Galinda at Shiz University, Elphaba is studying sorcery in hopes of working

the wizard. With a contemporary routine to The Wizard and I, it's our Grammy

-winning singer from Pentatonix, Seth Lang, and his partner, Riley Arnold.

I'm so excited.

When I watched it back, the form was forming.

How much do you love Wicked? Wicked is my favorite thing in the world. It's my

whole personality.

I've seen Wicked on Broadway maybe 20 times.

And the movie is on replay at my house.

So for me, this is the equivalent of like Jordan Childs finding out there's a

gymnastics night. Have you been able to meet anybody on the cast of Wicked?

Well, I've known Ariana for years, and I've got to sing with Cynthia before,

I always try not to fangirl. I'm like, hey, I'm cool and normal.

Yeah, hey, friend.

That's so cool.

Dada, stay in that plie. The story of this contemporary is Elphaba's

of what the wizard should be. Lift.

First of all, is this the best season of Dancing with the Stars ever? Oh, my

gosh.

You know, Wizard and I is all about dreaming and yearning, and that's what

Cynthia does best. And when I see you, that's what you're giving out here. I

feel it in every part of my bones. To learn a new style of dance and to go out

there is incredible in front of the whole world. Now, contemporary is hard

people with regular arms and legs. So with you, with the extra long, it's

amazing. So I wish some of the transitions were a little cleaner, but

me away to Oz. All right.

It's so good to see you.

Let loose in the land of old. I love the determination and energy.

But there were a time you were so enthusiastic that you missed some of the

passes. It's because of passion. And I get that. I'm a very passionate person.

Control it a little bit more, my love. Yeah? Okay.

Okay, this is my point for you to level up. It's just something I think that

could help you level up. It's sometimes your arms go in and out of character.

So sometimes you're like, hi, I'm Scott.

And sometimes you're like, I'm the wizard.

And I think you just need to balance the two so the whole piece feels more

balanced, okay?

I think to piggyback off what John said about the transitions, I think it's

really important to think about making it more seamless, right? Thinking of it

as one continuous thought instead of separate sentences.

So when you do a lift, you've got to continue the lift, move through it, and

then into the next piece. Instead of sort of lift, transition, and then do

side -by -side. So one continuous sentence, and my friend, but beautiful

open the show. Well done. All right.

theater when i was younger i am one of the worst singers that there is so i

always got cast as like a tree one time i was a printing machine literally

for an hour so i get to live out my musical theater dream okay

So we're going to see that type of energy come out of Alex. Not everybody

Glinda is such an iconic character that so many people know, so it's really

important that I'm able to do this character justice.

Commit to Glinda. But it's a challenging routine.

There's been some confusion for you, see, my roommate is

unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite

impossible to describe.

Blonde. But it's feeling so sudden and new.

I felt the moment I laid eyes on you.

My pulse is rushing. My head is reeling. Yeah, well, my feet was buzzing.

What is this feeling?

Does it have a name?

Loathing.

Unadulterated loathing.

Let's just say I love it all.

Every little trace, however small, makes my very flesh begin to crawl

with simple utter no thing for.

I thought it was delicious.

You know why? Because it was right back to the classic musical comedy.

You know, the kind of characters Gwen Verdon used to play, or Lucy Ball used

play, choreographed by the character.

Everything had the right intention and the right place.

It wasn't your most difficult dance, but it was your

I love it. Love it, Derek. I think tonight is all about storytelling, and I

did it feel like to be something other than a printing machine?

You know, this is really great, and I think that's the great thing about this

show is it gives you the opportunity to do things and to be on a stage and be

Yep. I am really challenging Robert this week with this jazz. We are pointing

out all the stops.

There's a lot of risk involved, but Robert and I started at the top of the

leaderboard, and we need to get back there.

Oh, God, are you okay? We've got flips, we've got tricks, because I am here to

really be the best I can possibly be. So this is our most ambitious dance yet.

emotional. This has already changed my life in so many ways. And I wouldn't be

knowing that I have it in me.

So it's Wicked Night, and we're dancing a rumba. We haven't done Latin since

week two. The rumba is the Latin dance, which I wasn't as good at.

Ooh, that's a good point.

Being at the top of the leaderboard is scary and motivating, so let's do it.

Really strong, powerful.

Rumba is intense and passionate.

Keep this strong. Oh, my God.

And because it's so slow, it can easily expose any mistakes.

So hard.

This romance and passion is so far out of my comfort zone.

And being at the top of the leaderboard is even more added pressure. Slow.

Because I know I can do that now, and I need to do it every week.

I could have done that better.

is a really hard song because it's slow and um every piece of you is being seen

on that camera but i was watching your eyes and you were so connected in this

story even going down the stairs which is really hard to do uh so i'm just very

impressed and i think this is the kind of masculinity and dance that we need i

can't believe you've never done this before congratulations beautiful all

Subtle, sensuous, romantic, wonderful extended line, beautiful frame for your

girl. Your hips have no problem at all.

In fact, sometimes you lost a little control of it. You know what I mean?

Because you should never be jagged in the Roomba. It has to be like flowing

water. And you lost it a little bit in the middle, but it's the hardest dance

do for men. And you did very well. All right.

The partnership here is what makes this magic, and we can see it. I mean, this

is a true journey through life. They're actually growing as human beings as they

dance on the dance floor in front of us. This is what I'm loving, and I think

this is what is connecting us all to. But sometimes, you know, the foot got

stuck on the drag turn reverse a little bit. You were like, but otherwise,

wonderful to watch.

Okay. Derek, my man, you're just growing. You're progressing.

You're paying attention to the details.

And I appreciate that so much. Because as a dancer, when you're putting that

focus into something, I see those things. So thank you so much. Also,

she is that girl. She's like dancing with a Ferrari.

And I say that because you're not being overshadowed by her power.

You are being very strong in your movement. You're being deliberate.

being intentional. The quality of your movement, the fluidity. There's a few

things with the foot placement. Yeah, I just turned it out a little bit more.

Keep her on those details. But Dylan.
