I recognize the seal, so it could date

That large boulder looks intriguing.

We've uncovered a big void right there.
What is underneath that boulder?

We put cameras in VN 13 .5. What we
found to Jeff, human origin.

It really seems like it's a depositor.
Wow.

There is an island in the North Atlantic
where people have been looking for an

incredible treasure for more than 200
years.

So far, they have found a stone slab
with strange symbols carved into it, man

-made workings that date to medieval
times, and a lead cross whose origin may

connected to the Knights Templar.

To date, six men have died trying to
solve the mystery.

And, according to legend, one more will
have to die before the treasure

can be found.

The critical intersection right here,
guys. Yeah.

What we should see beneath the peacock
is loose material. Our targets are the

possible void at 148 feet, and then the
solution channel below that.

Right. A new day on Oak Island brings
fresh hope for Rick and Marty Lagina

that their team is closing in on the
answers to a 231 -year -old treasure

mystery. Really, the end goal is to get
down to the solution channel and see if

there's a potential treasure there. But
I also believe that we're close to a

chamber here. Right.

In a location of the Money Pit area
known as the Peacock, the team is

borehole DN13 just a few feet northwest
of borehole BN13 .5.

It was there that one week ago, the
drill entered a possible man -made

some 150 feet deep, which sets more than
20 feet above the solution channel.

You can make it almost like a wall or
something like that there. When you move

away from it, you kind of go into more
of an opening here.

After inserting a camera, evidence was
revealed of a possible artificial wall.

Show me the money. And a potential
opening to a larger cavity.

We've got an opening.

This made them wonder if an offset
treasure chamber connected to the

money pit has been discovered.

Now, while the team waits to view
enhanced video images of the mysterious

they hope to drill into the larger
nearby cavity and confirm if it indeed

man -made chamber.

Oh, look.

Yeah, something's going on over there.
Yeah.

Rod's belt. He just dropped.

That's really fast, man.

Here he comes.

That means somewhere between 118 and 128
we went into the soft area.

So in core of the peacock, I've always
believed, is going to be a structure.

Because of the loose soil, when we see
those rods drop, that tells us maybe

we're close to seeing the structure that
we all hope we're going to encounter.

We're going to track that down into the
solution channel. You know, there's

plenty of places down there for a
treasure to hide.

No question.

We'll move on to the more interesting
levels.

Yeah. As the core drilling pushes deeper
in the Money Pit area.

That mountain's getting higher and
higher.

continue investigating the southwest
corner of the triangle -shaped swamp.

After this, I feel like we only have one
little section left behind us. Yeah.

In recent weeks, the team has been
uncovering a mysterious stone road -like

feature that may be connected to a
similar structure that was found several

yards to the north earlier this year.

Curiously, eight -sided wooden survey
sticks were found lining both of these

features.

And the team also recovered old ox
shoes, suggesting the roads may have

used to move heavy cargo into the swamp.

Get in there. Okay.

So this corner is almost done. What we
did learn is we have a possible path or

road to follow.

And the hope is that there will be some
artifacts that can be dated.

And then maybe we can figure out who
made these features and why.

this area, I think.

Everywhere we turn in the swamp, we're
finding stakes, and that must mean

something. Yep, it has to.

And my question is, where are we going
next? Because I know that there are

areas of interest.

right now.

You have three data points that
seemingly line up. An unknown road,

shoes, then you have the stakes.

And who knows what else is after that.

If there's a road, where does it go?

Right now, Steve has projected it to go
toward the north end of the bog.

So now it gives us some insight as to
where to go next.

And that's every bit as important as an
artifact.

Yeah. We've got to get back to do some
homework.

We need to talk to Tom Nolan about where
to go next.

As the team works on new plans for
digging in the swamp, later that day.

I'm always grateful to come into the
lab. I think we learn so many things

and I'm impressed by these two finds
from Lot 8.

In the Oak Island lab, Rick and members
of the team join Laird Niven and Emma

Culligan to hear a scientific report on
a possible iron knife handle and a lead

bag seal that were found on Lot 8 one
week ago.

The iron is kind of more of the
mysterious piece, so we'll start there.

And you can see that wood -like grain
structure on it, so it is hand -forged.

But what is interesting is the shape of
it.

So it came in as a possible knife
handle, and it does have some features

being like the scale of a knife handle.

But it could also have been used as a
multi -tool.

Why the round hole at the base and the
square hole above?

