looking at is Dolly Broadbent

and she grew up here...

...on Majesty Ranch.

Majesty lies
in a region of the country

that is not only
recognized for being

one of the least populated,

but also for having some

of the darkest night skies
in the northern hemisphere,

giving way to an
otherworldly setting.

It is a striking
display of beauty,

of sheer vastness,
and its existence

serves as a warning for how
little we truly understand

about the world
that we live in.

Forget the wonders of the skies

because right here, in the
high desert of the Wild West,

a tale is unfolding

that will make you second
guess your next venture

out into the dark.

The area has been haunted by
unexplained disappearances

and grizzly deaths.

What is going on out here?

What is behind this ominous
threat that defies definition?

Our pursuit is to
find some answers,

to uncover
what is going on out here

and why it seems
to be kept a secret,

and in doing so...

...we've discovered that
we're not the only ones

who've set out on this venture

and that someone got
started long before us,

decades ago,
here on Majesty Ranch.

All right,

It's the top
of the hour and whew,

my coffee was
pretty strong this morning,

uh, but I wanna remind
everybody to be safe

and responsible this summer
when it comes to campfires.

Over the weekend,
apparently a fire broke out

on Majesty Ranch
in Eagle County.

Majesty is one
of the largest ranches

in the state of Nevada,

uh, but fortunately
for the owners,

Gerald and Dolly Broadbent,

they're reported
to be safe and sound.

However, their home and
all of their possessions

weren't as lucky.

Gosh, you just hate
to hear that, huh?

Alright, well,
up next, uh, surprise,

we have Dave here
with some fire safety.

While they were
packing up to move,

Dolly's husband
inadvertently found...

...something a bit interesting,

a very vital piece
of this puzzle.

The only things that survived
the fire...

...were the things
that we had in the root cellar,

and that's where
Gerald found it.

Dolly and I have...

...been searching
for this box for years.

Her family, her mom and her dad,

were convinced
that it was stolen

by county officials,

um,

years ago,
during a routine inspection.

It was hidden in a huge box

in c-- full of candy jars.

This box going missing
was really a pretty big deal

to Dolly's family because...

...it was really the start
of her father's mental decline.

I was shocked to see it

because I thought
it was gone forever,

and my first thought,

"Why is it here?"

So the issue here is
that even though I work

with the county...

...they don't wanna have
anything to do with this.

They think it's all
just a bunch of

and have written this off.

But after reviewing the
contents of the box,

I'm confident that...

...they're gonna rethink that.

Him losing this box
sent him over the edge.

I was 22 at the time,
when I went to Vegas.

Uh, my parents thought that...

They wanted me and my
sister to, like, go explore

and see what the world was
like outside of the ranch.

Ever since
Dolly was a little girl,

her mother, Nancy, suffered
from a chronic disease

that over time just became
more and more debilitating.

One day, my mom called me

and told me that
I needed to come home.

So she had just
come home from a trip

and she said,
"I am not doing really well

and your father
is doing really bad."

It was time for me
to go home, anyways,

because city life
was not for me.

It was a really sad situation.

Nancy was sick,

and Beau was losing his mind,
couldn't take care of her.

When I got home,
things were really bad.

I didn't realize
how bad my mom

had declined
with her health,

and my dad...

...was just so paranoid

that he was a completely
different person.

We all had to know...
what was in that box,

what was so damaging
that Dolly's dad

lost his mind.

He had to have been
scared to death.

When I opened that box, there
were two documents on top.

One was a letter from Beau,
and the second was a timeline.

We're not gonna cover
Beau's entire timeline

because it's very lengthy,

but we wanna do is

cover the most important parts.

Who is this timeline for?
We have no context.

The only thing we have
is this letter addressed

to a man named Klamath.

And this is where
our timeline begins.

From the time
we moved onto the ranch,

we would often see people
on the property at night,

at the edge of the floodlights.

My mom was definitely scared.

She couldn't help but think

that there was always
a logical explanation.

Hoodlums that would, like,
sneak onto our property

because we had that
happen many times.

She always wanted to
rationalize everything.

After my decades of living

this fever of a reality

and protecting
my family from it,

I have come to understand

that there is
more than one kind

of threat sharing this
high desert with us.

He would rather
have my mom think

that he was losing his mind

rather than us always to have

to be in fear all the time.

My mom really thought that
my dad was losing his mind.

It was the most frightening
sound I've ever heard.

