In the last four episodes,

We have been following the footsteps of Jesus in his last hours.

so we are in the marketplace in Jerusalem.

Wow.

We have seen the Garden of Gethsemane where He was betrayed and captured.

Wow, this is incredible.

Then we walked down to the valley of the shadow of death.

Which Jesus had to go through before He entered Jerusalem, to be judged.

And thats the place where they would sacrifice children to Baal and that's where all the abominations would be right there.

We walked the streets of Via Dolorosa.

It's incredible to be walking in the very streets of Jesus carried the cross.

We visited the Holy Sepulchre and the Garden Tomb where Jesus was crucified and buried in the tomb for three days.

And to help us imagine at all we went back in time to the city of David ,

where we saw how the city operated and looked like any times of old.

"Anoint him there king over Israel."

And now we have finally made it.

This is our last stop our final destination.

The Temple Mount.

Wow yes!

So we're walking now to the Temple Mount. To one of the gates, we'll see if we can get through..

So, Rhoda tried to get into the Temple Mount..

But they would let us in. Special days special visitation hours, and we didn't pick those.

So what are we gonna do?

We're gonna tell the story

It all started 4,000 years ago when God told Abraham to go to Mount Moriah and sacrifice his son there.

Abraham believing that God will either provide a substitute all will raise Isaac from the dead,

Goes to the top of this mountain and indeed God provides a substitute.

A lamb.

A thousand years later,

King David purchases a threshing floor that is located at the very same place- Mt Moriah!

And on top of this threshing floor,

David's son who built the first temple.

This temple was then destroyed by the Babylonians.

They burned it down to the ground, but not for a long time.

For just 70 years later,

God appoints a king over Babylon who permitted the Jews to rebuild the Second Temple.

All this brings us to the times of Jesus.

According to Flavius Josephus,

The Second temple was renovated and massively expanded by King Herod in the 1st century BC.

He wanted it so much greater in size that he had..

Architects from Greece Rome and Egypt to expand the natural plateau of the Mt Moriah into a giant square platform.

And this would be the temple in which Jesus taught in as a child.

And where he overturned tables of money changers, when they used it as a marketplace.

Seven centuries after Christ,

Almost immediately after the Muslim conquest of Jerusalem the Dome of the rock and the al-aqsa mosque were erected.

There's archaeological and historical evidence,

That suggests the dome was added to an existing church from the Byzantine Empire.

And the storerooms of the temple were converted to the al-aqsa mosque.

300 years later the Crusaders captured Jerusalem and identify the al-aqsa mosque as nothing else, but Solomon's Temple.

It was from this location that the new order took the name of Templar knights.

But they did not stay here for a long time.

In the same century the Mamluks captured Jerusalem and held post until the Ottomans took over.

So since the time the Crusaders were gone until today the Temple Mount was under Muslim governance.

With a strict no excavation policy.

So this is all very very interesting.

But is there really any evidence that the temple stood here? Or that it even existed?

Actually there's a mountain of evidence.

literally a mountain!

Introducing the Temple Mount sifting project.

In 1999, an illegal renovation was carried out on the Temple Mount by the northern branch of the Islamic movement and the Waqf.

What they wanted to do is make another entrance to a new underground mosque.

So knowing that excavations are prohibited they carried out the operation quickly and destructively

They brought a bulldozer and dug out 9,000 tons of earth.

Thinking it's a pile of dirt, they dumped it into the Kidron Valley!

Despite the unified cry from all the sides of Israelis political spectrum,

The government did not stop them in time to save the precious ancient structures.

These structures according to the senior Israeli archaeologists,

You wouldn't even excavate with a toothbrush let alone with a bulldozer.

This was the largest archaeological destruction ever carried out in Israel,

And it took place at the most central site in Israel's history.

But then came along Tzachi Dvira, an archaeology student,

Who simply wanted to save what was lost and while going through this pile of dirt,

He discovered an archaeological goldmine dating to the first temple period!

Later joined by Dr. Gabriel Barkai,

They received the license to claim the Temple Mount debris and established the Temple Mount sifting project.

This mountain of dirt had literally become the mountain of evidence.

Though the Islamic movement intended evil against Israel God intended it for good.

Because for the first time in long history the Israelis were able to carry out proper archaeological analysis,

On the Temple Mount earth in such great extent.

In the past 14 years the sifting project recovered 500,000 artifacts from this earth.

Amongst them invaluable finds over 5000 ancient coins, fragments of stone vessels, jewelry, figurines, arrowheads,

Weights, dyes, bones, ornaments and most of them dating from the first and second temple periods.

Many priestly seals were found here as well with the names from the Bible!

Half a shekel from the Second Temple period with a Hebrew inscription: "Jerusalem the holy".

Many floor tiles from the second temple courts, which for the first time in two thousand years,

Let us reconstruct precisely how the temple floors looked like.

And if this evidence is not enough the stones will cry out and actually they already did.

In the past two centuries archaeologists discovered two hewn stones on the Temple Mount dating to the times of the Second Temple.

These stones have a Greek inscription:

"let no foreigner enter within the parapet and the partition which surround the temple precincts.."

".. Anyone caught will be held accountable for his ensuing death."

But the evidence does not end here.

Recent archeological digs have found thousands of Mikvehs here.

Which are the ceremonial bathtubs used for purification purposes before entering the temple.

The excavations are still ongoing with the most recent ones in 2017,

Uncovering a massive section of the western wall and a Roman theater that was buried for 1700 years.

It would take hundreds of episodes to cover properly all the immense amount of archaeological artifacts,

And historical writings that yield unprecedented proof of the biblical time activity in this land.

Yep, you don't either ticket here, this is free.

Women to the right, men to the left.

So it's also separates women and men here.

Separate?

Yeah.

So we go through here and they go through there.

So Rhoda and Erin had to separate from us because the access to the wall is separate from men and women.

This is the Jewish section so they wouldn't allow the women to go to the male section.

And the other way around.

Because the second temple was destroyed..

And since then the Jews did not have a temple where they can worship God and do the sacrifices.

In the wedding's they would crush the..

Cup after the bride and groom get married as a symbolism of the destruction of the second temple.

It is also the bitterness in a day in the moment of joy.

Then David had a son, Solomon; Solomon had a son..

And he had a son, and we have that succession also recorded in history.

And it goes all the way to Jesus.

That means Jesus is the only verifiable legal and rightful owner of this land.

How incredible is that?

It is incredible to know that when Jesus comes back he's not gonna take what's not His.

He's gonna come back and reclaim what is rightfully and legally belongs to him.

It's really ironic is just the idea that here they are on the outside of what they would say is the inside the temple,

Where God would reveal Himself to them.

And here they are yet completely blinded to the truth about who Jesus is.

That there is someone who has come to forgive them for everything and give them new life.

So close yet so far.

So what is next?
