Careless whispers

Give you infinite solace

Like flowers blooming in the spring

Full of tender loving care

Repeated advice

Harboring infinite expectations

Consoling your lonely soul

Full of tender loving care

Flowers bloom and wither

As time goes by

People come and go

Love will never die

Whisper and advice

Awaken the illusions

Life is magnificent

Full of tender loving care

You should go wash your face

instead of smoking out here

You've worked all day, you should get some rest

I'm fine. It's your 60th birthday today

I cooked dinner for the family

You did it all by yourself?

Pei Qiong helped me

Didn't she go to work?

She took a few days off

This daughter-in-law is wonderful

Your presents are in the room

Shu Fen

How long have we been married?

Why do you ask?

Do you still remember?

Do you?

32 years...

You've worked hard all these years!

So did you!

You scared me, Dad!

You always creep up on him

Now it's his turn

You're getting a taste of your own medicine

I must go help Pei Qiong

Don't pout! I can hang a bottle on those lips!

You know what day it is?

Yes!

Guess what I've bought you?

For me?

You're just spending my money!

No! I saved up my pocket money!

Really? What is it?

Close your eyes!

Crouch down!

Presbyopic glasses!

You said yours don't work very well

Is this better?

Yes! Much better!

When I couldn't see so clearly ...

You looked so pretty

Now with this new pair

I can see better

And now you appear so ugly!

You're despicable!

Dad...

Happy birthday!

Look at you! You're too old for this!

Aren't you ashamed?

I didn't make him, he wanted to hug me!

You look so pretty today!

Really?

Your outfit is as pretty as you!

That's for sure!

Our whole family is good looking

I guess that includes you!

Let me take a good look at you

You're an ugly duckling!

Whose school bag is this?

Brother!

Did you leave it lying around?

If you were my student

you'll never graduate

Give me a break!

Thank God I'm not one of your students!

Don't pull rank on me!

You're so disagreeable!

Zhi Wen, you're late tonight!

I had a meeting at the school

on the topic of 'generation gap'

Dinner is ready!

Why is Xiu Zhu so late?

The Hu's have strict house rules

They're ridiculous!

Don't say that!

Let's eat while we wait!

Let's wait a bit longer

That must be her!

You're so late!

We've been waiting for you!

Mom!

How are you?

Fine! Dad!

This is from George!

Thanks...

Sit down!

Zhi Wen, do say a few words on this special occasion

Today's is Dad's 60th birthday

Let's have a toast

to his health and longevity

Sit...

I'll drink to their eternal love!

Xiao Xiao, that's only for newlyweds!

Says who?

They were holding hands in the garden

How sweet!

Don't be silly!

I must thank Mom and Dad

for bringing me to this world

Drink up...

Let's eat!

He's the only one missing

Worried about Zhi Yuan again?

It'd be perfect if he were here

In his letter he promised he'll be back

Perhaps the ship was delayed

I'll act on his behalf

To do what?

Eat!

The way you gobble down meat

you'll weigh 300 pounds in no time!

You needn't worry even if I'm 600 pounds

I ain't, but then you would be!

No one will marry you!

Thanks for the warning. Here's a piece for you!

What is this?

The chicken's butt!

You brat!

Dad, George has things to do

we must go now

I'm sorry...

But you haven't touched your food!

I must go

Eat something!

Yes!

I'll come again

George!

You forgot something!

What is it?

Your diaper!

I'm going!

It's you!

Xiu Zhu!

You're leaving!

Yes!

Zhi Yuan is back!

Brother!

You're back!

Zhi Yuan is back!

You're here!

Hi, Mom!

Hello!

Dad!

Zhi Yuan!

Hi, everyone!

How are you?

Why don't you ask about me?

You?

Dad was just thinking of you

The ship broke down in Japan, I flew back!

I bought this for you in Switzerland

It's your birthday present

Good!

It's a musical watch, interesting!

Come, come... let's eat!

You're so tanned!

I've been keeping fit

Dad, here's a toast to you!

Have you been all over the world now?

Just about!

