Ghislaine Maxwell has been found guilty

for her involvement

in Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking ring.

Count three, we found her guilty.

Count four, we found her guilty.

Maxwell is guilty of one of the worst crimes imaginable.

Count five, we found her guilty.

And count six, we also found her guilty.

Did Ms Maxwell instruct you to pick up the young girls?

It was the trial that exposed the secret lives

of the rich, the famous and the powerful.

Epstein's former pilot

said that Bill Clinton, Donald Trump,

the actor Kevin Spacey

and Prince Andrew, the Duke of York,

flew aboard the so-called Lolita Express.

The verdict confirmed Maxwell as a predator

who cynically befriended young girls to be abused

by Jeffrey Epstein.

She was going out and hunting for the girls

and sort of bringing them in.

Ghislaine was essentially the pimp or the madam.

As Maxwell faces up to 65 years in jail,

I'll be examining the details of the case.

Ghislaine's famous little black book

really makes for fascinating reading.

But the one that really catches your attention,

"Duke of York, Buckingham Palace, London."

I'm gonna give it a go.

'I'm afraid I've not been quick enough to get to the phone

'before it went off to take your message.'

How did the privileged daughter of newspaper tycoon

Robert Maxwell...

Happy New Year.

..at home in high society

and royal palaces...

Ghislaine had it all.

..become a paedophile's accomplice?

She was the mistress of the house.

Ghislaine said to me, make sure you give Jeffrey what he wants,

because Jeffrey always gets what he wants.

What exactly was her relationship with Prince Andrew?

One of my colleagues remembers her entering and exiting

the Palace four times in one day.

I'll hear from those closest to the story...

The second I left the courtroom, I lost it,

I couldn't contain my tears.

Ghost in this whole affair is Jeffrey Epstein.

It's just wrong.

..most importantly, the survivors.

This is what happens in those situations.

You're not gonna kick and scream and fight and yell

when you're on an island.

Their stories lead me to reflect

on why I'm so personally affected by this case.

This has brought up something that happened to me

when I was 12.

For Prince Andrew, more isolated every day,

the nightmare may just be beginning.

Prince Andrew has been sensationally stripped of his military titles

and royal patronages by the Queen.

I was trafficked to Prince Andrew.

Opening statements today in the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell,

the former girlfriend and friend of Jeffrey Epstein.

The British socialite called to face charges

that she helped procure

and traffic under-aged girls

as sex partners for her close friend and former lover,

the deceased billionaire, sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

..here in New York

due to begin, we expect, those opening statements.

Ghislaine Maxwell's family name and notoriety

brings the world and its media to a New York courtroom.

This is a sordid tale of vast wealth and vast privilege

and an abuse of power

with young, vulnerable women as the victims.

Maxwell was among Epstein's closest associates

and helped him exploit girls,

who were as young as 14 years old.

The alleged sex assaults happened at Epstein's New York mansion,

his New Mexico ranch, his house in Palm Beach

and Maxwell's home in London.

Some of the women who suffered at the hands of Maxwell and Epstein

have come to court to show solidarity

with those giving evidence.

It just takes you back to a time in your life

that was very confusing to me.

It feels good that Ghislaine is finally being held accountable.

I wish it was Jeffrey, too.

But she was part of it all.

She was part of why his whole...

you know, scheme worked.

Inside the courtroom,

Ghislaine Maxwell faces six counts

of sex trafficking and conspiracy.

It was an insane experience.

Felt very surreal.

I still feel like it's just a dream.

It's crazy to have been a part of such an historical trial.

I had one of the best vantage points from the jury booth.

I could see all the prosecution. I could see all of the defence.

And Ghislaine was all the way over

to the left side of the table,

and it was like we would almost lock eyes with each other.

Four of Maxwell's many accusers will be called to testify.

Only one will do so under her real name,

Annie Farmer.

Annie Farmer.

So, she was the one that, from the get-go,

we were all able to jump on board and believe as credible.

The court is closed to cameras,

but Annie's testimony closely mirrors

what she said when she spoke bravely in this TV interview.

When I first met Ghislaine,

she was very charming.

She was...

witty and quick and instantly engaging in conversation.

I remember, I had, you know, brought some homework with me

that I needed to work on and so...

I think I was actually doing a paper

about some British writers, and so I remember

talking to Ghislaine about that.

I felt quickly comfortable with her,

and, as a young woman, I looked up to her

as maybe an older-sister type.

