on the last episode nine pairs of

artists from shops all across America

arrived ready to battle it out the last

stop standing will win $200,000 and the

first ever title of Master shop this is

no longer a solo sport see war was

immediately put to the test with a

series of intense flash challenges we

expect to see more than what we're used

to two heads should work better than one

what is happening are they trying to

kill us

it's day one in the Elimination tattoo

show me you can draw teams had one last

chance for survival

lunch time buddy me and Dave have never

tagged him on a tattoo I want you to go

pass well we're drunk dave has his cell

and I have myself in the Elimination the

Mart Society tri-cities tattoo and

thicker than blood were the bottom three

shots the marked society this is the

farthest from a realistic alligator ever

tri-cities tattoo less is not more this

is a silhouette with some stuff in it

thicker than blood it's completely

anatomically impossible you're not

showing us that you can draw from life

thicker than blood the judges have

decided you do not have what it takes to

be master shot please pack your machines

and move out

eight jocks remain but only one will

earn a $200,000 prize and the title of

Master sha

you guys are awesome catchers and you

guys are awesome Tatsu Aries I think

everybody sitting in the rooms the

strongest competitor I felt like that

maybe we should pull forces for a while

yeah maybe if we help each other and

make it to the finale yeah and then it's

like friggin there's three of us there's

three of the finale then it becomes a

real competition exactly so we take care

of ourselves let the weak weed

themselves out and then we attack if

someone comes at one of us and you ask

yeah if one of us tries we all start

that's a big board why is there nine

boards and only eight teams feel twists

coming

welcome artists you're here to prove

that your shop is the best make it to

the end and you'll earn the biggest

prize in ink master history two hundred

thousand dollars a feature in Inked

Magazine and the title of ink master and

your shop will also earn the first-ever

title of master shop you survived the

first week but your odds of winning

aren't getting any better at least not

yet

every time a shop is eliminated another

shop will enter the competition ready to

fight for the title of master shop we

just send someone home and now someone

else comes in of course it's like the

Hydra every time you cut a head off

another one springs up but that's not

all the shops entering the competition

will have at least one returning artist

who's competed for the title and failed

these people coming back again have

already been here they already know the

pressure and that's really intimidating

the first returning veteran is from

Scottsdale Arizona and competed in

season four he's the owner of Old Town

Inc Bubba

Irwin who's that ahead never hurt him I

definitely came underprepared the first

time I was here you like doing this

stuff yeah it's cool man I've never done

one before there's no solid color

there's no straight outline Bubba you

look pissed I feel like I did a pretty

good job I just can't figure out what

they want

you have many problems with your outline

you give somebody enough rope they hang

themselves you do not have what it takes

to be inkmaster

getting kicked off here you could feel

sorry for yourself or you can go home

and do the homework and that's exactly

what I did welcome back Baba thank you

who'd you bring with you

I brought a good buddy of mine DJ Tim B

he's the most versatile was the best

artist I know but was asked me to take

him under his wing and I've taught him a

lot of things since I'm not the artist

that sticks to one style every day is

something different for me everything we

touch we're gonna crush ya crush every

single thing DJ and I have known each

other for several years DJ is an

incredible artist and he's fast and he's

efficient we're done

the two of you should be warned this

week is designed to put your shop to the

ultimate test each week everyone will be

tested on the skill that exposes the

veteran artists shortcomings from the

last time they competed to him yes

there's the silver lining to the

veterans coming back we know what you

got eliminated on I know what you suck

at I knew this was gonna happen

that's all I practice on was my

shortcomings I'm ready for anything this

week we're testing your fundamentals

fundamentals of tattooing start with the

drawing then it goes to your stencil

then it goes to your application line

work making sure your shading smooth I

didn't have that last time I do have it

if you get eliminated for poor

fundamentals maybe you should not do any

more I don't know a true artist can make

something extraordinary out of anything

for this flash challenge you must create

an image on a 10 foot by 10 foot canvas

using only

post-it notes meaning at each station

are nearly 50,000 post-it notes

you must layer them using each

individual colored square as a basic

building block to bring one massive

image to life make something original

something beautiful and it stands out

from the crowd

remember you win as a shop and you lose

as a shop so you must work with your

teammate until you have five hours and

your time starts now

yeah we're challenging these artists on