I'd love to travel around the world too

Too bad we have no female sailors

Then I'll be an air stewardess

Don't talk nonsense!

Zhi Yuan, don't go back on the ship

it's too dangerous!

Don't worry, I'm used to it!

What have you learnt on the ship?

It's been an eye-opening experience!

It's nothing but cursory observation!

Sailing is like a social university

you can learn a lot

Getting an education is more practical!

But...

Let's eat, food is getting cold!

I'll have another piece of meat!

I doubt if I'll ever weigh 600 pounds!

I wanted you to go to college!

It's for your own good!

Without a proper education

you don't have a future

You should start planning ahead

There's nothing wrong with sailing

There's a good future in it!

Would you rather

roam around all your life?

I have my dream

What dream is that? Don't be so naive!

I know what I'm doing

You don't know anything! You just think you do!

I've arranged for you to go to college

Dad, please don't compel me!

Compel you!

Am I wrong to send you to college?

No! I just don't want to go!

I've taken much trouble

to get you enrolled in a U.S. college

As regards the fees, I'll take care of it

I can't believe you're not going!

I'm mature enough to be on my own

instead of depending on you

You're making excuses!

Zhi Yuan, Dad has high hopes for you

don't let him down!

You can still work your way through college!

Why must you force me

to do something against my will?

Can't I do things my way?

Dad is worried about your future!

I'd like to blaze my own trail

Doing what?

You don't listen and turn down a good offer!

What do you want?

Everyone has own aspirations

I may not agree with you about what's right

just like you don't agree with me either!

Dad, we don't think alike!

I can't listen to you all the time!

So it's my fault

I never thought I'd hear you say this!

I'll stay out of your affairs from now on!

Zhi Yuan!

You should go to college!

Mom, leave me alone!

Zhi Yuan...

Who is it?

I'm looking for Su Shan

She has moved!

Someone is waiting for you

Come...

You..

Who is he?

What is this?

I've only been gone 3 months

and you're back working in the bar!

I gave you money before I left

I've also sent you money

Wasn't that enough?

My mom forced me to go back to work!

I wrote you over 10 letters!

Did you get them?

No!

No?

No!

Maybe my mom intercepted them!

Did you get my letters?

I got 5

But I wrote 9

I didn't get the later ones

I switched to a different route

Perhaps they got lost!

I've been waiting to hear from you!

I thought you have dumped me!

I would never do that!

It's just a misunderstanding!

Zhi Yuan!

I'm...

What is it?

I'm...

What is it, tell me!

I'm pregnant!

What?

I'm 3 months pregnant!

Is it possible?

You don't believe me?

You don't believe it's your child?

Ever since I was little

nobody loved me. Everyone picked on me!

I wanted to die until I met you

You were so kind to me

I felt like there's hope again!

Why won't you believe

that I'm having your baby?

I can't go back to the bar

I can't be with anyone else!

I've been waiting for you

Do you have regrets?

You think I'm not good enough for you?

Please say something!

I know I'm nobody

My life is a living hell!

I should just die!

Su Shan...

$200 for the night?

What do you mean?

You pay to stay at a hotel

and my daughter sleep with you!

She's worth more than this!

Give me money if you want your passport

You can't stay here! Go!

Where's Zhi Yuan?

Gone!

He can't stay here

for so little money!

You took his money?

His money? It's mine now!

That's $2000!

Give me...

No!

You...

Is Xu Zhi Yuan here?

Yes, who are you?

I'm a friend. Please give this to him!

Are you Su Shan?

Yes!

He told me about you. I'm his sister-in-law

Please come in

No, thanks. Bye!

Is that Zhi Yuan's girlfriend?

Looked like she's on the verge of tears!

I don't think so

She's pretty!

Don't tell Mom and Dad!

Zhi Yuan

Still angry?

As regards whatever happened last night

don't worry about it!

Dad won't leave me alone!

He's prejudiced and stubborn

It's only because he loves you

and has high expectations of you

I will not be coerced into anything!

What do you think?

Me?

It's hard to say!

You're siding with him!

Not really!

Everyone has a different path

that they must follow

You're right! Only you understand me!

