Third generation builder, proud Newfoundlander.

My team and I are building on one giant cliff

in the Atlantic Ocean.

They don't call it the rock for nothing!

We fight the elements year-round to get the job done.

It might be tough for some but not for us.

Because when this is your view, it's worth it.

Here in Newfoundland, construction is booming.

We got people from all over the country coming here, wanting to live here.

Even people that's from here, they wanna build houses.

They want to be next to the ocean

and we only got so much shoreline.

Deadly view looking out at the lawn,

looking out over the ocean.

We don't stop and we haven't stopped.

Now, giver.

Even in the piss pouring rain.

Not every day you're lifting it over the trees.

You know, I love being busy.

I got so many people reaching out

and we had to put them on the waiting list.

Who knew we had a waiting list?

In Brigus, the waiting is over for this next family,

who wants to turn their summer home into a year-round place.

I'm here to meet Bill and his daughter Sandra

because Lynn, Bill's other daughter, can't be here.

Lynn lives in Ontario

and is the driving force to get this renovated.

So she's kind of the one in charge.

So, this house is about 60 years old

and there used to be an old store on the side

where we're planning on making it a little bit more modern.

So we gotta go over the final plans.

Come on down, Randy.

The price is right!

The house was built by my aunt Nance.

Then Nance left you the property.

I was... I knew she liked me, but who wouldn't?

But anyways, we got it in '78.

And uh, it done us well, but...

I think it's time now to kind of finally renovate it

and update it, hey?

You all ready for the big reno?

I'm ready.

- We're ready. - Ready to go to work.

Ready to do some demo?

- No, he's not. - No, I'll let you.

Maybe, it'd be surprising what I'd find

if I took off the first board.

I might have a bottle hid in there.

So, you wanna have a look before we start, you know,

bringing in the sledgehammer? We don't wanna build it wrong.

This is a total gut job.

We're removing walls to open everything up

and expanding out the back for more dining space.

With the living room at the front,

a custom kitchen in the middle,

and loads of room for dining,

it'll be perfect for their large family.

The back entry will become a large porch and laundry area.

But the biggest request is creating the main floor bedroom suite

where the old store used to be.

It'll have a walk-in closet and bathroom.

Plus the whole main floor is wheelchair accessible.

We got a budget of $300,000 to make it happen.

A lot of memories in this place.

- Oh, god. - One or two. Yeah.

Yeah.

So, that was the store out there before, was it?

There used to be a door going out where that window is,

going out into the store.

Of course, people come to the door, Sundays especially,

over the holidays when they were closed.

Yeah, okay.

Of course, Nance, the type she was,

she might say a few words, choice words on them.

But she'd get up and go get

what they wanted, and away they go home with it.

- Everybody was happy. - It was a great store.

So once we put the piece back on,

they're not gonna think it's the old store

and come knocking on the door, right?

They better not come back

knocking on the door.

You better have lots of baloney.

So, we're actually gonna build a new piece on

and we're gonna pop out this wall.

So, this old window is gonna be the entrance to the bedroom,

bathroom, walk-in closet for yourself.

Ooh, a walk-in closet.

Well, huh, nice.

Then, we're gonna actually push this wall back

so you add a little bit more space here to the dining room.

Then we're gonna tear up the full floor.

The whole floor is going.

Oh, well, that's good.

As long as I don't have to take my shoes off

when I come in the new place.

Well, then you'll have to ask Lynn that.

Yeah, but Lynn... Lynn may not be home

when I come around, so I'll just walk in anyways.

How far out are you moving the back part?

Right here, probably about six feet.

We're gonna tear all the kitchen out, do it all brand new.

Then we're putting the washer

and dryer out in the porch.

when I had the washer there? - No.

I drilled a hole in the back wall there,

put the hose out.

I'd fill up the washing machine, everything drained out the door.

- Oh, did it? - Yeah. I used to have suds out there two feet high.

