having a relationship with my dad because of Miss Wanda.

She's not my step-mom to me. She didn't raise me.

So that made it challenging

for me to resume our relationship

because I was uncomfortable with it.

I think my dad is definitely on his way back.

I think he is remorseful about things that happened

and he wants his family.

I would suggest to you, Mr. Braxton,

you might need to be even now a little bit sensitive

about how you introduce your new family--

set the tempo as to when and how

and on what terms they can embrace

does your family get swallowed up

ever since my parents divorced.

what happened that tore your marriage apart in the show.

Was that difficult for you to, like, come out front

and just be open about your relationship?

I felt that I let myself down.

I let God down, I let the church down, I let the family down.

I was beating up on myself all that time.

There's other people who were affected with it also.

So I had to get past that.

You know, affected because our mom was affected.

You know? And so we took on a lot of that as well.

It's a little tough

because my dad hurt my mom, and I'm a woman.

And as a woman, I feel the need to protect my mom

at all costs, at all times.

How did you get them back?

one thing that I felt I had to do

was isolate myself, get away from them.

They don't wanna be with you,

and they were always trying to reach out to me.

"Daddy, come on. Come visit me."

And I can't visit, I can't face you.

And, uh, they slowly got me back in and...

I've been visiting them more often now.

It's definitely gonna take some time

to really fully heal.

I think it's just a process

and we're still going through it.

I-I believe that we've all forgiven Daddy

for what has happened.

but I don't know if it ever could happen.

my parents, my mother would say,

Years ago, when this happened,

I couldn't believe it, as though I was living

in a bad nightmare.

I lost my self-esteem.

And I had to rebuild myself

to know that there's nothing wrong with me.

But the girls,

I don't think they really got closure in this.

I think they feel betrayed. I think.

We cannot let you leave

without singing something for us today.

And I was just happy to show him how our family has grown

I would like to say that although we had our reservations

about doing the "TD Jakes Show,"

I'm glad we did it because it ended up wonderful.

for us to go on a family trip.