post-it notes is a test to see who wants

to really achieve something who wants to

succeed and who could stay focused don't

think five hours is enough

we'll see how creative they are laser

gun classic red yellow thunderbolt

sometimes veterans change the

competitions sometimes the house puts

their teeth on and gangs up against them

and it becomes a rough room rough DJ

he's the problem if I can get these

things open to let Daddy have it so

really think of me towards one side of

this we can utilize this food I know

buddy you know I'm saying okay dude I'm

taking the lead on this one if we layer

the sticky notes we can create for

texture straight lines symmetry all the

fundamentals are falling into place dude

I can't believe BJ's here just don't let

worst critic my goal is to keep Aaron

afloat enough that we can both get a

veterans that come and bring Potter's

with the caliber of DJ with them we're

screwed

a basic shape of a tree and have like

never drawn one but you want to do one

without any references yo you need to

trust me on this one like I got it Sam

you gotta make smart decisions well what

something it's tough coming in there's a

giant target on my forehead that types

I know a bunch of the people before this

and they know my capabilities so that

just made the target even bigger okay

artists time for the judges to critique

your work first up old town Inc right

into the fire huh who's good I'm ready

this time you know to find balance and

to be able to really center it up and

make it fit your canvas well shows a

great use of fundamentals you have the

layers of hair that go down and from the

distance it doesn't really look like

it's made of a bunch of tiny squares you

pulled it off it's a killer job artistic

skin designs the bold black outline on

here correlates the tattooing perfectly

the hot and cold color palette works

great overall I think you guys do show

strong fundamentals in your piece thank

you thanks black anchor has a very

remedial feel a complete whited out sky

with a little bit of blue clouds it's

weird and the border gives me a very

crocheted grandmother feel black anchors

feels a little childish for the tattoos

that they make I thought they would have

came with something ridiculous

pins and needles I like the radiating

Sun that juxtaposes off with a really

blue sky and the stark white clouds but

it's very simple and from far far away

it gets even more simple allegory arts

it really has that slimy feel to the

bottom you get a lot of really strong

bold outlines with this black post-it

you've stuck your fundamentals and made

it legible classic trilogy tattoo you

sense a nerdy theme here I got it

I like the blast that you guys have

coming out the layers of yellow and

green is legibility I think you did fine

oh thanks tri-cities tattoo other than

the ATL at the top I'm not sure what

really makes this Atlanta but very

simple very bold very legible Oh

unkindness art I actually think that you

really did a dynamic flowing piece of

art it shows strong fundamentals just

cuz it's got great composition it has a

dynamic flow to it those tiny squares

inside the wave creates a nice whitewash

it's one of the strongest of the day

hell of a day today and his

mother-in-law was buried today I'm

definitely sorry to hear that

well I will say this man your use of the

post-its in the candle itself to create

a three-dimensional appeal looks really

cool when you go through something like

this it's tough to be here if you need a

if you have a weak link you fail won't

look right why I had no idea to do this

tattoo some tricks in store guess what

you cheated you're going to the bottom

alright guys today we're testing

fundamentals how these guys do overall

think great artists can make great art

on anything and they're showing that one

of the teams that got that done is

unkindness art they have a nice design

it was clearly legible it had a lot of

motion to it they let the negative space

breathe through the color and nobody

else did that let's talk about artistic

skin designs who did the torch

I thought the outline showed really

strong fundamentals where they excelled

for me instead of just plastering yellow

they very meticulously placed the yellow

in a pattern yeah I thought it was one

of the more dynamic pieces of the day

old town in came out swinging Robert

Irwin back in the game

what I really like about their piece is

that it made sense not only as a design

but also as a creation with post-it

notes their fundamentals in this are

very well done time to give out a win

alright guys today some of you really

excel showing your fundamentals judges

have decided the winner of today's Flash

challenge is

Old Town Inc we got a really strong

outline strong use of color the subject

matter that you chose really played well

to the fundamental congratulations Bubba

and DJ you'll have the power to assign

all human canvases in the next

elimination tattoo when I was on season

four I feel like I brought up BB gun to

World War three and this time I feel

like I brought an a-bomb to World War

one I love winning the first flash

challenge and having control of this

game and I'm back to the loft well the

new veterans but they have control of

the tattoo now they can just shoot at

every single person in the room that's

gonna suck

I'm just excited to get out there man

like I know if we went both challenges

