high on the shop floor.

Why are there still carbon?

David wants it on the car.

give both cars a uniform look.

AMELIA: I think the way
you finish your work

Arriving at the unit today
is new customer David Ward.

And he's brought
two cars with him--

a high-performance Brabus smart
car, which spends its life

on the racetrack, and a
stunning Mercedes SLS AMG,

which is strictly for the road.

- Hey, how are you?
- All right.

Yeah.
- Doing well?

- Yeah.
- It's so bright out here.

DAVID WARD: Isn't it?
Yeah.

YIANNI: SLS.

Beautiful, isn't it?

YIANNI: I used to
have one of these.

DAVID WARD: Yeah?

But I actually regret selling
it because all they're doing

is going up in
value at the moment.

Don't sell it.
- No, no.

No, I'm definitely not.

YIANNI: The doors-- once they go
up, that's what it's all about.

DAVID WARD: Yeah,
I think that's it.

You fill up at a petrol
station, and you've

got crowds of people,
like, looking at you,

YIANNI: Yeah, well, that's
not a normal exhaust.

It looks like a Brabus.

I can see the B on the side.
Is that a Brabus?

It was a Brabus.
I blew the engine up.

So that's a Hayabusa
booster engine now--

DAVID WARD: Yeah.

Wow.
How fast is that?

Well, I haven't really
tested it to the limit yet,

but it's a lot quicker
than the Brabus one.

- Would you track it?

I used to track the old one.

That was quite good.

I got 120 out of that one.

120 on a track in a smart car?

In a Brabus, yeah.

I've taken a lot
of cars on track,

but I'd love to actually
play with that one.

So you've got two.

They're both in silver.
DAVID WARD: Yeah.

YIANNI: What are you thinking?

- Darker.
- Darker?

DAVID WARD: Yeah.

What, a darker silver?

No, just sort
of more menacing,

I suppose, really, with it.

So sort of a darker gray.

YIANNI: A bit more
racy, a bit more--

DAVID WARD: Yeah, exactly.
Yeah.

That one's been wrapped.

So that's already
got a wrap on it.

YIANNI: Oh, that one?
DAVID WARD: Yeah.

Yeah.
- So that's not a factory paint?

No.
It was initially black.

Then it was wrapped
in the Union Jack.

And then it's just--
it was wrapped in that.

So I assume I'm going to
take the wrap off that car?

Yes, please.
Yes.

Yeah.

And, uh, just go
exactly the same as this

so they mirror each other.

So literally, they're just
going to be both be uniform?

DAVID WARD: Yeah.
Exactly the same, yeah.

And anything else?

I'd like an AMG stripe down--

down the bonnet and
again on the smart.

The first smart
car AMG Hayabusa.

DAVID WARD: That's the one.

And you're leaving me
both at the same time?

Yep.

So literally, two of
my bays in my workshop

are going to belong to you.

NARRATOR: This two-seater with
its incredible gullwing doors

is one of 2010's most
iconic supercars.

Its 6.3 liter V8
pushes the car to 62

miles per hour in 3.8 seconds.

The Brabus smart
has been heavily

modified for the racetrack.

Its motor has been replaced
with a mega-powerful 1,300cc

Hayabusa motorbike engine.

First, he gathers the team.

Hello, everybody.
TOGETHER: Morning.

MIKE: You all right?

Mercedes SLS.

She's gorgeous, isn't she?

What's the best
thing about this car?

- Doors.
- [whistles]

[laughter]
- The doors, yeah?

You like that?
- The doors, the doors.

YIANNI: The gullwing doors.

Nice.

It's a fantastic
engine, sounds amazing.

But the gullwing doors--
that's what it's all about.

I know it's a nightmare
to wrap, Mikey.

Yes, it is.

YIANNI: And you're
the door king.

Yeah.
What color is it going?

It's going to go,
like, a dark gray--

so shuts and returns.

So we're losing all the
silver on this vehicle.

Mike, when you strip this down,
we're not taking the doors off,

are we?

No, the doors are not
coming off their hinges.

We'll strip down the door cards.

We'll do the wing mirrors.

There's a whole heap
of vents on this.

So there's still quite a bit of
work to do on this definitely.

Strip it down and
see how we get on.

OK.

So this is not his only car.

He's got another little car.

OK.

That he bringing here?
- Yeah.

So there's this--
MIKEY: OK.

What, are we doing it in
a couple of weeks' time?

No, we're doing them
together back to back.

YIANNI: The other car's
got a crazy engine.

OK.

So what's the car?

It's a smart car.

But it's got a
Hayabusa engine in it.

Wow.

What?

That's a proper
car, supercar killer.

YIANNI: Supercar killer.
[laughter]

MIKE: Yes.

Probably because
it weighs nothing.

And that engine-- phew.

Let's put it up
against your Lambo.

No, Mike.

So it's the smart car
going to the back.

