Wow. I didn't think Dave would do that.

But it was all about Lizzie Mucin, who
won her second Invitational in a row.

Transfer it for Lizzie Mucin. She just
won $40 ,000 in front of you tonight.

That was a huge win for Lizzie and Team
Kai Kelly. With that win, they are now

back at the top, sitting at number one.

Is this like a follow -up?

We're here getting ready for the
Invitational Race at Vandermeer

Colorado.

This is a favorite track for most of the
racers because it is in the side of a

mountain. But with the view comes the
reason why it's a view. We are at

of 5 ,800 feet.

And as you know, that poses problems for
the racers.

It's tricky to tune. The air is thin. It
is very difficult to make power.

You'll probably hear it a lot, but the
nitrous cars definitely have the

advantage up here on the mountain.

This track is very nice, and look, if
you can figure it out, you can probably

pretty fast.

Vandermeer, how are you doing today?

All right.

Who was here last night?

Saw some great racing for sure.

Look, we have even more today.

As you know, Saturday is always the main
event for the No Prep Kings race.

This is my favorite track.

I love coming to this track.

Let's make this the best No Prep Kings
race of the entire season. What do you

say?

We are at the halfway point of the
season. The competition at the top is

extremely tight. One race can make the
difference.

Team Kai Kelly back in the number one
spot for the first time since Bowling

Green. And part of that is due to great
performances from Lizzie Mucey, who has

won the last two events, and Kai and
Clay Cole, who both made it into round

three of last week's event. Clay Cole is
a new racer out here. And look, some

teams didn't know what to think of him.
But it seemed like he could be a real

contender. Daddy Dave's team is only 20
points behind Kai's. And Bodie is only

50 points behind Dave's. Every race
matters as these teams chase that $200

championship.

Now it's time. It's late in the season.

We really got to go for broke. In order
to even have a chance of winning this

championship, we got to make moves and
it has to be this race right now. And I

think I'm going to do extreme moves to
try to get these points this weekend.

No, but I do think I got a car to win. I
do too. I really do. So obviously this

season, we haven't been winning any
races.

Last year, Jerry won here on the
mountain.

He's the only nitrous car we got on the
team, so I want to make sure he's

racing. My main goal as a team captain
is to make our team win. I really feel

that Jerry needs to be racing here no
matter what this weekend.

You're our horse. You have to be racing
this weekend.

It's stupid to not have you on the
racing side.

So we're going to do whatever we can do
to put you in that slot.

out for Greg Chandler.

Jerry in Greg's spot, he takes the load

of Jerry's back, he doesn't have to race
his way in, and he can get more test

Holding a team together and managing a
team is way more stressful than people

think. Paige, she'll go out first round,
and that's the reason I want to trade

her off. Oh, that's the strategy. That's
a tough one.

I can see why Dave might want to make

Paige did really well in her first event
this year, but she's fallen down since.

Page didn't even qualify for the event
last week. Meanwhile, Jimmy Taylor made

it two rounds.

That 20 points is the exact amount that
separates day team from first place.

And as a captain, sometimes you have to
put feelings aside when you're chasing a

championship.

It's going to be Jimmy Taylor over here
in the right lane.

And Jerry Bird.

All kinds of stuff over there in the
left lane.

It shook a little bit. It shimmied.

Then it backfired, and when I seen it
backfire, I knew something broke.

We broke a rod.

I've never broke a rod, and nothing I
ever owned.

Now's not the time for this.

We made a deal to get me in the show

and swap with another guy, and then my
motor don't make it.

Man, it's a f***ed up situation here,
ain't it?

That's like worst case scenario
possible.

So Team Disco had to make some more
changes. After Dean failed to race his

in and Jerry blew up his engine, Dean
put himself into Jerry's spot in the

Invitational. And now, he and Larry
Larson are the only ones representing

team today.

Mike Murillo also made a change. He
pulled Mike Chandler up in the Dominator

spot. And he actually has all five of
his drivers in the Invitational today

the first time all season long.
Meanwhile, Paige Coughlin did manage to

way in, making a statement after Dave
tried to trade her. Now, all five of

Dave's drivers are racing today, which
gives them a shot at moving past Kai's

team, who are holding down the number
one spot, but only have four drivers in.

Now, folks, as you know, there are 32
drivers. They all have to draw a chip,

this takes just a little bit of time.

are set here for round one in Colorado,
and there's a few big ones.

Clay Cole is going up against Damon
Merchant. This is an interesting race

because Clay is looking for some big
matchups to prove his worth.