So this could have been used as a
fastener to hold something in place, a

Pivot point.

But this section right here, I can find
components that are similar to other

tools, but nothing like this. Okay. And
the composition is clean, so it's post

-medieval, pre -mid -1800. So it does
fit within the 1700s. Yep.

It's very peculiar.

You know, it's possible Carmen might
have an idea as to what that represents.

Yeah. But the next item.

What does it tell us?

It's a bag seal.

Dating back to as early as the 13th
century, lead bag seals were fasteners

to contain large quantities of goods in
heavy cloth packages.

I recognized an element of it right
away, which was basically a suspended

dead sheep.

I found an existing example of...

of this seal, and that is the only
example we could find.

So this is the city seal of Leeds in
England.

What a macabre design.

I know. It's so grim.

So this would have been a seal on a
finished bale of fabric.

So that implies that it arrives on the
islands as a bale, and that was taken

on Lot 8.

Wow.

Leeds in the 16th, 17th, and 18th
century was like the wool manufacturing

in England.

And basically Britain was built around
wool.

Oh, really? Yeah.

That begs the question, what time
period?

The Leeds wool industry goes back to the
1300s.

So it could date earlier.

The lead wool industry goes back to the
1300s. Wow.

In the Oak Island lab, Laird has just
confirmed that the lead bag seal found

Lot 8 originated in England and could be
as much as 700 years old.

When you say bale, I picture something
of great quantity, though.

Let's say the size of this isn't
probably that much. So big.

Like a hay bale. Yeah.

Isn't that a lot of fabric for a
singular household?

That's the problem.

A singular household, you're going to
those people and buying your clothes.

Why on the island? Here on the island,
there were limited families.

Yeah. Bag seals are not uncommon in
North America, but they're usually

associated with trade, like a fort.
You're finding a lot of these because

making uniforms, but you're also trading
cloth.

So this is our third bail seal.

Now we have three from different areas,
so why is it there?

Previously, the team found a lead bag
seal on Lot 5 and another on Lot 32,

yards from the possible stone road that
was recently uncovered in the southwest

corner of the swamp.

Astonishingly, that bag seal was
scientifically matched to the 14th

cross, which is believed to be
connected.

to the Knights Templar.

There's an up going on in Lot 8 that I'd
like to look closer to take a good look

at what's out there.

Could be something else that we're not
aware of.

So to that end, I think we need to get
back out there.

We have to get to work.

You have to find things and I will help
you dig.

That sounds like a plan.

The next day, while drilling continues
in the Money Pit area.

You are of firm belief that there are
answers to the Oak Island mystery that

reside within the bog.

How can you deny it? No matter how you
look at it, somebody did an immense

amount of work in that bog.

Rick meets with fellow Oak Island
landowner Tom Nolan and other members of

team in the research center to plan
their next dig in the swamp.

I think the north end of the bog in
terms of the size and the amount of

a very confined space was quite exciting
and incredibly interesting and

incredibly confusing.

The amount of stakes that we found, all
of uniform size, uniform strikes in

terms of making the sharpened end, eight
strokes, and when you look at it as

they're plotted, it's meaningful.

Oh, very meaningful.

Somebody was trying to leave a path.

Mm -hmm. Mm -hmm. Yeah.

Before uncovering the stone features in
the western and southwestern areas of

the swamp this year, working with Tom on
his property in the northern region,

the team previously discovered very
similar stone structures and several

-sided survey stakes leading to an empty
vault -like structure.

Yeah, the so -called vault was
captivating in and of itself. I mean,

paths, roads, but that vault was quite
singular and unique.

Yeah.

Now, Rick and Tom want to know if all of
the stone structures they've uncovered

across the swamp are connected, and if
other vaults that still contain

valuable are waiting to be found.

The vault, to me, it was a hiding place.
It's in the perfect place to hide it

amongst vegetation and stuff where
people probably aren't going to go

Absolutely. If you are safeguarding
something, if you have something really

important, you're not going to put all
your eggs in one basket.

Right. And you're going to have one,
two, three more.

My hope is that there's a backup vault.

Yep. Ready to put the bucket in the
ground and see what's under it.

Well, there's no time like the present,
right?

So I say we get out there. Let's go.

Following the meeting in the research

I think we should start here, take this
apart, and then once we get across that,

just keep going to the other part of the
bog. Yep. The team begins searching for

new clues in the northern region of the
swamp.