I guess you could do that now, I suppose.

No, no, no, no. Your... your idea is better, Randy.

And besides that, Lynn wouldn't like it either, so...

No, I guess not.

Don't put the suds outside.

The impression I have from Randy,

I think he understands older homes

and I think his knowledge and expertise will be wonderful

to finally putting out a good product for this house

that we can all use.

So seeing we got everything all figured out,

you know, the plans all done.

- Yeah. - Next thing is bring in the hammers.

My main concern is like anything.

Ripping out a floor, you never know what you're gonna get into.

But hey, that's what I love about it, too.

This is gonna be a huge transformation,

just like the other jobs we've got going on.

In North River, we got the old kitchen demo'd

and the bump-out for the new kitchen is all framed up.

While everything is tore up,

the homeowners asked to redo their bathroom too.

So that's another job on our list.

And just up the way, on the cliffs of Bay Roberts,

we got a big outdoor project for Andy and his whole family.

We started building a new patio space...

The ground is horrible,

so you gotta dig it out and bring in big blasted rock.

We also created a long pathway from the patio

to the cliff overlooking the ocean.

Who got this brainy idea to build out here?

It's here, where we're building the artist pod.

Hey, b'ys, looking good.

It's tangly hauling materials,

but the view is the perfect inspiration for Andy.

A new day, and a new job to get started.

It's demo time at Bill's place.

So today, we're in Brigus

and we got the whole crew

getting ready to tear this place apart.

So b'ys, this is it.

We got Paul and we got Harv and we got Michael.

But the old man's supposed to be showing up, lend a hand.

A little bit of free labour.

So, we're doing an addition on the outside.

That window's gonna be a doorway.

That window is going, but they want it saved

for one of their relations.

What about these vintage window coverings? Save those?

Uh, no.

the little bit of lace frill?

Well, good for mummering, but not for...

not for the look we're going with here.

Keep them for the mummering, I guess.

Anyway, I guess we'll uh, tear into it and...

That's the history of this house.

They did say it was a store.

Things are going good on the inside.

We almost got it all tore apart.

So outside, we had to get the surveyor come in,

plot out where the addition is gonna be,

figure out if it's gonna fit.

If it don't fit, I don't know what we're gonna do. If it do fit, two thumbs up.

So y got it all pegged out anyway.

Yeah.

Every town got their own regulations and each one varies.

For the town of Brigus, you gotta be six feet off

your boundary line, which is the fence right here.

You know what? It might be as simple as to move it back,

but back to the drawing board...

No. So, we're gonna have to push the place back

or change the size.

It's a homeowner question.

Over at Bay Roberts,

the conditions are perfect for patio work.

We got Terry and Rick from Concrete Plus doing a job.

And I'm just here to check in. You know.

A whole lotta everything is going on here today.

This is a really cool backyard project.

Today, we're doing a custom stamped-concrete patio

for the whole family to enjoy.

It'll have a fire pit, lots of seating and a hot tub.

We created a long path

that winds through the field,

connecting the patio area

to Andy's brand-new A-frame artist pod

at the edge of the cliff.

It's gonna have a wraparound deck with a custom glass rail,

large floor-to-ceiling windows to let a lot of light in.

It'll be a cozy place to admire the view and get inspired.

Pour went really well.

So, we had to wait for a good day like today.

It's not gonna rain, so it's gonna be perfect.

Rick and Terry have done a lot of work for me in the past.

But this time, they're doing something super cool

for a concrete patio.

We're doing a fire pit.

It's basically an extension on the patio

with a stamped ashlar slate fire pit.

Stamped concrete is coloured concrete

with a pattern impressed on the top.

There's a lot of stages to it.

You put release powders on,

which gives a secondary colour.

Use the mats, the ashlar slate mats

and they get on them and use a tamper to tamp the impression in.

There's all different colours you can get, different designs.

Once we get the matts off, we have to wait a day or so

and come back and wash the release powders off,

soft cut and seal.