Annie Farmer testifies

that Maxwell tried to abuse her when she was just 16,

as she explained in the same candid interview.

I laid on the table,

and I was very aware

that the door was open,

and I could be seen getting a massage.

And then, at some point, she just takes the sheet down,

so she, you know, exposed my breasts.

And I feel uncomfortable, I feel like

Epstein can probably see me right now.

And she touches me around my chest,

but blurring the boundaries of normal or not normal.

This was such a scary situation for me.

So I just needed to like...

just to manage that,

and to go on as if everything was normal.

What was a little difficult for us

to really shape our minds around

was that there wasn't significant sexual abuse.

And the thing is, it didn't have to happen.

The intent had to be there. And the intent was there.

And we all agreed that the intent was there.

Another survivor, known only as "Jane",

but reportedly now a US soap star,

details years of sexual abuse at the hands of the couple.

The woman who gave evidence as Jane

is now 41 years old.

But she was speaking about the events of her life

when she was 14,

when she was first befriended by Jeffrey Epstein

and Ghislaine Maxwell.

She went on to recount multiple times

that she was involved in sex acts,

including both of the couple and other people.

She had just recently lost her father,

so they weren't in a very good financial situation.

So things were hard for them.

And...

Jeffrey and Ghislaine used those sorts of situations

to prey on their victims.

And that leads into

how they entice them in order to keep them coming back.

They pay them.

They paid Jane every time she was there.

Can you describe the grooming process

and how Ghislaine was central to it?

All of the women were recruited

by a young female.

They were not recruited directly by Jeffrey Epstein.

And we know now, according to a lot of the victims,

that Ghislaine was right there in the middle.

It was really a pyramid scheme with Jeffrey Epstein at the top,

then Ghislaine, and then all of these younger girls

who were recruiters.

Ghislaine was essentially the pimp or the madam,

who brought girls and young women to Jeffrey Epstein,

who could then sexually assault them.

And, in addition, many times she, herself,

was involved in the sexual assaults directly.

You know, most young women

may think twice about going off

with an older man who you don't know.

But if it's a woman,

you're going to be more trusting.

And Ghislaine took advantage of that.

Ghislaine got me to the point where I trusted her so much

to where I then walked myself to a predator's home.

You know, where I was at some point going to be abused.

She seemed like somebody they could trust.

She could be funny. She seemed to have a good time in life.

And really, what she did, according to all of these young women,

she normalised Jeffrey Epstein's behaviour.

She really set the tone

that enabled him to be the predator that he was.

I thought that she was a really good person.

You know, she has this beautiful home.

She's with the President.

She has a butler. She has a driver.

I mean, that was a really solid impression on me

that this woman is a good person.

She comes from a socialite background.

She probably had very highly developed

and charming social skills.

And women trusted her.

People trusted her.

Maxwell was born into wealth and privilege,

every inch the billionaire's daughter.

She fits in totally

with the sort of posh, socialite lifestyle

of London, you know.

Her friends are from Eton.

Her friends are from posh girls' schools.

I mean, I think,

the idea of being at her father's table,

why wouldn't you like sitting down with presidents and kings?

Irresistible.

Ghislaine Maxwell has said that she met Jeffrey Epstein

in 1991.

Jeffrey Epstein was a very wealthy man.

He started as a lowly floor trader and assistant

at Bear Stearns.

He wasn't making any money,

but somehow he was very good with the rich and powerful men.

He's an interesting character.

We always used to call him J Gatsby. The mysterious Great Gatsby.

He came from a very poor background, working-class background.

He was a school teacher.

And we still to this day don't know how he made so much money.

But he made a great deal of it.

And so the two of them together combining forces

meant that he had access

to the social world that he very much wanted.

And she got to live this lavish lifestyle.

In the '90s,

Maxwell and Epstein were the toast of New York

and its celebrity party scene.

They kept their contacts in a little black book.

If you were on the social scene in the '90s

and you were not in that address book,

then you didn't exist.

I, erm, I think

in the little black book with my name misspelt.

We were pretty good friends. And I'd often go to parties

and see her typically talking to someone interesting or famous.

Maxwell and Epstein would also hold parties and dinners

in his extravagantly furnished mansion

just off Manhattan's Fifth Avenue.

When you ring the doorbell,

the door opens and there are immaculately coifed

20-year-old girls.