Teammates Dave and Kayla drew each
other, and you know they've got to be

disappointing because they wanted both
drivers to be in round two.

Ryan Martin is back in the Fireball
Camaro, and he is going up against Team

Murder Nova, B -Rad.

Coming at you right now, that is going
to be Paige Coughlin going up against

Scott Scooter -Taylor.

How are you this morning?

Frustrated. Frustrated, yeah. You know
the feeling. I got that, too.

You know the feeling. Yeah.

What's going on?

Just keep losing number six. Like, it
was running really good, and then it

falls over.

You guys checked everything
mechanically.

Are you sure? Just not a fuel, a tune
-up in that area?

Yeah, we hit the tune -up. We hit the
converter. We hit all the steps that we

needed to go fast here.

And now it just keeps setback after
setback on it not running on six.

Last night, we kept losing cylinder six,
and we really haven't found the

solution. So we've dug in. It's not in
the motor. It's not a mechanical

It's an electronic problem.

And that's the hardest thing to find. We
got a gremlin.

And it keeps getting worse.

We've replaced everything on this car
last night. We stayed up all night long.

Every single piece of electronics are
new. We got all five in. Yeah, we got

five in. That's what I'm talking about.

That's the first time in a minute.

We're running badass.

So we got Pace Coughlin, first pair.

I like racing first pair.

Today, it puts a little bit of a time
restraint on us because we're still

buttoning up, hooking all that stuff up,
double -checking everything.

Paige is super fast. She's learning
fast. She's running good.

But if this thing runs, I think we're
going to be in good shape.

We come out swinging at the beginning of
the season, and then we have just went

backwards and backwards and backwards.

You guys will figure it out.

I knew going into this race that the
elevation was definitely going to play a

role in how this thing runs. And I know
that we worked on it Thursday, just

making some little changes here and
there to kind of help give it a little

more juice to kind of make up.

I mean, it's very different than what
we're used to racing in.

We're super excited to be here. We
really want to help out Team Daddy Dave.

know we're second in points right now,
but we got all five players in today and

Kai Kelly's team, team number one right
now. So we really need to close that gap

today and we need to come out on top.

It's pressure, yeah, because I don't
want to be the weak link.

I really want to prove my worth here. I
said, I know I'm new, but you know,

we're willing to be here and we're
worthy of the spot.

Scott Taylor, he's a tough opponent.

Last couple weeks have been a big
struggle for us.

Hopefully, sooner than later, we can put
everything behind us and we can start

having a good run to try to get back up
in this championship.

our best shot for this first round.

pressure on me to try to get in this.

If I could take Kai out right here, it
just blows the point here. It's wide

right here in Colorado.

Invitational Day.

We come to this mountain thinking that
we've got a car that we feel like we can

win.

The turbo cars and the nitrous cars are
supposed to be doing better out here,

but I feel like I was faster yesterday.

Round one, I drew Chuck. He's really
good at guessing the light, so he's

somebody we need to be worried about
because if he guesses that light

definitely be right.

He didn't see that green. No, no, he
didn't see it. Oh, yeah, he almost got

Lower belt, trading in half on the
starting line.

Luckily, he went red.

I got a gift on that one.

We got lucky. We got a gift. Now what we
got to do is go back and get this thing

fixed and be ready for round two.

But, dude, I feel like we had a tune
-up, and I wasn't trying to, like, okay,

guess or die.

Yeah, it looked like it was going fast.

Like, when I took off with you, we was
pretty much stuck for a minute. Yeah.

And then I just let out.

We just drew Mike Murillo, one of very
few that I do not want to draw ever out

of the bucket.

Every time I've run Mike Murillo, we've
had a mechanical failure on the car.

And so, like, we tease each other. I
tell him he's got a voodoo doll back in

trailer, and they're, like, poking
needles in it and stuff.

We do have all five of our guys in.

Everybody's running great, and so we'll
see how it unfolds.

I'm glad you left that voodoo doll at

We've not raced him ever.

Longevity into the season was going to
be our downfall.

Part getting parts, keeping parts to
yourself.

So we're trying to be as competitive and
cautious at the same time.

Things kind of changed with the
atmosphere and everything around here.

So we're trying to make it through this
race, go around without catastrophic

failure. But, hey, here we are.

We showed up. We're going to do
everything we can to go around today

My team started off really, really good.
But in the last six races, we've been

slipping. And if we don't make a move,
man, we're going to get pushed out. So

today, the team, we have three guys in.

Bobby's in, Nate's in, and Damon is in.
We really need Nate and Damon to pick it

up and hold us down again. We're putting
a lot of weight on them guys.

