And he's ultra protective of his classic car.

to make sure that everything is covered.

NARRATOR: Inside the garage, stripping vinyl

proves to be just as problematic as wrapping.

You can actually see the actual lacquer that's

coming off of the bumper.

NARRATOR: And Yianni is asked to fit a tracker on a car,

but it's his staff that go missing.

Why are you stopped?

NARRATOR: In the garage, the pressure is building.

YIANNI: So Aaron has messaged me, 1,

2, 3, 4, 5 times this morning.

NARRATOR: Will the 21st century wrap look

right on this '90s classic?

Do you mind if I do a once over just to sort of check?

[upbeat music]

NARRATOR: It's a new day at the garage,

and a returning customer is on his way.

Aaron is a restaurateur.

And his 20-year-old Mercedes SL60 AMG is his pride and joy.

This modern classic cost an eye-watering 80 grand

when it was first manufactured.

And the only person Aaron trust to wrap it is Yianni.

Yianni, how are you?

YIANNI: Oh, man.

How are you, sir? You're well?

How's everything.

Yeah, I haven't seen you in a while.

You're OK? - Long, long time, man.

So obviously, saw you seven years ago, I

think, with this car.

Seven years ago.

AARON SINGH: You probably couldn't tell by the wrap.

It's obviously still in good condition.

It looks gorgeous.

It still looks really, really clean.

AARON SINGH: Most people think it's amazing.

For me, I'm hoping to obviously just change it a bit with you.

You are a bit--

I know-- I remember, no disrespect, you were like a very

meticulous, fussy person.

You used to ring me 20 times a day when I had your car.

Well, I know me coming today, you're

probably dreading and worrying, Am I

going to call you 20 times out?

I just want to put your mind at rest.

So we're actually going to strip it.

AARON SINGH: So we are stripping it.

Unfortunately, the gloss white that we did seven years ago,

it's just not doing it for me.

And I really want something that's

sort of sparkly and metallic that really looks like paint.

So you want like a metallic white.

Obviously, seven years ago, vinyl was a lot different then.

So there's loads more vinyls that have come out now which

look a lot more like paint.

That's really ideally what I would like, please.

for uprating engines and handling for this famous mark.

Aaron has an eye for detail and a passion for this SL.

He wants his car back in four days.

The team will need to be at the top

of their game to satisfy him.

[upbeat music]

This takes me back.

I knew you'd like it.

MIKE: Mm-hmm.

Do you remember this car we wrapped?

I was going to say, yeah, this is a wrap, isn't it?

Yeah, I thought it was factory paint at one point.

The wrap still looks good.

It is seven years old.

No way.

Seven years old?

You must have been a toddler back then, isn't it?

[laughter]

So we're stripping it and rewrapping it.

My concerns with this car.

Firstly, because it is an old classic, when

you strip the car down, Mike, you

can't afford to break anything.

We ain't going to be able to get parts for this.

No, we're definitely not going to be

able to source parts for this.

I am very concerned with this car.

You need to be real, real careful.

My other issue, Kiran, you're the strip king.

This one's going to be a problem.

Seven years on the car, normally,

when it lasts that long, comes off in little pieces.

Paint comes off sometimes.

YIANNI: OK.

I was tempted to give it a good clean and then be like,

He's going for a sparkly white this time.

The customer is real fussy.

This is his pride and joy.

If it goes wrong, we have got a problem.

Get this car stripped.

NARRATOR: The team don't enjoy working on classic cars

as they're tough to take apart and put back together again.

The old vinyl must be heated to above 40 degrees

to make it flexible enough to strip.

It's coming off better than I expected,

but we're still going to be here for a long time.

Yeah, I know.

Full car.

Yep.

NARRATOR: Vinyl wraps are designed to last

for three to four years.

Advances in the industry mean that current vinyls

are easier to remove.

But as feared, the seven-year-old white wrap is

breaking up as they strip it.

Ah, I reckon this is going to take us a good day, bro.

Got a whole day to get all off.

Yep.

Maybe day and a half to clean it as well.

