It's huge.

You know, they use semi -trucks for all kinds of stuff, like hauling supplies.

Oh, lumber.

All kinds of goods all over the country.

We need to check out this engine first.

Make sure it's good to go.

All right, let's whack this right here.

There we go. There's one on this side, and there's one on the other side.

Let's check out this engine.

Oh, wow.

Oh, wow.

It's a big hood.

Oh, wow. All right, look at this.

It's a huge engine.

Well, let's get to checking it. Let's see.

First, we got our oil right here.

So we might need to check our oil to make sure it's good to go.

Check out this really cool dipstick.

we got to make sure that this truck It's ready for the open road because

sometimes semi -trucks have to travel really, really far.

Got to make sure their engines are just right so they don't break down.

Oh, that's perfect.

We even got our fuel filter.

That's for that. Oh, that's our power steering fluid.

and our coolant for our radiator.

That's the air filter.

It's huge.

Everything in here looks great. Let's close the hood.

Wow. This is huge.

Look at this grill.

Humongous. Oh, and look.

We even got the really cool rear view mirrors.

So we got these rear view mirrors and these side view mirrors here too.

Got to make sure we can see all around the truck at all times.

Of course, having a humongous engine like this, it's got to take a lot of

That's a lot of fuel.

Inside of this truck is awesome. Oh, yeah, this is great.

First, let's crank it up.

This is great.

This truck's got some really cool stuff with it.

We've got our gear shift right here.

It's got our drive, our neutral, and our reverse.

That's good.

And then, oh, we've got our brakes here. We've got a brake for our trailer out

back. Let's see. Even our trailer has an air supply.

That's nice.

Oh, and we have our parking brake for our actual truck.

That's really cool.

It's even got a horn. Let's check it out.

Wow, that's awesome.

Really cool.

It's got a special horn.

It's operated by this string.

It's called an air horn.

Wow. Up on top of the truck, there's these silver cylinders, and that's where

the sound comes from. Let's try it again.

Oh, that's amazing.

Can I picture myself driving down the road and pulling the horn? That's great.

Oh, look.

It's even got a radio.

Oh, yeah. I like this tune. This is great.

My seat, it's even got some controls.

It's an air seat, so I can put air in it to lift it up, and I can let the air

out. Can you hear that?

That lowers the seat.

I've got to make sure that I'm really, really comfortable out on the open road

for these long trips.

You know, sometimes truck drivers have to eat on the road, and it's probably

of the coolest.

Features in this truck.

It's a sauce cup holder for our chicken nuggets.

I really like that. That way I can dip them and I can be safe.

Because we have to make sure that we are safe on the open road.

When we travel all these long trips, you know, sometimes we might even get

sleepy. This truck has something really cool.

It's called a sleeper. Check this out.

Oh, that gear.

We have a bed.

We can lay down.

Oh, this is cool.

It's nice and comfortable. We've got a place for a TV.

We've got some shelves for some snacks.

That's cool.

Oh, and this right here.

You can pull these to block out all of the light so we can take a nap.

Let me show you the backside of this truck.

Look at these.

Have you ever seen these dangling?

While you're driving down the road on the backside of a semi -truck? They're

really, really cool.

They actually connect to the trailer.

They're color coordinated. We've got green.

We've got blue and red.

It's for the air brake.

And also for the lights on the back side of the trailer. It's really cool.

Oh, look.

Look at all of these tires and wheels.

There's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

Oh, wait.

9 and 10.

There's 10 tires on this truck.

But hold on a minute.

We've got more on the trailer. So let's see, let's see. That's 10.

That's 11 and 12.

13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18.

There's 18 wheels on this truck and the trailer.

I guess that's why we call it an 18 -wheeler.

That's awesome. They're huge.

Look at this, though.

This right here is called the fifth wheel.

We've got all this grease on here.

Makes it easier for the trailer to attach right here.

When it goes right there in that spot, it's something called the kingpin.

It's really, really, really cool.

And we've got these things right here. I don't know if you can see them or not.

Can you see those?

Those are the airbags.

And we have four of them.

Why do we have airbags on the back of a truck?

It's because they raise and lower the fifth wheel to get it to the right

to attach the trailer onto it. Oh, that's great.

Wow, we're really learning a lot about these trucks today.

I guess we might need to go get our trailer and fill it up. Come on, let's

This is what attaches to the fifth wheel.

That's what holds the trailer up to get the truck up underneath it. When you can

see the bar there, we can raise it and lower it. That's pretty cool.

Oh, and way back here in the back, you can see the wheels.

There's eight of them.

That's totally awesome.

Well, I think we got to get it attached.

We got to have our safety goggles on. Oh, those are cool.

And we got to make sure we have gloves on, too.

So what's the first thing you got to do back here? All right. So the first thing

we look for is make sure we're hooked up. We're going to go up in here.

And we make sure that we're hooked up up in here.

The fifth wheel and the kingpin are locked in. And then we can hook up

everything. Awesome.

And so which color is for which?

Okay.

Green is for electric.

So green is for your light?

Yes, sir. Oh, that's cool.

And these are the air. This is what releases all the brakes so we can go

the road.

All right, now we roll up our landing gear.

This is called a landing gear.

And you just roll it?

Oh, wow. Oh, check it out.

Can you see? The landing gear's raising up.

That's awesome.

And so how far?

We're going to lock it back in place. Awesome. And then what we'll do, we'll

walk around and make sure all our lights are working.

sorts of things, right? Yes, sir. Kind of like all kinds of paper products,

Oh, now we're pulling up under these big, huge green canisters.

Well, this is where the wood chips are.

Yes, sir. Oh, this looks really, really awesome.

Chips is going to fall down. The chips are going to fall into our truck.

belt into these big urns.

That means that's a lot of paper products.

We're driving through the lumber yard of Canberra Southern Pine.

Wow, look at that huge grapple lifting all those trees.

Jonathan is now showing us all the amazing equipment that they use here and

products that they make.

Look, it's another semi -truck.

Hey there.

That was an awesome tour.

We've got the trailer loaded.

Now we need to cover it with the tarp. That way whenever we're on our long

nothing falls out. All right, Mr. Johnson, so all we have to do is hit

buttons, right? Let me close it. The O is for open.

And the C is for close, right? So we got to close it. So we're going to hit the

C. Here we go.

Oh, it's closing the top. And they're putting the top over it.

Well, we really cool trucks are awesome and they rule. When I grow up big and

strong, I hope to drive one too.