SLS will stay here.

So they'll be both the same
color-- literally going to be

uniform, exactly the same.

And they're going to
have stripes as well.

And then we'll get the
smart car into the back.

MIKE: No problem.

his cars to match.

They'll both be
wrapped in dark satin

gray and feature-contrasting
gloss black details.

The Brabus will stay
in the back bay.

And the SLS will be
worked on in the front.

Solid, mate.

You ready, yeah?

NARRATOR: The SLS is
first to be stripped.

[music playing]

Yep.
Good.

Go.

NARRATOR: Both cars
will be finished

with a gloss black stripe.

On the SLS, the grilles and
vents will be wrapped to match.

[drill whirring]

All right.

So we're going to get
this front bumper off.

Yep.

NARRATOR: In the office,
Gina is finishing up

the job sheets, which
will stay with both cars

throughout the wrap.

They're vital as they tell
the team exactly what to do

and not to do on each vehicle.

[music playing]

Amelia and Chris get straight
to work on the little city car.

Um, have you seen the
color of the door, Amelia?

No, I know it's blue.

Yeah.

AMELIA: Like, a bright blue.

It's looking like
a replacement door.

NARRATOR: The mismatched
door is a battle scar

from past track
sessions and a reminder

that this is no ordinary car.

The gloss effect gray body
wrap needs to come off.

But the job sheet
says that client

David wants the carbon effect
vinyl around the lights to stay.

Mike and Pav can
now begin stripping.

They put them screws in,
and not them screws either.

NARRATOR: It's a
workhorse of a track car.

And as it's also been
wrapped twice before,

the panels have
seen better days.

[music playing]

Go on, Michael.

That's it.

That's it, bruv.

NARRATOR: It's not
just Yianni that's

excited by the track potential
of this tiny city car.

Mike, you know this thing is
an absolute weapon, isn't it?

It is indeed,
mate-- very quick.

But where's the
roll cage, man?

This-- because the
chassis is like a monocoque.

It is like a big roll cage.

Yeah, I know.

But still, man.
Come on.

Oh, yeah.

I'd definitely put
another couple of bars

here and there, stiffen
it up a bit more.

PAV: Look at that carbon.

That's, like, solid
as well, isn't it?

What, is that
real carbon, that?

PAV: Yeah, of course it is.

[laughs] Is it really?

Well, hold on.

[taps] Yeah, that's

It's just a big sticker.

NARRATOR: The team
have a real affection

for these little motors.

They even have one as
a courtesy car, which

sometimes surprises clients.

Are you kidding me?

[laughs] It's wrapped.

Where's the rest of it?

YIANNI: [laughs]

NARRATOR: Back on David's smart
car, the wrap is underway.

But the team only manage
to complete the Brabus door

panel before the day is over.

[music playing]

It's a new day.

And Yianni comes straight down
to check in on the Brabus.

Hiya, Tel.

Hello, Yian.

Ooh.

Blue door?

TERRY: Blue, yeah.

It's also had a
second-hand panel

chopped on it at some point.

YIANNI: It's a proper
workhorse, isn't it?

Yeah.

The paint work is really
bad on it all over.

It is a track car, though.

Yeah.

Why is there still carbon?

That's wrap as well.

I thought it was a full strip.

We've been told by the
customer to leave it on.

Mate, I can't
leave that on there.

It looks bad, doesn't it?

If that's wrapped
by someone else

and it's lifting and
peeling, it's going

to look like we've done it.

I'm not going to be
responsible for that, man.

Let's just get it wrapped.
- All right, cool.

- No worries.

All right, Tel.

NARRATOR: In the
front bay, Mikey's

working on the intricate door
shuts of the gullwing supercar.

To get there,
you're pretty much

wrapping blind because you
cannot see whatever it is there.

So it has to be with a touch.

NARRATOR: The shuts
and returns will

take the longest to
complete, but there are

lots of other panels to cover.

So several wrappers
tackle the car at once

and try and get ahead.

I think this color is going
to be nice on this car--

can't wait to see it.

[music playing]

NARRATOR: Work on the road-going
supercar is progressing well,

but the wrap on the tiny
two-seater track car

has hit a roadblock.

Well, I spoke to Yianni.

And he said he does not
want this left on the car.

David does.

I know, but it's
Yianni's wrap.

His name is on it.

People see this, they're
going to think we've done it.

David wants it on the car.

And it's his car.

NARRATOR: Bert now needs to
try and change David's mind

and lose the carbon vinyl.

[phone ringing]

But he's got a job on his hands.

[ambient music playing]

DAVID WARD [ON PHONE]: Hello?

How are you?
DAVID WARD [ON PHONE]: Not bad.

Yeah, not bad.
How about you?

Yeah, good.

Just, um, a quick call, David.

We feel that the carbon
fiber vinyl wrap that you've

got on the vehicle--

it's looking really, really
tatty around the edges.