Gary, it's going to be up to you to find
whatever artifacts are here.

For real? We're going to find it. Okey

You know, the swamp has been enigmatic
because virtually every time we dig in

there, we find something.

And not just something. We find things
that you wouldn't suspect would be in a

swamp. We find things that could very
well be related to the mystery of what

happened here.

We're close to the line where you found
all the stakes.

There's your thing right there.

Probably right there.

What is it inside it?

Two, three, four, five.

Six.

Seven. There's one there. There's your
eight sides.

Wow.

They drove that down deep for some
reason.

That's got to be really, really old.

Last year, these eight -sided stakes led
us to a fault. The stakes are a puzzle

unto themselves.

There's every belief that as the stakes
continue to be found, at some point we

will have an explanation as to why.

That's where it was, right there.

We're going to have to get Steve out to
pin it right now before we move it,

unless you can dig around it, huh?

Dig on this side and that side?

Maybe they can help explain the
structures that have already been found.

You're standing on it. I'm literally
standing on it. You're literally

That's where it was. The hole is right
there. Okay. The hole is what we want.

And like everything else, we're a foot
and a half above sea level.

And actually, most stakes that we have
found in the swamp have been a foot and

half above sea level.

They've been very consistent, which to
me means a lot of them have probably

in the same time period. And that would
be pretty interesting.

that a group of individuals did the

work, implying a reason, implying
planning.

Maybe it is connected to the vault that
we've discovered.

I'm hoping that there are clues that
will lead us to new discoveries.

wherever the last pile came from. Would

have been on the bottom. He was scraping
bottom.

What is that?

In the northern region of the swamp,
Gary has just found an intriguing

That's like a snake.

A latch off a gate or a door.

It would be inside an opening, and you'd
put your thumb on it, and you'd open

the gate.

In England, we call it a gatesnake. It's
more than likely hand -forged.

This looks really, really old.

A possible gate latch found in the
northern section of the swamp?

It's a great thought.

Your thumb fits in there perfectly, the
latch springs up. Yeah.

Because these fixtures have been in use
this far back at the 13th century, just

how old might this artifact be?

And could it be related to a structure
that might be buried in this area?

Well, it's a great sign.

An old piece of iron came from at the
bottom of the dig. Yeah, that was down

deep.

I'll put it in the bag. Yeah, that's a
good find.

Yep.

Okay. Well, there we are, pal.

What have you found, Tom?

A piece of pottery.

But it's green.

Green and blue. You don't usually see
that color.

No.

That decoration is unique, too.

This area with the green and the blue
glazed pottery, it could match

another area where the archaeologists
have found it. I know it's been found

before.

I think some green and blue came off the
Lot 26 wall as well when the

archaeologists were investigating,
taking the wall apart.

You have to find artifacts.

Okay, get on that.

In 2022, the team investigated a rock
wall on Lot 26 because

it was much larger and wider than a
number of others on the island that are

known to have been built by farmers in
the 19th century.

Incredibly, in addition to pottery,
charcoal was found in the wall that,

carbon -dated, suggested it could be
over 500 years old.

And when Portuguese researcher Francisco
Nogueira inspected it, he made a

fascinating observation.

This wall appears to be created in the
old Portuguese style of building rock

fences. No way!

Could this piece of pottery be the same
kind?

that was found in the wall on Lot 26.

If so, is it possible that the wall is
somehow related to the man -made

uncovered in the swamp?

We have a suggestion by experts that
some of the activities conducted here on

the island can be associated with the
Portuguese.

The stone road in the swamp has
Portuguese influence.

The stone wall has influences.

to put later a Portuguese Templar coin
that was possibly found in the money

It's a worthy consideration that they
all may have a connection to the

And we'll get these finds back to the
lab. I mean, we've had a great start to

the dig in this area.

Yep. It shows there's things to be found
here, right? Yeah, I agree.

We just have to keep plugging away.
Yeah.

All right, Al, we'll take her down quite
a bit more here.

Later that day... So this is what I
wanted to show you.

You've got this large boulder. Yep.

Which is uncommon.

After looking around the area on Lot 8,
where the lead bag seal was found, Laird

has made a potentially important
discovery.

We're not seeing it around here a lot,
that size.

But then I started seeing the number of
stones that are around it, perhaps

filling in something.

Mm -hmm.

Even the berm over there, that could
indicate digging.

It looks like someone was filling in a
pit.