There would be copious champagne and caviar,

and Ghislaine would be busily

making sure everybody was comfortable,

had drinks and entertaining.

She was the mistress of the house.

Jeffrey was really the front man,

and Ghislaine was the accomplice.

You know, it was kind of like a Batman and Robin,

and they were a double act.

I don't think Jeffrey could have

done any of it without Ghislaine.

And Ghislaine was crucial to getting those girls,

was she, do you think, to those dinners?

I think he just kind of sat back

and sort of waited for her to sort of go fishing

and go find however many girls were needed, you know..

to entertain his friends.

I think I was pretty much used as bait,

you know, looking back at it.

You know, I was really young and naive,

and, you know, she's entertaining

these, you know, big businessmen.

Erm, so...

Yeah, I didn't realise it, of course, at the time,

but looking back, anyone that was like my age,

or a model.

There was one evening that Jeffrey called me a few times.

He was like hounding me to meet,

go meet with her, and...

What was his name?

She was with a rock star.

What was his name? I can't even remember his name now.

With the big lips,

kind of weird guy with the stringy hair.

What was his name? Mick Jagger.

Jeffrey was really upset with me because I didn't go.

There is no suggestion that Mick Jagger was involved in

or aware of this request.

Looking back at those parties,

just a very, very odd air about it.

Epstein wasn't having fun. Didn't want to have fun.

Was just collecting, collecting something.

It wasn't entirely clear what.

So, yeah, it was pretty weird.

I look back now and I wonder...

did I miss any signals?

Should I have known anything? Could I have known anything?

Obviously, you can't choose whose address book you're in.

And there's no suggestion

that any of the people who were in the book or attended parties

were aware or involved in Maxwell and Epstein's crimes.

The names and numbers in here are vast.

It's not exactly a "little" black book by any means.

The one that really catches your attention

is the one up here.

And this is for the Duke of York.

Duke of York, Buckingham Palace, London.

His address, it says here,

and then there are numbers for Sunninghill,

Wood Farm, his equerry, Balmoral.

There's what looks like a mobile phone number on here for him.

I'm gonna give it a go.

I mean, that sounded like Prince Andrew's voice.

Explosive testimony

at the Ghislaine Maxwell sex trafficking trial.

Jeffrey Epstein's personal pilot says,

under oath, he flew former presidents,

Hollywood stars and a prince

on the convicted sex offender's private jet.

Larry Visoski, the pilot of Epstein's

private Boeing 727,

has been called to give evidence by the prosecution.

Nicknamed the Lolita Express

because of the number of young women that were transported on it...

Visoski also testified Epstein introduced him

to a young woman as they once boarded,

since identified as "Jane".

They want to prove that one of Epstein's victims was on the plane,

and crucially, that Maxwell had a role in transporting her

to be sexually abused.

Larry Visoski did say that he met her

on the private jet.

And he said that Jeffrey Epstein introduced him to her.

So he definitely placed her on the plane.

David Rodgers, another Epstein pilot,

kept meticulous personal flight logs,

showing Maxwell and Epstein

travelled on hundreds of flights together.

These pictures released by the prosecution

show Maxwell on the plane,

massaging Epstein's feet against her breasts.

Sarah Ransome, another Epstein survivor

attending the trial,

bravely gave an interview in 2019 detailing his disturbing behaviour.

He started having full, erotic sex

in front of the entire plane.

I thought that I was the mad one

because everyone else found it completely normal.

The logs make uncomfortable reading for many A-listers.

In particular, President Bill Clinton,

who flew on the plane at least nine times.

In 2010, Maxwell was a guest at Chelsea Clinton's wedding.

Clinton was definitely very close to Jeffrey.

I don't know if you saw the paintings

that were in Jeffrey Epstein's house?

One of them being a portrait of Bill Clinton

wearing the dress that Monica Lewinsky wore

when they had the affair.

So, yeah, he was super close to Jeffrey Epstein.

They were like brothers, you know, and...

he was close to Ghislaine as well.

In court, the pilots testified

that they saw no sexual activity on Epstein's planes.

However, David Rodgers has previously said

that he saw a member of the Royal Family on board.

These are the flight logs

that show that Prince Andrew was on board

at least three times.

And, for example, if you look at page 62,

it shows here, 9th February 1999,

you go across and you can see JE, Jeffrey Epstein,

GM, Ghislaine Maxwell,

and in full words, Prince Andrew,

plus his personal protection officer.

