Previously on The Great Eight, the top
eight drivers raced in Las Vegas, Nevada

for $10 ,000 and points toward the
individual championship.

My first one, I'm already intimidated by
everybody, you know.

In his first ever Great Eight
appearance, Murder Nova put the entire

notice as he took out points leader, Kai
Keller.

Then he went on to win a close race
against Kayla Morton.

Going to the final.

I mean, we'll go try to get this win.

Nate Thaler had some good luck on his
side as Damon Merchant's engine cut out

and gave him the win in round one.

They're going to get the win.

Then he took out Axeman in round two to
meet Murder Nova in the finals.

Yeah, baby.

I'll get that money, baby.

Murder Nova gets the win.

Sean won his first grade eight event of
the season and collected points towards

that individual championship.

To never be in a grade 8, come out the
first time I was in grade 8 and win it

and beat all those people that are in
the grade 8, there's no feeling like it.

Now today we're in Ohio where the top 8
drivers will battle it out once again.

Ohio, how you doing?

We are here at Dragway 42, located in
West Salem, Ohio.

This is our first time here. It is a
very beautiful facility. This track

its doors in 1957, and it is just an
hour south of Cleveland.

We're a lot closer to sea level, which
is a huge change after spending a few

weeks in the mountains and even in
Vegas.

It's also cooler than the temperatures
we've been dealing with.

Lower elevation and cooler temp means
the engine can breathe easier and

more horsepower.

Every driver will have to make big
adjustments to what they've been doing.

Right now, Kai Kelly is still sitting
number one in points, but last week he

went out in the very first round, which
means he gained no points whatsoever,

which allowed other drivers to make up
some ground.

Here's how it works. If you win the
grade A, you get 10 points. Plus, you

get $10 ,000.

If you runner up, you get seven. And if
you make it to the semifinals, you will

get three.

Those points go towards an individual
championship that will be worth $100

at the end of the season.

Here we go. Grade 8 driver's meeting
starts now.

I would like to say, Kai Kelly really
picked it up last weekend. Went out

round. So, yeah.

Murder Nova was our winner.

So you can do it again this weekend and

kind of a little bit of a surprise.

quite sure how Rogue stacks up against

go out there, race our race, do
everything we can to get down the track

I drew Murder Nova again, the one that
took me out last week, and hopefully we

can break that cycle. All right, number

Axeman and Robin Roberts.

I drew Robin Roberts.

Can't say that was my favorite pick. He
just put me out at the last race in the

Invitational, so going into this, I kind
of don't.

I know he's fast.

We're going to tune this hot rod up,
roll up there, and give it hell.

Which means our fourth and final pair is
Kayla Morton and Nate Taylor.

I've never even raced Nate, so honestly
I'm kind of excited to see where we

stack up against each other because
we're so close in points. So it should

pretty even matchup as long as both cars
make the trip.

lot more power, so we know the track's
good, the air's good, so I think we

detune it enough to make a good run.

round race. It's going to be a good one.

and I'm like, all right, fine. I go in

finally, and light turns green.

I leave, and it's fun to find out he
went red, so I end up getting the win on

that one.

It is what it is. It's racing.

I mean, it makes you feel, like,
complete.

You're riding this high coming off of a
race that you dominate, and you come

here and you run really good.

But, man, I wanted to get two more
rounds in and take home that $10 ,000.

That's how I've been doing this, like
getting into money, winning money, and

funding it through that, which nobody
thought we would be able to do coming

into this deal.

It's our first year.

Nobody gave us a chance, and we proved
them wrong, and we know we're killing

I mean, we know we've got a hot rod
right now, and the team's been on point.

It's hard riding this high from Vegas to
here, and then something like this

I know I've got a lead. It is definitely
not a comfortable lead because I know

the screw blowers make a lot of big end
power, and chances are that car's going

to outmile and out me. But I just kept
on waiting for him to come around me,

he never did.

Sometimes that happens.

We're so close that I know he's not
going to beat me every time. So next

race, we're going to swing for it, try
to give him all we got. So last time,

whenever you said, man, we were stuck.

That housing may not be bent. Usually
gears will last a while.

That's the other thing about a heavy

Every weekend, we knock a rear end out.

So we're here in Dragway 42 in Ohio.

We're going into the grade eight.

We changed everything on this hot rod
from pistons, rods, gears, stator,

converter. I mean, everything's changed.

The rear end's making like a, when we go
back down pit road, you hear a knocking

noise. So we switch the gear. Usually
when that happens, the housing's bent.

So in Colorado, we had added compression
to the engine and changed the stator.

So we just ran the same stuff in Vegas.

Coming here, the air's a lot better, so
we're going back to our old setup.

And for some reason, the car keeps
knocking the rear gear out every race.

The axle should just slide right out, so
that's usually a sign something's

binding up.

Damn it.

Damn it, damn it, damn it. It's like it
starts whining and knocking, so each

race we have to put a new one in.

