The public expects us to stop

every single one of these things.

We've had some reports
going on back and forth

of unattended packages.

actually appreciate

the pressure that we're under
in terms of us preventing

something from happening
here in the homeland.

At a small airport outside the city,

special agent Chris Forbes and his team

arrive from a foreign
location with a fugitive

wanted for murder.

The transfer of the
fugitive is nearly complete

when Chris learns of a major
terrorist attack in Paris.

Breaking news.

Reports are coming in of an attack

or quite possibly several
attacks in Paris.

Somebody did say that... that ISIS

- has claimed responsibility?
- Correct.

French 24 Television is
reporting that there were

incidents at seven separate
locations around Paris.

What do the Parisians identify as being,

like, you know...

whatever weakness they
were able to exploit,

you know, and if we
have something similar,

how do we protect it or,
or, you know, harden that?

All right, we'll see you back over there.

No matter how well protected
you think you are,

they're always gonna
find a crack somewhere.

So, if it can happen there, you know,

the natural reaction
is it can happen here.

New York City is on high alert,

as the full scope of the Paris
attacks begins to emerge.

We've got a lot of information
that were inundated with

regarding the attacks in Paris.

So, I'm gonna start just
giving you a basic overview.

The first major event that
occurs is an explosion

at the Stade de France.

The President of the French Republic,

Fran�ois Hollande, was present,

as were several other dignitaries.

And then, five minutes
later, the rolling attacks

at the restaurants begin.

The point to grab from all this

is that things were
happening dynamically,

quickly, all over the place.

The Bataclan, this was the worst carnage

of the whole evening.

People were down on the floor,
people were trying to escape.

At different times, people would get up,

try to run, they would
be shot and killed.

It was just an absolute scene of carnage.

FBI New York's
extraterritorial assignments

are Canada, Africa, and Western Europe.

Paris is their area of responsibility.

I'm special agent

in charge of counterterrorism
matters here.

I've been in the FBI 18 years.

Yeah, it's not good, Mike.

My parents are immigrants
who came from Cuba

and they talked about the FBI.

I don't remember the exact details.

Fast forward, when I was in high school,

growing up here in New York,
there was a guy in my town

that was an FBI agent, and
he got me really interested.

At that point, I was kind of committed.

Overseas, I served in Yemen

and Iraq and Afghanistan.

I can't think of any terrorism case

that has not had some
type of connection to,

you know, to New York.

20 HRS AFTER PARIS ATTACKS

The FBI is on the alert,

they've been speaking
from their command posts

at their headquarters in Washington

to all their field offices.

Just kind of shows you
what ISIL is trying to do.

They're looking for mass chaos.

Kwame Lewis speaking.

All right, yeah, I was
just trying to find out

about the two leads... the
one that came from overseas.

All right, because Legat is saying

that they're both different.

I just want to make sure
we're tracking that.

All right, separately,
we're gonna be creating

a threat matrix, and I wanna
make sure that you guys have it.

Kwame Lewis' team of
intelligence analysts

are scrubbing leads and
scouring social media

for clues to the Paris attacks

and looking for any
connections to New York.

The main thing that keeps me up at night

is information flow.

I am concerned that, you know,

while we're digging through all the stuff

that's going on overseas,
something may slip by us

here in New York.

as the FBI expands operations

in response to the attacks in Paris.

We have SOD1 and DND7, right?

Regarding the priority?

I have not, no.

We know you can't think of everything,

and it's that unknowing, you
know, it's that one thing,

I'm like, "What didn't I think of?"

We had to call down to the
Washington field office

this morning to deconflict a few things

because we had a lot of
different names coming up.

We weren't really sure who's doing what

and where the information's coming from

- and we want to validate that.
- It's only been 24 hours.

You know how this gets. And
that's a lot of assignments

for the French to go get it over to us,

decide what's gonna come back over.

The faucet's gonna get turned on.

So we're ready for it. All I'm asking...

and Kwame's been spearheading this...

keep the information
flowing every which way.

There is not gonna be a
classification issue.

We have some information.

34 individuals we talked
about in the last meeting...

- Yes.
- That have a nexus to ISIS

and to the people that are suspected

and we wanna make sure
that there's no nexus

- to the United States.
- We need somebody

to constantly be churning
this thing and scrubbing it.

We have to know everything
that's going on,

even if it doesn't affect
us because it may later on.

Kwame, you're not allowed to have...

Any food, okay? Stay away from my stuff.

You got crumb cakes?