Something was wrong there. It didn't run

And the transmission jumped. For one,
the transmission rolled a lot of road.

We didn't have transmission issues.

It starts tracking toward the center

I get out of it, get right back in it.

weeks in a row now that we've been out

Had a really good first half of the
season.

We know the longevity of this is going
to be kind of a hard spot for us to be

in. But, you know, all we can do is push
through.

know, hopefully start kicking ass again.

Man, Clay Cole, he's a new guy. He draws
Damon Merchant. I ain't gonna lie, I

didn't really have much faith he was
gonna be able to beat him. But he went

there, made a hell of a fast pass. He
pedaled the car and still outran Damon.

people's gonna start putting some
respect on Mr. Cole's name, and I'm glad

have him as part of the team.

That is gonna be Kyle Canyon going up
against Robin Roberts.

Kyle Canyon, first round here at Denver.
It's probably a good draw for us

because he hasn't been here a lot. He
hasn't made a lot of passes. He's still

fairly fresh. So for us, we've got this
car rolling. We're just going to go up

and do what we do.

For the whole team, Team Ryan, here we
are sitting with all five in. That's

awesome. So we just need to keep
chipping away at it. This team is good.

We just got to do our thing, keep
rolling forward.

As far as my team goes, you know, we
keep saying every weekend, we need a

turnout for my team.

so that we can score a bunch of points,
and we need some of these guys that have

been doing well to not do as good.

My team has always kind of done pretty
good, and pretty good is where we go

where we are. I think we're fourth, and
pretty good's okay, but not good enough.

The cool thing about this format and the
way it's going right now is that it's

still pretty close between one and four
as far as the groups go. When you start

getting to five, six, seven, those teams
are a little farther down, but one and

four can literally swap spots.

-Prince.

car has been running pretty good.

Lutz has just been having nonstop
problems, so they went out there today,

the tires, turned the car sideways, and
it is what it is. You know they lost.

last week, knew everything was going to

racetrack.

Can't go out there and really do much
other than clean up his mess, so we're

going to need everything we've got and a
little bit more to get past track first

round.

draw that I was looking for. At this

point, we're going to go up there. We're
going to run our race, see if the track

holds what we want to put in it.

the middle? No, huh? I don't think so.

So we drew Murder Nova for the first
round here of Invitational. Murder Nova,

I've been watching him. He's actually
been really fast. He made it to

semifinals, the last event. He's been on
a roll.

So it's going to be a tough round for
us. I mean, we did good last night into

the finals there. But, yeah, this will
be a tough round here.

Colorado's tricky.

It's a beautiful place. Everybody wants
to race here.

But it's tough racing here. The high
elevation messes with the cars.

So as soon as we got here, we had to do
all kinds of work to the car. We upped

the compression.

We pulled the heads off.

change the head gaskets, and the numbers
that it usually takes to win, it's not

even going to be close to that up here
on the mound.

going up against Lerner Nova.

How good does that feel? Yeah. Yeah.

Man, I think you know.

I want to tell you, you have no idea how
good that dude is.

We got about 10 minutes or so. Start

So round one, I got B -Rat. He always
runs really well. He's the type of car

that if you mess up at all, he's going
to get you.

This is my second week using the
fireball for this.

Thank God that I have this car.

It's been sitting.

We've had it ready for big tire street
racing, which for me is a completely

different setup. So I haven't really had
a lot of time with this car to beat on

it and make it right and have it ready
for No Prep Kings, but it makes a

fantastic backup car.

Today, I felt like we finally got the
car a little closer to where it needs to

be. I don't know if it'll be enough on
this mountain, but we're going to give

all we got.

I'm not swinging for it, but we're going
to bump up a little bit from what I had

for round one.

Because it's Ryan, but we're not doing
too stupid. Like, everybody does stupid

shit. Burns a motor off or blows the
tires off. We're not going to do that.

We're going to make a good, solid, super
-fast pass in state and have a motor

for the next round. That's what we're
going to do.

Well, we've got to do tires and stuff
like that. So let's go and get that

I'll tell you what. For me and my son,
which, if you didn't realize, it's me

my son. That's who we are. We're like
the David and Goliath battle here. Like,

we're always against these guys with
these big, great teams. It's just me and

him. It feels good to just be here, but
even, like, say Ryan beats me, beats me

by the defender, it really doesn't feel
that bad. It's bittersweet, but it's

like, even though Ryan's got this big
team, it's like, we're still coming for

car. We're just going to run our race.
The track is very hot and greasy.