Actually, if you look again, the rocks
seem to go further off to the east.

Look, the more I see.

Yep.

Could Laird be correct that someone
deliberately filled in a pit around this

massive boulder with soil and smaller
rocks?

But if so, who did it?

And... For what purpose?

You know, it appears as though there's a
ring of stones around the boulder.

Yeah.

It's not unusual to find a boulder on
Oak Island. But even more interesting

the ground -level rock feature around
it.

My immediate thought was that this was a
possible filled -in foundation that

we're not aware of.

I don't know the relationship between
that large boulder and this.

Some stone formations, yeah.

But I think it's definitely worth
exploring.

It's interesting. There's no doubt about
it.

Yeah, Lotte does intrigue me.

But then you and Katja recently found
the bag seal. Correct.

Which is another really intriguing
artifact. I know its function, but why

here? And then we find this huge boulder
and these rocks.

It does make me think that we need to
really analyze it.

It's certainly unique, and like you
said, you can see the raised areas

everywhere, right? Yeah. Here, here,
there.

This would have been quite an effort by
someone if this really is a hand -built

construction. Yeah.

So I think what we'll do, we're going to
clear it off, clear the whole area off

to get a good idea of what it looks
like, and then hopefully taking a

from it.

Sure.

This may provide a very unique
opportunity to try to understand not

lot, but the entire island.

You know, not every stone on this island
means something, but some of them do.

And this may be one of those times.

If it's been filled in, there might be
something hidden that would break the

story open.

At this point, the archaeologists need
to get to work.

This is surely worth investigating.

You laid out a very proper approach.

a nice big lump right behind Ethan.

That's a good sign. There was digging
for whatever reason, and then it got

filled in.

You've got this huge rock in the middle.
Like, I find that strange as well.

I think we still have to at least...

define the edges as we go all the way
around the boulder. Okay, good.

To me, this site is one of the strangest
sites I've been on. It doesn't make any

sense that someone would come and
excavate and then fill it back full of

It's brutal work.

So I find it very unusual, and I can't
wait to...

get the excavation deeper, and hopefully
answer some of these questions.

It's a piece of wood. Does that look
like that top's been cut before? I

Doesn't look like it got snapped off.
No, that's what I'm thinking. I think

that... If that was cut, then that could
have been cut by whoever created

whatever this is.

Yeah, I could see that. I mean, that was
deep. That was underneath all these

roots that I've been pulling up. So that
is not something that was on the

surface. Okay. If this was cut, that
would have been years ago. Many years

That's what I'm thinking.

The sticks that had cut marks on them,
that's another evidence of cultural

activity happening there. Okay, we
better keep our eye out for stuff like

20 feet through the solution channel.

void that was discovered nearly 150 feet

The drilling operation in borehole DN13
has now reached the solution channel.

At least we have intercepted the bottom
of the solution channel in this hole.

She's a full -on anaconda, ladies and
gentlemen.

This is the last gasp, I think, since
we're on bedrock.

Let's see what we got here in front of

This up here actually was a little bit
loose.

Actually, it got a little loose between
184 and 188, so I think we're ready for

the pinpointer.

This is the more promising upper
portion, which is quite slushy.

It's clear, gentlemen.

Well, it's not the ending we hoped for
for DN13.

We've had all kinds of success in this
area, with metals being in all the water

testing. So we'll take a soil sample
back to the lab, and maybe, just maybe,

there'll be some hope with this borehole
yet.

I can't believe we've missed an open
void at 150 -ish feet.

If we can prove that there's metals in
the soil here.

And that's through testing through Dr.
Spooner and testing in the lab with

We can prove that this is potentially
still a treasure location.

We'll move on and we'll go back to the
heart of the peacock. And let's try to

get back in that void.

enhancement expert Bob Brown from
ProHawk Technology Group.

The reason for this meeting is in being
13 .5, we put the camera down and

sonar. It showed a void.

The thought was to give it to ProHawk to
enhance the data that we've given them.

So having said that, Bob, welcome to the
war room.

Here's a little of the footage.

ProHawk Technology Group has worked with
the team several times in the past,

using their proprietary software to
clarify underwater video images

from deep in the Money Pit area.

This one was really interesting.

Really, there were distinct things that
we kind of noticed in the imagery.

So we found this to be quite
interesting.

stake -like pointed objects, right?

It just looked arranged and the shape,
the tapering, the alignment

appears deliberate and would suggest
plank stake something,

you know, of human origin rather than
the natural environment.