It'd be nice if you invited me
to a crumb cake once in a while.

Those actually are given
to the people that work.

All right, so if you're
a worker you would get some.

We are looking... not just at France...

we're reaching out to Belgium,

we'll reach out to Spain, as well,

to see if we can get any system

- out to those individuals.
- And we've got a team here

from New York that's
going to Paris as well.

So, we've got to marry
up our investigators

and our analysts to go over to Belgium.

So, as soon as we can do that, do it,

and if we've gotta send
them other places,

that's what we're gonna do.

The FBI New York personnel will assist

French authorities as the hunt

for possible accomplices continues.

On the home front, Carlos and his team

have begun a full review of
cases connected to ISIS.

When I was first working terrorism,

we used to have a photo book.

We would have anywhere between,
let's say, 50 and 100 subjects.

We would go out and do interviews

and we would basically
flip through the book

with our cooperators and ask them

whether or not they
knew these individuals.

We couldn't do that nowadays.

There's so many subjects now
that we're looking at...

you know, here at home and abroad...

that there's absolutely no way

we can capture all the subjects

that we're looking at the way we used to.

It's virtually impossible.

Rapidly, we expect many
details will change,

but what we can piece together so far...

Because of the attacks in Paris,

we've identified a handful
of cases here in New York

that we're gonna go up on 24/7.

We do have the Office
of Victim Assistance.

Stacy Bierce... she has
been helping us out

with family notifications,

and working with us to make sure that

we take care of everything in
terms of getting bodies back

and whatnot.

We're probably gonna start looking at

increasing our posture and our readiness

with the upcoming
Thanksgiving Day Parade.

I spoke to the police
commissioner last night.

You know, that's always a big event.

You know, they're very opportunistic,

so we just have to worry
about the copycat

trying to do something here.

Over 5 million people
will visit New York City

between Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve.

The FBI and their partners
will be under intense pressure

to keep everyone safe.

One of the challenges that you will have

is the white noise.

The white noise on the outside.

All the other stuff that's
related to New York.

While I do care about
what's going on in Paris,

New York is home and this
is where I'm worried about.

In the wake of Paris,

with just days ago before the
Thanksgiving Day Parade,

the FBI and NYPD are
working around the clock

to prevent anything from
happening in New York.

I'm from New York. Grew up in Brooklyn.

King's County, Flatbush Avenue.

This is my hometown.

I wasn't in New York when 9/11 occurred.

I was in Fort Gordon, Georgia.

I was actually out
processing out the military

at the time frame.

And I sat there, and I'm
watching my city...

my city basically burning.

And it was a period of about three hours

that I couldn't get in
touch with my parents.

The phone lines were dead,
and it took us a while

before my mom finally rang
and said she was calling.

So, anytime something happens here,

I take it personal.

- Hey, sweetie.
- Hey, sweetheart.

- Hi.
- Hey, sweetheart.

Can you say hi?

Chris Forbes.

I wasn't granting data entry access

to anybody other than FBI.

Chris met his wife, Harmony,

an intelligence analyst,

when both worked in organized crime.

Is he still planning on using
the CMC next week for that TTX?

Oh, I never did ask him that.

You can just call Callie and tell him,

you're gonna have to find something else.

It's really important
to be married within

because it helps you understand more

the pressures that are
on the other person.

'Cause even though he's an agent

and I'm an analyst, we still know about

all the investigations going on,

so if Chris gets a phone
call and he has to leave

at 4:00 in the morning, I understand.

In the event an attack takes place,

Chris and the Office of Crisis Management

must coordinate the response
of hundreds of special agents

and analysts, with personnel
across multiple agencies.

If something were to happen,
mentally, what would I do?

What checklist would I go through

to start figuring out,
okay, what do I need

to get accomplished?

I know on a daily basis,
you don't need it

'cause you guys are the top of your game

and you're pros at what you do.

When that big event happens, how can I,

you know, best help get you guys moving

in the right direction
as quickly as possible

so you can do what you do best?

The threat's always
evolving, so we always

have to be evolving to be best prepared

to deal with the unpredictable.

I'm constantly trying
to think about, like,

what is the worst thing
that could happen?

So I guess the creepiest aspect of it is,

even when I think I've come
up with the worst thing

that could happen, I could then think

of something even worse.

So, I think, for me, that's the most

frightening part of it...
is that I can't seem

to top out on what that worst thing is.

Now to an alarming story
we're following about

what authorities call ISIS-inspired plots

to attack here in the United States.