Look at you! First you sulk

then you jump up and down. What a neurotic!

Little brat!

Someone was here for you!

Who?

I won't tell you unless you treat me

Alright, let's go see a movie

Leave that for your lover!

Sister!

She looks so sad but pretty!

Here!

Su Shan?

She brought this back!

Where is she now?

She didn't come in

You must have taken advantage of her!

I'm going after her!

Sister!

People in love are neurotics, right?

Nosy brat!

Zhi Yuan

I'll be right there!

Su Shan

Zhi Yuan

Su Shan

Zhi Yuan

I've made up my mind

I don't care what anyone thinks

or if anyone objects

we'll get married

What's the hurry?

Not me! It's him!

You're despicable!

I'm hesitant about meeting your family

They're actually very nice

Only my Dad is firm with me

Your sister-in-law is very kind

She's very understanding

I tell her everything

If you have any problems while I'm at sea

You can go to her

I thought your father wants you to go to college

All fathers are like that

They all want you to get a degree from abroad

Get a job and get married

Raise children and carry on the bloodline

Live a steady life

What's wrong with that?

Nothing! It's just not what I want!

I want to attain my own goals

Ans what might they be?

I don't know yet

What do you think?

I'm not like you

I believe in being practical

Whether you sail or go to college

I'll go along as long as it's good for you

I dropped out of high school

because I had to work!

But I had a dream too

Meaning?

Go to college and even study abroad!

Hey, what is it?

That boy! Since he came home

I've only seen him once!

He thinks nothing of this family!

He's grown now

Let him be if he hasn't made any big mistakes

You always correct the smaller mistakes

If he starts on the wrong foot

the result is unthinkable!

Don't be too hard on him!

He's still young

and thinks differently

You're more experienced and practical

He's idealistic and thinks further ahead

He's just dreaming

Times are different

It's time to let him go his own way

The harder you push, the harder he rebels

Then you're against me too!

In my opinion...

Zhi Wen, tell us...

Practicality usually leads to conservatism

By and by, you'll lose your grasp on reality

Idealism often forgoes practicality

In the end, you'll be lost and disappointed

So Zhi Yuan and I are equally guilty!

That's a great speech!

What do you know?

I'm not sure if I understand

But I think it makes sense!

Alright, my dear teacher

You're not in the classroom. Here's Zhi Yuan!

Dad

I need to talk to you

Have you given any thoughts to what I said?

I understand

Anything else?

You just go to college

I'll go

Happy now, old man?

Truth is still on my side!

I tread to the end of the world

I look out at the clouds

The past is still fresh on my mind

Where are you?

I can't forget the bitterness in your eyes

I understand your affection

that governs my dreams

They come and go too quickly

Ah...I'm searching for my first love

Ah...You left without a trace

Searching for the lingering echo

Turning my first love into eternal love

Turning my first love into eternal love

Are you hurt?

Does it hurt?

It's alright!

Wash the wound over there

Look at all the fish!

Be careful!

What will you do after graduation?

Go to college

I mean when you grow up

I want to rid the world of injustice!

How cocky!

You've been reading too many books on martial arts

What?

To become a swordsman

killing the bad guys with your sword?

Is that possible?

I'll go out to sea and get far away from here

How far can you go? To the moon?

I hate this society

Live in seclusion on a deserted island

and live on fresh air alone?

Don't make fun of me!

You're like my brother Zhi Yuan

Nothing and no one pleases him

I disagree. You're quite pleasing to the eye

Thank you so much, my angry young man

I'm serious...

Xiao Xiao

What happened?

Sister!

What is it?

Why are you crying?

What's the matter?

Xiao Xiao, what is it?

Tell me...

What's going on?

Speak up! What's wrong?

What's going on?

Tell us...

I...

Speak up!

Yes, hurry!

Did someone take advantage of you?

I'm in love!

What are you doing?

I must go find out!

You won't understand

Dad, leave this to me

Alright!

She gave me such a scare!

When I first met you

You gave my father a scare too!

Mom, let's go fishing down there!

Alright!

Be careful!

