want to keep this area under surveillance.

In fact, Arizona itself is located in a prime location

for anyone wanting to study U.S. defense systems.

Not only is it home to 28 military operation areas,

it lies between Nevada's infamous Area 51 to the north,

California's Edwards Air Force Base to the west,

and New Mexico's White Sands Missile Base to the east.

When I was in the military,

there used to be a publication called Aviation Week,

and I remember my squadron mates being astounded

at the information they would publish.

I remember saying to ourselves, you know,

discussing this and saying,

this is what they're releasing to the public.

What do they got hidden?

I mean, it was amazing what we thought

was very interesting and very advanced technology

that they were releasing to the public.

And we're saying there must be a lot more going on

behind the scenes.

From top secret government facilities

to energetic anomalies

and hundreds of unsolved mysteries related to UFO sightings,

the Grand Canyon State remains veiled in the unknown.

It's simply amazing just how many UFO sightings come out of Arizona.

There is something going on.

It ranks so highly in terms of UFO hotspots in the United States.

So we need to pose the question,

what is going on in Arizona?

There are 28 military operation areas in Arizona

that pilots are told to avoid.

The FAA broadly refers to these locations as special use airspace.

Radar coverage is often unreliable or unavailable in these zones

because of their remote locations and surrounding mountains.

Radar is a line of sight device.

In other words, the radar transmitter

has to have something to bounce off of

and that could be a mountain.

Just like a beam of light,

if someone is beyond a mountain range,

then they're in the shadow of a light,

so they can't be seen.

It's the same thing with radar.

So yeah, low-flying objects behind mountains would be unseen.

While this phenomenon poses a challenge for some aircraft,

for others,

it facilitates the perfect conditions to fly under the radar.

And military sites aren't the only areas

that have seen an increase in unwanted aerial activity.

September 29, 2019.

A cluster of five or six drones

are seen buzzing over a concrete facility

80 kilometers west of Phoenix.

They stay for over an hour before disappearing,

only to return the following night.

When we think about Savannah River and Los Alamos,

these are facilities that were used

to generate nuclear materials for nuclear bombs.

They are sites of intense research

into how to control nuclear reactions,

how to build nuclear reactors.

Having UAPs around these sites

is extremely concerning,

not only to the U.S. military,

but it should be to everybody in general.

The sightings are investigated

by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission,

the FBI,

Department of Homeland Security,

and the FAA.

All we know is that people saw

what they believed to be drones.

And by definition, drones are UFOs.

Despite their efforts,

no one knows who or what deployed the UAVs.

Between 2015 and 2019,

there were 57 reported incursions of drones

into the airspace around nuclear facilities

in the U.S. like Palo Verde.

This is really concerning.

We really don't want people investigating these sites

and figuring out where nuclear materials are

or spying on them

or developing plans to attack them.

Located in an isolated corner of the Arizona desert

is the United States' largest nuclear power plant,

Palo Verde.

It generates enough energy

to power an entire city.

It uses cutting-edge technology.

So if anywhere was going to be of interest

to extraterrestrials,

then it would be Palo Verde.

The plant is a vital source of energy

and the largest power generator in the United States.

If anything were to happen to it,

the consequences would be catastrophic.

Historically, this site has been seen

as a potential target for foreign enemies.

So throughout the Cold War

and even as late as 2003

at the start of the Iraq War,

we're positioning troops at these facilities

to make sure that they're protected

and that they can't be attacked.

This wouldn't be the first time

UFOs have been seen flying over or near nuclear sites.

There have been dozens and dozens of sightings

near nuclear-related places

all over the United States.

Just as human beings are now running from pillar to post,

from Earth to Mars, looking for resources,

any advanced civilization

is also going to be interested and invested

in looking for these types of resources.

Or, on the other hand,

they could also be very, very lethal targets

if they were to be hit by some kind of alien or enemy force.

While Palo Verde would provide a vast source of man-made energy,

local legend suggests that Arizona is also home

to immense sources of natural energy

that could prove even more powerful.

Amidst the rustling leaves of the ancient juniper trees

and the fiery hues of the Sedona Desert in northern Arizona

are tales of a mystical energy

radiating from the desert's red rock.

In modern times,

certain locations in the desert have become beacons

for those hoping to experience

their own close encounters and spiritual awakenings

by being in the presence of alleged energy vortexes.

The Sedona vortex has gained a lot of currency.