Just getting wrapped after.

NARRATOR: As the vinyl is removed,

Kiran is also keeping an eye out for any damage

to the paint underneath.

Look at the paint.

It's brand new straight from factory.

NARRATOR: Like many of his clients,

Aaron trusts Yianni to choose the perfect vinyl.

Can you bring me a couple of sample books, please?

Yeah, OK.

YIANNI: He want it white again.

Yeah.

But he wants it a bit more fresh, a bit more sparkly.

OK.

YIANNI: Like a sparkly white.

So like a metallic, but he still wants to look at, like, paint.

I think that, that is white with the sparkle.

That's definitely the one.

Order me 16 meters, please, yeah?

BERT: Cool.

Just bear in mind, Aaron, he's a fantastic guy,

but likes things checked 100 times.

And he will ring me 20 times a day.

a day because I'm not going to handle that.

Outside, a Range Rover has been dropped off

by an entrepreneur who likes to keep a low profile.

The customer wants to make sure if it gets stolen,

it's protected.

PAV: Tracker then.

Obviously, wire it all up.

NARRATOR: Fitting this device is a highly secretive process.

Only certain people in the UK are registered to fit them.

PAV: Right, this specific tracker is a Cat 5,

and what that means is it has an immobilizer,

a tracker, and a GPS system.

NARRATOR: Pav must first disconnect

the car's battery, which is buried behind the engine.

The tracker won't go under the bonnet.

It will be hidden elsewhere on the car.

And not even Yianni is allowed to know exactly where.

Fitting a tracker lowers your insurance

premium significantly, which is why it's becoming popular.

It will take Pav a couple of hours to get the work done.

Then it will be time to test it.

Across the garage, Mike is well into the strip down.

This modern classic car is held together by 20-year-old

screws and fragile clips, which are

no longer being manufactured.

Yeah.

[sighs] I knew there was a point of me being here,

even if it was just for this one moment.

NARRATOR: Mike might love these cars,

but the team hate working on something so fragile.

You never know what you're going to find.

Now, what we're gonna have to do,

start pulling the vinyl from this way,

because if you go that way anymore,

it's just going to make that bigger.

What if this keeps happening over the car?

I'm just going to have to deal with it.

will need flattened down much.

NARRATOR: The paintwork issue could be serious

and will slow the wrap down.

Stripper Mike has been called in to take a look.

I know Kiran found that bit of damage on the wing,

but it's looking like the whole front bumper is going

to do exactly the same thing.

Front bumper coming up with it?

Yeah, we've got lacquer coming off.

And it's still coming off as I'm going around.

No, this is actually worse.

NARRATOR: If they just cover the damage with the wrap,

it will show through.

Time to call the bosses.

All right, so I'm just texting Bert

to say that the paint is coming off on this wing on the SL.

YIANNI: So Aaron has messaged me 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 times

this morning.

Talking about Aaron, Terry just fired this message to me.

I'm going to forward it to you.

[dings]

That's the passenger side front wing on his car.

Whoa, it's taking the lacquer off.

BERT: Yeah.

Let me go down and see Terry.

Aargh!

Good start to the morning.

Mm-hmm.

[upbeat music]

My man, I thought Bert was coming down.

No, he sent me the picture.

Let me have a look.

SPEAKER: Yeah, it's all flaking.

It's all been painted.

Is that primer underneath?

SPEAKER: No, that's the color.

It's literally just taken the top layer of lacquer off.

But on the front bumper, it's taking it--

Front bumper as well?

Yeah, front bumper has gone right down

to the primer and the filler.

So in the wing, a bump in the side.

And we've already got two panels that have got paint coming off.

Yeah.

There's going to be a fun conversation to have with him,

isn't it?

[ringing]

AARON SINGH [ON PHONE]: Yeah, man.

How are you?

AARON SINGH [ON PHONE]: Yeah, not too bad.

I've got a couple of issues.

AARON SINGH [ON PHONE]: Should I be nervous, Yianni?

Quick update on your car.

So obviously, we started stripping the car down.