I will

What do you think of my boy?

Healthy and normal

But too energetic!

Young people are like that

We should give them space

But he doesn't always listen

An obedient child loses his character

Still, I worry about his future

All parents are like that

But times are different now

They have their own minds

They may not always listen to us

Parents nowadays

face so many more problems

Xiao Xiao is our youngest

Dad dotes on her, so he sent me to meet your son

I hope you won't mind

No! That's the way it should be!

Girls are always more worrisome!

Social morals are not what they used to be!

Absolutely!

About their dating

I have no opinion

except they're a bit too young

There's no need to worry

Let nature take its course

As long as it doesn't affect their studies

We're jogging along

We're jogging along

What kind of grass is this?

It's mimosa

It's sleeping

Shall I wake it up?

Don't be frivolous

I peek in from the side

The wind kisses its eyes

The birds chirping quietly

It stretches and yawns

Breaking into a broad smile

Do you know what's on its mind?

Thinking of you in a dream

The sensitive mimosa

Blushing and its heart is bounding

It closes its eyes

Intoxicated with love

The sensitive mimosa

Blushing and its heart is bounding

It closes its eyes

Intoxicated with love

We're here to fish, where's the fish?

Over there!

Don't move!

Here comes a big one!

Yes, really big one!

You're off work?

Are you going out?

A dinner engagement

Are you going alone?

It's a women's welfare dinner

You're the committee member

I'll be late, see you later

Later...

Pei Qiong

Did you just get back?

I need to talk to you

What is it?

Dad mentioned Zhi Yuan's tuition

He's worried about the money

But he's not leaving yet!

I know

But Dad wants to plan ahead

He doesn't want any surprises

He intends to cash-in his pension in advance

But the factory is in the red

Then we'll think of something

Tell him not to worry, we'll pay for it!

How much have we saved up?

About $10,000

But we paid for my mom's medical bills last year

It's your obligation

I've discussed with my brother

He spent his savings on his wedding

There's not much left. Come in!

You can sell these

Consider them my contribution

They belong to your wife!

Yes!

Does she know?

Don't worry, I'll talk to her

Let's go tell Dad, it'll ease his mind

That's my job

Shifting the burden onto you

makes me feel...

Don't say that!

You've done what you could for us

We should do something for Zhi Yuan

But it involved Pei Qiong!

How can that be?

She works hard for her money!

I'm a member of this family too

I should bear part of the burden!

Mom

I hope Zhi Yuan will study hard

Don't let him know about this

I don't want him to worry

Do we have enough now?

We're still a bit short!

I'll go see Xiu Zhu tomorrow

and see if she can help out

White Dragon!

Mom, sorry to keep you waiting!

Don't mind me!

How are you, Xiao Xiao?

Game!

You've become so thin!

Xiu Zhu

We dropped a tile, pick it up!

Quit the chit chat and wait on us!

Wait! I want that tile!

Mom, let's go!

Let's go home and talk...

I...

The game is still on!

My sister is not a maid!

This is ridiculous!

Xiao Xiao!

See them out!

I'll never come again, not even if you pay me!

Xiao Xiao

She has offended your mother-in-law

and caused you trouble

Did you want to talk to me?

No, I just came to see you!

Don't lie!

I'll do what I can

It must be tough on you

It's about Zhi Yuan

Don't talk nonsense!

What about him?

Nothing...

You're so thin, are you ill?

No!

How is George treating you?

Alright!

Really?

Yes!

We're leaving. You better get back

before your mother-in-law gets upset!

We'll come again. Go in!

She's too weak!

I would have packed up and gone home

Don't say that! I feel bad enough already!

That's Zhi Yuan's girlfriend!

Girlfriend?

I maybe wrong

Xiao Xiao, tell me the truth!

I'm not sure!

Pei Qiong

You came to pick me up?

I want to show you something

Stocks?

Whose is it?

Ours!

Ours?

But why?

I ran into David. He's a broker now!

He made a lot of money

He said I should buy in while the market is down

We may make a double

Is it reliable?

Cash is worth nothing

Stocks are better

If we can earn a double

we'll have enough for Zhi Yuan's tuition!