The idea is that there is a positive vortex in Sedona,

and the idea is that you can tap into the Earth energy,

and this will change the way you live.

It will change your body for the better.

It will change your mind for the better,

making you more harmonious and more attuned

with the Earth and the environment.

That's the idea of the Sedona vortex.

A massive tourist industry

has grown up around the Sedona vortexes,

as every year visitors flock to the area

to feel the swirly energy that leaves the Earth's crust.

Others join the dozens of UFO tours

that promise an opportunity

to experience first-hand alien encounters.

The evidence that's given for the existence

of this intangible energy in Sedona

is the various ways in which the juniper trees

get bent while growing,

and the idea is it is the patterns of energy

which cause the juniper trees

to bend in particular ways.

And the other thing which is remarkable

about the Sedona vortex

is that it affects the wind patterns sometimes,

and you could experience high wind

and a perfectly calm kind of environment

within a very short span of time in the same place.

In 2010, electrical engineer Benjamin Lontree

attempted to monitor the effect of the Sedona vortex

on the human brain

by hooking up volunteers to EEG machines.

Interestingly, the conclusion of this study

was that there is some measurable degree

of inflow and outflow of energy

which people experience in this area.

People have actually found a type of, like,

magnetic receptor in the brain

that can tell you, like, a compass reading

which way things are going.

And just recently actually found it in humans, too,

that we have these magnetite-type receptors in there.

But are they useful?

Are they meaningful?

Can we actually, like, a compass point to north

in a featureless room?

When you put somebody in a big, like,

round circular room,

you spin it around,

you stop it,

you ask them to tell which way is north?

Not really.

So there's always been this kind of push and pull

to figure out, like,

can we sense things like magnetic fields?

Is this some paranormal phenomenon?

Or are there unknown natural or biological forces at play?

We don't understand the human being

even physically completely, right?

And there's a long history of the evolution

of the human being.

So maybe at some point we were more attuned to the Earth.

We were more attuned to the forces of the Earth,

like geomagnetism.

So when we go to places like Sedona,

which have, whether it's because of the high concentration

of iron or because of the vortex,

these residual ancestral kind of abilities get triggered,

they get activated,

and this is why people are able to have these experiences

in places like Sedona.

New Age theorists believe the energy sources

stem from something supernatural

that was brought here from outer space.

There's a widely believed theory

that aliens in ancient times,

a long time ago,

came to Sedona and other places

and buried crystals that generate energy under the ground.

And that's what's causing this vortex-like phenomenon

in the area.

Now, geologists have said

there are no such crystals,

no evidence of anything like this

under the ground in the area or any other area.

An alternate theory suggests

nothing has been discovered

because there is no collection

of powerful materials emitting energy.

Instead, these vortexes are caused

by interdimensional portals

that can neither be seen nor measured

by our earthly instruments.

For those who believe in the wormhole theory,

they see Sedona as a kind of lighthouse

attracting aliens from across the universe.

emitting a beam, as it were,

that's bringing in UFOs.

One of the earliest documented UFO sightings

in Sedona occurred in 1947

when an unidentified individual

reported seeing flying disks in the sky

and a large ball of blue light.

The official report described the flying disk

as a spinning top.

The incident caught the attention

of the FBI and the Air Force,

prompting an investigation

with no confirmed results.

Could the Sedona vortexes

be a beacon guiding UFOs

to an unlimited energy supply

in the middle of the Arizona desert?

Or is there any evidence to suggest

that they are some kind of portal

to another dimension?

Maybe what's causing it

is what Einstein called a wormhole,

a kind of interdimensional portal

through space and time

that could be linking Sedona

to a whole different part of the universe

and even a whole different time period

beyond our perception,

that this is a corridor,

the entrance to a corridor in our universe.

If a wormhole existed on Earth,

I can promise you we would know about it.

So chances are it's, you know,

impossible to think of a wormhole existing on Earth

and us not being aware of it.

You know, a wormhole would be a pretty significant,

or a vortex, as you say,

it would be a pretty significant event in space-time

and that would distort space-time.

And so we would definitely be able

to pick up on something like that on Earth.

It is evening on the peaceful Bradshaw Ranch

on the outskirts of Sedona.

Linda Bradshaw is walking around her property

when a huge and bright light

appears in the sky above her.

It remains overhead for only a few seconds.

This isn't her first encounter

with the otherworldly glow.