So it's taken a little bit of lacquer

off on the passenger front wing and the front bumper

where it looks like the car has been painted in the past.

We are going to need to rub down and prep

it to make sure the vinyl is perfect when

it's laid onto the vehicle.

AARON SINGH [ON PHONE]: OK.

OK.

Well, guess I'll have to live with it.

OK, take a picture of the car every five minutes

and send it to me.

This guy's relentless.

It just doesn't stop.

NARRATOR: Aaron authorizes Yianni to mend the paintwork.

The team can remedy the faults, but it will add time to the job.

Yianni's paintwork expert Terry gets straight to work.

TERRY: Get that nice and smooth.

NARRATOR: Wet and dry sandpaper cuts back

the damaged paint and lacquer.

Later, Terry will prime it to ensure

a smooth surface for the vinyl.

Basically, now when I'm sanding it,

I need this hard edge to feather out,

so you can't feel it anymore.

And that'll stop it showing through the vinyl.

And also that it doesn't flake back anymore either.

Otherwise, you sort of end up getting bigger and bigger.

NARRATOR: The primer goes on at 5:00 PM and will dry overnight.

[music playing]

It's a new day, and Yianni is on his way to the garage.

First job is to fire up the GPS app to check the tracker Pav

has fitted on the 4x4 works.

So just logged in.

Let me just find the car.

And there he is.

So I can see him driving around.

It's working. Brilliant.

So I can find out exactly where he is.

Why have you stopped, Pav?

PAV: I'll have one small lamb shish wrap.

SERVICE REP: Yeah?

He's around the corner from the unit, and he's stopped.

Let me find him.

[phone rings]

Hello.

YIANNI [ON PHONE]: Pav, how're you doing, bro?

Yeah, I'm good, mate.

Just sorting out this tracker.

It's working really well.

Yeah, no, it's all working.

I can see you driving around.

Why are you stopped at the moment?

Umm, I'm in traffic at the minute, man.

Pav, you're not in traffic.

You're two minutes away from the unit, mate, and I can see.

Seriously, why you're stopped?

PAV [ON PHONE]: Come on, man. I had to get sat in.

Well, at least it works.

NARRATOR: Back in the workshop, Nico and Mark have started

wrapping the bonnet of the SL.

The new metallic white vinyl looks the part.

And under the bonnet is something just as impressive.

It may have modern classic status now,

but this Mercedes still packs a mighty punch.

It has a 6-liter V8 engine capable of 0 to 62 miles

an hour in just 5.8 seconds.

We're about to lay this wing.

It's passenger wing.

Hopefully, this bit won't make us any trouble.

And hopefully, hopefully.

NARRATOR: Mark now has to lay a test piece of vinyl

on the repaired front wing.

It looks perfect for me.

Ready?

Can't really see anything.

[music playing]

We got to do this wrap.

It's good, man.

[whistles] That looks nice.

Nick, looks perfect.

NARRATOR: Mark and Nico continue wrapping

into the evening to make sure the job stays on schedule.

Deadline day.

It's now down to Mike to carefully

put this classic back together.

As much as I enjoy working on the Lambos and the Ferraris

and the Porsches, my heart will always

be with the old-school motors.

These are the cars that I saw growing up.

So I'm just putting the last, final touches

on the body kit on the SL.

And I mean, throughout this whole job,

I've been quite worried about taking the car apart,

fitting it, how it would fit back together.

But luckily, it's gone back quite nicely.

[door thuds]

NARRATOR: This old-school classic is finished.

And they can all breathe a sigh of relief.

But Yianni knows nothing will be overlooked

by perfectionist Aaron.

Oh, my god, he will spot that straight away.

Actually, really good.

Thank god.

NARRATOR: The wrap is good, but Yianni

has found two corners in hard-to-reach spots

which have lifted slightly.

Oh my god, if he saw that, he would eat us.

NARRATOR: The team needs to flatten

the edges back and then superheat

them so they stay in place.

Aaron's car is now complete.

I found a couple of things that are not major,

and I'll get Terry to get one of the guys to rectify it.

[dings]