If not, we'll still have our money's worth

You bought it with the jewelry?

Yes!

You don't approve?

She might not like it!

Don't tell them yet!

Wait till we make money!

The tub is so dirty!

Clean it yourself!

I can't

I've never cleaned a tub in my life!

It's not that hard!

It's inconvenient to live together

without any servants!

What do you suggest?

I've told you we should move!

What's wrong with living here?

I don't want troubles

Who's giving you trouble?

I'm not used to this

What don't you like?

Big family living together

I can't afford to move out!

I'll have my Dad buy us a flat!

I won't accept it!

What has my Dad done to you?

I don't care if he's rich

I want to make it on my own!

You're an assistant engineer today

because of my Dad

What?

I got the job on my own credit

But not without connections

I don't need connections!

I'll quit tomorrow

Call your father now!

Tell him

about my internship in the U.S.

Tell him not to bother!

What?

She's ridiculous!

Calm down!

If you won't clean the tub

go home and take your bath!

Say no more!

I've cleaned the tub for you

Mom!

Mom's looking for you!

Pei Qiong

Mom!

Where does Zhi Yuan's girlfriend live?

I didn't say anything!

Tell me, what does she do?

I'm not sure!

Zhi Yuan hasn't been home for days!

If your father finds out, it'll be disastrous!

I'm not trying to nag

If the girl is nice

it's alright!

If she's a bad lot, Zhi Yuan will be ruined!

You know your father-in-law's temper

What'll happen if something goes wrong?

Do you know where she lives?

Zhi Yuan told me

Take me there tomorrow

No, let me go alone

Listen to the crazy music

You dance to my singing

We vie for the liquor

I look lovely under the red light

You whistle so well

Everyone bursting with joy

I'm drunk

Why are you smiling at me?

Aiyaya...Aiyaya

Aiyaya...Aiyaya

Go ahead and seduce me

Let's have fun tonight

You dance to my singing

We're all infatuated

I don't consider you misbehaving

by drinking up in here

Aiyaya...Aiyaya

Aiyaya...Aiyaya

Go ahead and seduce me

Let's have fun tonight

You dance to my singing

We're all infatuated

I don't consider you misbehaving

by drinking up in here

I need to talk to you

but I don't know how to say it!

Go ahead!

My mother-in-law knows about you

His father is very conservative

He'll never agree if he finds out

It has nothing to do with your job

and I don't want to hurt your feelings

His parents have high hopes for him

and want him to go abroad

He already told me

I'm very sorry

I don't know how to handle this

I understand, for his sake

I should not get in the way

I know you love each other

If you stop seeing him

it'll be painful to you!

Please forgive me!

My occupation is a problem

I'm not worthy of him

I can avoid him, for his sake

I can do that

Can I help you in any way?

Your brother got her pregnant

It's true! She's 3 months pregnant!

Really?

Rich people talk about face

We just want money

How much does she want?

HK$20,000

That's blackmail!

How can he be so stupid?

Let's sell the stocks

We just bought them, we'll make money soon!

I can't do that!

This is urgent! Call David tomorrow!

He won't be back from Japan till next week

What shall we do?

Stall them until David returns

What do you want?

Where's Su Shan?

Moved!

Moved? Why?

Who knows? You tell me!

Have you seen Su Shan?

No!

Have you seen Su Shan?

No!

Have you seen Su Shan?

No!

Beer!

Stock market crash!

Shocking

Market plunges 10:54:14:04 10:54:15:21 to all time low

What's the matter with you?

Can't find Zhi Wen!

Did he call?

No!

He's never this late!

Did something happen to him?

Don't worry! He's a nice guy

Heaven helps a good man

He doesn't have any stocks, does he?

No! He won't do that!

He always plays things safe

Have you checked with his classmates?

I'll make the calls right away!

Zhi Yuan, call the police!

Zhi Wen!

Zhi Wen...

I'm finished!

How can I face Dad

and everyone else? I should kill myself!

Sister... Brother!

Mom! Dad! Zhi Wen's back!

What is it?

