SISTINE: (screams) Oh, my God!
Hey, Frank's packing some shit, baby.
You got to go like this. Hey, does anybody have a hanky?
Like, pull something. (blows nose)
This is the longest we've been on a holiday all together
with Frank.
After living with Frank in New York,
I was thinking, "Oh, this is gonna be a breeze."
Vacationing with Frank is a whole new Frank.
(laughing) I don't know who this guy is.
Here you go. Watch this. (blows nose)
-Think I need a little more size. -(laughter)
No, you got to put it down the back.
I'll keep it here.
Sly is your typical older brother
that likes to tease the little brother,
and this is just it.
-SISTINE: Oh, my gosh! -(others scream)
JENNIFER: The longer they are together, the worse it is.
That's my hair. No, don't put my hair!
Don't! Dad!
No!
We're never using that hair again.
Hey. (laughs)
Do the collars match the cuffs?
The crazy thing is he's enjoying it.
He doesn't mind that he looks like a clown.
-Right there. -I have to-- Stop it! Stop it. Stop it.
Stop. Take it off. Take it off.
(screams, laughs)
-SISTINE: Those are mine? -SCARLET: Those are mine.
No.
* Talk to me, baby *
* I'm goin' blind from this sweet, sweet craving, whoa-oh *
* Let's lose our minds and go crazy, crazy *
* I-I-I-I-I *
* I-I-I-I-I. *
(cheering)
Ah... Oh, my God. It's scary.
(crowd cheering)
Frankster.
(crowd cheering)
Sly connected his roots. We met the family, but, now,
unexpectedly, we've been invited
to an honorary citizenship ceremony for Sly and Frank.
We get to meet the mayor of Gioia del Colle
where Sly's grandfather had a barbershop
and where he had his home,
which was literally a stone's throw away.
ANNETTE: Now, that's a picture of Sylvester Stallone
in front of his barbershop.
I asked the man when I was there,
I said, "Please, can we go in?"
So, he prod-produces this big key.
I begged the man, I said, "Please,
may I buy the key from you?"
He wouldn't let me have the key.
SCARLET: Oh, my God.
There's so many people.
Hello. Hello.
There's about 3,000 people following.
-Oh, my God. -SCARLET and SISTINE: Oh, my God.
SCARLET: There are so many people.
It just makes me think how
impactful my dad has been.
Sometimes, I forget and... 'cause he's just my dad.
But then I remember
how many people he's touched.
It's quite unbelievable.
I mean, it is a full-on fan frenzy for Sly right now.
FRANK: Okay, let's go.
-(crowd cheering) -FAN: Rocky.
SYLVESTER: When they said they're gonna give me an award
for coming from a town, your ancestors,
and you are now an honorary member
of that town, and you've never been there before,
and you see 10,000 people, and you're
in front of your daughters, that's different kind of award.
That's acceptance from another culture
that you're one of them.
-Yo. -(crowd cheering)
I am so proud
to be part of such beautiful, strong people.
(translating in Italian)
(crowd cheering)
SYLVESTER: 100 years ago,
my grandfather left this city,
and this was the key
to his barbershop.
Earlier today, I was stunned
to receive a key.
I mean, a key like this big.
But it is indeed the original key
-which would open the barbershop. -That's cool.
That belonged to my grandfather's barbershop.
When he locked it up for the last time and left it,
I guess, with the landlord, and he came to America.
Thank God he locked up and went to America. (chuckles)
Otherwise, we wouldn't be here.
My grandfather was brave enough
to make that journey.
(translating in Italian)
And because of that,
I am here today with my family.
(crowd cheering)
I'm sure, in his wildest dreams,
he never thought that that moment would happen.
I'd be in his hometown in front of thousands of people
with the key to his shop.
That means so much to me because the chain
has not been broken.
My Aunt Annette is gonna be happy.
You're on.
-Go. -Where's the mic?
SYLVESTER: Over there.
(band playing "Far from Over" by Frank Stallone)
FRANK: Come. Come on!
* This is the end *
* You made your choice and now my chance *
-* Is over... * -It's really nice
to be in the town
where your father and your aunts and uncles grew up.
Who would think,
80 years later, I'd be singing
in the plaza with my brother.
Him being honored,
us being citizens, and being able
to do it in front of those people. That was pretty cool.
(crowd cheering)
SYLVESTER: I just want to say,
as Rocky would say,
I love you and keep punching.