There is no suggestion that Prince Andrew,

Bill Clinton, or any passengers, were aware of or involved

in any of Maxwell or Epstein's crimes.

Bill Clinton denies being close to Epstein.

I want to get to the bottom

of how well Prince Andrew and Ghislaine Maxwell know each other,

and how he became embroiled in the scandal.

They were good friends.

I don't know how often she may have got to see him

at Buckingham Palace.

I met him a few times in London.

She didn't take any shit from anyone,

prince, pauper, it made no difference.

That was the way we were brought up.

So I think that Prince Andrew

would have found that rather refreshing.

Maxwell was a student at Balliol College, Oxford,

alongside Boris Johnson.

It was in that social circle that she met Prince Andrew.

He really was a dashing prince.

He was serving in the military.

"Randy Andy", as he was known.

No, thank you.

When Andrew married Sarah Ferguson, he put his bachelor days behind him.

But by 1991, the marriage had hit the rocks.

In the same year, Maxwell's life was also turned upside down.

Good evening. The publisher Mr Robert Maxwell,

owner of the Daily Mirror, died today off the Canary Islands.

His body has been recovered from the scene.

Then it all started to tumble down,

you know, that he'd stolen 400 million or 500 million

of pension funds.

It was very unseemly, and it looked like he was a crook.

This had to have a big effect on Ghislaine.

With Robert Maxwell dead, the spotlight turned on the family

as the police investigated fraud at the Mirror Group.

The early-morning arrest of Kevin Maxwell...

The shock of discovering

that what they thought they had, they didn't have.

That what they thought their father owned,

he really didn't possibly own.

That the money wasn't there

in the way that they thought the money was there.

That there would be court cases,

possible prison,

all these things coming

after the death would have been quite horrendous.

Eventually, both Kevin and Ian Maxwell

were acquitted of all charges.

What Ghislaine had, even if she had no money,

or an income of substance...

..she had contacts,

but essentially, she was broke.

Then, in 1999, according to the Duke of York himself,

Ghislaine Maxwell introduced him to Epstein.

And in July that year, Epstein and Maxwell

visited the Prince at the Queen's Scottish family home,

Balmoral.

The pair are seen relaxing in the Queen's own log cabin

on the estate.

In that moment, I think it just really

called into question

the access that Epstein and Maxwell had to Prince Andrew,

and just really gave you an incredible insight

into the relationship that those three people had.

That relationship also saw the Duke of York

making trips across the Atlantic.

Ghislaine invited me for dinner,

saying, "I'm throwing a dinner party

"at Jeffrey's house for my friend Prince Andrew."

That was the way she described it.

And she described Andrew as being her friend, not Jeffrey's.

I got the sense that Prince Andrew

and Ghislaine had probably been boyfriend and girlfriend

in the past.

They had an easy warmth around each other.

What do you think that Ghislaine and Jeffrey Epstein wanted

from having Prince Andrew at these dinners?

Prince Andrew was a son of the Queen of England.

Americans love that.

You know, Jeffrey loved that, Bill Clinton loved that.

You said that powerful men came to these dinners,

and if women were there, would Prince Andrew have enjoyed that?

Right, I mean, that... Yeah.

I mean, at the end of the day, he's only a man and he's male, right?

So... I mean, I don't think anyone can expect him

to just be a monk in a monastery when he's newly single.

I mean, what is he supposed to do?

I'm going to meet an insider, Paul Page.

He's a former royal protection officer.

He worked here at Buckingham Palace for six years.

My job was to provide 24-hour-a-day armed security for the Queen

and other members of the Royal Family at Buckingham Palace.

Paul Page was later jailed for his involvement

in a multi-million pound property scam.

I first met Ghislaine Maxwell, erm... I think it was 2001.

From the way she was allowed to enter and exit the palace at will,

we realised... suspected

that she may have had an intimate relationship with Prince Andrew.

A colleague of mine remembered her coming in four times in one day

from the morning till the evening.

She kept coming in and out, in and out.

Back then, Paul Page had access

to Prince Andrew's private apartments.

He had about 50 or 60 stuffed toys positioned on the bed,

and, basically, there was a card

the inspector showed us in a draw.

And it's a picture of these bears all in situ on the bed.

And the reason for the laminated picture

was that if those bears weren't put back in the right order

by the maids, he would shout and scream and become verbally abusive.

But it's another address around the corner from Buckingham Palace

that lies at the heart of the allegations

that Prince Andrew is currently facing.