The FBI says it has a
number of investigations

going nationwide.

Some have already resulted in arrests,

and the most recent came today,
when the FBI says an agent

was attacked right here in New York.

We had a team of five SWAT operators

supporting one of the CTK squads

for, you know, what the
case squad believed to be

an ISIL sympathizer.

Our responsibility was
just to conduct the entry.

Really did not expect him to be a threat.

In June of 2015, on Staten Island,

Chris was involved in the
takedown of an ISIS sympathizer

who tried to kill a
fellow SWAT team member.

When the vehicles pulled
up and we approached

the front door, I ended up
being third in the stack.

The subject, unbeknownst to us,
he had a 9-inch butcher's knife

hidden behind his back,

and tried to stick another
agent, Kevin Coughlin,

in the abdomen.

I heard Kevin say, "I'm stabbed."

I could see the knife still in his hand.

I just braced across his throat,

trying to get him to, you
know, relinquish the knife.

I was able to wrestle the
knife out of his hand.

Basically, you know, just hogtied him,

got him cuffed up.

Fortunately, Kevin had his hard armor on,

and that has a ceramic
trauma plate in it.

I'm convinced that plate

is what stopped that
knife from penetrating.

What was most disconcerting about it

is that kid was committed.

At any moment, without warning,

anybody is a potential threat.

THANKSGIVING DAY

While Americans across the country

are getting ready for
Thanksgiving Dinner,

Kwame and the team at FBI New York

are hard at work on the lookout
for any suspicious activity.

Hey, Calista, I'm gonna send you an email

regarding individual possible
guarding coming out of Atlanta.

Just as the parade is getting under way,

a potential threat surfaces.

A Libyan student on Homeland
Security's watch list

has been sighted in New York.

They're not definitely
sure it's derogatory.

And before they could
make the assessment,

he traveled here.

Well, maybe they're on a short-term visa.

They would already have it booked.

I mean, it's... whatever
the derogatory is,

it's top secret.

Happy Thanksgiving!

An individual, we're trying to
locate him here in New York.

A guy who traveled in
here back in August.

Recommended for watchlisting.

His visa was revoked and his
credit card is hitting here,

so we need to find him.

If they have to respond to anything,

make sure that they have some
type of police markings.

I'll be walking around as
well as at the command post,

so anything you got, hit me up.

Do we know if he's on a school visa?

So, he's on an academic visa.

His point of contact is Links Students,

which is a Libyan student network

that works with major oil.

The FBI soon learns

that the Libyan student may not be alone.

Can we see the seven
individuals that were with him

that are in that additional email?

Let's pull the CCD records on that.

And we'll send it out to
the rover team as well,

so they know the other individuals

that may have traveled with him.

- Let me get it to you.
- I think that may be the difference.

I'm pulling up the
email for you, okay?

He traveled to New York
with three other people.

All right, so it's four people,
four packs, all right?

No derog in any of them except
our subject, all right?

And that's why it's probably
hidden in New York.

- What's going on, fellas?
- They showed up

with minimal luggage,
four names, we have them.

Minimal luggage, hotel calls PD.

We have six people staged outside.

I think I'm going to send
two or three more down,

just to make the party bigger.

An analyst confirms the student's visa

has been revoked, but his location

- is still unknown.
- The visa was...

it was revoked by DOS.

It could just be that
he's not going to class.

Well, if we had one that's
visa's been revoked,

he got... yeah, that's
a ground ball for us.

- Okay.
- But I think they revoked it

because he was placed
on the watchlisting.

I can't tell from the email string

if he tried to purchase
a gun or someone else

tried to purchase a gun and
just fingered this guy.

This is making it sound like

- he tried to buy a gun.
- Yeah.

And if that's the case, I mean...

I mean, my guys out on the street

definitely need to know that.

Let's just go ahead and just
run it upstairs on the SCIF.

This guy might have tried to buy a gun.

Getting annoyed. I'm getting annoyed.

While thousands gather to watch

the Thanksgiving Day parade,

Kwame and the FBI are on the hunt.

A Libyan student with a revoked visa

has been spotted in the city.

And he may have a gun.

All right, what about
the background checks?

Do we need to pull up the first
background checks on that?

Yeah, you handle that, I'm
gonna start reaching out

to our closest team and see if

I can just redirect that.

Kwame and his team eventually track down

the Libyan student, far
away from the parade route.

To their relief, he is unarmed.

We got a lot more information.

The individuals were located.