It'll have like a semigloss finish.

Here you go.

It'll take a few days to finish the patio.

It'll be an amazing feature to the property.

Down in North River...

the new kitchen bump-out is framed up

for Sasha's family, friends and clients.

While we continue to prep inside,

outside on top of the bump-out,

Nikki and Holly are prepping for a torch-on roof.

Basically, they're gonna burn a scarred membrane on it.

What that does is it protects any water from getting in.

Boys do their job and we'll come back and button it up.

Working with Nikki is awesome. She's a lot of fun

and she's a good boss.

Boss?! Did you call me boss?

- You are my boss! - Oh, hell no!

- You're my boss. - I'm nobody's boss.

With the kitchen reno well underway,

Shawn, our plumber, is here to scope things out,

which is perfect timing to get him on board

with another new job: redoing their washroom.

Ooh, wow.

So, the sink is going,

the toilets going, this is staying.

That's the one that's staying.

The layout's staying the same,

which means less demo and more savings.

We're doing, like, wainscoting on the walls,

new drywall, new ceiling and new tiles on the floor.

Then Shawn can come back in new fixtures, and then we're done.

We're ripping all the walls off.

Yep, removing the ceiling, get it out of the way,

so it don't get damaged. Absolutely. - It is, yeah.

We can't have it scratched, so it gotta go out with the other part.

This is gonna be the hardest

part about it. - Yeah.

Yeah, there'll be a bit

of struggle on that.

It's got a bit of weight to it.

The homeowners' mom loves the red cast-iron tub,

so it's part of the redesign.

But it can go in the garage until we finish our work.

And it's still in mint condition, right?

Shiny as anything. - Still got a nice shine on it.

The glaze, there's nothing going off the glaze.

It's perfect. - Well, if there's any hard work,

call Sasha. She's the one wanted it moved and saving.

Sasha it is.

She's not here, so I'm blaming on her.

Or blame it on the roosters or something!

It's all their fault!

The biggest challenge for Shawn is gonna be that tub.

We don't wanna scratch it.

It's like a shiny sports car,

looking pretty and we gotta get it out

without putting a scratch on it.

It's not even cast-iron!

while we wait to hear where the official property line is,

we can't start digging for the new addition.

with some structural work.

Here today putting up a beam inside

so we can give it more of an open concept.

We're here now and we're getting ready

to put the LVL up.

We got three laminated beams,

so we're just gonna put one up,

nail that one in and nail the next one to the next one.

It's to the other side of that post there now.

I'll... I'll get up with you then.

I'd say one of these LVLs weigh definitely 100 pounds,

100 pounds plus, probably.

If this were a steel high beam,

we'd have to have a lift for it.

We wouldn't be able to hang on, not three of us.

We're almost in position here now.

Now, we just gotta get up there.

Holly, you can pop up with us.

I forgot younger legs get up there.

It's 12 and 5/16ths.

Put the thing up there

and whatchamacall, that end of the LVL is pretty good,

this end right here is almost a full-half inch thicker.

It's not fitting! I gonna make it fit.

I love seeing progress on jobs.

And it looks like we can move ahead on the addition.

So, I got some good news.

The fence line is actually not the property line.

So, we gain two feet.

So now, we got five feet.

We gotta be six feet away from the property line,

so we gotta go in another foot.

But it's a lot better than three feet.

Now, I'm gonna get the excavator started up,

go over and start digging some test holes.

Test holes is a way for me to spot-check the foundation area for the new addition.

If there's a large cliff running underground,

we have to bust it out.

That's a big rock.

Oh, yeah.

So hopefully, it's just rock and fill.

I think there's a big vein of cliff running behind.

So to get the addition there, we don't want to hit that.

I wanna go down

where I'm actually gonna start the basement.

I'd like to be four feet down. That's below the frost level.

If I can get down that far, good.

If I hit rock, well then, we gotta pivot.