In 2019, Virginia Giuffre revealed

that she was recruited by Maxwell

and instructed to have sex with the Prince

when she was just 17 in this candid interview.

He got up, and he said thanks and walked out and...

I sat there in bed just horrified and ashamed and felt dirty,

and I had to get up and go have a shower and...

And, you know, the next day,

Ghislaine tells me I did a really good job.

You know, she pats me on the back and said,

"You made him really happy."

The Prince says this didn't happen

and can't recall ever meeting Virginia Giuffre.

But there's the small matter of this now infamous picture

of him and her

that, it is claimed, was taken that night

with Maxwell looking on.

The Prince was asked about the photograph

in this revealing and now notorious interview.

You've seen the photo. I've seen the photograph.

How do you explain that? I can't.

Because I don't... I have no...

Again, I have absolutely no memory of that photograph ever being taken.

Do you recognise yourself in the photo...? Oh, yeah.

It's pretty difficult not to recognise yourself.

Your friend suggested that the photo is fake.

I think it's a...

From the investigations that we've done,

you can't prove whether or not that photograph is faked or not

because it is a photograph of a photograph of a photograph.

So it's very difficult to be able to, erm...

to prove it, but...

I don't remember that photograph ever being taken.

We've come to Kinnerton Street in Belgravia.

It's where Ghislaine Maxwell lived,

and where that very famous photograph you'll recognise

of Prince Andrew with his arm around Virginia was taken.

The photograph would have been taken just up there

by that staircase, with Ghislaine looking on,

Prince Andrew and Virginia in the foreground, of course,

and Epstein was behind the camera.

After the trial, one of the survivors, Carolyn Andriano,

waived her anonymity, and said Virginia Giuffre

sent her a text whilst she was in London,

claiming she had slept with Prince Andrew.

Although it's disputed whether her account

corroborates Virginia Giuffre's claim.

4,000 miles away in the Caribbean, there is more evidence

that Virginia and the Prince crossed paths

on Epstein's private island, Little St James,

nicknamed Orgy Island by locals.

It was just a beautiful island, a beautiful home.

There was, like, a trampoline in the water

that we jumped and played on.

And we went to the pool and hung out there.

There were some other younger women there, too.

The flight logs of Epstein's pilot, David Rodgers,

show that Prince Andrew visited the island.

And Virginia Giuffre alleges in her civil claim

that, in 2001, Prince Andrew sexually abused her there.

There were a lot of...

younger girls with us, and it was, erm...

..it was very shocking.

I believe there were eight.

Prince Andrew's lawyers question her reliability

and point to inconsistencies in her various accounts.

They refute all her accusations.

I was trafficked to Prince Andrew.

It was Ghislaine organising all of this for me.

She loved being able to tell everybody what to do, where to go.

"OK, I'm sending you to the island for the weekend

"to take care of so-and-so."

I expected it from a man, but I didn't expect it from a woman.

And, erm...

Yeah... I think that's what hurts the most.

Lisa Phillips was 21 when she first went to Little St James.

We got on the boat, we went over to the island.

We went to the quarters where we were to sleep.

A woman came to the door

and said that Jeffrey was waiting for his massage.

She made it seem like it was something normal,

it was no big deal.

Once we were in the room doing the massage

is where things took a turn, and it...

It wasn't, erm... normal any more.

Many people talk about just freezing,

and I understand that.

No, I went along with it.

That's the truth.

That's just what happens in those situations.

Yeah.

You're not gonna kick and scream and fight and yell

when you're on an island.

Yeah. So...

Speaking to Lisa Phillips has brought up something

that happened to me when I was 12, it happened once.

And that person is dead now,

and so I have an understanding

of what it's like in the moment.

And...

why you would never want to speak of it again.

What I faced was different

from what Epstein and Maxwell's survivors went through,

but it's still something that will stay with me.

As she was going through, just describing what happened to her

in that room with Epstein, you know,

I'm back in the room that I was in when I was 12.

Excuse me. Step away.

Did Miss Maxwell instruct you to pick up young girls?

At the Ghislaine Maxwell trial in New York,

Juan Alessi, the butler at Epstein's luxury six-bedroom house

in Palm Beach, Florida, is called to give evidence.

Juan Alessi claimed in his testimony

that Ghislaine Maxwell did entice underage girls

to the house to massage Jeffrey Epstein.