They left out of our area.

We don't think he had a weapon.
We do think

he may have been trying
to acquire a weapon,

but at this time, we pushed the
case back down to Atlanta.

So it worked out well for us,

but that's the new normal.

With the threat downgraded,
Kwame can finally

head home for Thanksgiving dinner.

As Americans come together

to celebrate Thanksgiving,

native New Yorker and FBI's Legal Attach�

to France, Niall Brennan, joins Parisians

in remembering the 130 individuals

who lost their lives on November 13th.

As a New Yorker, I can
draw a lot of parallels

to the response that New York
had to the 9/11 attacks.

I knew 13 different people
that were killed on 9/11.

One of my childhood best
friends was killed that day.

So, you know, working the
counterterrorism mission

post-9/11 became a personal
mission for me, as well.

In the early years after 9/11,

we looked at terrorists targeting

sort of iconic landmarks.

And while the Paris
attacks certainly focused

on a major population center,

several of the targets that were hit

were unremarkable targets

in an unremarkable neighborhood.

Our job isn't done once we've
hardened the hard targets.

There's, you know, sort
of an infinite number

of soft targets that can
be hit at any point.

You know, it's sort of sewn into our DNA

as FBI agents that have worked

in the New York Joint
Terrorism Task Force

to think that if something's
happening somewhere else

in the world, it's gonna happen
in New York City as well.

We have two suspects that
are dead at the scene.

One is a male, one is a female.

As police moved in to clear
the building room by room,

victims poured out.

An intersection turned
into a triage center.

Just six days after Thanksgiving,

America's worst fears are realized,

when terrorists strike
in the United States.

We're following breaking news

out of Southern California.

Two suspects are dead in
a shootout with police,

following a massacre in San Bernardino.

This is so I don't go bald

with all the stress from the FBI.

Raise my curls to action.

A recap on the numbers...
14 people are dead,

at least 17 are injured,
including a police officer.

All of Southern California on high alert

as the drama unfolds.

San Bernardino, you know,

I feel for my law enforcement family.

I feel for the FBI. And you listen

to the pundits on the news,

you know, why didn't the FBI know?

You know, they're on our phones,

they're listening to our conversations,

how come they didn't know
about these two individuals

that said, "Today's my day"?

The man and his wife said... you know,

they drop off the baby
with mom and kiss them

like nothing's going on,
they go to their car,

they pick up their weapons,

and they just start killing people.

There's no way to predict that.

With Christmas and New Year's Eve

fast approaching, anxious New Yorkers

wonder if ISIS will choose the
city as their next target.

But preventing attacks has
grown more complicated

because of long-standing
concerns over privacy.

And our top story is this major showdown

between the federal government and Apple.

This, after Apple declined to give access

to encrypted content on
San Bernardino shooter

Sayed Farook's iPhone.

Officials say the iPhone
might help explain

the suspect's whereabouts at
the time of the shooting.

Things have changed dramatically

since when you and I started working CT.

And you had individuals
kind of being messengers.

Now you have all this
other encrypted data

that's being shared that, you
know, is making us dark.

And that's a tough challenge
for us right now.

The threat came from ISIL
through social media.

They sent their twin-pronged
message of "Come or kill"

out through the chaotic spider web,

especially of Twitter.

The FBI shares the latest analysis

with law enforcement
in the private sector,

encouraging them to work together

to help prevent future attacks.

If ISIL finds somebody online,

who is a live one, they move them

from Twitter direct messaging
to a mobile messaging app

that is end-to-end encrypted.

And at that moment, the needle
that we have been searching

a nationwide haystack to
find goes invisible to us.

We call this the "Going Dark" challenge.

A federal judge Tuesday
ordered tech giant Apple

to help the FBI unlock the iPhone

of San Bernardino mass
shooter Sayed Farook.

Encryption is a good thing,
it's not a bad thing.

People should have the ability
to have private communication

without unauthorized
government surveillance.

But if the privacy
between you and I leads

to a catastrophic event
for a thousand others,

is that privacy worth it?

The question becomes: how do we balance

privacy and public safety?

Randy Derouin and FBI SWAT

face a formidable task:
protecting the 1 million people

planning to watch the ball drop
on New Year's Eve in Times Square.

In preparation for New Year's Eve,

we're training for a worst-case scenario.

Multiple crisis sites,

multiple casualties, multiple actors

indicative of what they saw

in both San Bernardino and in Paris.

My days are spent... and my nights...

coming up with possible scenarios.