So, that's a big rock!

Yeah, so that one there...

I went down probably like two feet.

It's definitely a cliff.

There's nothing moving on it at all.

Right now, I'll fill back in this hole

and we gotta try to get this shed outta the way.

That's the number one thing.

In Bay Roberts,

Nikki's on the roof again,

only this time it's to shingle the artist pod.

So today, we got myself, Al and Michael.

Al's gonna be down on the ground gumming.

Me and Michael are gonna be up doing the shingles.

Oh, we only got about four bundles per side to install.

Easygoing here today.

Hardest job is Michael not losing the shingles in the wind.

I've done a little bit of shingling in the past.

12/12 don't scare me.

12/12 is a steep pitch.

But I love shingling. Heights don't bother me at all.

I'm totally not afraid of heights.

I'm more afraid of the wind than anything.

But no. Or Al yelling at me.

You can't be afraid of heights when you're at this racket.

I knew shingling's a little bit of a process,

so first thing's first:

put your ice guard down.

That protects yourself from any water.

Then you go ahead and you get your starter strips

on the bottom and then your shingles overlap each way.

Lots of gum, lots of nails.

Golden.

This artist pod is in a pretty windy spot,

so we don't want to be back here in the middle of a snowstorm

changing any of these shingles.

It is definitely a day you don't wanna take any shortcuts.

As the day goes on, the wind usually picks up.

So does our spirits! Get her don, son!

Oh, yeah. We got way too much of this.

The wind is not very good here now!

Nikki's always stressed out.

No matter what she says, she's stressed out.

That's common for her.

Yeah, you hold it. I'll cut or something.

Sometimes I like to get her going too, just to make it worse,

but most of the time, I try to keep her calmed down.

So as you could see,

the wind is picking up, the clouds are rolling in.

I want to get this done ASAP.

It looks like rain.

In North River,

Harv and Al took no time to finish the washroom demo.

That's it, all done.

Now that's it's drywalled,

time to start putting it back together.

So, the plan in the bathroom today is

Al's gonna be cutting for me and I'm gonna be on the old nailer.

We're gonna have a wainscoting wall here,

with a three and a half, one by four ledge,

all the way around the bathroom.

Gonna make it look some pretty.

Today, we're using one by four primed MDF,

in the end, the designers will pick the colours

and we'll paint it whatever colour in the end.

Finishing work is definitely my favourite.

It's the time when you get to see the true beauty.

So, back when I done the wainscoting in Glenn's bathroom,

after getting a bit more comfortable,

able to take it on myself, feels good.

The wainscoting in this room is just a little added feature,

giving a bit of definition.

Basically, you run your baseboard,

you put your strips in,

depending on the length of your wall,

you're going for 16, 18, as long as they have equal distance

between each one, and then you put your finished board on,

and your ledge, and you've got beautiful wainscoting.

Quick, easy process.

Starting to look better already!

Closer to home in Brigus,

a lot's going on at Irish Town Road.

The homeowners wanted new clapboard,

so we're stripping off the old.

We got to prep the back wall for a large dining room.

Tear from the bottom work up.

And the floor inside needs to get on grade for concrete.

Young guns Michael and Holly are on site

to get things started.

Want me to go inside and push out?

First door removal: five out of 10.

Not too bad!

Not even a six!

Five out of 10 difficulty. Not too bad.

We got a great start,

time to bring in the rest of the crew

for some serious grunt work.

We got Al and we got Harv and then we got Holly.

They're starting to open up the back wall.

To extend the dining room at the back of the house,

we need to open things up and add a beam.

Right here now, we're just whatchamacall taking off these outside boards.

We gotta putty in an LVL beam

'cause all this is being opened up to the new part.

Just watch yourself.

We're putting in the bigger LVLs here today

because this...

this is a very small header.

I mean, it's never gonna pass code.

They're over there. I think they're 14 inches wide.

And it's a pain in the and it weighs a ton.

