KIMORA: I want my kids to have something other than modeling.

Well mom, you know that I’ve been doing Boulangerie.

My mom told me to get a job, so this is my job.

to do something besides modeling.

He’s 15, I’m not sure how I feel about it.

you have to take pictures, long hours on set.

How are you going to do all that

I hear we have a really cool project to talk about.

I have an idea for a business that blends

technology and beauty.

I’m 3D printing a few different

beauty tools and things.

So, I’m excited to be here at a 3D printing lab

and get kind of the in-person mechanical stuff figured out.

So what do you plan to do with this?

I have a lot of hair, and I got a lot of girls

on my social media asking where I buy my hair tools.

I wanted to make one that I felt really good about

that I could share with people,

that could be made to order, sustainable.

So I have, like, different mock-ups,

and maybe you can tell me

what’s possible with different materials.

When I was in Bali, I was really struggling

to describe a design to people on email.

The artwork is based on my best hair day.

It’s great, yeah.

AOKI: Now that I’m back,

I’m excited to see if we can produce it.

So it’s a hair comb,

but the mechanics look like this.

The body, upper body, hair, head would be one part.

The teeth of the comb would be another part.

- And it’s a swivel hinge. - Yes.

And so, it has a little stop,

- click into place. - Got it.

My design is an all-in-one beauty tool.

It’s your lifting comb for your hair.

It’s a mirror,

it’s a weapon, I mean, no, I’m kidding.

I thought about adding a keychain hole,

so it can, like, hang off your purse.

Because it’s, like, meant to be pretty

Geez, wow.

All my friends call me "Gadget Girl,"

because I find stuff like this fascinating and interesting.

I’ve photographed a ton, but I haven’t had it

turned into a scan.

Oh, we’ll like you to do 3D model.

AOKI: I want my comb to be cute.

Yeah, that’s perfect, now, looking straight forward,

My mom really wants me to get my masters and then my PhD.

Aoki is so smart and has

such an interesting outlook on things.

So she, of course, would make a sustainable,

natural hair pic, and she did it on her own.

It’s really nice to have her like this idea

because I was worried she’d be like,

So it’s nice to show how this skill I’m into

Growing up, my mom was more likely to say

that she’s proud of me to someone else

or like in a publication or in an interview.