Everything from the most dangerous

to the most likely.

You can plan for every
conceivable possibility,

but as soon as the first shot is fired

or the first crisis pops,
it could all go to hell

in a handbasket pretty quickly.

In the Office of Crisis Management,

supervisory special agent Brian Harkins

is meeting with Chris to
review security plans

- for New Year's Eve.
- Here's the op order,

I don't know if you've seen
it for the New Year's.

- I haven't yet.
- Here you go.

Historically, we've always
looked at New Year's Eve

as kind of being centrally
located, you know,

right by the ball and everything,

but given the most recent events

with Paris, San Bernardino, I mean,

our biggest thing is not only getting

that speedy response from communication,

but also, I mean, you
know what this place

looks like New Year's Eve.

How are we gonna physically
get those teams,

those assets from point to point?

Just want to do everything
we possibly can

to prepare for it and anticipate it,

and, you know, God forbid, react to it.

On any given day,
thousands of New Yorkers

and tourists pass through Times Square.

For this reason, this historic crossroads

is a prime target for terrorists.

In 2010, FBI New York's
nightmare scenario

nearly became a reality.

On May 1, 2010, Faisal Shahzad drove

into Times Square in a Nissan Pathfinder,

parked his car on 45th street.

Police evacuated buildings
and cleared streets

of thousands of tourists
around New York City's

Times Square after finding
an apparent car bomb

in a parked SUV.

I was home from work, I was
the supervisor in charge

of the domestic terrorism squad.

I got a call from my
immediate supervisor,

the ASAC, who said that there was
an incident in Times Square.

They said that there was
gonna be a full up response,

and we were gonna go out and
see what the issue was.

He pulled over, he attempted to set off

the device, and he fled the scene.

That was a bomb designed to kill people,

and that's why he went to Times Square.

He was looking to kill as
many people as he could

and make a big a splash as he could.

They had set up a three-
or four-block perimeter

around Times Square where
the bomb actually was.

We had the bomb techs from
the NYPD who were on scene

start to go into the vehicle.

They looked in the back
and very quickly saw

this is a complex IED...
improvised explosive device...

made of propane canisters.

Did not know the size of the actual

explosive components at this point.

But when you're talking about
the bed of a pickup truck,

your hair goes up on
the back of your neck

'cause this could be a city block

that it could take it out.

It's "plastique" or high-level explosive.

When we recreated the device,

the blast pressure was
the biggest impact.

As the blast pressure went
out and went back in,

that would've been the
equivalent of causing

massive damage here in Times Square.

All the glass panes on these buildings

would have broken, glass would have come

cascading down on all
those walking around,

and internally, the blast pressure

would have destroyed the internal organs

of all the people that were within

maybe a hundred-yard radius.

We had gotten some instant
reports from the police

and from some cameras
that we were immediately

starting to pull that it looked like

one individual got out of the car.

I got in touch with my squad specifically

and said, "All right, we have a manhunt.

It's a manhunt now. We do
this better than anybody."

Once the device was safely disassembled

and rendered safe and we're
able to take apart the car,

under the engine block,
we were able to identify

the VIN number which led us
to the owner of the car.

She had sold the car to a guy for cash,

didn't know his name,

but he did give her a phone number.

Just in case this was cross-border,

they went over to our Customs
and Borders partners

and said, "Give us... we
want everybody who came in,

anybody who lists this
number with your folks."

A man had come in from
overseas in Pakistan,

and they're required, when
they get interviewed,

to, "Hey, who are you
gonna be staying with?

Give us some phone numbers."

The list hit one of the numbers

that was actually in the phone

that was thrown away.

The guy who came through the border,

Faisal Shahzad, listed that number

as a relative's residence.

Get me a picture of
everybody on that list

who owns that number.

Get me a picture of Faisal
Shahzad, right now.

Once we have a name,
once we have a picture,

tracked him to his residence
up in Connecticut.

Had some surveillance on him.

The lights were on in the house.

We knew he was married,
knew he had a child.

SWAT team is literally gearing up.

We got a call from Customs
and Border at JFK.

I said, "Listen, we have a
guy here, Faisal Shahzad.

Do you want him?"

"How do you know you
have Faisal Shahzad?"

Well, he got on a plane,
the plane had pulled away

from the taxiway, was getting
ready to go down the runway,

and because a Custom and Border agent

went through it and there
were three or four

folks of interest on the plane.

They brought the plane back.

I left immediately.

Get out to JFK in record time.