It appeared in this very spot

just a few days ago,

and this time, she's ready.

Bradshaw has enough time to snap photographs

before the lights disappear.

The pictures, taken on 35mm film,

reveal an enormous rectangular light

in the night sky.

Bradshaw Ranch has become famous,

even infamous,

for the amount of paranormal activity

and UFO sightings on this ranch.

It was once owned by a movie star.

It's become famous in modern times, though,

not for that connection,

but for its connection to things

that come from somewhere beyond planet Earth.

In her book,

Linda describes frequent encounters

with strange alien gray-like entities,

dinosaurs,

repeated sightings of Sasquatch,

and other unexplained phenomena

starting in the early 90s.

Bob and Linda would have friends over,

and they would see UFOs,

certainly lots of sightings of various kinds,

but not just sightings themselves,

but actual encounters

with all kinds of strange phenomena,

UFO saucers,

but also reportedly cryptids

or very strange animals

that they didn't recognize

or didn't recognize to be from the region.

The Bradshaws believe aliens,

along with other cryptids,

are able to visit the ranch

through an interdimensional portal

that enables lifeforms

to freely travel

from one dimension to another,

something similar to the portals

believed to be present

at the Sedona Vortex points.

As with most alien encounters,

aside from some photos

taken by the family

and their documented firsthand accounts,

there is no scientific evidence

to support their claims.

There's a strange turn

in the story of the Bradshaw Ranch.

In 2003,

the US government acquires it

using some or other instrument.

It takes over the ranch.

Now, the government claims

that this is for a climate study,

but there's a lot of security,

a lot of fencing,

nobody allowed in,

no evidence of a study

ever actually happening,

certainly no findings,

nobody's allowed into the ranch,

and yet, up to this day,

the government controls the ranch,

it's sealed off,

and who knows what's going on there.

Conspiracy theorists

believe this is a clue

that the government

took control of the ranch

to protect a huge

and remarkable discovery.

There's so much mystery

surrounding what the US government

has done to the Bradshaw Ranch

that many believe

the real reason for a takeover

is that there is a portal

on the ranch

that the government

wanted to seize control of,

a portal to other dimensions,

and it certainly doesn't want

the public or casual visitors

turning up to have a look

into the portal.

Archaeological evidence

in another ranch

in nearby Winslow, Arizona,

suggests these UFO sightings

in Arizona

date back thousands,

if not millions, of years.

The thing I like about Arizona

in general is that

there just remain

many questions unanswered.

There's lots of sightings,

there's a very strange

alien-looking landscape

with a lot of difference in it,

and the interesting thing

is that we have

lots of authorities,

we have lots of scientists

who study that region,

they study the state,

they study a lot

of the natural phenomena there,

and nevertheless,

it remains a bit of a mystery.

The appropriately named

Rock Art Ranch

is about 5,000 acres,

it's a cattle ranch,

and the reason it has that name

is that it's one of the best areas

for ancient petroglyph art.

There's simply loads of it

made by ancient peoples

on the rocks in that area.

These etchings,

which date between

6,000 and 14,000 BCE,

were left behind

by some of the earliest

humanoid inhabitants

in the area

as ways to share stories

and document what they observed.

What really grabs your attention

with these petroglyphs

is that you have

images of people,

images of animals,

but then you have

images of beings

that are humanoid

but are much bigger

than the other humans

and have rather

oddly shaped heads.

Now, one of the explanations

for these images

could be what's often described

as the ancient alien theory,

namely that extraterrestrial beings,

for whatever reason,

have been visiting us

for a very long time

and that they came

to our ancestors

possibly even shaping

our civilization

and our destiny.

While the ancient astronaut theory

is entirely unproven,

it would help make sense

of how ancient people

in places across the globe

share similar images

and stories

without even being able

to communicate.

Could the abstract beings

depicted in the petroglyphs

at Rock Art Ranch

be records of extraterrestrial

visitors on Earth?

If so,

what could they have been monitoring

all those years ago,

before the invention

of military warplanes

or nuclear energy,

when the world and humanity

were far less advanced?

If we think about the places

that UFO phenomena

are drawn to,

it seems that they're drawn

to places which are

either natural resources

or man-made resources

like nuclear fuel.

They seem to also be keeping tabs

on surveilling,

as it were,

military sites,

which could be significant.