But it gotta go up there.

We can do it. Lots of muscle here.

When I have it at this stage,

the wheels is always turning.

Because there's so many steps.

Like, we got an addition that gotta go on,

the floor gotta get done. And then, we're all back

to framing up, dormers, you know.

Flooring, kitchen.

Everything else that gotta go with it.

For me, the next step is to hop on the mini

and get this floor ready for concrete.

Now, it's time to fill her in.

Let's move some rocks!

We're putting in a concrete slab.

It'll be the foundation for the finished floor,

but I gotta get it on grade first.

All done!

Time to tamp it down.

Over in Bay Roberts,

the big backyard project is in its home stretch.

Big day today.

Everybody's here.

We got the windows coming for the pod,

and Paul and I are making the fire pit for the patio.

We're putting these concrete blocks that were premade

just laying them in place that are dry-fit.

They got a locking mechanism into them.

Ready for a fire.

Harv and Al are staying here today,

so they're gonna be getting the windows and doors put in.

I'm just here to help be the muscle.

Lots of hands here today.

Boss don't get outta lugging stuff.

But hey, there's no titles here.

I love how Randy puts us like out in the ocean.

And lug all day.

We got everything for the pod,

so we got all the windows, we got the siding,

and we got the stuff for the inside.

The insulation, button it up right fast,

onto the next one so they can enjoy the artist pod

while the weather's still good.

Nikki disappeared, Paul disappeared,

We're finishing the inside with V-groove pine,

six inch.

That's going everywhere.

On the walls, on the ceiling.

Just continuous.

The homeowners want it white

because all the colour is out here.

You look around.

The inside is only a place

that he can keep dry

while he's painting pictures.

The colours, it's Newfoundland,

it's the outdoors.

Just catch me if I goes and fall.

That's a 45, and that one would've matched perfectly

if it had been 45.

That's not even... I don't know

if that's 22 and a half here.

Basically, one of the windows just got cut

a little bit too short on the brick mould.

And we got a little boo-boo.

How soon can you make another one?

It's one of those things. Now, we gotta take one of them windows out

and get it remade.

But hey, there's always little glitches

that you have going through construction.

I say tack it in up there now, Harv.

And then, throw the side ones in.

We'll just tack them all.

It's no big deal, but I'm cursing inside.

And now, it's sly rain, so I'm getting wet.

we're not gonna let a little

mix-up at the order desk

for the windows slow us down.

Today, we're back down at the artist pod.

I got Michael here with me today, so...

And we're getting ready to do glass panels.

We do have glass installers,

but seems like here lately, I'm the glass installer.

But I don't mind that glass.

Glass is good.

It's different than wood.

Less forgiveness.

It's a tempered glass.

You gotta have a tempered glass

in a location like this.

Especially on a deck,

you hit it and then it's just...

chhh. So... it's safer.

Fits like a glove.

You gotta be very careful using your hammer, for sure.

I mean, especially around glass.

Again, it's unforgiving.

I got an idea for a custom piece

to really finish off the artist pod.

It's tight to get it done, but I'm sure Matt's up to it.

Building a bench for the artist's pod.

Got a little sketch here this morning.

I think it's gonna turn out really nice.

Gonna drill some holes now, put some eye bolts in.

Randy do have a lot of faith in us

when it comes to building his dreams.

I just wish sometimes I could get inside his head

and see what this piece of paper's all about.

Going to have to imagine it ourselves

and build something and hope he likes it.

I think I achieved what I'm after.

Probably a little bit more than achieving.

Back over in Bay Roberts,

Holly, Uncle Al and Harv are on deck to install

the replacement window,

thanks to a rush job

from the manufacturer.

And a finished window means the place is ready

We're here at the artist's pod.

It's a beautiful Newfoundland day!

Gorgeous fall weather we're having!

Yes, yes! And we had to trek everything in.

All the way through, it's been a bit of a workout!

