You know, magicians are always accused of using mirrors.

You've heard that, right?

Magicians use mirrors, smoke and mirrors, smoke and mirrors.

That is (sighs), that is absolutely true.

(audience laughs)

We use mirrors every single show

and I have one right here.

And, hi, would you please join me on stage over here?

Give, give her a big round of applause right now.

And what's your name? - Dorian.

- Hi, Dorian, nice to meet you.

- Hello, nice to meet you too.

- Dorian, I have a mirror here.

It is a very nice fancy mirror.

I bought it at Hardware Restoration.

(audience laughs)

- Got it. (laughs) - Got it.

So, it cost $5000. (audience laughs)

All right, so here it is, here's a needle.

I want you to tap that needle against that mirror,

that glass, make sure it is solid, it's good?

- It's good. - It's good.

Now, this mirror goes inside of the bag

because you know the saying, "You break it..."

- "You buy it." - "You but it," that's right.

Okay, and I want you to grab on to this, hold on to it,

and I want you to feel, you could feel the glass

in the mirror against the needle, yes?

- Yes. - Okay, now watch.

Watch closely, but not just watch, also listen.

Listen, okay? - Okay.

- Your choice, right, middle, left.

- Left. - Lef-

Okay, left. (Dorian laughs)

All right. (tapping against glass)

Hear it, listen. (continues tapping)

Watch. - Okay.

(audience gasps)

- Oh, whoa! - Okay, okay.

It goes straight through the glass.

Now, Dorian, it doesn't have to be right on the left.

It could be right here in the middle.

It could be on the right, it could be anywhere.

And hold on to this 'cause you'll be doing

this in a moment.

But the coolest part isn't that the needle

passes through the mirror, it's that I can actually bend

the mirror right in half. (audience gasps)

But it's still solid, Dorian.

It's still solid here and here.

Only flexible right in the center.

Now, hold on to that, hold it up high

because you're gonna do this, okay?

- Okay. - Think,

think more like a wizard and less...

You know what I'm saying?

It's just... (audience laughs)

Yeah, hold on to that very... (both laughing)

All right, hold on to the edge of that needle like this.

Hold on to it and then you could feel

the needle against the glass.

On the count of three, you're gonna push.

- Okay. - Gently, don't jam it through

if it's gonna go into me, okay?

That's a different trick. - Okay.

(audience laughs) I won't do it this time.

- All right, this time? (Dorian laughs)

Oh my gosh, okay, here it goes.

All right, you ready, on the count of three, push gently.

- Okay. - Watch her face.

One, feel the glass? - Mm-hmm.

and I want you to take the needle, tap the glass.

anything tricky or suspicious.

that's been sitting on stage since I walked out here and...

'Cause I need you to be a committee of one

to verify two things.

One, that I'm not gonna switch that ring out for another.

And the second, and Sandy will be happy about this,

that I'm not gonna damage that beautiful piece of jewelry

as I remove it from that clasp.

Christine, I want you to take a really good

look at that ring and I'd like to ask you one question.

And I'd like you to answer that question honestly

with a simple yes or a no.

My name is Naathan Phan and I'm here with my new friend...

I heard a little tiny (F sound) at the beginning of it

and I was, I don't know, that could be a Norwegian thing.

I don't know, Frachel, okay. (audience laughs)

(in a Norwegian accent) Hello, Frachel, nice to meet you.

(regular accent) Here's what we're gonna do.

In here, one of the things that I did when I was a kid is,

before I really got into magic,

I was the kid who was good for a laugh.

I could sound like anybody in the class

if we had, you know, like an exchange student

from Yorkshire or something like that,

I could do their voice.

We have like a teacher out from Bristol

or something like that and I could sound like them.

So, I could kind of sound like anybody.

So, I started developing all of these impressions that I do

and I wrote down some of them onto these.

So, what I want you to do is I want you to reach in there

and just grab a few of them.

And we're just gonna test them out,

so I just want you to grab one or two

or three or four, however many.

And I just want you to read them out loud

and I'm just gonna do those impressions for you.

I just had to warm up my voice, all right, go ahead.

- Stewie. - Stewie.

(imitating Stewie Griffin) Um, so, um,

how's that novel of yours coming along?

Got a nice good stack of papers (voice pitch increasing),

I look forward to reading, yeah thanks.

I want you to hear it inside your head.

I want you to think about whether this is a,

you know, if they have like an English accent

or if they've got like a Scottish accent.

(in an Irish accent) Or if they've got like an

Irish accent.

(in a French accent) Maybe they sound like

they are from France.

(in an Eastern European accent) Maybe they sound like

more, uh, Eastern European.

(in an Australian accent) Crikey, they'e Australian.

(in an American accent) Or maybe they're more like

an American, so think about it. Don't make it too easy on me.

I want you to think about this.

So, maybe it's more of like an American voice.

I want you to hear this inside your head.

I want you to (in a higher pitch) hear if it's a

high-pitch voice, (in a lower pitch) or like a

low pitch voice.

(in a nasally voice) I want you to hear if it's nasal,

(in a grumbly voice) or if it's a little bit more grumbly.

It's a little bit more grumbly, okay.

So, there's a little bit more of a grumbly voice

I want you to hear this, I want you to,

is there, oh, there's a song, there's a song.

I can't sing it 'cause we're on TV, so instead,

So, I went ahead and I'm gonna do a trick

using these index slips.
