On their way to participate in Operation Odessa,

the White Base was critically damaged and forced to perform an emergency crash landing.

While the Zeon attack force has withdrawn for the time being,

the crew has no way of knowing when the next assault will come.

Operation Rescue Matilda!

Operation Rescue Matilda

It should be the one on the right.

It's not working.

I wonder if we can use the wire for the number two engine.

I think that one's on a different scale.

Hurry up!

I'm running out of paper!

They're gonna call you a coward again, Kai.

Um, let me check the pressure on this thing.

How's it coming?

Will we be able to get by using makeshift parts?

No good.

I've tried everything, but nothing's working.

I see.

I just hope the enemy doesn't come to attack us again.

Do you think the supplies are coming?

Yes.

We have to trust in General Revil.

Ms. Mirai, report to Mr. Bright.

What is it, Bright?

I want you to be the acting commander.

You'll have to take over for me.

A ship without a commander does seem ludicrous, but I'm just not up for it.

Nobody is, including myself.

I'm ashamed to even think that my fear is what's made me sick.

No...

I've written the basics of being a commander on these sheets.

Study it.

But that's not enough.

I know you can do it.

Bright!

Will you just do it for me?

I'll get better very soon.

All right, I'll give it a try.

Meanwhile, General Revil of the Earth Federation Forces

received the White Base's supply request upon arriving at the European frontline base.

He has come in order to initiate Operation Odessa

before Admiral Kycilia begins dispatching heavy reinforcements to M'quve's base.

Little time remains before the operation begins.

If we attack M'quve from the rear,

even with just one ship, he'll be thrown off.

But they're already critically damaged from M'quve's attack on them.

Could it be that you have doubts about this operation, General Elran?

Lieutenant Matilda,

this plan depends on your squadron's ability to repair the White Base's engines.

Yes, General Revil.

We'll do it, no matter how bad the damage.

There is another item I would like you to deliver to the White Base.

I'm sure they'll complain about us using them as guinea pigs again.

I want them to do the testing for the Gundam's upgrade modules.

For the Gundam?

This booklet will explain everything.

Yes, sir.

General Revil.

Why do you continue to give support to a ship which operates autonomously?

We simply can't afford to use the regular military for experiments.

This is not only my decision but that of the HQ staff.

Thank you for informing me.

However, can't you tell me anything about the Gundam's upgrade?

Unfortunately, no.

They dispatched it to the White Base before General Elran could see it.

I see.

Tell Elran to restrain his forces during Operation Odessa.

Yes, sir.

The Federation Forces are growing impatient.

In this battle, the first one to make a move will lose.

Clink, hit the Medea squadron with three Goufs and three Dodai YS units.

Yes, sir!

Take some support fighters with you as well.

Yes, sir!

Mirai.

What is it?

A coded message from General Revil just came in.

I've already decoded it through the computer.

I'm playing it back now.

Go ahead.

This is Revil.

I apologize for taking so long to contact you.

Lieutenant Matilda is en route with your supplies.

You must join in Operation Odessa as soon as repairs are complete.

Y-Yes, sir!

Now, I've also sent you new modules for the Gundam.

If used to its maximum capabilities, I think it will prove advantageous in battle.

I hope that all of your pilots will fight to the best of their abilities.

Is that all?

We don't even know when Operation Odessa begins.

I'm sure Matilda does.

I mean, Lieutenant Matilda will provide us with the details.

I guess so.

I wonder what these new Gundam modules could possibly be.

I hope they'll make things easier on Amuro and our other pilots.

I've located a formation at eleven o'clock.

And we're almost there too.

Is it Zeon?

Yes, ma'am.

Something isn't right.

Nobody could've possibly known about our mission.

All planes, prepare for aerial combat!

Maintain current combat formation!

Let's send General Revil an S.O.S.

Yes, ma'am.

All right! I've got you now!

Those transports are weighed down by their cargo, so they'll make easy targets!

I've just received an S.O.S. from the Medea squadron!

The Medea squadron?

Distance?

One hundred eighty kilometers northwest!

What do I do?

Without those supplies, the White Base can't move.

We need those Medeas to make it here!

Sayla, we'll backup the Medea squadron.

Roger.

Amuro! Kai! Hayato!

Launch immediately!

We have to rescue Matilda's squadron!

Ms. Matilda's in danger?!

Wait, Sayla!

Abort the launch!

What for?

Well, if we send out the Core Fighters,

the White Base will be a sitting duck out here!

If the enemy uses this opening to attack us...

Amuro to the Core Fighter!

Job John and Hayato to the Gunperry!

Load the Gundam modules!

Kai to the Guncannon!

If you're mad, then punish me.

Sayla!

I'm the one who took over for Bright.

Or did you forget?

I'm heading out!

Give it your best shot, Kai!

Remember, Matilda's squadron is bringing us emergency supplies!

Yeah, yeah!

You're so inspiring, Sayla!

Heading out!

Gunperry, launching!

No turning back now. We'll just have to pray the enemy doesn't come near us.

Mirai, won't you sit in the Captain's seat?

I'm comfortable where I am.

Maybe we should put all hands on anti-aircraft watch.

Yes, I agree.

Ms. Matilda, please hang on until I get there!

Lieutenant Matilda, plane five's been hit!

Never mind. Fly lower to the ground.

Yes, ma'am!

I won't let you lay a finger on Ms. Matilda or the supplies!

A Core Fighter!

It sure is fast.