Yeah!

Lots of help here today with us.

We have Alex, we have Phil, we have Aisha.

Yes, everyone has a job.

We're all focussed, we know what we have to do.

It's now just getting a last few pieces put together.

Yeah, and we also have to work with the sunlight too

because by the time the sun goes away, there's no light in there,

there's no electricity.

So, we have the chair here,

the sofa... is the sofa being delivered or...?

The sofa's outside in a box

but we kinda need to, like, get everything assembled

and out of the way.

Okay. Yeah.

And then,

we can get the couch in here.

So, we have some nice seating, a place for him to paint.

But really, the space is all about the view!

It is, it's all about the view.

And it's funny even like today,

so cozy in there, I could see just sitting down,

like doing your paintings, cup of coffee, looking at the water.

Yeah, Andy's gonna be so inspired in there,

whether it's a day like today or a sunny day.

Come on, Sasha, I'm getting wet.

I know! Okay.

Whole sofa...

I think that's it.

We went soft with the furnishings:

we did a sofa, we did a leather chair,

we wanted to make sure that there was somewhere you could cozy up.

The overall feel has to be "simple,"

is really what it is.

As an artist, you need to be inspired by the ocean

and not everything else kind of busy around him.

You can't have bright reds and blues and things like that,

you need to let the art to speak.

I think we were really mimicking what was happening

outside and we're bringing that inside as well.

And then we brought in a lot of candles

because there's no services in the artist pod,

so the sunlight is your light and the candles.

And you have the full wall of windows.

The sun shining in that window,

it's gonna, like, warm up really nicely in there.

So, that was kind of our main focus, was simple furniture,

places for him to put his art,

even with that picture ledge wall,

he can change out that art too,

to kind of give a little bit of a difference sometimes.

The patio area is quite large, isn't it?

- It is, it's huge, yeah. - It's spacious.

You got the hot tub area,

got the fire pit,

and then we got another

seating area behind us. - Yes.

The furniture we have here actually is great

'cause it's stuff that you don't have to repaint.

Terry and Rick did a really good job with the stamped concrete as well.

I love that there's a lot more curves that kinda move

with the landscape.

Yeah, adds a bit of texture,

a little bit of difference,

and it ties into the path,

with all the different movement.

With the curves

and things like that.

I can see a lot of time spent there

with family friends for sure.

Last touch on the swing,

had to bolt her down 'cause it do get windy here.

It'll beat the side off the place.

But got it all finished just in time

'cause Andy's home.

So, I'm going to go grab him

and show him his new space.

In Bay Roberts, the Artist Pod job has been a huge mix

of our skills to create a great backyard oasis

for the whole family.

Despite a lot of twists and turns,

and the weather,

we didn't go over their $80,000 budget.

Feels pretty great to have it all done,

have it all out there,

we battled a little bit of weather,

we battled a lot of challenges,

but hey, looks amazing.

I'm a little bit nervous, you know,

they haven't seen the space.

So now that Andy's home

and wanting to have a look at it, hopefully it goes good.

I can't wait to see it out there. I can't wait!

I can't wait to see what it looks like.

Randy, that's quite something.

Absolutely stunning.

But it really is unique.

I mean, the big circle, the fire pit in the middle.

It is. Even from on top of the deck looking down,

there's a focal point.

You got a lot of seating,

you know, 'cause you got grandkids coming around.

You can sit down, start the fire, roast marshmallows.

It's a nice place to entertain. They'll love it, they'll love it.

Absolutely.

I love the flow of the patio.

It's just so natural with the landscape.

Now, it seems like we know what we're doing, right?

Well, that's why we came to you and your team, Randy.

Oh, awesome. Yeah.

- So much detail. - Yeah, I love it.

It'll be a space that we can all use,

though, as a family. There's so many different areas.

Between the fireplace, the hot tub

and all the little seating areas for the family,

it's going to be wonderful.

