Previously on... Talamasca.

We're interested in the supernatural.

I don't believe in witches, vampires.

Nobody does.

Until they meet one.

Why me?

You hear things others cannot.

Anna Leamas. She was my mother.

She's alive.

They're using you, kid.

Tell me exactly what they've done for me.

Everything.

We have a specific need

in London at present.

You're gonna get that poor boy killed.

Please be advised...

Come and have a look at this.

What do you think?

Criminalist #2: Yeah, we'll need to bag that.

Yeah, I'll take care of that.

Got a finger.

Least a nick of one.

Might be a fingerprint.

Jesus. She threw herself into a bloody blender.

You don't see a lot of that.

Women do not sully their looks when they top themselves.

It's like, it's either wrist or pills now.

Why is what's left of her all chewed up?

Stray dogs more than likely.

Well, they certainly had their fill.

Pocketbook.

Any ID?

Soledad Marcel. Lives in Wandsworth.

In addition, we've assembled text and basic tutorials

We know that London is bringing in a new operative,

but their motives remain unclear.

When we have more information,

Once we reach out, you'll need to move quickly to gather Intel.

This is your captain speaking.

We are beginning our initial descent

On behalf of the entire flight crew,

I'd like to thank you for choosing to fly with us today.

We hope you enjoy your stay in London

or wherever your final destination may be.

We've selected modest housing for you

in a neighborhood close to the London Mother House.

Here's a critical piece of the puzzle.

Your backstory, which is mostly true,

will be accessible to anyone who searches for it.

This, of course, includes the Talamasca Organization,

who we want to keep at arm's length.

Won't they already know my history?

I mean, they pay for all of it.

No, you are off book, so to speak.

All the arrangements regarding your upbringing and education

were handled privately.

By you.

I'm your pet project.

I suppose one could say that.

So, about a million lies led us to where we are now.

Somehow fitting, I suppose.

Which is why it's essential your legend remain consistent

and as close to reality as possible.

Guy Anatole had a promising career in law

and a rich life in front of him.

Things went swimmingly for a short while,

then the poor boy had a mental break.

A mental break?

Not unusual for someone with your history.

A loner who hears voices

and uses an alarming amount of Clonazepam.

Quite the résumé.

How do I reach you? You don't.

It's a very strong chance that once you leave,

we won't see each other again.

So, I arrive in London

and this all just magically works out?

I don't even know what I'm supposed to be doing.

Whilst we wait for this new operative to arrive in London,

we'll put you close to those who run the London Mother House.

Close enough to hopefully use your skills

to listen in and report back.

And I'm on my own?

If the Talamasca Organization doesn't know what I'm up to,

then who does?

Me and a few select others.

A London point person will be in contact to spell out details.

They're your handler,

and everything will come through them.

This is a very... specific and covert affair.

So I believe I've hit the high notes.

Any questions? Yeah. Just one.

Training and preparation.

That should take a year or become a week.

Helen is in a hurry because there is this drive

to discover what we call the 752.

And she's lost a lot of the people

that she's been working with in order to find this thing.

Where to, ma'am?

Kennedy airport.

We get little pieces of the 752 as we go along

and no one knows exactly what it is,

which is kind of fun.

You should know there is a degree

Danger, in fact.

I think he kind of does let the skepticism slide,

and it's nice to be a part of something.

Dark Horse?

That's kind of what Guy's always looking for.

When someone asks what I'm doing in London.

Fresh start.

You've had a rough time of it lately.

But we've already seen what waits for him in London.

And we know that, as Burton told him,

not every vampire's like me.

There are some people that are gonna try to take you

and they won't play nice.

London Motherhouse

has kind of a creepy vibe to it a little bit,

and there's a Gothic nature to that building in particular.

I think the windows and how they're offset,

it's really beautiful,

but it's also there's something amiss.

The sets are incredible.

The basement of the Motherhouse is incredible.

You'd step on and you don't have to try to figure out,

"Geez, I wonder if I'm there."

No, no, no. You're there.

Just look around.

There's real dirt on the ground.

So this is it. This is the basement.

This is a set that we had to think very carefully about

how it was going to be shot, what the best angles were.

But this is pretty much how I originally designed it.

We're also establishing

more of the inner workings of it.

You see people working at computers

and passing along information.

We know that it's not just Dark Horse,

Guy gets to London with all of this preparation

and then doesn't know what to do.

There's no orders.

We're waiting for something to happen.

Hey. Come on.

Sexy. Sexy.

Asian.

Exotic.

What I really like about reading spy stuff

and watching things like "Three Days of the Condor" and whatnot,

is that you've got these characters

that are reluctant spies,

and Guy, to me, is a real reluctant spy

because he doesn't really want to be a spy.

He just wants to figure out what the hell has happened to him?

Well, the spy stuff is a lot of fun for me.

I mean, just getting into a mindset

where you have to do something

in a really complicated way...

...that could be done very simply.

So it's more a modus operandi

than it is anything pragmatically necessary.

But even more important than that,

it's the mentality of being a spy

that I think the show is very interested in.

That's what I love about that moment right there.

Like, "Wow! Okay."

Who do we have here?

He thinks he's gonna listen to me?

Oh, no, no, no, no.

I gotta get to know him.

In episode two, Guy is in a very rough spot.

And like many spies in many spy books and spy movies,

Guy doesn't know the full context

of the situation he's in.

In following Archie,

which is the only thing he's been told to do,

he is putting himself in great peril.

He's been warned not to intrude,

that this is recon only.

And yet a girl's screams make him as a human being go,

"Uh, should I go? I have to go see if I can help."

Yeah, it takes the show into a much darker realm.

And I think dead bodies

and Guy's never seen a dead body.

Guy doesn't know what the hell to do with a dead body.

And you really do see that vulnerability

of fish out of water.

When he goes into the room

where she's hanging and looks at her,

it's Kevus who had met only a night before

and spent the night with.

And Kevus, this person that he cared about

who actually saw him and cared about him,

and he, her, is like axed.

And so I think that it's like,

"What has Helen gotten him into?"

All he can think to do

is to run away as fast as possible.

And so from that point on,

there's no doubt that his life has changed.
