but even though they're all so different,

I really feel like the lads are starting to come together as a team.

Everyone has a different personality.

People have their strength, like Oisin

is very good at history and chess.

Hugo, he's very like, he's very good at tech and all.

And then there's, like Jamar, Cathal, very good at sports.

And like Sean as well, he's very good at sports.

And then there's people like Jacob that are very like outgoing,

they talk a lot,

em, in a good way. And then there's others that are like

Asher, he's really good at basketball.

It's a bit like unique, I think.

And then, like Patrick, he's actually very good

at the bat in rounders.

We came in in the morning.

We did rounders, more rounders,

My generation

is the generation, I would say

that couldn't care less in the sense of,

you know, somebody's a different race?

Not my problem.

Somebody is a different gender?

My generation

doesn't seem to care about the little things.

As a teenager growing up, there was certain times that were very difficult,

you know, dark moments in there.

And it was very difficult to try and deal with those things,

but I just couldn't, I didn't have the tools.

Um, but fortunately enough,

I had sports as an outlet, kind of a

place of peace, because I could forget.

It was really kind of a nice escape.

I do tap dancing, and I do, um,

it's like, there's a bit of hip hop. There's a bit of like

jazz. It's a bit of everything.

And then when I go back, uh, to dancing, I'm gonna be doing lyrical.

Be a man.

When I grew up in Germany, there was a lot more racial abuse

than there was in Ireland.

I got quite picked on a lot.

Um, but, you know,

after a certain time, it just kind of went over my head.

I just kind of had the attitude like, "so, I don't care".

In school, I'm going to one of the guys that I do dancing with.

He also does dancing.

He's in third year and he doesn't say a thing.

He was like "Charlie, don't say a thing about it".

He was like, "Just don't. You'll get slagged terribly about it".

And me dad and me ma's even been like "be careful".

I do it and to be honest, I don't care

if they said anything for the simple reason being

I don't care.

I love Oisin. Like Oisin is just one of a kind.

He just, he is him.

He just does his own thing and he just brushes it off like, which is so impressive.

It's so interesting to see it unfold like I mean, for example, Sean,

you know, the first day he he was very quiet, and

I think he was a little bit weary of this. But like even today,

he was so much more talkative towards me and towards the other lads.

And you know, I seen, like, perked up a little bit.

I do K1 kayaking,

and I train 18 hours a week at it.

I found the sport because I was at a funeral,

my great granny's funeral.

And then my dad's cousin was there, and he's a three time Olympian

in kayaking, so I asked my parents to do it.

And I'm best in Ireland for my age.

because like it means I burn out a lot faster at the end of the day.

Though, when I train before school, I just like

the rest of the school day just flies by.

I get to that stage where sometimes, if I'm not training for a while,

just sitting around all day

like you just feel bad, like you just feel like you're in a rut.

It's very interesting to see what different guests,

how differently they react to them.

I mean, the greatest kind of chat we've had so far was with Luke

when he came in and we were just kind of sitting down in the field,

and it was great insight to how they were dealing with emotions.

As well as a captain,

have you ever got really, really annoyed at someone and, like,

got into a big argument with them?

Yeah, that's happened yeah, yeah.

With opposition players with my own players, but it's never personal,

you know? It just usually comes from a place of both of you wanting to

win and maybe having a disagreement about how to get there.

But it's part of sport. It will happen

If there's one man who's been like bugging me all game,

has been like shouldering me, fouling me, no one seen it.

I won't shake his hand.

I'm not proud of it. It's just I get so angry in the moment.

One thing I will say, even though you know you get upset or whatever,

always shake hands after the game.

It's just a respect thing for me as well.

It just shows good sportsmanship.

I definitely didn't have that kind of knowledge at 13.

But, uh, yeah, it was a different time for me. I don't know about you.

Yeah, I was just football obsessed.

I would have always dreamed of playing for Man United.

I'm a Man United fan. You know, as I got older, I learned that it's

it's very, very difficult to get to that level

and when I do retire, I'll look back and well,

I didn't maybe get to the heights I wanted to,

but I'll be happy with what I've done.

Obviously, Luke is a great football player,

but maybe he didn't get to his dreams as much as he wanted to.

Obviously, he got really big achievements playing for Shelbourne,

but maybe his childhood dreams.

And he kind of talked about his dreams and reality and

how he kind of came to terms with it.

And I thought that was really, really interesting.

Yeah, everyone was really open in that conversation.

And yeah, it was really interesting to have everyone's view and everything.

So that was good.

Jordan, I have a question for you. Go ahead.

What do you do when you get angry?

I was actually a very

angry kid at your ages.

And I just put a wall up, and so yeah, I was a very

emotional kind of teenager emotional kid

with a lot of anger issues which you mightn't see now.

I calmed down a lot.

How I deal with problems now... Much different? Much different.

The way I do it is I just step back from the situation

and just kind of let things calm down.

I don't really get angry about many things. I mean, I just kind of let it roll off.

It's not worth the time. JORDAN: Have you ever had an outburst though like?

Not really. I just go up and sleep.

You go up and sleep it off? Yeah.

So, like, I was racing in Spain

and I was winning the whole thing. And I was, like,

20 metres ahead of second place.