You know, I can see a layering effect in
there that It does look man -made.

Mm -hmm.

We are all intrigued.

It would defy logic that those could be
represented geologically.

It's different, unexplainable, really.

I mean, you guys are dealing with
cutting -edge technology here. Yeah.

I still need to be convinced, but it
makes the peacock area that much more

interesting, and I think that's what we
have to go off of.

Then there were definitely these
distinct square geometry patterns

many portions of the video.

The edges, the uniformity of it, and you
take it all together and it really

begins to add up. So there's something
that's not organic.

Another area we found, there was a
bright, reflective rectangle.

Right? It's got sharp edges. It's highly
reflected.

So that would lead us to believe that
there's some type of metallic or

quality that's causing the reflection.

A possible rectangular metal object?

Has the team indeed found a man -made
chamber some 150 feet underground in the

Peacock? Well, yeah. I mean, this is
really keenly interesting.

If so, could it contain the source of
the precious metals that have been

detected in water deep in the Money Pit
area?

Bob, if you had to say how likely at
least one of these is a man -made

what would you say?

I'd put it over 90%. Wow.

viewing enhanced video of a potentially
man -made cavern some 150 feet deep in

the Money Pit area.

It really came down to geometry,
precision, consistency.

The arrangements, the materials, they
strongly suggested man -made origins.

It's just really compelling evidence.

An open void is highly unlikely to be
natural for the depth that we're looking

at, right?

Correct. Is there any geologic
explanation for this? Because I can't

think of one.

I would say this is my working premise,
that the peacock is the washout around a

structure. And perhaps we're seeing into
that structure from our actual

borehole. I mean, it's deeper than any
searcher, and if there are weird

anomalous features that ProHawk's
picking up, it really seems like it's a

depositor. Yeah.

I am taken aback by the number of things
being represented in such a small,

confined space.

He saw several items that represented
very linear 90 -degree angles that we've

been told many, many times that that
doesn't happen in nature.

And I have no explanation for this
reflective image. I can only insinuate

it has something to do with metals being
underground.

Perhaps there is a man -made reason for
those highly unconsolidated soils from

the peacock.

This would strongly suggest that the
offset chamber is a valid explanation.

this area is quite compelling.

Well, I mean, does this look like a
jumble of stuff that could have

It could have collapsed, yes.

Okay, we should jump up and down about
this data, right, guys? I mean, we're

seeing man -made objects or strong
indications of it in an area where we

have any indication of any searchers.
This is the kind of thing that we set

to find. You know, for sure we have to
explore this further, but that's pretty

dramatic.

The peacock still has very elevated
amounts of silver and some other metals

it. So here's the point. The source of
these metals in the water is still there

and hasn't been found.

But maybe we just found it.

There's definitely evidence of the
stones being deliberately placed around

outside and underneath a huge erratic
boulder. Such a big rock could be

something that was used for a marker. It
could be something that you'd want to

hide things under. So it's just so out
of the ordinary that we need a little

more evidence before we can make that
full determination.

It's on a piece of wood.

I don't know if it's cut, though.

Look at that bottom.

Yeah.

That does not look like it's broken. I
would say that's cut.

It was wedged right in there in between
the rock.

These are the type of things we need to
look out for. It could tell us a lot

about the age of the feature.

Yeah, it looks like a void down there.

Got a big void down there. And you would
not expect to see a big void like that

right there.

No, not with the size of the rock and
how loose the soil was.

This large boulder is getting more and
more interesting because as we're going,

we're seeing more and more spaces that
are underneath the rock. And this really

shouldn't be the case. That really
speaks to what they were doing here.

it's very evident that man has been
involved with this boulder to some

It's just a matter of why they were
there or whether they were doing

to hide something in that area.

Well, that's a good indication of
possible disturbance.

I really think that Rick might be very
interested in this. Yeah.

They are artfully applied, if you will,
but there is a stone, then a space, then

a stone, then a space.

Mother Nature wouldn't do that. So human
beings were involved in doing some work

in this area, specifically directed to
this stone.

This may have been completely unknown to
previous searchers.

It's exciting. We need to find out what
is underneath that boulder.

I can't imagine how you could explain
that other than they were placed there.

That should be filled up. I would think
so. I mean, if you wanted to hide

something there, you move something like
this in place.

stone. Just look at it. This could be a

great marker stone.