We go in and Faisal Shahzad
is in one of these rooms,

sitting there very calm, uncuffed.

Could assess very quickly
he was talkative.

At that point, we took Mr.
Shahzad to a hotel room,

sat with him, and just started to talk.

We got him about within 48 hours

to say, "Okay, yeah, I was trained

"by a foreign terrorist organization

"to do an attack against New York City.

"I was sent back to New
York to select a location.

"I had plans to do other targets

"until the police caught up with me,

"at which point I was gonna shoot it out

with the police until either
I was killed or they were."

We start to bring in the CIA, the NSA.

These folks would be listening
in to the information next door

and feeding it to our
interrogators to say,

"Ask him where exactly that house is

in that village over there."

The guys were next door
targeting those places.

Literally contemporaneously
with the information

flowing in because this matched up

with what they knew
about suspected people

they were looking for.

And they would do either a direct strike

or they would go pick
people up based on this.

We're basically lining folks up.

What would you need to
know for your agency?

Okay, let's ask him that.

Based on everything that had come out,

he pled guilty, and it's
right after his arraignment,

so it was almost ironic.

from the capture to when he
pled guilty and was sentenced.

Possible terror threats. That
includes here in New York,

Los Angeles, and Washington DC.

Obviously here, in New
York, the big concern

is the ball drop celebration
to ring in the new year.

One New Year's Eve that
we got to spend together

since we've been married.

We've been married seven years.

And we had one New Year's Eve that we got

to spend together when we were dating.

I sort of just accept that he has to go

where he has to go whenever
he needs to be there.

There's a lot of give and take, you know?

I have to make up for it in other ways.

He cooks all the meals.

- So that makes up for a lot.

As Senior Team Leader of SWAT,

Randy is responsible for FBI New York's

tactical response in the event
a major incident takes place.

Randy was in Afghanistan
a couple of times.

That was much more concerning.

But even then, you sort of put
it out of your head every day.

And it's only when something happens

that you get reminded
that there's a risk.

So you have to say to yourself,

"I'll get the phone call
if something happens.

And if I'm not getting a phone call,

then I have to assume everything's okay."

The people out in San Bernardino

were able to execute
something fairly basic.

And if a bad guy decides
to barricade himself

or run into a building and
start shooting people,

then he owns the timeline.

There's a lot more assumption
and risk on our part,

and we run to the sound of the gunfire.

Prior to tonight and the
activities for tonight,

we changed our training profile

to deal with complex attacks.

New Year's, there's always gonna be

heightened senses to pay
attention a little bit,

probably a little bit more.

In years past, it was,
"What's the likelihood

"of their attack being orchestrated

and conducted in the United States?"

We got our answer in San
Bernardino fairly quickly.

You better make sure that
you have the ability

to adapt to an ever-changing environment.

At 5:00 p.m., Joint Operations Command

is at full working capacity
as agents and analysts

dig in for a long night and
eagerly await Randy's chili.

The first thing I told the
ASAC when I walked in here

was that, like, I'm so disappointed

'cause Randy's got the
venison chili down at 26 Fed

and I'm stuck up here.

And not, I don't think 20 minutes later,

I see you walking in with
a bag and he's like,

"This might be it."

So you knew that the
chili was on its way.

He knows what he's doing.

Look at this, he's got
a napkin on his lap

and all the stuff like that.

- What is this?
- Before you started abusing,

I was going to actually
offer you a taste.

This is Randy's venison
chili, right here.

And it is out of this world.

It's squirrel!

You're going to be
spitting out the pellets.

It's been a tremendous year for us

Munich is over 4,000 miles away,

but with 1 million people
in Times Square tonight,

every threat will be heavily scrutinized.

Obviously, there's always
that lingering fear

that New York City is
always gonna top the list

of one of the places that folks...

anybody that's trying to
send a message is gonna look

to try to do something in.

You know, especially with the events

that happened recently.

So our number one goal is to get
ahead of it before anything

can even happen and that's... you know,

sometimes that can seem
like a very daunting task.

As New Yorkers await the
dropping of the ball,

Carlos and Assistant Director In Charge,

Diego Rodriguez, are on the ground,

checking in with their
agents and the NYPD.

If these, you know,
knuckleheads can do anything,

then they'll try to do it tonight.

We are just a few minutes away from 2016.

an unattended package

located just a few feet away
has officials concerned.

There's a suspicous package
right there at the Mcdonald's.

the contents of the package.

We've got almost all the