right off the bat like these guys are

gonna be soaps we gotta take out the

people that you know are like hard

haters there's gonna be tons it's girls

might as well give them to people who

yet consider themselves the best aren't

confident and yeah I'm all for I just

want to show everybody that I came to

play you know I mean I know DJ Bubba are

coming here dig dig swingin they can't

to what we said if you have a weak link

on your work one shop will lose their

prove that you deserve to be back in

this competition by proving that you

have overcome your weaknesses

Bubba's honor you'll all be judged on

the fundamentals there's no better way

to show your fundamentals than by

tattooing a style that leaves you no

room for errors illustrative black work

yeah bring it on

using only lines of different lengths

and widths you must create texture depth

and contrast in your image since there's

no color or shading the smallest flaw

and your fundamentals will be obvious

line work cake I'm ready to prove myself

you're looking for line wait you can't

just sit there and just because you can

only use a line or needle doesn't mean

you can still color in an area any areas

of solid black is out of this challenge

you have to be really good at lining

with a tattoo machine you can't use any

kind of shading every and profession is

going to stand out and for this tattoo

you will once again be tag-teaming your

shop will create one tattoo on the same

canvas only one of you can tattoo at a

time and you must switch artists every

hour

and there's one other thing that you

should know we aren't the only ones

who'll be judging you today after every

elimination tattoo all of you will form

the jury of peers

you'll deliberate and choose one shop to

put up for elimination

there is a good side to this if

somebody's being a real dick to be a

quick way to get them out let's meet

your canvases

Old Town eight your shop won the flash

challenge you have the power to assign

the canvases if you want to get ahead in

this competition strategy is fundamental

go ahead and assign the canvases

octopus underwater scene we want to send

a message we're definitely a force to be

reckoned with I am looking to get a

tiger caught by his toe on my leg

eenie meenie miney moe catch a tiger by

its toe I want a black work demonic go

ahead with a crescent moon roses and a

raven on my ribs the ribs is probably

one of the hardest areas to tattoo you

you're constantly breathing you're

constantly moving and in order to run a

straight line that person has to be

still as possible I want a black work

hand and dagger with an amethyst on my

calf I want a black work anatomical

heart sprouting a tree on the one side

of the tree the leaves will be a little

bit more full and on the other side

they'll be like falling off with birds

coming out of it on my outer thigh

another say that any budging on that no

no I promise swear to God perfect so

where the guy okay my strategy is just a

gun for the people that we know the pink

this black anchor both these guys are

well known around the world they have a

well known shop so we're coming out

swinging

Town Inc is definitely painting a giant

target on their back pins and needle ala

dory arts alright guys you will have six

hours to show that you've mastered the

fundamentals based on your work one shop

these artists are gonna be faced with a

design challenge the challenge is more

of like an etching style overall your

line work has to be really clean and

perfect one bad line sticks out like a

sore thumb oh yeah like a string

suspending him by like one like it back

to him I have no idea how to do this

tattoo how much space is gonna work um

oh we don't here right that'd be huge

man well if we're not gonna go big then

we really can't wrap it you know I mean

it's not gonna wrap at this mall after

the bad flash challenge that we had and

the stuff that we've been going through

the team her and it picking and

demanding this and demanding knack is

making it a lot tougher for us it's

smaller it won't look right

anatomical parka with a tree growing out

of it on the one side of the tree the

leaves will be a little bit more full

and the other side they'll kind of be

like falling off almost kind of like a

death kind of feel are you willing to

like work with those maybe not put some

certain things in as long as you can

work with me she's not budging

she has her mind set on how she wants to

attach you to look do you guys have some

portfolios I could see this is gonna

suck

I can't this is a team I don't want to

draw this and then you come in and say

hey I don't like this change this well

then that's why I want to get your input

now we have to be consistent these are

from the reference that's why I didn't

really want to use reference okay well I

think is best

you finish your zone and then I'll just

finish my own and we can just do it that

way Bing is designing her tattoo like

it's the tattoo that we're gonna do it's

not happening if my design is stronger

you need to go with mine she got this

okay well it has like a realistic feel

this is okay so we're not doing this one

bit

okay artists you have six hours to

tattoo if your fundamentals aren't right

your shop will be packing and your time

this week's elimination tattoo we're

testing illustrative line work you want