It's my fault!

We didn't have enough for Zhi Yuan's tuition

So I took a chance and bought some stocks

I'm so sorry!

You only did this for me!

Don't worry! I'll postpone my trip!

No! I'll do everything

to make you strive for a future

Going to college is striving for a future?

Don't argue!

How dare you sell my jewelry!

Give them back!

Stop this nonsense!

I must talk to your father!

Alright, I'll pay you back!

They were part of my dowry

How can you take them without asking me?

What's this?

Just shut up!

Good thing the rest is in a deposit box

If I left them lying around...

Will you shut up?

...you would have taken everything!

Give them back. I want them back!

Fine! I'll pay you back!

Just so that I can go to college

the whole family is in an uproar!

What's the point? Why?

Su Shan

Su Shan

I looked everywhere for you!

Let me come in...

Don't do this to me! Let me in!

Su Shan!

Don't you want me anymore?

Is it because of your mother?

Did I do something wrong?

No...

Then why?

We'll never be happy together!

We must end this!

How can you say that?

What are you worrying about?

Nothing will change my mind!

Unless you want to leave me

Tell me the reason!

Just go abroad

I'm not going

But your sister-in-law said...

What? Have you talked to her?

No! She doesn't know I'm here!

Something's bothering you

Tell me!

Don't ask me, please!

Pei Qiong!

I haven't seen you in days! Where have you been?

Looking for a job!

Any luck?

Sister

Have you talked to Su Shan?

What did you tell her?

Did you tell her to leave me?

I don't understand! Why?

It's not a crime to work in a bar!

If you all look down upon her

I'll never come home!

Listen to me...

Please forgive me

I was only thinking of your future!

Thanks for your concern!

I must account for Su Shan!

You do not understand me after all!

I do

I'll speak to Mom and Dad!

No! I don't need any help!

No one can keep us apart!

Zhi Yuan!

Zhi Yuan!

Hey!

How did you find me?

Pei Qiong was right about you!

You're not coming home?

I'll wait till dad cools down

How's your wife?

Everything's fine

Let's sit over there!

Alright...

I'll take a break!

Go ahead!

You like it here?

Just temporary. I'm still looking!

I'm here to tell you

They're leaving for the U.S. tomorrow

What?

I'm on an internship for 2 years!

That's great!

You'll be a full fledged engineer after that!

I'll check around

about you and Xiao Xiao's education

I'm not going!

Are you getting married?

We just don't want to be apart!

It's time we meet our future sister-in-law!

She's over there reading

She looks nice!

That's what Pei Qiong said

Don't tell Dad!

Don't worry!

When is your flight?

Tomorrow morning at 11

I'll see you off!

Alright!

About Xiao Xiao's enrollment

I'll look into it right away

Good!

Take care!

Brother!

-Brother! -Zhi Yuan

Sorry

I'm late!

Goodbye!

Bye!

Write us!

Bye!

Dad! Mom!

They just left!

I'm late!

You need not come if you're busy

Mom, come here!

Mom

What is this?

Keep this!

Why?

Zhi Wen lost a lot of money in the stock market

You must be tight

Keep this

Who told you?

Nosy little brat!

It's not a secret!

I can't accept this!

This is my own savings

What I like most

is this jade piece from Dad

This is a disgrace!

You stole for your family!

I didn't! You gave it to me!

Only for you to wear them

not for you to give away!

You should go home if you like it there so much!

Without you

is no big deal, bitch!

Go! Get lost!

You have no right!

I haven't done anything wrong!

Go!

So you like things from your family!

No! That's my Dad's wedding present!

Don't touch it!

Give it back!

No!

Hello

Mr. Xu?

Speaking

Your daughter committed suicide!

What?

She's in the hospital!

Who was that? What happened?

Xiu Zhu committed suicide!

This way

How is she, doctor?

Can I go in?

Xiu Zhu...!

Xiu Zhu!

Xiu Zhu!

Xiu Zhu!

Why did you do this?

What?

Dad...

The jade piece is broken!

I should've never let you marry George!

Xiu Zhu!