But these UFO phenomena

then are also drawn

to places which have

a spiritual significance

for human beings

like Sedona,

where there is no real

military activity,

but the phenomena

are still drawn there.

The reasons for that

could be that there's

something significant

about this place

on a cosmic

or on a larger scale.

Or they have some kind

of connection to this place.

Arizona's vast desert canvas

bears an ancient scar.

A celestial mark

left 50,000 years ago,

the Beringer Meteor Crater.

Widely accepted

as the most well-preserved

meteor impact crater

on the planet,

it was created 50,000 years ago

when a meteorite smashed

into the Colorado Plateau,

causing a giant pit

174 meters deep

and 1,250 meters across.

Enough room

for 20 football fields.

And the impact

of these meteors

hitting Earth,

you know,

the material

that hit the Earth

likely brought with it

what we call volatiles.

And volatiles

are ingredients

that we think

may have played

a really important role

in the development

of life on Earth.

So one way

of thinking about this

is maybe

we've all come from space.

If there is life

beyond our world,

would some extraterrestrial

stargazers

be able to witness

this event from space?

I mean,

it depends on

what we're looking at.

So for example,

outer space

is really, really dark.

And so if we were

just orbiting the Earth,

we would maybe

probably not be able

to see a space rock

passing right past us.

But as these space rocks

enter the Earth's atmosphere,

they become really,

really heated

and hot

and glow

and burn

and break apart.

And so that kind of process

would be something

that would be quite bright

and I expect something

we'd be able to see.

The Beringer Meteor Crater

is by no means

the oldest on Earth.

However,

it provides us

with an interesting

point of study.

Just as we're looking

towards planets

and asteroids

to mine resources,

maybe extraterrestrials

are also doing

the same to Earth.

While our scientists

investigate its effects

on our planet,

could advanced civilizations

from beyond the stars

be interested

in doing their own research?

If you ask me

whether or not

I think life exists

beyond Earth,

I would tell you,

yes,

it almost certainly does.

And the reason for that,

the argument for that

is a statistical one.

So if we look

at our own Milky Way galaxy,

right?

So there's hundreds

of billions of stars

in our own Milky Way

and we think that's

pretty typical

for a galaxy.

As we move out,

there are roughly,

you know,

trillions of galaxies

in the observable universe.

And one thing we know

in just our little bit

of exploration we've done

in our own galaxy

is that planets

are common.

And on average,

we observe about one planet

for every star.

So if you put all

of this together

and assume that,

yeah,

chances are

that not all planets

are hospitable to life.

There's still millions

of opportunities

for life within

our own galaxy

and that's not

even counting

the other galaxies

there are in the universe.

In the heart

of the Arizona desert,

nature has carved

a masterpiece

that transcends

time itself.

this scale

of the Grand Canyon

becomes really apparent.

It is truly immense.

It is exceptionally deep.

And on top of that,

above the canyon

are mountains as well.

So when you're standing

in the bottom

of the Grand Canyon,

you have this impression

of immensity,

of how small you are

in relation to this

huge landscape

that stretches above you.

so you really feel

like you're

in the earth,

like you're part

of the geologic

structures around you.

The Grand Canyon

is 277 miles long

and more than a mile deep.

While it's one

of the best places

on earth

to view a continuous

geological record,

there appears to be

a significant missing piece

of the puzzle,

one that has baffled

scientists for years.

Obviously,

geologists have taken

a huge interest

in the Grand Canyon

for 100 years or more.

And there is this missing gap,

the unconformity,

for which there doesn't seem

to be a rational explanation.

There's clearly

some kind of seismic incident,

but could there have been

some kind of galactic incident?

In 2001,

geologists from

the University of Colorado

theorized that

the Great Unconformity

occurred because

of a huge upheaval event.

Basically,

what happened,

there was a huge uplift

in the earth

that caused

all the sediments

on the ocean floor

to be washed

further out in the ocean,

leaving this time period

with no evidence

of sedimentary rocks.

So for geologists,

the great upheaval

that led

to the Great Unconformity

is really an unknown.

It's a mystery

that they still have to solve.

Some believe

that the Great Unconformity

is evidence

that the Grand Canyon

is yet another alien corridor

nestled in the desert state,

one that has been visited

by extraterrestrials

time and time again.

On April 5th, 1909,

the Arizona Gazette

featured an article

detailing a fantastic discovery

made in the Grand Canyon.

