I've had to overcome my own grief,

especially during the holiday season.

of year is personal for you.

do you mind sharing briefly?

I don't.

I lost my daughter to brain cancer

three years ago on Christmas.

And it was difficult for us.

We tried everything from chemotherapy treatments

to various medicines, to meeting with some

of the best doctors and it wasn't enough.

It wasn't.

And eventually the doctors told us

that the cancer had started to spread rapidly.

Ooh, um, so a few days later,

she passed away and it hit us hard.

Hard.

I felt lifeless.

I had to figure out how move forward without Candace.

My daughter meant everything to me.

Thank you.

And I'm a mother, so I don't know

what I would do if I lost my daughter Sky.

My mission in starting this facility was

because of my relationship with alcohol.

I lost my job, my family, my house,

all because I was more connected to the bottle

and it ruined my entire life.

It alienated me.

my career, and now I'm on the verge of losing my daughter.

I don't get to see her like I used to.

And I'm not gonna lie, it's been very hard.

I just wanna, I just want my baby girl back.

But I had to realize that I had to find me first.

And it took my baby girl reminded me that I needed

to surrender everything to God in order to heal.