What I would propose is to strip
all of the carbon fiber off,

leave the gloss
black pieces exposed.

And I think that will give you
a nice contrast between the gray

that you're going for.

DAVID WARD [ON
PHONE]: Yeah, yeah.

- Yeah.

Are you happy with that?

DAVID WARD [ON PHONE]:
Yeah, that would be fine.

is going well on the supercar.

But Mikey is still working on
the complicated door shuts.

So the only funny part
about this is that's the shut.

So you're only
going to see it when

the doors are open,
which is going

to happen for three seconds.

And then no one's
going to see it.

But hey, that's the way it is.

NARRATOR: Upstairs, Yianni
is always monitoring

progress via the CCTV.

He also keeps a close
eye on his socials, too.

But he doesn't always
like what he sees.

YIANNI: [chuckles] Bert.

I-- [laughs].

People on social media
are actually crazy.

They're trying to say that
wrapping is not customizing.

They're wrong.
Of course they're wrong.

YIANNI: Well, of
course they're wrong.

NARRATOR: It's a criticism
they've heard many times before.

Yianni and his friends even
posted a spoof video online.

Wrapping is not
customizing, is it?

Let's face it.

He's a decorator.
That's all he is.

Come on, he's just a decorator.

If you break it down,
all this guy is doing

is putting a giant sticker--

NARRATOR: In the back, the
wrap is motoring along.

The only sort of tricky
part with this door

is the fact that there's
quite a deep recess

going straight down the middle.

So we're going to have
to lay it from the top

and then feed it in as
we get to the middle

just to make sure
there's absolutely

no air trapped in there.

Otherwise, it will lift.

[music playing]

NARRATOR: The two cars are now
in sync and back on schedule.

And this little two-seater
will be ready to be

reassembled tomorrow.

[music playing]

It's a new day.

And Yianni's off to work early.

He's planned a special handover
tomorrow at a racetrack,

but there's still a lot to do.

Pav and Mike have started
putting the car back together.

With only a handful of
panels to fit on the car,

it comes back to life
surprisingly quickly.

Right.

Pav, as you know, this is a
fairly big part of the car,

actually-- the whole front end.

I can already see this
is going to be so tight.

[light chatter]

Mine's in.

All right.

Happy days.

On this side, there's four
screws that hold this bit.

We've got another
two at the front.

And that's pretty
much it on the smart.

Mate, this car is
quite simple, man.

There's not much
holding it together.

I know.

Clipped in and few screws,
and that's pretty much it.

OK.

Well, that's it.

NARRATOR: To set off the
dark satin gray wrap,

David wants his cars uniformed
with matching black details.

On the supercar, the
vents and grilles have

been wrapped in gloss black.

Mikey is finishing the front
badge surround to match.

That looks good, man.

I'm pleased with it.

Michael, my friend.

This is for you.

I nearly fell
asleep waiting for it.

MIKEY: Have fun with it.
- Yeah, yeah.

MIKEY: More than I did.

[laughs]

NARRATOR: Both cars
will be finished

with a front-to-back
black stripe

but not until the
reassembly is finished.

NARRATOR: In the back, Amelia
is lining up the first stripe.

She has to make sure both cars
are finished to the highest

standard for that uniform look.

AMELIA: See, I don't
know whether it's

because it's at an
angle at the very top--

that's sort of distorting it.

Because if I pulled this
off so it was straight,

does it still look as if
it's going to the left?

Yeah, the gap--

it looks tighter at the top
than it does at the bottom.

AMELIA: Than it
does at the bottom.

So move it over to the left
at the bottom slightly.

Yeah.

You got the SLS
and the smart car--

both gray, both have the
exact same stripes go down it.

Do you know what?

I really like it.

I really like the uniformity.

You've got such a
bold, out-there SLS.

And then you've got the smart
car, which is, shall we say,

a sleeper car,
something that you

wouldn't expect to
absolutely tear like it does.

But no, they do look
brilliant together.

NARRATOR: She's on
the final straight.

And with the black badges
to tie it all together,

this complex uniform wrap
job is finally finished.

With both cars complete,
Yianni comes to check

that his team have delivered.

Thank god they
removed all the carbon.

I didn't want it.

It didn't look good.

And I didn't want myself
responsible for someone else's

work.

They've gone gloss black--

happy.

NARRATOR: The
gloss black details

carry through on both cars.

Because these doors
go up, it is not easy.

Mikey has done a fantastic job.

He's managed to get inside,
cover the original color.

And I'm really, really pleased.

We've uniformed both
of David's cars.

Obviously, this is
the creme de la creme.

This is the daddy.

This has to be perfect.

And then we'll get
that one on the track.

the next morning.

And Yianni has brought
David's cars to a private test

track for a special reveal.

He's hoping to
impress his customer

enough to let him
loose on the track

in the super-fast smart car.