to jump on a person me you have to be

able to create depth and dimension

without coloring anything in because

there is no shading just line work only

let's delete that one for now and maybe

like move it over yeah that looks great

in these tag-team tattoos you really

start to get a feeling of which teams

work together well and which teams are

struggling all right look

how you doing so far peachy peachy the

ribs are a very very sensitive area

kitten is giving you a little tickle

find your happy places not in this

competition to us out yeah and he can

sit through it we can sit through it

looks great we got we're going through

this area the Eyrie she wants a

full-body Tiger caught by the toe with

the back foot stretched out crawling

down her leg and that's what we're

giving her until black I just didn't

know exactly everyone achieved it I

think our friendship has a lot to do

with how well we can perform her break

the line or like the black you know he

can read me and I can read him you know

when he's upset I can tell Mike is my

best friend this tune I've been through

a lot of yeah Mikey you have four hours

consistent yeah

if we could just show crisp clean

dimension and shapes and hopefully we

won't be in the bottom just basically

double up that top dome right and I'm

gonna go over a lot of these just don't

change me I'm not used to anybody

telling me don't do this or don't do

that nice beautiful it's kind of hard to

step back and let someone else take the

reins but I'm doing it because I'm doing

whatever it takes to win this thing this

is your final hour one more hour

Cole tziolis is looking perfect it's

gonna get a lot cooler some tricks in

store I see DJ's using a mag I'm shocked

straight off the bat

TJ's using or magnum Lizzy just pushing

a like a liner but it's still not the

same as lightening a lining needle is a

group of needles that are tightly put

together like this a mag our needles

that I put in between each other and

make this shape so he's using a mag to

essentially emulate like five single

line needles yeah that's kind of weak

dude being allowed to use a mag and this

challenge with mean that you could do

multiple tiny lines that are perfectly

spaced with much less work than pulling

individual lines this is not cool

pulling lines with a magnum these

artists might be a little jealous they

didn't think of this trick first yeah

dude hell yeah

what's better in the mirror holy crap so

dope dude it looks shaded that was the

whole point

old Tom guess what you cheat it you used

a mat you're going to the bottom nobody

didn't think about it we did we followed

the rules though that stuff all exposes

you guys heavily

the chat - you guys just did I walked by

it it was solid but that whole mag trip

we did not break any rules there's not

one part of that thing that's shaded all

those mag lines are one pass because

we've been in the rules he said black

lines he did not say we didn't use use

the liner he didn't say no mags I might

have pulled out a trick that might be

around a rule it's just somebody thought

of it and you guys did it I think you

should assume that we're focused on

every single move you make to find a

reason to kick you - I totally get that

and I'm doing that with you guys too

today you had to prove your fundamentals

Bubba this challenge was designed to

test your weaknesses Old Town Inc you're

up first

mama hasn't been back I feel like I've

been preparing to come back here since I

left ready for it this is very clean

very legible very strong illustration

technically the lines look clean the

varying line weights are used smartly

and from a distance you do create

shading with using only small lives

the reactions over there what's going on

they use the mag I mean I wouldn't used

to Mack - if you guys just didn't think

about it you guys are mad because you

didn't think about it oh we did we

followed the rules though we followed

the rules - dragging the mag I mean it

is a way to make lines I think it's

smart if you look close to this please

do it is lines every single spot

yeah but the same effect that they did

with the mag I went through and I did it

with a single needle a lot of us did

this is a game and if you're smarter

than your opponent oh well I will tell

you this I'm pretty sure that these guys

aren't going home

unkindness are one of the main areas

where you can show some fundamentals and

some really nice details would be in the

jewels and I think that opportunity you

guys miss it's just not very clean

compositionally looks unfinished it

leaves you wanting to know where the

rest of this elephant is in just a

one-foot it's a little bit strange

allegory arts

this tattoo is very uniform throughout

it looks like an old illustration out of

a classic book that's what we were going

for it you have different line weights

and very decisive directions those lines

really show the contour in a shape your

craftsmanship your line work is very

clean black anchor it's very simple

you didn't really create this

topographical map to show me the depths

of this heart with all these lines in

here it still looks flat the whole

tattoo looks very tense there's not a

lot of breaks not a lot of variants you

played the best time and record with the

cards that we were dealt it's line work

versus line work so whoever doesn't have

the cleanest line work is going home