Going up against a nitrous car for the
first round is pretty rough. But we'll

see how it goes down in place.

You know, Justin's fast, got a heck of a
program.

He's done good for a long time, and he's
struggling right now. But I know last

night they made good passes, and, you
know, I hate to race Justin. He's a

of mine. You know, but when we turn them
beams on, everybody's an enemy until we

get to the other end.

And that right there was a close drag
race.

All four of my teammates are going in
the second round. So

that's badass.

Dave's only got two.

Kayla eliminated her own captain.

Boaty's team, they only got one in. So
we're doing really good. We're making

moves. We're getting 40 points every
time we go to the next round. So I'm

by the end of this day, we'll have about
a 100 -point lead on everybody.

Even though I took a lost first round, I
think I still won in the long run

because I feel like I now have my race

street, on the track, whatever. He's
always a good competitor. His cars

run pretty good. That tells me we've got
to be on our A game. We went a little

too slow against B -Rad for my taste.
This being second round, it will be

better. The track temperature will be
better. The track surface will be

So we're going to turn this thing up a
little bit and try to give him a good

race.

Y 'all do it. We obviously drew a bear
for this next round, too. We have Ryan

Martin here.

We'll fix the tune -up, try to go as
fast as we can. Hopefully it's enough to

beat Ryan.

He's definitely beatable this year. I
mean, to be honest, he was beatable

year, you know what I mean? But the
field got tighter this year.

Everybody's running better, so we've got
to be able to outrun him. Right now,

another pretty fast car with my car

been sitting around for a while. I do
kind of feel like we have one of the

faster pro car cars here, and I'm pretty
stoked about it.

before I went to the driver's meeting.

I drew Lizzie Mucey, so come back and

We're looking forward to round number
two, but we did draw, I feel like, the

toughest competitor on the property.

When we pulled into this track, I said
Lizzie Mucey should win this event, and

that's who we drew.

I'm going to give her everything I got,
and if she beats me, it's just her day.

I actually ran him in the grade eight. I
beat him in the grade eight, but he

actually didn't have all his cylinders
running, so he was down on cylinders,

his car wasn't up enough, so... He
wasn't able to make a good pass against

but I know when he has all this stuff
put together, I know he's going to haul

out.

And Lizzie Busey gets the win. Scott
Taylor right there.

She's not able to get around Lizzie.

That was a close race.

We go up, get ready to stage.

I feel like we left about the same time.

I saw him right there with me, and he
stayed there right with me the whole

Nova. So at the end of the run, when
they quit pulling, I was waiting for

to pop back.

And it didn't. It could be anything.
It's like a ghost in it. It could be

But then again, it could be something
major. And going against Murder Nova, I

mean, last time we raced, we were bumper
to bumper at the finish line. So this

time, no joke.

We have less than five minutes, so we're
supposed to be at the line. Yeah, we're

supposed to be on the starting line now.

And here we are coming down and going
against Murdanova, and that thing is

moving. At the end of the last minute,
pass is shut off. So we come back,

everything in the car. We'll change the
fuel pump, injectors. We'll change

everything we can think of.

I'm hoping.

He's down there right now waiting on me,
so I got to go. All right. They came up

to me, and they said, Axeman's having
some problems. And I was like, hey, you

know, I'm not waiting on him.

I'd like to have had some more time in
between rounds to work on my car, too.

her our best. So it's a tough draw, but
we've got to beat her.

going up against Nate Saylor.

So round two invitational, we got David
Gates.

He's got a big nitrous car.

We're hoping we can overcome that with
this pro charger set up. We think we got

the stuff to do it. We're just going to
turn it up.

Round two, we drew Nate Thaler. He's
fast.

He's got a great program. They've got a
great team over there. They work hard.

They've got a lot of nice parts, a lot
of nice cars.

But when we go up there and turn them
beams on, I'm going to try to tear his

head off at the tree, get to the other
end first, and I ain't throwing them

And I feel a pretty good draw for us.
Felt like it was a good draw.

At the end of last year, Jim Howell come
out swinging and... He looked very

promising. His combination was hauling
ass, so he's not to be taken lightly at

all. But Kayla's doing really good this
year. A handle on her car, and this

should be a really good race.

So Kayla Morton will move on to the

I mean, we're making a lot of progress.
We've been putting down more power than

we have all season. We found a lot of
traction after the 2 -3 shift, so

everything's working.

So he's also a screw -blown Hemi type of
deal. I know he's got a PJS motor. It's

a little bit different.