Allegations that really go to the heart of this trial,

and allegations that Ghislaine Maxwell herself denies.

Alessi says that he drove Maxwell around Palm Beach

whilst she was looking to recruit young women for Epstein.

One of those was Virginia Giuffre.

Like, her entire day was, like,

running around in the car with the butler,

trying to go find other little girls to bring into his home for abuse.

So, in my perspective, she...

she's the real monster here.

In the trial, the prosecution needs to demolish the idea

that Maxwell was herself a victim.

Juan Alessi pointed to how she was actually number two

in this whole scheme, and she not only worked for Epstein,

she was the lady of the house.

I mean, he worked there for years,

so he had lots of information to share with us.

Alessi describes a 58-page household manual,

which was issued by Maxwell.

It's a strict code of conduct for the staff

at the Palm Beach house, and I think gives us a glimpse

into what daily life was like.

For example, "What to say after entering the room."

"Greet Mr Epstein, Miss Maxwell and/or their guests, 'Good morning.'

"You do not expound on the weather.

"You have no idea how they're feeling."

And most sinister, ironically under the title Grooming...

"Remember that you see nothing, hear nothing,

"say nothing."

In 2005, police raided Epstein's Palm Beach mansion

after receiving complaints

that underage girls were being sexually abused.

The officers were searching for evidence

to corroborate their stories.

Investigative journalist Stephen Wright has also looked into

what was going on there in the early 2000s.

We went to the home of Juan Alessi,

former butler at Epstein's Palm Beach home.

I was there about an hour with him

talking about Epstein,

talking about the type of young women who used to visit.

The naked pool parties,

the pictures of scantily clad and naked girls on the wall.

The massages.

The image that Alessi painted was of a place of...

..you know, almost debauchery, in a way, but not in an illegal way.

He spoke about Prince Andrew visiting while he was there,

and he spoke about

a number of young women and...

..they were topless in the swimming pool.

And that's how it was there.

And I... asked him...

because we knew then that Epstein liked massages from young women,

a number of the women who visited this home were masseurs.

I said, "Did Andrew have massages?"

And he said, "Yes."

But, again, I have to state,

he didn't suggest any of the masseurs were underage.

There is no evidence

that Prince Andrew had any sexualised massages.

I would say that Andrew was...

put himself in a dangerous situation

in terms of the company he was keeping and that lifestyle.

It didn't seem right for a senior royal to be at that location.

At the trial, it's established that around that time,

at the Palm Beach mansion,

Maxwell was involved in paying 14-year-old Carolyn Andriano

to give sexualised massages to Epstein.

We heard today from Carolyn,

the woman who says she was 14

when she was taken to the Epstein home.

And when she was taken to the house,

she knew that she was going to be asked to do massage for money.

She said she didn't expect to have to take her clothes off.

But, in the hundreds of other times that she visited,

she felt more comfortable and did.

She went on to say that on another occasion

that Ghislaine Maxwell had touched her body

when she was naked in the massage room.

Carolyn, her testimony was the most gripping.

I felt the most compassion for her

because she literally had one of the hardest life stories.

Regardless of her being arrested,

or her habitually doing drugs and addicted to pain pills,

what matters is did you tell truth, did this happen to you?

And... she told the truth every step of the way.

The charges relating to Carolyn are the most serious,

and for this alone,

Maxwell could be facing more than 40 years behind bars.

Jeffrey Epstein went to jail just before ten this morning.

He pleaded guilty in open court.

He agreed to serve a total of 18 months

in a Palm Beach detention facility.

But when Epstein was convicted in 2008 for a lesser charge,

he received a much lighter sentence.

And by August 2010, he was a free man.

Just four months later,

British journalist Annette Witheridge was alerted

to a potential scoop in New York.

I got a phone call from the News Of The World saying,

"Oh, apparently Prince Andrew's in town.

"Anyway you can find him?"

So, I thought, where could he be? Jeffrey Epstein.

As I got nearer to Jeffrey Epstein's place,

there were various gentlemen in suits outside

talking into their cufflinks with English accents.

And I thought that's it, these are Andrew's people.

The royal protection squad.

It seemed to be that every 20 minutes,

there was a girl or two going into Jeffrey Epstein's house

or coming out.

And there were a lot of them.

I really couldn't believe that Prince Andrew

was inside that place with all these young girls coming and going.

He knew that Jeffrey Epstein was a convicted paedophile

who'd been to jail.

The door opened...

