Okay, so a lot of people think that the country was actually founded in 1776,

and that's when we got our Constitution and when everything came about.

But, well, that was like the Declaration of Independence. The Constitution

itself wasn't until, like, 1800.

When the country started, it was the Articles of Confederation, and it wasn't

even one country. Like, every, all the 13 states were their own country in

themselves, and they were just confederated together with one, like,

government that was weak and ineffectual, couldn't have its own army

own, like...

issue currency, all the things that are needed for a country, so there's

problems, and that's why eventually, in the 1800s, they decided to make the

country better.

But that's actually where the term state comes from.

See, a state is normally like a nation, not like one part. They're more like

what you would consider provinces or something in any other country. So the

United States is the only country that would call what we call states states.

Everything else is a nation state. The United States is a nation state, not 50

states. But that's just like we used the word wrong because when it started back

in like the 1780 or so with the Articles of Confederation, that's how it was.

So yeah, that's something to know about it.

This isn't even in the book right now. We're not even learning about this in

school.