Beau calls the police,

and the sheriff himself drives
all the way out to the ranch.

Now, the ranch
is nowhere near town.

So it was a journey to get
out there and when he does...

And Beau thinks to himself,

"I have to document this,
I have to document this

because when this happens again,

I can't look like a lunatic.

And three months later,
it happens again.

This time--

This time he's ready.

So he calls the police again,

and believe me,
this is something

that Beau doesn't easily do

because he believes
that he's fully capable

of protecting his family,

but he also knows that this
is something that is just

beyond his control.

And they don't
take him seriously.

I mean, they go as far as...

...laughing at him.

Beau and his family
became known as...

...the crazy family
up at the ranch,

and he really wanted
to right his reputation

by documenting what
was happening to him.

He was humiliated.

It wasn't easy to document

what was happening
back in those days

because it wasn't like
he just had a cell phone

and he could just record
it as soon as it started.

You know, he had a film
camera and an audio reel,

and it was just way, way
more difficult for him

to get that out and to capture
what was going on.

And with the whole
Mantis situation,

we didn't know what to believe.

If you've been
following the story,

then you probably remember
that Mantis Mining Company

and Freight Pacific
purchased this enormous piece

of land in northeastern Nevada.

Now, a section of that land
ran along Majesty Ranch,

and there was
a certain portion of that

that Mantis Mining Company...

...really wanted.

It had an old mine on it,

and it was something that
they deemed very valuable.

And Beau...

...he fought against them
and was like,

"No, that's on my property.

That's-- That's my mine,
that's-- that's mine."

And this went back and
forth for a long time.

And finally a judge came forward

and deemed it Beau's property

Before the judge ruled
that it was Beau's land,

they were very interested
in that mining entrance.

So, one day, Beau
caught them in the act

and he took a picture of
them to show it to the judge.

One week after
that photo was taken,

they came back
in the middle of the night

and tried to
blow up the entrance.

They were not gonna give up.

At first, they tried
to buy the ranch

for j-- just a ridiculous price,

but it could never
leave the family,

so my dad w--
would've never sold it.

This...

...was when things
started to get...

...very strange.

Then...

...his animals
start turning up dead.

Shortly after his animals
started coming up dead,

he comes across
a freshly butchered calf.

Now, this dead calf wasn't

what he was concerned
about capturing on film

because something else
caught his eye.

It was someone
that worked for Mantis.

They were trying
everything they could

to scare us out of there.

The sheriff and the foreman

at the Mantis Mining Company
were really good friends.

So when Beau called,

they never took him seriously

and just thought he was a joke

and treated him
like one, really.

Knowing what I know now...

...in light of everything....

...I'm very heartbroken.

And terrified.

On the far side
of the property, um,

there's this cute A-frame cabin

that Dolly's mom really loved

and it's really
close to the border

of the Mantis Mining
Company's property.

What she really wanted
was a big, beautiful deck

that overlooked the ranch
so she could, you know, sit,

have a cup of coffee
in the morning,

maybe a glass
of wine at night.

And so Beau
ended up building her one.

They called this cabin
the vacation house,

because when they were tired

or needed a break
from their everyday life

in the house in the valley,

they could go up
to the mountains

and they could stay
at this cute little cabin

and have
a little bit of a getaway.

Not far from this cabin,

this, uh, vacation home,

is the Ambler Mine.

Now, this mine
was one of the things

that, uh, the
Mantis Mining Company...

...really fought over and really
wanted their hands on.

It also seemed to be...

...a hotbed of activity

that Beau was really
trying to document.

This was the experience that...

...really changed him and...

...made him become obsessed.

What he saw that day in
the shadows was not human.

This is also where the
timeline takes a huge break

and doesn't pop back up
until the late 1980s.

He knew what was
going on at the ranch,

that the sheriff came.

That deeply troubled me.

He insisted that
we meet in person,

a small house off Highway 50.

And this is
where we have made

a very interesting connection.

This is the part in the timeline

that changed everything.

This is the house right
next to the trailer

that Minerva Sound died in.

Seeing Beau pull up
to this house...

...was surreal

because Gal and I had just
made an interesting connection.

A few years ago when
a woman named Minerva Sound

was found dead in her trailer,

some very frightening
tapes were also found.

Minerva discovered
some pretty graphic

and disgusting tapes

that were recorded in the
basement of her trailer.

These tapes have really

disturbed our viewers and...