Xiu Zhu!

This way!

It's you!

My sister is barely buried, how can you come here?

Where's your heart?

Who says I can't be here?

Damn you!

You bastard!

Stop it!

Stop it!

No! Don't...

It's him!

Don't move!

I'm sending him to jail!

Great! He works in the bar and gets in a brawl!

He almost got someone killed!

What a shame!

He did the right thing!

What?

Who did he beat up?

The Hu's are arrogant because of their money

George deserved it!

Did I say something wrong?

No...

Su Shan

Zhi Yuan

How are you? How's the check-up?

Everything's fine, don't worry!

But there's no one to look after you!

The landlady is nice and Pei Qiong visits me often

She has been very kind!

I feel bad about the grief I'm causing you!

Don't be!

Life is full of ups and downs

You have enough money?

Yes

The baby is almost due when you get out!

I must be with you!

Can you go into the delivery room?

Of course, I'm the father!

I must be there

for the baby's first cry

Shu Fen

What is it?

A letter from the U.S.

What does it say?

They're fine. Where's Xiao Xiao?

She's home

She'll be excited!

Whose letter is that?

Your brother's

Did he mention me?

You're all set for college!

He'll bear your expenses

All we need is the airfare

That's easy enough!

Fai

Xiao Xiao...

When are you leaving?

As soon as I get my passport

I won't see you for 4 years!

We'll write

I want to give you something

What is it?

Close your eyes!

You...

Xiao Xiao, wear this!

It'll be like seeing us

You'll be gone for 4 years

Take care of yourself

Watch out for the change in weather

I'm worried about you

I'll remember what you said

I won't forget you

I didn't expect the school in Singapore

to send the employment letter so soon

I can't decide

You don't want to go?

I must think it through

I know what you're thinking

Xiao Xiao just left

Zhi Yuan's in jail, there's no one home

Dad will feel sad

But for your future

you must make a decision

We can't just leave them behind!

I worry about them

Being filial is good, but between the generations

It's not always possible to be together

How can you give up such a great opportunity?

Of course I want to go

Then stop worrying!

Dad is a reasonable man

Your principal called to congratulate me

You're the new principal of a school in Singapore

I'm wondering

why you said nothing!

I wanted to wait

I suppose I'm a stubborn old fool

For you to hide such good news from me!

We just didn't want to leave all at once

or you'll be too lonely

Don't worry about that!

I'm pleased about the news

This is your future

You should decide for yourself

I've been doing some thinking

Am I always right about things?

I wonder if I'm passe

Now I understand

Young people should broaden their horizons

But I'm too old for that already!

Pei Qiong, will you be leaving too?

Not right now

I need to give the hospital 3 months' notice

Zhi Wen will leave first

Zhi Yuan is released from jail

Mrs. Li, I'm going to pick up Zhi Yuan

Be careful!

You're almost due!

I will

There you are! Where are you going?

Who is it?

Give me money!

You are...

I'm her mother!

She's going out, wait till she gets back!

I won't let you out of my sight

Let go

Give me money!

Su Shan...

Su Shan...

Su Shan...

Su Shan...

Su Shan...

Su Shan...

Zhi Yuan...

Mom...

Zhi Yuan...

Mom...

Let's go home, your father's waiting!

Where is she?

Surgical room

Your wife was hit by a car. She's in the hospital

Taxi!

Queen Elizabeth Hospital

Pei Qiong

How is Su Shan?

She's...

Su Shan...

Zhi Yuan

I must see her...

Su Shan...

Zhi Yuan

Su Shan's grave

She had a hard life

and died a horrible death!

I must leave this heartbreaking place

I've decided to go back to sea

Thanks, Mom!

Thank you!

I'm going!

Dad

I want to talk to you

Now I understand

the conflicts between the generations

We're doing what we did out of love

love for our children

I know, Dad!

Please forgive me for everything

All you've done for me

I'll never forget!

Take care of yourself. I'm going!

Zhi Yuan

Dad

Good luck!

Keep this

Thanks, Dad!

Give me a hand, old man!

Let me...

I'll get the bottle

Alright