(crowd cheering)
-SYLVESTER: Goodbye. -CROWD: Rocky! Rocky! Rocky!
SYLVESTER: Arrivederci.
JENNIFER: Frank, can I help you?
FRANK: What am I supposed to do with all this shit?
JENNIFER: Okay, let me help you.
Frank, what's going on here? (laughing)
It's not funny.
Because I'm-I'm just fucking nuts.
I'm just packing and unpacking, and fucking repacking.
It's fucking driving me crazy.
We told Frank he has to be packed and ready to go
to Rome by a certain time.
The plane isn't waiting.
So I call my brother,
and I say, "You understand we are leaving in five minutes."
He goes, "What's the problem? I've been packed for hours."
Let me just take a piss in peace.
-SYLVESTER: Yeah, go ahead. -FRANK: Don't talk to me.
-SYLVESTER: I won't disturb you. -FRANK: All right.
So I walk out of the room, and I hear the faucet go on,
the shower go on.
-(shower running) -SYLVESTER: Of course, I can't take it,
so I sneak into the bathroom,
and the steam is coming out, the water.
I open the glass door, and he's standing there
in cowboy boots with his Levi's
around his ankles.
His fingers in his ear,
and he was humming like... (hums)
-What the hell, will you? -(Sylvester laughs)
JENNIFER: Any time that Sly and Frank go away together...
(laughing) Oh, my God.
JENNIFER: ...Sly loves to play pranks on Frank
since Frank was a baby.
And now, they're still doing it, just adult pranks.
-Aw, fuck. Damn it. -(Sylvester laughing)
FRANK: My hair looked good. Now, it looks like shit.
(bell tolls)
* One shot and I'm hauled in *
* But I don't care 'cause I'm golden... *
-JENNIFER: This is where our hotel is, right up here. -SCARLET: Over here?
Yes, the Spanish Steps are right down there.
I love Rome.
But the best part of being in Rome
is staying in the center of town,
where you can walk to everything from the Spanish Steps.
So, staying at the Hotel de la Ville is fantastic.
-Hi, I'm Arnold Schwarzenegger. -(laughter)
WOMAN: We're so glad that you're here with us.
(elevator bell dings)
-SYLVESTER: Nice. -CONCIERGE: Yeah, this is your suite de la Ville.
JENNIFER: This is spectacular.
Oh, my God.
JENNIFER: Look at this view, Sly.
SCARLET: Oh, my God.
-SYLVESTER: See you around, Jennifer. -(door closes)
JENNIFER: You're so mean. Come on.
SYLVESTER: I'm sorry.
Okay, what's next?
SCARLET: This is stunning.
I cannot... Oh, I feel like I'm yelling. Sorry.
-Look it, there's the Vatican, Sly. -That is the Vatican.
JENNIFER: I don't think it gets better than this.
I was born in Hell's Kitchen. This definitely beats that.
(bell tolls)
Look it. Is this the most...
-This is insanity. -...spectacular view?
So you guys been to Rome before?
-Like, when you were younger? -A lot of times.
-We actually lived here. -We worked here, lived here,
-for months. -Sly-Sly did two movies here. He did, um...
-Daylight. Cliffhanger. -Daylight and also Cliffhanger.
SYLVESTER: People think, when you're doing movies,
"Oh, you're so lucky.
You're in France. You're in Italy."
You're exhausted. You come home,
facedown in the bed, so you don't go anywhere.
-JENNIFER: We didn't go out ever. -Room service every night.
SISTINE: There was no romance in Rome?
Zero.
SOPHIA: Then this is your chance
to redeem the romance of Rome for the two of you.
-Hear, hear. -The city of love.
I'm just so excited that we can all be together.
Every day, we need to do something fun, family-oriented.
Guys, I know how much we all love ice cream.
-Yes. -So, we are going
to go to a world-class,
world-famous ice cream, gelato shop.
-Wait, the one that we went to? -(cheers) -Yes.
Wait, you guys, I've been bragging about this to you guys.
SISTINE: Sophia, it's all she talks about.
-It's this gelato shop. -I don't know if that's a good idea.
-What? -JENNIFER: Why? What?
SYLVESTER: I'm just saying... (stammers)
You saw what happened yesterday.
It was pretty crazy.
-We didn't expect it. -It was really crazy.
But let's just say it sort of happens,
even half of that.