So we're going in hopefully fresh.

So we got it to come out, so we're good.

The last couple grade 8s have been going
out.

Like second round, I'm hoping this time
I can pull off a win.

I want to move up in the grade eight,
not stay still. I like moving up.

Robin put me out in Vegas.

Then I draw him first round this race.

That's not a good feeling.

Hopefully I can get a little redemption.

Here we are, Dragway 42, event 10. For
us, this is the business end of the

season. Like, this is our chance to
shine and rise up. We've been chipping

at the points. Now we've got to take it
home.

The car is hauling ass.

It's super smooth. It's running the way
it should.

We need to get just a little more power
out of the backside, and we talked about

some things to do that. So I'm happy
with our combo. I'm happy with where we

are. Now's a good time to just go show
them.

All right, this third pair here in the
great eight.

Another good one. Over in the left lane,
that's going to be Robin Roberts.

Going up against Axeman, Larry Roach.

Makes a great pass there. We'll get the
win.

Roll up in their lights, and they just
went straight as an arrow.

I never saw him, so I don't know if he
had problems. I don't know what

but now we finally got some great eight
points on the board.

Now we're trying to get more. We're
trying to get 10 tonight.

After everything I felt like I had
working against me, I got real

thought, all right, we got this. We got
this. All we got to do is kill a tree

and stand in the red track and get this
win.

I let out a button that pinned me to the
seat. I said, man, it feels good. And

all of a sudden, I felt this wobble of
the tires.

I went to pedal, and there Robin goes.

The show was over.

I've not had to abandon one pass, and
I've not had to abandon two in a row.

Yeah, it honestly was pretty good. I
mean, I would have been happy with that

run. We came here and tested. We put a
tune -up in the car, and we went

down.

And Nate Taylor turns on the wind light.

Car made just a little bit of a move
there at the 330.

Stayed with it. The only hiccup we had
is on the gear change from 2 -3. It got

little squirrely, tried to take me out
of the groove, but I steered her back

quick, and she went right through the
traps.

No, track temp was 94.

But I'll do it.

First round, grade 8 here in Ohio. We
got Kayla Morton. We're pretty excited

about it. We got a good race car.

I know they do, too. They run the same
setup we do. So we're going to bring our

eight semifinals drivers meeting. We

We are now down to four.

So for my four drivers here, you're at
least guaranteed three points in the

individual championship for the great
eight.

Murder Nova ended up taking him out in
the first round again.

I don't think I'm anybody's kryptonite.
I don't know. We took a shot at it, and

So that means with Kai Kelly, the points

now, this is a chance for everybody else
to make up some ground.

He struggled a little bit at first.

Now he's really come up. He's doing
incredibly well.

It's going to be a hell of a run.

I have a lot of respect for him. I love
Sean, but we're going to try and do our

best to beat him. We're going to go on
to the next round. It's our turn to take

one and come up in points.

I mean, just to be real, if we can get
past Sean, this might be our night.

After my burnout, backing up, I hear the
car.

It's like, it's just off, knocking it a
little bit. And my dad's like, it's a

just right at the finish line. So as I'm
getting ready to stage, to light, turn,

I'm like, not a good situation.

She was kind of close coming in.

I think she got a little loose on that
run, but I didn't know if I won or not,

My guys had to tell me on top, and I'm
like, holy, okay, let's go. I heard it.

killer run. We looked on the race pack.

it, you know, backfiring and a freaking

quite sure why it did what it did. It

We decided to leave the hood scoop off
in case it decides to happen again in

finals. The car is running good, so we
feel good about it. Hopefully we fix the

issue, and we're going to go up there
for the finals and hopefully kick some

stumbled upon something, you know, some
sort of a magic tune that's going down,

and it's going down fast, you know, and
the track is taking it. Two in a row,

I went in really fast.

She lit the top bulbs. I went in with
the other two. She was purging her car.

It was a really quick light.

I was ready for it.

I'm not real sure she was. So I let go
of the button. I knew I left out before

her. Car 60 -footed like we told it to,
and we made a hell of a pass. I could

see her for a little bit, and then all
of a sudden she fell back, and we took

the wind light.

I got blinded by the light.

All right. I know.

I don't know what's causing it, but
praise God.

At the end of the night, Sean was able
to win yet another grade eight event.

That is two in a row.

Plus, he took out Kai Kelly in round
one, which made it so where he could not

extend his lead.

That landed him fourth on the
leaderboard, and there's plenty of races

him to catch up.

Kai's been struggling a little bit on
Fridays.

He's going to struggle. We need to
capitalize on it. We actually broke the

transmission, so we have an hour to put
a new transmission in the car. I think

we can change the tranny in an hour.

I just got to worry about Murder Nova on
his little killing spree he's doing

because he keeps winning every weekend.
He's going to catch me.

At this point, we have to get coins to
every grade 8 if we're going to catch
