Well, that's why you weren't at school today.

Yeah, as a matter of fact, I've been thinking

a lot about school lately

That's a switch.

I decided to drop out.

Don, you'll blow your chance to graduate next year.

What difference does it make? I wanna work in a garage.

Well, the more education you have

the better mechanic you'll be.

And besides

think of all the neat things you'll be missing out on.

Like what, tons of homework?

Well, playing the guitar isn't as easy as it looks.

the piano and the violin.

His biggest ambition in life is to become a mechanic.

Well, there's nothing wrong with being a mechanic.

It's a very honorable profession.

But it seems to me that Don could be a mechanic

and finish his schooling at the same time.

(Don) 'I'm into art when it's practical.'

because you're dropping out of school.

Well, that place is filled with old mine shafts.

So dangerous nobody goes there anymore.

Don knows better than that.

He's just trying to show us how smart he is.

We'd better alert the authorities.

Hey, man, we can't go ripping up the desert in this thing.

We'll take a section across Perdition flats.

From the ground up, I did every nut and bolt in it.

Look, I know you're a good mechanic on today's cars.

and turbine-powered cars.

I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

But that's the point, Don!

Without the proper education

you'll not be able to cross those bridges.

Yeah, that all sounds great, but I don't buy it.

Elders never told me I'd have to do a thing like this.

Well, I hate to sound like an old mother hen

but I'm beginning to get worried.

Then when the sun moves and a shadow appears

Well, I think Cathy deserves some credit, too, Don.

I'm beginning to realize

maybe school's not such a bad idea after all.

You know, there's one problem, a major problem

we all still face.

he'd help us out.

(Mentor) 'Well, according to Captain Marvel'

that's the way out.

Great, let's go.

- My body is a little.. - Rusty?

Today, we saw that if you

close your mind to learning

sooner or later, you're going to have it open again in surprise

at just how you short-change yourself.