An explorer and academic

by the name of G.E. Kincaid

embarks on a journey

along the Colorado River

seeking materials

when an unusual

sedimentary formation

captures his attention.

upon a hidden entrance

which unveils

a wondrous labyrinth

of honeycomb tunnels

that appeared

to have been fabricated

by someone

or something.

The tunnels

were filled

with gold urns,

sophisticated tools

and ancient artifacts

surrounded by hieroglyphs

and iconography

reminiscent of Hindu

and Egyptian cultures.

Only later

did it become apparent

that this was the result

of a fevered imagination

and a desire for fame

rather than an actual

archaeological discovery.

Even though the Kincaid story

turned out to be

a complete hoax,

it nevertheless

sparked interest

in the idea

of another world

underneath the floor

or the walls

of the Grand Canyon.

Could there be

some kind of evidence

of intergalactic activity

in the canyon

that is yet

to be discovered?

Online,

alternative researchers

continue to claim

that within the Grand Canyon

National Park

lies a designated

forbidden zone

strictly prohibiting

hiking,

camping

or exploration.

Believers speculate

about covert surveillance

by shadowy branches

of the federal government

overseeing the entire region.

In many of the national parks

in the United States,

there are blocked off areas,

forbidden zones,

if you want,

where people are

ordered not to go.

Now, the Grand Canyon

is no exception.

There are areas

where the public

cannot go.

Now, that may be

for our own safety,

it may be because

there are security concerns,

but, of course,

many believe

that there is something

in these zones

that the government

doesn't want us to see.

Adding to the suspicion

is the legislation

enacted in 1987,

which imposes

airspace restrictions

over the canyon,

a regulation shared

with only two other

national parks in America,

Yosemite

and Haleakala,

areas of great

natural resource

and geological significance.

One thing I like

to keep in mind

when we try

to fathom

what could possibly

be motivating

an extraterrestrial species

to take an interest

in our planets

or the resources

or the elements

that we have

on our planet

or even in the

solar system nearby

is the fact

that we also

take an interest

in these things.

We send out craft,

we send out rovers

to other planets,

other bodies

in the solar system

to see what could

potentially be mined,

what we could use

for ourselves.

And so if there is

another species

out there

that is close enough

and is taking

an interest in us,

it might be for much

the same reasons

that maybe we have

elements or something

that are of use

to them

even if we don't

necessarily recognize

it ourselves.

Arizona stands

as a tapestry

of unexplained events

which have blurred

the boundaries

between fact and fiction.

Whether it's lights

in the night sky,

bizarre disappearances

or inexplicable phenomena,

the reality

of these encounters

cannot be fully dismissed.

There's so much

variety in the geology

of Arizona

and there's so much

strangeness

in the geology

of Arizona

that it would not

be surprising

that an extraterrestrial

intelligence is drawn

to that place

there's also

a lot of desert

with no people

out there

to interfere

with any kind

of exploration

or any other

type of activity.

So there is

a certain mystery

about Arizona

given its geography

and so forth.

Arizona is geologically

very interesting

and that might be

fascinating to aliens

but it's also rich

in military bases

and this undoubtedly

could be something

that aliens

want to surveil.

So in terms

of explaining

why Arizona

is such a major

UFO hotspot,

all the elements

are there.

99% of history

is just simply

lost to us

and studying

deep geological time

in particular

is one really good

way to figure out

how did we get here,

how did we evolve

to the place we are

and I think frankly

holds a lot of answers

and explanation

for the UFO phenomenon

that we wouldn't

necessarily assume

that lights in the sky

are in any way

related to rock formations

in Arizona

but I think there's

actually quite

interesting connections

there that have

really yet to be

uncovered.

Much of the work

that we're doing

to try and understand

whether or not

life is out there

takes place

pretty close to Earth.

We do it using

telescopes,

observations from Earth

or from space

but one other way

in addition to using

our eyes and ears

is in actually

sending spacecraft out

to explore

new places

in the solar system

and potentially beyond

in the future

and so one example

of that is

the rovers

that we've sent

to Mars

and what they've

been able to do

is take little samples

from the surface

of Mars itself

and actually analyze it

and send that data

back to us

and that's given us

an unprecedented look.

Scientists,

archaeologists

and even the FAA

have admitted

that there are things

happening in Arizona

that we simply

don't understand.

Until we do,

the causes

of these phenomena

by definition

remain alien to us.