Looks pretty good there today,

with the steam coming outta that.

It does.

I can see there'll probably be one step, two steps

and splash to get in there.

From the hot tub, to the fire, to the hot tub,

inside. Right?

Grab a quick marshmallow and back in.

Came a long way what the yard used to be.

It certainly was. This was all pug ground, as I remember.

It was. Bay Roberts ground. Not too good.

I even got stuck over there into it.

Yes, I remember.

There's a lotta crushed rock underneath all of this.

It is, yeah.

We had to dig down about

almost four feet,

take all that ground out, yeah.

So, it was a lotta fill that had to come out to build this pad.

And then, when you lead off the deck,

we actually got that winding pathway right up to your space.

There you go.

I think it's beautiful.

I can't wait to see the inside!

- You wanna to go out? - Yes!

Oh, if you want to. But I'm not!

When we came here, we had this land.

Beautiful scenes.

But not very functional.

So now, we've built it into a patio we use,

fire pit we use, lawn for the kids.

Just a whole lot more functional space for me.

And for you, too.

What do you think of the path?

I love the path.

I really like how you swung it down here.

Because I would have gone straight to the step

if I was building it, right? - Yes.

And we wanted to highlight this beautiful rock

that had been there for years and why not go down around it.

This is definitely an interesting project.

You know, there's a lot of...

construction work had to be done,

there's a lotta concrete work, landscaping.

So, you're all excited to see inside?

- I sure am. - Absolutely.

It's just so cozy and comfortable.

It's fantastic. It really is.

The big high peak.

Lots of room. It's a small space, but it's lots of room.

And the amount of light through the windows. Yeah.

So for painting, this is ideal,

and the shiplap, I mean, it really stands out.

It do.

Fantastic that you have

the glass in this door.

You'll get the sunset through this side,

which is what we had talked about

and envisioned. So...

It is, yeah. You'll be able to sit down

here and watch it rise and then watch it set.

It's pretty amazing.

Got the red church roof, the whole thing.

So what's the first picture you're gonna paint?

Landscapes, seascapes,

as you can see in some of the pictures.

And I mean, this gives me all the material in the world to do.

It's a full panorama

and it's the whole year round,

but you know, colours change as the year goes through,

so spectacular.

A cozy spot.

Uh, with a very spacious inside with the high ceiling.

Tremendous amount of light.

So it's just great for painting.

And a beautiful spot to go sit and read and just...

think, reflect, whatever we're doing, you know.

- Oh, I love it. - Oh, beautiful, beautiful.

I love the swing.

I'm gonna enjoy it, I really am.

It won't move!

No. We kinda got it bolted down.

If not, it'll take flight.

The swing doesn't swing.

Just make it swing by unhooking it and swing away.

Oh, yeah.

Yeah, you're not getting that to yourself.

We also created a nice deck

'cause you wanted a place to sit down,

but actually enjoy the view,

but not hinder the view.

So, we put in this glass rail.

Harv did a lovely job of carrying all that glass

right from the house to here and not breaking it all.

But it gives you a nice windbreak,

but it don't hinder any of that nice ocean...

It ties it together really, really well.

Randy, this is exactly what we envisioned

and to see both of you now on the swing,

it's just come together so beautifully.

It's remarkable. It is.

So we'll leave you to it and we'll go start the fire

and get the grandkids, and then we'll have a time, what?

It was a lot of wish list and it was a lot of deciding,

designing.

When we kinda make up a space,

we take what the homeowners want, but we actually build it

for the whole family. And that's the thing,

we tick all the boxes when we're doing it

and I think we ticked all of them here.

Next thing is start a fire,

roast the marshmallows and have a time.

It's pretty cool.

It feels amazing to have this all finished

for our dad and Debbie.

I know how pleased they are with the final outcome

and to be near the water.

It's what my father has always wanted.

So, we're very, very pleased with the final product.

down at the fire pit, out here.

And just have some real quality family time.