Andrew was greyer than I imagined him to be,

and Epstein is very white grey.

The photographer jumped out of the car

and followed them into Central Park.

You could just see the headline.

You know, The Prince And The Pervert.

It is a, "What are you doing, Prince Andrew?"

A really astonishing lack of judgement on the part of somebody

who is a representative of a proud nation.

It's astonishing that a member of the Royal Family

could make an error of judgement so profound.

The Prince says he never saw any young girls,

and tried to explain his reasons for staying at Epstein's townhouse

in this interview which contains some frank admissions.

You were staying at the house Yes.

It was a convenient place to say. There is...

I mean, I've gone through this in my mind so many times.

At the end of the day, erm...

with the benefit of all the hindsight that one could have,

it was definitely the wrong thing to do.

But at the time, I felt it was the honourable

and right thing to do.

And I-I admit fully that my...

judgement was probably coloured by my, erm...

..tendency to be too honourable, but that's just the way it is.

Count two, not guilty.

Counts one, three, four, five, six were guilty. Count two - not guilty.

We have breaking news. The jury says it's reached a verdict

in the sex trafficking trial of Ghislaine Maxwell,

Jeffrey Epstein's former girlfriend and associate.

She has been found guilty

of five of the six sex trafficking charges against her.

..look down at her feet.

Once the judge had read that final count,

a microphone was passed around to each juror.

It was emotional. There were tears.

There... Because this is somebody's life on the line,

and the prosecution had to prove beyond a reasonable doubt

that Ghislaine Maxwell was guilty of these crimes,

and... we all felt comfortable.

But the emotional toll that it took on all of us

after spending a week combing through all of the evidence,

all of the testimony again, was...

It was brutal.

What was it like going back into the courtroom,

and Ghislaine's there, awaiting your verdict?

I was looking at her the entire time

because I felt like I wanted to see what her reaction would be.

And she...

She looked forward, and wasn't really looking around,

and there was no emotion.

It was just like she was a stone.

Maxwell will be sentenced in June.

But her lawyers say they'll appeal the verdict.

Damn it. Damn. I'm just damn angry.

And I don't see how anyone,

anyone looking at this cannot feel that way.

It's just wrong.

I have devoted a lot of my time,

as have my brother and sisters, to helping Ghislaine.

We believe her, we love her.

And we hope that she will get the justice

that she definitely deserves.

In an extraordinary twist, since the verdict,

Scotty David and at least one other juror have revealed

they disclosed they were sexually abused as children

during the jury deliberations.

Maxwell's lawyers believe that this may be grounds for a retrial.

But for the survivors, justice has been done.

I don't feel at all that she deserves freedom.

I believe that she deserves to be in a jail cell

for a very long time.

I don't think people realise

how much it really does ruin a young person's life.

And it carries through your life as an adult.

Even becoming a mother, you know,

you're constantly thinking and confused about what happened.

Why did it happen?

Because she was a woman, she normalised abuse.

She participated, she tortured me and others.

And she's worse than Jeffrey.

She broke the sisterhood.

She broke that bond.

She was supposed to be a protector and nurturer,

and she failed us.

And she'll have to live with that for the rest of her life.

Prince Andrew, the Queen's son,

does now face a civil court case in the United States

on those sexual abuse allegations made by Virginia Giuffre.

I really hope that the authorities continue to put the pressure on him.

He needs to be held accountable.

We need to show the world

that the rich and the mighty can fall, too, you know?

I think that there needs to be a new change.

The downfall of a duke, stripped of every military title

given by his mother and no longer known as HRH.

The Queen casts out her favourite son.

The Queen has been forced to take action,

and the Prince will now be facing his court battle

as a private citizen.

Virginia Giuffre is of huge concern to the Queen

and the rest of the Royal Family.

Certainly, senior royals have been absolutely at a loss

about this situation that Prince Andrew has not got a hold on.

He's had more then two years to face up to these allegations,

and his lawyers, first and foremost,

thought that they didn't need to explain themselves,

they didn't need to really give this any further oxygen.

Well, that has proved an absolutely catastrophic decision.

We invited Prince Andrew to respond to all the claims,

but he declined to comment.

At the heart of this story is Jeffrey Epstein,

a powerful man who indulged his criminal fantasies

with no thought for the damage it caused.

And the cold immorality of the woman who helped make that happen.

Anyone they came into contact with has put their reputation at risk.

And some have a long way to fall.