Obviously, he has a lot of knowledge
because he's made some good laps here.

He went to the finals last week.

So he is hauling ass.

I really need to go to the semifinals or
the finals and get them points worth

it. If I fall out any earlier, I feel
like I just failed the team.

Dude, I couldn't even give you a good
race. What happened? I don't know if I

to be Clay Cole going up against Robin

Roberts.

I got Robin Roberts. Never paired
against Robin before. I beat Damon first

round. If we go up here and we beat
Robin, in my opinion, that's two of the

fastest cars I've seen.

That would be a huge accomplishment for
not only me, but as our team.

We're just going to go out there and
turn on the wind light.

I actually don't know Clay Cole from
Adams, so I have no idea about him. The

car's running good.

It's still a struggle up here. It's just
hard to get these blower cars to work

the way they should, so we're just
pouring everything to it and seeing if

holds, and so far it's working.

We tuned the car up. It's the best you
can do in Denver, man.

We're going for him. So for the whole
team, we're really not too far out of

next slot. So we just need to keep
chipping away at it. This team is good.

We just got to do our thing, keep
rolling forward.

About mid -track, he just pulled, I
don't know, put a foot or so on us. He

a great pass. We made a really good
pass.

For Clay Cole to go out there and beat
somebody like Robin Roberts and Damon

Merchant in the same day, that says a
lot about my number four guy. He's a bad

dude. He's got a fast car, a good
-looking car, and he can drive. So

Seems like somehow, someway, Lizzie's

don't know if that's just bad luck for
her.

People draw her all the time. I don't
know. But at the end of the day, that

means that our team is going to get 10
points one way or another.

Depending on how this goes, I bet we'll
be about 100 points ahead.

disadvantage, but I have all the faith
in the world in my tuner. He did be

Axeman in round two, so we're going to
try to get a little get back here.

They're about the same, though, aren't
they? Yeah, they're both about as. I

I need to win this third round, and it's
going to take a lot. But like I said,

enough, and it's proven. He's not in the

finals for no reason. So it's going to
be a good race, but the cool thing about

that is whoever wins is going to be on
my team, and the points go to me, and

that's another step closer to that $200
,000.

I get to race my team captain in the
final, so we'll leave the weekend being

where the air is terrible.

My guys have been telling me that Clay
has been kind of letting people leave on

him all day.

And when you got a fast car like he's
got, you can't get confident, you know,

because if he was the red light and
throw away a pass with a fast car, he's

a jackass. I wasn't going to guess on
him, but I was going to be foaming at

mouth when the green light come on. And
that's exactly what I did.

Killed the tree.

I looked over there and it was side by
side.

I'd pull him a little bit, he'd pull on
me a little bit. I pulled about three

quarters of a car on him, and that's
what I won the race by.

I mean, it was a badass race.

It was everything I expected.

I knew his car was fast because of who
he's been racing all day today.

We definitely run out of my car. My guys
have got to put new rods and pistons in

it. That's how hard we just ran my car.

I just want to thank Vandermeer.

This is my favorite track, like I said

I'm leading the grade eight by 20
points. I won three invitational wins.

So going into Las Vegas, Team Kai Kelly
has 110 -point advantage.

That's unbelievable.

I just can't say enough about my team.
They put in the work, and it shows.

It's going to take a lot of work from
these other teams to catch us. All I'm

going to say is it's safe to say that
Team Kai Kelly owns this mountain as far

as no prep teams is concerned.

And that's a wrap for Colorado, and the
story of the weekend has to be Kai Kelly

and his team.

Kai himself won the Grade 8 race and the
Invitational on Saturday.

Three of the four racers in the
semifinals were from his team, and they

built a lead of 110 points.

What a weekend for that team. But 110
points can be made up in one weekend.

Kai Kelly is not safe in first.

Next week, we're headed to Vegas.

At this point in the season, every round
could affect the championship.

Las Vegas, how y 'all doing today?

In the number one spot, there's only one
way to go, and that's down.

We've always said that we're just, you
know, a race swing away from being able

to take that number one spot.

Kai's team, you know, goes out first
round, and all of a sudden that all

changes. We need to go right here. This
is Vegas. We need to win this race.

But in no prep, nothing comes easy.

I think you can probably expect to see a
few upsets first round. This track is

really going to be tricky.

These drivers will have to bring their
absolute best.

Come prepared for

battle.

But it's no wonder every time he goes up
there, everybody boos.

Because we're 200 grand on the line.

This is the perfect opportunity to bust
his ass right here and go some rounds

and catch up on some of them points.
