It's Handyman Hal. I hope you're doing absolutely awesome today.

Check this out. We have an awesome job to do today.

We're here with Sawrite Tree Service in Murrellsland, South Carolina.

We've got some limbs to trim. We've got some branches to cut. Oh, and today, we

get to check out some really cool equipment like, oh, a chainsaw.

And this back here, look, it's a wood chipper.

It's going to be a great day. Come on, let's go have some fun.

Oh, wow, look.

Look at this, my friend.

This is Sean.

He's one of the crew members here for SawRite, and he's getting ready to climb

tree. He's getting all his gear on. He's got a saddle.

It's like a harness. Yep. Oh, and check this out.

This right here that he's putting on is called a spike. Look at that.

And these actually go on his feet to help him climb the tree.

That's really awesome. You see how he attaches it to his leg there?

Yep.

Secures it around his leg.

That's going to be awesome. I can't wait to see him climb the tree.

Oh, and if you notice, he's got his helmet on, too.

And it's got a face covering to protect his face from all of the debris that

might be coming into his face.

Oh, and now he's got all his leashes he's going to put on for safety.

It helps him hold on to the tree. And check it out. You've got all this rope

here. We've got a climb rope, which is called the climb line.

So he's got to have two points of safety, right?

So if one breaks, he's got another one to keep him safe.

So two points of safety at all times. Oh, and look, check it out.

He's got his chainsaw.

Oh, and he's going to attach it to his harness there.

Oh, yep.

I cannot wait to see this. It's going to be awesome.

Oh, he's going to crank it up.

You see he's throwing around his leash there.

Oh, that's what keeps him connected to the tree.

Oh, that's great.

Check that out.

And that's how he's going to climb.

Oh, wow.

Check it out.

Oh, he's using his spike to get up into the tree.

And look how he tosses the rope up.

His chainsaw is connected.

That way he's got it up there.

Whenever he gets there, and he's got both of his hands free.

Those spikes are awesome.

I might need to get me a pair of those.

Being a tree climber, You have to be safe.

He's making sure all his lines are secure.

He's looped and tied them off so he can cut some big limbs out of this tree.

Okay, here goes the first limb.

Yep, I did that.

It turns black.

Look, the ground man is actually tying on a tool called a silky. It's a really

cool saw. Check it out.

Yep, he's tying it on the end of the rope.

That way, the tree man can pull it up and use it for some of the small little

branches. Here he goes, buddy.

Here he goes.

That was awesome.

Look at all of these limbs.

They certainly didn't look that big up in the sky.

Oh, you know, now I think it's time we take them to the wood chipper.

We might have to make them in a little bit smaller pieces, but then we can take

them to the wood chipper.

This is going to be so much fun.

Oh, here we go. Right here. Ready?

is the wood chipper and it's really an amazing piece of machinery so right here

this is where the branches go in right in there you'll see two big rotary drums

with the really cool teeth on them and what they do is they rotate and they

the limbs in this thing can chop up limbs extremely thick and they can do it

really really fast too that's so awesome seeing this thing in action oh and

check this out this

It's like the safety bar. If you pull it out, the rotary barrels, they spin

inward. So it pulls all of the branches inside.

And if something gets stuck or jammed in there, you can actually take it and

push it in.

And the barrels, they spin outward.

That means it can pull things backwards.

So if anything gets jammed or stuck inside, they can push this bar and it

reverse it. Or they can pull the bar.

and they can make it go forward again.

That's great.

Now this wood chipper operates on hydraulics.

Look. What are all these hydraulic hoses?

The rotary barrel, they spin on hydraulics and they raise and lower on

hydraulics. Even the chipper on the inside works off of hydraulics.

Isn't that great?

Well, I think we might need to get this thing turned on. Let me show you how we

turn it on. Come on.

Right here.

In this box right here.

Check this out.

Got a key, just like a car.

We can turn it on and get this thing started.

Oh, wow.

Look at that.

Do you know what that is?

It's the chute.

And that blows all of the wood chippings in the back of the truck. Oh,

wow. And it actually spins.

from the left or the right.

That way we can evenly distribute it in the back of the truck.

I wonder what's back there. Let's look.

Oh, wow.

Look at all of that.

We've got leaves and a bunch of wood chips.

Oh, that's great.

This is amazing.

I cannot wait to see all this stuff in action.

Let's get going. Come on.

All right, we're at the wood chipper.