...they've really
bothered me as well.

I've lost sleep
watching them over

and over again
trying to figure out

what exactly it all means.

Bill and I have poured over
every detail in these tapes,

and it's in
these tapes that...

...we have found a connection.

We don't know
what it means or...

...if it means anything yet.

Charity Henderson, the woman
identified as the victim

of the unseen assailant
in one of the videos...

...is a distant relative

of the founding member
of Mantis Mining Company.

It could be a coincidence...

...but, uh...

...I don't believe in those.

I arrived at our
agreed time and waited.

I walked around
looking for him.

I stayed until
it started to get dark.

I felt uneasy,

like I was
being watched,

so I left.

When I got home, I found
my front door wide open.

Later that night, I discovered

something truly disquieting.

He had taken
my camera out of the truck

while I walked around
looking for him.

He left a surprise on it.

The majority of the evidence
in this box, um, is labeled

and we can see
exactly on the timeline

where everything
is supposed to be.

But there's also a
bunch of other evidence,

like audio recordings,
videos, photographs...

...that are just unlabeled.

And with these...

...there's no description.

So, we're just left to wonder.

Since we started sharing
Dolly's side of the story,

one of the biggest questions
we get from people is, "W--

why didn't they just move?

You know, if this
place is so scary,

why didn't they just
get out when they could?"

People have to understand,

these things didn't
happen every day,

and when it did happen,

it's so surreal...

...that it's easy to disconnect

y-- from, you know, my life.

Ranchers can't just pick
up and move to the city

and start a new career.

It doesn't work like that.

Selling Majesty Ranch

never was,

and never will be an option.

I was
on the mountain on this day

and I saw smoke
coming from Ambler.

I know, hearing all
this, it sounds terrifying,

but growing up on the ranch,

it wasn't always like that.

Unfortunately, for
Dolly's mother, Nancy,

after, uh,
the girls had grown up

and left the home,

this cute little
vacation cabin, um,

sort of became more of...

...a place that Beau would
retreat to as he became

deeper and deeper obsessed

with what
was happening at the ranch.

And he would go there

and he would spend a
lot of time there alone,

just with his thoughts.

And he was obsessing more

and he just kinda
became a recluse up there.

Okay, we're testing
out my homemade motion light.

And then we reach this...

...really perplexing entry.

There's no number. It's...

It's as if he...

...changed his mind or...

...didn't finish the entry.

Why is he afraid of
putting this in writing?

And...

...you know, who's this--

who's this odd man
that he met with?

We haven't answered
those questions yet,

but it's this very next entry...

...that you just have
to see for yourself.

Sometimes...

...what you can't see...

...is worse than the
things that you can.

What we see him hitting
here with his hammer

is the head frame
to a mine shaft.

You might notice that this
one here has been filled in.

Hello?

Wait, wait.

There really is no way
for us to know for sure

who this person is.

No deaths in the county
matched this type of death

that we see in the videotape.

So it turns out
that Klamath...

...was a practicing
attorney in Nevada.

Unfortunately,
he has passed away.

He was preparing
to defend himself.

I would be a--

a disaster too...

...if there was a tape of me
murdering somebody out there...

...that had just gone missing.

Put yourself in Nancy's
shoes for just a moment.

You know, she's been gone for
a whole month with her sister.

It's probably the last time
she's ever gonna see her sister.

You know, she's very ill.

She's not doing well,

and she has no idea
what has just transpired

with her husband
while she was away.

And she just comes home and
finds him a paranoid mess,

and she fears that he is just

never gonna come back from this.

You know, he's...

...basically gone deeper
and deeper into...

...trying
to collect this evidence,

and trying to prove what
has been happening to him.

And she just feels that he's
just gone off the deep end.

So her solution,
at the time...

...hide the box,

get rid of the problem.

This was taped to the box.

"My dearest Beau.

I will love you forever...

...and always...

...in this life...

...and in the next.

I pray...

...that wherever I go...

...after I leave this earth...

...that you...

...will come
and you will find me.

Because I will be
waiting for you.

If you find this
after I leave...

...please...

...forgive me.

You have let...

...this consume you...

...and I worry greatly
about your health.

And when I'm gone,

the girls will need you.

I know they are grown,

but they will always be...

...our little girls.

Whatever is
going on out there...

...it didn't end with Nancy
hiding the box,

and...

...it didn't end
with Beau's death.

And it didn't end
with Gary vanishing.