But can it hold its own against the Zeon's Gouf mobile suit?

The Dopps are easy!

Where'd that Gouf go?

Where is it?

Oh, no!

I'll shoot you down right here!

Down! You're going down!

One Gouf down.

Who's next?

If I don't get between the Medea squadron and the enemy, I might hit Ms. Matilda!

Kai, get over here now!

I'm out of ammo!

Mirai.

You can't just wait.

Repairs! Do repairs!

You have to do what you can while there's still time.

This is no time to be reading that.

Everyone is...

You were right, Ryu.

You didn't usually handle things with much tact, but you were a great example to us.

A man's worth is decided by what he has done.

You were strong.

I have to find a way to be strong like you.

Ryu!

Mirai, take command and make your own decisions.

Amuro, do you read me?

Amuro!

I'm entering the docking area!

Can you make it?

Copy that, Hayato!

There's an enemy aircraft at five o'clock!

We don't have any data on it!

You fool!

You have access to all the data on the Trojan Horse!

I got it!

It's the icebox plane!

The icebox plane?

It carries the mobile suit they call Gundam!

Abe, forget about attacking the Medeas!

Go after the icebox plane!

The icebox plane?

What's that? The transport with the mobile suit in it?

That's right.

Have the remaining Dopps shake off that fighter!

Amuro, are you going to convert to Gundam here?

I have no choice!

Against those Goufs, the Core Fighter just doesn't cut it!

All right!

Activating laser searcher!

Roger that!

Damn you!

Firing laser searcher!

Synchronizing now!

A Gouf!

Now! Get the fighter!

This piece of crap is slow!

Hey! Hurry up and convert to Gundam!

Thanks!

Please cover me!

We need to take out that Gouf by the Medea squadron!

You got it!

Activating docking searcher!

Ten!

Nine!

Hayato, you ready?!

Six!

Five!

Releasing Module B!

That's good!

The searcher is in sync!

Releasing Module A!

It can convert into a mobile suit?!

Damn Gouf! You're mine!

Oh, no!

I hope that's not Ms. Matilda's plane over there!

Plane one, this is plane four! We're hit!

Proceed without us!

Plane four is carrying the Gundam's upgrade modules.

Land the squadron immediately.

But we can still shake off the enemy with the two remaining planes!

We can't just abandon the Gundam's upgrade modules.

They landed?!

This is bad!

Damn!

Is that the Gouf from back there?!

Damn you!

Hurry up! Unload the G-Modules!

This plane's about to explode!

Keep up the anti-aircraft fire!

There's still one enemy mobile suit left!

Amuro, what are you doing?!

Ms. Matilda is done for unless you get here now!

It'd be nice if I could shoot him down myself though!

Start charging up the G-Fighter's engine!

We'll have the Gundam use it.

But can he handle it without any training?

Amuro will be able to do it.

Sayla, how should a commander act during a situation like this?

No, never mind.

Ms. Mirai, at a time like this,

we'd feel safer if the commander was calm and undisturbed.

You're right!

Is there any sign of the enemy yet?

No, ma'am.

But it looks like the Medea squadron has landed.

Sayla, inform the mechanics.

Cancel level one battle stations and tell them to resume repairs.

Do you think that's safe?

Yes.

The enemy has their hands full because they don't have enough troops.

We'll be okay.

They won't advance this far.

Damn Gouf!

His power seems like it's increasing!

Can I break free?

Did I get him?

Take this!

He got me!

My engine!

Oh, no!

The leg circuits are shredded!

I have to hurry and get to Ms. Matilda!

Not another one!

Mirai, has Matilda's squadron arrived yet?

You're awake?

It's all right.

They'll be here in about five minutes.

I see.

They managed to breach the Zeon's defenses.

That's to be expected from the Lieutenant.

Sorry, but I'd like to rest some more.

Of course.

This is bad!

I can't even move around!

What do I do?

I'll run out of power at this rate!

What do I do?!

I won't let you defeat me here!

Again!

Amuro!

It's the upgrade module that Ms. Matilda brought!

Ride on it with the Gundam!

All right, let's try it out!

Here we go, Amuro!

It's coming!

You've lost too much power by now!

I'm shooting you down!

Bastard!

Hayato, charge!

Turn, Hayato! Turn fast!

There!

So that's the G-Fighter.

You did well, Amuro.

And Hayato too.

I've just read the report.

Ms. Mirai, as acting commander,

you did a fine job protecting the Medea transport squadron.

Thank you.

Now, I'd like you to contact the Medea squadron to coordinate repairs on the White Base.

Yes, sir.

Thank you very much.

I feel just awful.

Come on, Mirai.

You held your own and did fine.

Besides, you were able to reassure Bright.

Thanks, Sayla.

It means a lot to hear you say that.

With all this stuff, the White Base will be good as new!

Of course it will!

That's the second time you two have saved me, Amuro and Hayato.

And Kai too.

You had to take up the toughest position today.

Hey, it was no sweat.

You're so dependable, Kai.

You're too much!

Well, shall we take a look at all of the Gundam's upgrade modules?

Yes, ma'am!

From now on I'm going to give it my best shot!

Huh?

Hey, wait for me!

Matilda and her comrades fall in battle while protecting the White Base.

Codenamed the Black Tri-Stars,

the heavy Dom mobile suits put on a violent show

of unrelenting force.

Mobile Suit Gundam.

Next time, "Close Combat! Triple Dom."

Next Time

Close Combat! Triple Dom

Can you survive?