JENNIFER: It's really hard
to travel with Sly because
Sly draws so much attention.
(crowd cheering)
And I think
Sly gets worried that the girls
aren't going to enjoy themselves because
of him being around all the time.
So, sometimes, he actually has to stay in the hotel
so they can go out and do things kind of like everybody else.
-No, no, no. -You know, it could be, it could be a little difficult.
I'm kind of the
vacation goblin,
the destroyer of fun.
Not intentionally, but if I go someplace,
we have what is known as about
a two-hour window before
many people, hundreds,
sometimes thousands, come around.
And the girls can't enjoy their vacation.
So, quite often, they get a head start.
They look through window shopping,
art museum, this and that,
and then I show up
and wreck everything.
JENNIFER: So, what are we gonna do?
I want to go make ice cream.
I know you want to go taste ice cream, right?
Dad, no, you're coming to ice cream.
Dad, you're coming.
My daughters, they love the idea of gelato,
and I'm going, "God, I know how this is gonna turn out."
But time is very precious.
I want to keep this unit together
and do the things I didn't do when I should have done them.
And I feel obligated
that my first priority is my wife and my children,
and everything else pales in comparison.
-Can you take a picture of Sly and I? -SISTINE: Yes, yes, yes.
-Yeah. -Okay, ready?
-(camera clicks) -That one's cute, Mom.
SISTINE: Smile, Uncle Frank.
I want you to-- Can you hold the breadstick in the other hand?
No, no, put your hand...
SCARLET: You're a wizard, Harry.
No, but wait a minute. You need a mustache.
What do you think? Yeah.
You need a nose.
Hey! (mutters) He's an anteater.
-Here you go. How you doing? -Peace.
SYLVESTER: There you go.
-Suck on that. -(laughter)
-(overlapping chatter) -(FaceTime ringing)
Can Louis please answer?
-This is really annoying. -SISTINE: Hold on, I got to...
SCARLET: I'm having the best time with my family,
but I just wish I could share
these experiences with Louis.
But I can't reach him at all.
LOUIS: You're leaving now for two weeks to Italy.
I think this is gonna be a good test to see how we deal with it.
We can't do long-distance. That's the thing.
I-I don't want to go on this trip and then
have doubtful thoughts all the time--
'cause I don't know what you're thinking-- when I'm back.
I didn't ask for your location
-in the wrong reason. -LOUIS (over phone): Yes, you did.
Turn off your location.
-Have fun in Miami. -All right.
I know we didn't agree on some things about our future,
but none of this behavior
makes sense at all.
I don't know what's going on.
(laughter)
SISTINE: Okay, ready?
-* * -(horns honking)
JENNIFER: Are you okay?
Yeah, um...
I look so stupid walking.
-Why? -I have blisters all over my toes.
JENNIFER: You wore ill-fitting shoes.
Do you want to sit right here?
-SCARLET: Yeah, let's sit. -Just talk for a minute.
SCARLET: We walked so much.
JENNIFER: I bet you this wall
is probably a thousand years old.
Oh, 100%.
-Right? -Bet, like, Roman times,
people were climbing up these things, or...
-(laughs) -Tell me a history lesson, geez.
Mom, I'm really stressed about Louis.
-What do you mean? -He's just a little, like...
A little off.
He hasn't been texting me, he hasn't been calling me.
He's been just not himself.
It's hard to let it go when he's pulling back.
He's not answering phone calls, he's being really distant.
-You don't think that's a little weird? -No, I don't.
I think he's going crazy right now with school, new classes.
I have a life as well, but I know how to make time
-for a phone call, and he's not doing that. -Well, listen, you're both...
I do think that you and Louis are fantastic together.
-And... I think-- wait. -I do, too. And it's so hard.
If you have true love, it will work itself out.
I know Scarlet is thinking about Louis
and their relationship and what's going on with it.
And I hope that she stays
in the moment, because we don't get these moments very often,
that we're all together and that she really just spends
her few remaining days really engaged with the family.
-Listen, baby girl... -(mumbles softly)
...your dad and I have been together
through thick and thin for so much.
This little time apart is nothing.
And I promise you, everything is fine.
And hopefully, in time, this, too, shall pass.
All right, give me a hug.
I know, my baby.
-I know you miss him. -Yeah, I know.
(bell tolls)
* *
SISTINE: Oh, my God, you guys.
Dad, Dad, you got to watch, now.