pins and needles there is but debate

about how thick and colored in these big

lines up that is not a one pass line no

it's not a one pass it's see the circles

you have around the main jewel in the

center look at all the problems you guys

had in there even the thin lines that

you have coming off of that you hit a

lot of speed bumps your guys line work

is pretty rough throughout this tattoo

classic trilogy tattoo it's simple it's

very legible but the boldness of the

geometry behind it gets a little bit

confusing you could have done something

to make that stand out from the back so

that it doesn't get so blended in one of

the areas that I think you teeter-totter

is sculpting a lot of the lines one pass

is what we're looking for because the

one pass is what proves that you can

sink a line and not go back to it

tri-cities tattoo design-wise it does

have nice flow to it but it just didn't

follow through there's a lot of line

work difficulties in this answer these

arc lines that go down the tentacles

very inconsistent and also some of the

coral looks very similar to the

tentacles of the octopus today is about

pulling one line I just don't feel like

your guys quality is living up to the

rest of the artistic skin designs I love

this tattoo especially in these eyes the

fact that you got them so dark and wet

with the line work I love the effects

that you pulled off the lines and horns

really create the contour in the shape

and design of what we're looking at

overall it came out so strong thank you

the marked society this tiger is crazy

if you take the head out of the equation

this thing looks like a lizard with some

broken body parts where is the Tigers

right shoulder how does that come off

his spine right there Anatomy is proven

to be a big issue you've got some clean

lines but you didn't really capture the

look of this challenge you you just

crosshatch haphazardly there's one tooth

missing oh you cross ash over it Devils

in the details that stuff all exposes

you guys heavily time to determine who

had the best tattoo of the day

my top three is allegory artistic an old

town for me it's artistic skin design

it's the most dynamic it's the one I

think hands down to landslide on that

one the judges have decided the best

tattoo of the day second week in a row

goes to artistic skin design

congratulations

paint that target on their back as the

jury of peers you must deliberate and

put one shop up for elimination and back

to the law

they reamed us down there man you guys

are like giving up I'm just Barret it's

not giving up conceived right we can see

our flaws in certain I'm certain that we

should be down there we know we have

some shaky eyes lines but we're gonna

defend what we're doing don't defend

shit yet y'all have some shaky outlines

y'all had lines out waiting to be in

there because you were rushing are you

scared to our language burgers I'm not

scared of nobody

like they're terrible and you as well or

not they're cleaning that one clan that

would you like to wear drawn wrong tiger

or drawn wrong Huckabee's doctor that's

a rough tattoo it's not perfect but

there are no it's way way past not

perfect Lavar as you can tell there's

some type of I mentioned with Mike's you

don't have a forward in a middle I do

agree that the application of both have

equal amount of errors in them they also

came down heavy on your girls day I feel

like we definitely deserve what we got

up there I still think that we should

vote you guys for using a man this is

completely fundamentally sound

to the bottom out of principle that's

why I wouldn't have agreed to break the

rule you probably thought it was that

advantage so you kept quiet about it so

we're going off technicalities right now

let's get into tri-cities tattoo you did

come a little bit strong with the design

but it's pretty clear this is a bottom

tattoo the purpose of this challenge was

to create a tattoo showing depth through

line work we created them we have a

foreground a middle ground and a

background but you have a lot of sloppy

line work here lines you're crossing

over lines there mismatching but there

are examples of some solid line work oh

boy a clean line since you've been here

the marks society the bulk of your

disability in this tattoo is the design

it's been a hell of a week you know

dealing with the personal problems and

just trying to get in a groove the

biggest thing that would make it hard

for me to see you guys being master shop

is the fact that this tiger is so far

off it's odd it's a tough decision

because both of your teams are parallel

on problems but we created death they

have a flat image at least with our

talking I feel like with odds you can

always tell what it is

our drama was flawless we didn't stumble

on Anatomy listen the end of the day

we're looking at the finished tattoo

it's a stumble alright it is time to

determine who's going home this actually

is a tough call I mean I know the tiger

is jacked I know the octopus looks more

like octopus and from arc society they

do have some cleaner lines I don't know

you do not have what it takes to be

master shop

your outline and your drawing are the

framework for everything that goes in

them so if you can't get those things

together in this competition then I

think rightfully you guys are in the

right place please pack your machines

and move out