Now we've got to get it turned on and see how this thing works.

Here we go.

Oh, wow.

That's awesome.

Let's take this thing out. Come on.

All right, here we go.

We're going to take our limb and stick it into the wood chipper.

Got to be really, really careful.

Got to stay away from that inside there. Come on.

Check it out.

You see the two wheels?

That's what pulls it in.

Isn't this wood chipper absolutely amazing?

It can chip a tree branch in no time. It's so quick.

But you got to make sure that you're kind of safe around it whenever you're

operating it. Got to make sure you got your hard hat on.

Your safety glasses.

That way nothing can get into your eyes.

And your gloves.

And some really cool awesome boots on too. So I can protect my feet.

It's a really cool job.

Oh, look.

They're bringing in the bucket truck.

Got to reach them pretty high limbs.

This is going to be great.

Going up in the bucket truck.

See, Sean is wearing a safety harness to keep him extra safe while he's high up

in the trees.

This is going to be so much fun to watch.

I could watch this all

day.

This is awesome.

Can you see?

He's up in the bucket. Yep. He's got his chainsaw.

And what he's doing is he's trimming some of these branches and some of these

limbs away from the house. Oh, maybe to let in a little bit more sunlight.

This is great.

Oh, yeah.

Let's get it.

Oh, yes.

All right, let's see if we can get it so we can drag it out.

It's a little hefty.

Let's see if we can loosen it up some.

All right, there we go.

Loosen the knot.

There we go.

All right.

Sweet. Perfect.

There we go.

Now, let's drag it out of here.

There we go. Come on.

Let's take this thing to the wood tipper.

Guess we might need to get these to the wood chipper.

Oh, come on.

Let's go. Oh, yeah.

Those branches are so big.

This works great.

Oh, there we go. There goes almost missing one.

Yep, I think this is it.

This is the one.

Oh, my friends, we have been hired to cut this tree down today.

It actually got struck by lightning, so it's not living anymore.

Look, even the bark is coming off. Can you see that? Oh,

it's a little hollow, too.

Also, we've got to get this tree down, and the handyman, he's got a plan.

I've got my chainsaw.

Wow.

It's amazing.

But safety first. You've got to know all about a chainsaw.

Of course, you've got to make sure there's an adult with you because it's

sharp. Look at this.

We've got the chain on here. Can you see that?

And that's where the little blades are that cuts the tree.

And it's attached to this part. This is called the bar.

And it holds the chain in place.

We'll see.

Place for some gas here.

Let's make sure we've got some gas in there.

Let's see. Oh, yep.

We've got that.

That's good to go.

Yep. Got to pump it up.

All right.

Oh, and then we've got our trigger here, right?

And that's what actually makes the blade and the chain spin around.

And, of course, we've got to have our hand guard, right?

Just in case.

And that's where our hand goes. Then we hold it just like this.

Oh.

Safety first though. We need some more stuff. Check this out.

I got some really awesome things.

Got my safety glasses.

Gotta have that to protect our eyes.

Check out this helmet.

This is made specifically for someone to cut down trees.

Oh yeah. Let's try this on.

Look at it.

It even has a face guard.

Oh yep.

Protect our face from all kinds of flying debris.

And look, it even has earmuffs.

Hello? Can you hear me?

That way, we can protect our ears from the sound of the chainsaw since we're so

close to it.

Well, this is going to be great.

All right, so first thing we've got to do is find the perfect spot to lay it

down at.

We've got to look up. Oh, let's move this out of the way.

Oh, we've got to look up and see.

Let's see where there's not that many trees, nothing to catch it as it falls.

That's not going to be a good way.

Oh, there's a tree right there, so we can't lay it there.

There's some buildings on that side. We can't let it fall that way. Oh, this

looks perfect.

Some nice open space.

There's no trees to catch it.

I think we'll cut it down this way.

All right, well, let's get started.

Get those on.

Nice and secure.

Perfect. All right, let's crank it up. Let's see. We're going to pull this.

Let's make sure that's good. That's good. All right, here we go.

Oh, one more.

Look.

We made our first cut.

It's the wedge.

Look.

Wow.

Now, what we have to do is we have to cut one line on the back side here.

Right? And what happens is this acts as a hinge.

Right? And it's just going to fold down like a hinge. And it's going to land

right over there.

Are you ready?

Let's go.

Here's the glasses.

Earmuffs.

Face guards.

Let's go.

Here it goes. It's starting to trip over.