SOPHIA: Giolitti Shop is basically
my personal heaven.
And I've been here before,
and I love this place so much,
and I got to do exactly what we're about to do:
making the gelato, serving it to people.
So I'm stoked that my sisters
get to do this with me this time.
SYLVESTER: Hello, everybody.
(people clamoring)
Us, too.
-Yes. -Just...
SOPHIA: Are you doing it?
SYLVESTER: I'll be protecting everybody.
-Oh, yeah. Okay. -In case you got some ice cream,
freaky bandits around.
Whack.
I see an aura out of my left eye,
it is a migraine aura that is basically telling you
you're about to have the worst next few hours
of your entire life.
-Wait, what? -SISTINE: She's getting a migraine. She has to go.
-Getting a migraine? -SISTINE: A bad one.
She has to go. She's seeing spots.
-Really? -Yeah.
-Why don't you go? -SYLVESTER: Stay with me.
JENNIFER: Okay, one of-- is mine,
-and one is hers, so... -I think I-- I think I need
-to go back and, like, get it. -4-2-3.
-She's gonna faint. -SOPHIA: No, no. (shushes)
Can we not, please, make this a thing?
Can you guys...
I know, can you guys stop? This is really embarrassing.
JENNIFER: Sophia started getting migraines
in her early teens,
so she's been dealing with this for a long time now.
Oh, man, she wanted to do this so much.
I know.
SCARLET: This doesn't feel the same without her.
MAN: Okay, ladies.
We're ready. Ándele.
* *
MAN: This is really watermelon gelato.
Thank you. What...
SISTINE: I'm giving the rinds to dad
like he's a pig.
This stuff's good, man.
MAN: Now we need to move the seeds from inside.
-SISTINE: What are you saying? -JENNIFER/MAN: Seeds.
-Seeds, yeah. -Seeds.
-Okay, my English... -I don't know.
This is a family show. This is a family show.
SISTINE: We're ready to serve.
-(applause) -Who wants to try?
-Anyone want to try? -JENNIFER: You want to try?
Oh, yeah. Thank you.
SISTINE: You have to give a-- give a sample out.
There you go. There you go.
* *
There you go.
Eat this ice cream.
Who wants-- hey!
That's really good.
Anybody? Anybody?
That's a sample if I've ever seen one.
-Yes. -Okay.
SYLVESTER: It's packed.
And it's people taking selfies
and they're, "Can I taste it again?
Can you do it again? Could you put more on the spoon?"
It was wonderful, but it was just overwhelming.
And the thing that I couldn't get past that...
the one that wanted to do it the most was back at the hotel
with a brutal migraine.
It's ringing.
I'm gonna go take a break with your dad.
Hey, Sly.
-I feel so bad for her. -She...
-I can't get her and she's... -No, no, no.
She's back at the hotel. Listen to me.
She's back at the hotel, she's taking a bath.
-She took her medicine. -Yeah, but I really...
I know, but she's gonna be okay, honey.
The-the hotel knows she's not feeling well.
-They'll check on her. -I know, but she was looking
-so forward to this. -I know.
I know.
-She'll be okay. She's okay. -This poor girl
never gets a break.
JENNIFER: Sophia?
-Sophia? -(shushes)
She has a headache.
Sophie, girl.
-SOPHIA: Yeah. -Hi, baby.
-Hi, Mom. -Aww.
-I'm so sorry. -SOPHIA: This sucks.
It sucks.
-I... -(sniffles)
-Aww, I brought... -SYLVESTER: It's a shock it came on so fast.
JENNIFER: I love you, my angel.
You were looking forward to the ice cream thing
-and everything. -SOPHIA: I know.
I brought you some. Do you want a little taste?
SOPHIA: No, not... (sighs)
-JENNIFER: Not yet? -Mm-mm.
-Okay. -How do they come on so fast?
We're talking about ice cream, the next second,
-all of a sudden. -SOPHIA: Yeah. Yeah.
It, like, there's no, like, lead-up to migraines.
It just, it comes on.
You think you will be feeling any better by dinner?
JENNIFER: We have, uh, reservations.
This is gonna take a couple hours.
You want to have dinner here?
Yeah, let's just stay here.
We will bring dinner to you.
-SOPHIA: Are you sure? -BOTH: Yeah.
-(shushes) Use a little voice, honey. -Yeah...