Because I got so far ahead, I caught up with the K2s

and one of them knocked me in.

So then my boat filled with water, and then I was trying to empty it.

And when I was getting back in, the other boat was coming by

and then on the podium, I tried to smile. It didn't work out the best.

And in every picture, I'm just like...

Even when everyone was mouthing at me to smile.

And you just couldn't help hide what you're really feeling,

which isn't a bad thing, I don't think.

You know, you were expressing how you felt inside

and you weren't faking it.

Where did you get? What?

Where'd you get, 2nd or 3rd? 2nd. Yeah.

CHARLIE: That's so good though. That's very good.

CHARLIE: That's still good. I probably would'a came last.

(they laugh) I'd be the person like, "how does this work?"

Like I get annoyed quite a bit, so.

In sports or just..? In general. In general?

Yeah? Yeah. What kind of things annoy you, like?

Just everyday life or? Getting given out to.

Because I go, "Oh, yeah do you want me to do anything, Mam?"

And then like, and then my mam says no.

But then it's like, but then it turns out I'm meant to have an initiative,

and, like, go and do the stuff myself?

(scoffs) I hate that!

I'm so tired.

Uh, I found a new position in rounders that I really like.

Now it's pitcher, but Darragh is a lot better than me.

So it probably won't happen, but it'd be good as a second choice.

Don't know if we're gonna be able for the national champions or

whatever they call them.

I think we're going to get destroyed, just between me and you.

I think we're all like getting to know each other a bit better.

I think we got to see people's more... them true selves.

At Checkpoint Charlie, tanks are brought up to the border.

I have a few friends that they're big into philosophy.

(chuckles) They've banned me from talking about

most major topics.

So, I'm not allowed to talk about socialism, capitalism, communism,

anarchy.

Uh, any major 'ism' is off the table.

Can I go through it or not? You can go through it.

Some lads I kinda feel like are tasting, a bit of freedom, you know,

when they have kind of rein to do what they want.

And sometimes some boys are kind of becoming wilder than others, you know?

And I feel like that's kind of normal when you have a

group of young lads and you're doing exciting things.

So today I have something completely different planned for them.

It's, you know, something they've never done before.

So I just kind of want to see how they handle it.

I've never really- they're like behaviours.

I've never seen that kind of behaviour before.

Like, I myself go to an all boys school

and like I don't really talk to any girls.

So, like, it's just funny for us to sing that.

I think it should be for both genders, though,

because I don't really think there's anything that makes it girly or boys.

I live with my mam, my step-dad and two sisters.

One of my sister lives with my grandparents because she's in

college and there's a lot of noise around the house.

So she lives there so she can, like, study and all a bit.

And then my real dad lives in Galway.

I go to see him a few times in the year or what not.

Used to see him every second weekend, but it's gone down a lot

Like I talk to him a lot on, like on WhatsApp and what not

So yeah, I don't really, like get affected by it.

I thought it was going to be like fake snow and water,

but instead it was like astro turf.

But like, really cut down slow with lots of water.

And the astro turf was like white.

And I said that I'll never fall down but I fell down like, 10 times.

So, like, yeah, it was kind of embarrassing, but it's OK.

It was very fun, actually.

Everyone kind of wants their individual time

to be able to show off, or just to show how good they are.

In a way, it's sort of like being validated by the others.

I wanna do all the turning and flinging the snow into the air,

except there is no snow, so.

We got to go skiing, you know, like I fell over and hurt my knee,

but it was still really fun.

And then I get a lot frustrated if I can't,

if something's just not working for me in sport or what not,

I get really angry.

There was like one person that just really annoyed me today

about not being good enough at the thing.

At the skiing.

But I used to lash out a lot.

But now I'm kind of kept it under control a bit.

Like all this stuff with like "count to 10" and all that,

that never really helped me.

Whenever someone said that, I felt like punching them even more.

I just knew I had to stop because, like, my mam was getting really annoyed at me.

And then I just kind of stopped after that.

I didn't think of that as a sport. That was just fun.

Because it's something I don't get to do a lot,

and I think I'm pretty good at it.

What happened was that he went down his slope while Patrick

was taking it easy.

And he nearly just kind of skied across him,

which could have caused a very big accident.

And I could kind of feel a little shift in his behaviour,

and you know his mood.

And I think it was just because it was the first time I gave out to someone

which is natural.

It is a little bit draining from the mental side of it.

They're always wanting your attention and

you're always talking and you're always switched on.

So that's even learning curve for me

to kind of sometimes have to step back.

I don't like going to people and telling them my problems

because then they know my problems and they're gonna be stressed.

But for like, short problems or like not that bad problems,

I would probably like just

keep them up for myself and go for a run or

do some exercise or something like that.

And then I'll feel better after.

you know, stern with ye, because I know you're a bunch of lads and you're wild.

Like when I was going down, I felt like it was so cool.

We're kind of, you know, we're bonding and, like,

Yeah, so look, I'm conscious that the lads are trying lots

of different sports and having a great time, but

they still need to be aware they're going to be coming up against

the under 14 All Ireland champions, so.

We kind of need to put a bit more of a focus on the rounders

and getting stuff ready and getting our butts in gear, basically.

and we just get back together and we don't mind about anything else.