-You're Foghorn Leghorn. -I am Foghorn Leghorn.
JENNIFER: It's so hard to see Sophia in so much pain.
All I know is that what we can do is just tell her
we're here for her and support her and love her.
But other than that, it's just got to pass, and...
Our hands are tied here. We can't help her too much.
I love you, baby.
-SYLVESTER: Love you. -We will see you later.
-SOPHIA: Okay. -SYLVESTER: Right.
-Okay. -Just a few feet away.
-Bye. Love you. -SOPHIA: Bye.
* *
JENNIFER: I feel so bad for my baby.
SYLVESTER: Maybe I can eat her ice cream.
* *
-SISTINE: Who wants pepperoni? -SCARLET: Not me.
SOPHIA: I'm gonna get another headache.
Are you getting a headache?
-Yes. -(shushes) Okay, guys,
we have to take it down a little bit,
-'cause Sophia's getting another headache. -SYLVESTER (high-pitched): Look.
Hello. (mumbles)
JENNIFER: Sly. Sly.
Cheers to Sophia's migraine.
-SYLVESTER: Yay. -(whoops)
SYLVESTER: We'll drink to that.
The point of being in Rome as a family
is to do things as a family.
We want to make sure Sophia has the best night ever,
even if it means staying in.
-SYLVESTER: Oh, yeah! -Oh, my God.
-(laughs) -Oh! Finally. Where have you been?
-Looking good. -Look who decided to show up.
-JENNIFER: Frank. Frank, why... -Look at the arms on this.
SCARLET: Why is he wearing cowboy boots?
SOPHIA: Even though I know that they are
a loud family and definitely wouldn't help
my migraine-- maybe make it a little worse--
they're the best, and I really appreciate
that they decided to stay in
and wallow with me. (chuckles)
What do you think of Scarlet's deep voice?
It's great.
That's like, Lauren Bacall had a deep voice.
-JENNIFER: Yeah, that's right. -For a young guy with, like,
a baseball hat sideways, if a girl came up.
(breathy): "So how are you, big boy?"
Bingo. You know what I mean?
-(laughs) -Because they're talking to girls like,
(slurring): "You, are you for sure,
there aren't frickin' bell peppers in here."
-(laughs): "Bell peppers." -So you get a girl with a deep, sexy voice...
-What do bell peppers have to do with anything? -I don't know.
-And the guy went like a... -(Sylvester coughs, retches)
-Dad! -(laughter)
SISTINE: Ew, Dad! What the heck?
FRANK: And a guy goes like this.
-And the guy goes... -SISTINE: Dad!
SYLVESTER: Frank says this stupid thing,
it's an inside joke
about pizza, and he's going,
(slurring): "Hey, for sure,
"there ain't no bell peppers on the pizza.
You for sure?"
And I fucking... boom.
Oh-- What? It's all over his food.
FRANK: And the guy goes,
(accent): "Eh, can you get some bell peppers?"
SCARLET: Wait, how is he
still talking like that?
(laughter)
SYLVESTER: You made me spit on my dinner.
I-- no, you spit all over
-the carpet. -On myself. Okay, I've had it.
SCARLET: I'm having an amazing time with my family.
But I've been putting the situation with Louis and I
in the back of my head this whole time.
I'm really trying not to think about it,
but it's been on my mind constantly.
I-I feel like he's ghosting me.
* *
(bell tolls)
JENNIFER: This is the most perfect view.
-SOPHIA: It really is. -It doesn't look real.
-Hey, baby. -Hey, guys.
SYLVESTER: Hi.
Hi, honey bunny.
Really?
Ow, ow. C-Can you do me a favor, baby love?
Right near the bedside is a little thing with pills.
-Yeah. -Hurry, baby.
Hurry, hurry, please.
Bedroom, bedside.
* *
Surprise.
I actually don't feel like this is real right now.
Seeing Louis just made my heart want to explode.
LOUIS: The way we left it
just didn't sit right with me.
The future didn't involve both of us.
SYLVESTER: It's wonderful to vacation with Jennifer.
Finally, I can dote on her.
-What are you doing? -When in Rome,
do as the Romans,
so I say we take a Roman shower.
* Come on now, roll with the crazy *
* Dance like 1980 *
* Ooh, ooh *
* Roll with the crazy *
* Dance like 1980 *
* *
* Roll with me, baby *
* You ain't gonna save me *
* Ooh, ooh. *
