Previously on The Voice...

(SINGERS VOCALISE)

I have never witnessed a performance

like that on The Voice.

Battles were fought...

Drumroll, please.

..and won.

The artist I'm going to take through.

Matthias.

Clay. Amber.

Bella. Tiffney.

Joseph. Sienna.

And while Melanie used her save...

I think he's worth it. He's really great.

I'm gonna do it.

..for Ronan...

There's an artist that I cannot get out of my head.

Just give me a second, because I'm...

Oh, what are you up to? Just give me a minute.

Please. Please. I want to find somebody.

Where's Hunter? Where's Hunter?

Things were a bit more complicated.

I made a big mistake.

I can't let him go home.

Is this allowed?

Apparently. It is now.

I have a phrase. Ask for forgiveness, not permission.

Thank you.

Tonight...

the final epic night of the Battles.

Absolutely killed it. I couldn't be happier.

The energy in the room was incredible.

This, I think, is the tightest battle we've seen the entire season.

Yeah. I don't like this. I don't like...

Eugh.

I can't let her go. I'm not letting her go.

But you don't have a save.

Ronan's broken the rules, it's my turn to break the rules.

No, no, no, no.

If she's breaking the rules, I'm breaking the rules.

What! Yeah. No way. No way.

Wait a minute.

What are you doing?

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Australia, this is it.

For one final night.

It is time to battle.

And up first, it's Team Richard.

(UPBEAT MUSIC)

Hi, Ally. Hi. How are you?

Good to see you.

Ally came out swinging in the Blind auditions.

# Anytime, any place

# Anywhere, any way

# Anytime, any place

# Anywhere, any time. #

Oh!

I was immediately impressed.

Are you ready to know who you're going to battle against?

I'm very excited to know. OK.

Come on in.

Rose!

(LAUGHTER)

Seeing Rose, my heart dropped into my stomach.

I should have known.

I know I was thinking...

# Carry me back, Carry me back, carry me back... #

Rose came out shredding in the Blinds.

# Been a long time, Been a long time

# Lonely, lonely, lonely, Lonely, lonely time. #

She had this incredible experience and wisdom

in her singing.

Well, it's pretty obvious why I paired you guys together,

but you really are sort of my rock off.

You're my battle of the rock stars right here.

So, are you ready to hear what song I've chosen for you?

Yeah. I think so.

I went not typical.

It's 'Gimme Shelter' by the Stones.

Oh, cool.

Such a huge, huge song.

And I reckon we're going to rock their socks off.

Two, three, four.

# War, children

I don't know if you have to do that whole high, but just...

# Shot away

# Shot away. #

I need both of them to step up.

And I feel like Ally is figuring out her part and how to shine in it.

And I need Rose to do the same thing,

or else she's going to get blown out of the water.

Don't be shy, Rose.

# It's just a shot away...

# It's just a shot away. #

OK, and then breakdown.

# Oh, children # Children... #

Sorry.

Rose. Why are you timid on this one? Why?

Oh, because I'm just... I just want to get the...

I want to sing it right.

This is the time to make every mistake.

I have to say.

I didn't even recognise Rose in this session.

# Oh, children. #

Sorry, I lost my note, what was my note?

The confidence, the swagger that was her

when she showed up to the Blinds was not there.

What's going on with you?

Because the confidence that I know you to have.

Oh, no. I'm good. I'm just.

It's just new, like, you know, the whole...

the whole experience.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah.

OK.

It was so nerve-wracking

because I'd never sung the song before,

and Richard Marx was standing in front of me,

so that was pretty nerve-wracking.

You just need to own it.

OK. Yeah.

You'll crush it, you will.

Confidence. Mm-hm.

I only got room for one of you,

so I got to see who wants it more.

To win this battle against Ally,

the biggest thing I think I'm going to have to do

is be myself and have belief in myself that I've got the goods.

I'm not ready to go home.

I know Richard only has room for one big rock voice on his team.

I think he's going to have a very,

very hard decision to make.

And we're not going to make it easy for him.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

# Oh, a storm is threatening

# My very life today

# If I don't get no shelter

# Oh, yeah, I'm gonna fade away

# War, children

# It's just a shot away

# War, children

# It's just a shot away

# Oh, see the fire is sweeping

# Our very street today

# It burns like a red coal carpet

# Mad bull lost your way

# War, children

# War, children

# It's just a shot away

# Hey yeah

# Oh

# The floods is threatening, My very life today

# Gimme, gimme some shelter

# Or I think I'm, I'm gonna fade away

# War, children

# It's just a shot away

# I tell you sister

# It's just a kiss away

# It's just a kiss away

# It's just a kiss away

# It's just a kiss away

# Kiss away

# Kiss away. #

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

What a battle!

You rocked our socks off.

Rose and Ally, everyone!

Oh, god. That was... Yeah.

That was such a shot in the arm that performance,

the energy in the room was incredible.

You both absolutely smashed it.

Thank you so much for that.

Thank you.

Look, Ally, I feel like there was some moments

where there were a couple of pitch issues,

particularly at the start,

I feel like, and that was probably nerves.

It's nerve-wracking stepping onto this stage.

That it is.

Oh.

I mean, Rose, I am obsessed with you.

That's awesome.

Thank you.

Who rocked your world, Melanie?

Oh, they both rocked my...

It's so great to see such big female voices up there.

You know, it was wonderful. I loved it.

(CHEERS)

Um, eugh, it is.

It's a tough one. I really love both of your voices.

I wish I could sing like that.

If I sang like that, I'd have no voice tomorrow.

Um, yeah.

I think for me, I'm potentially gonna lean towards Ally.

I loved when you were over here.

You were getting the crowd pumping as well.

So, I think that just gave the little edge for me.

Thank you.

Ronan.

Huge vocals there from both of the ladies tonight.

Who tipped the scale for you?

Rose definitely on vocals, but Ally on stage presence.

So, you know,

I don't think there's any doubt that, Rose,

you've got this, you know,

incredible voice that I know we have to have in this competition.

But if you were to go any further in this contest,

I will say you really need to believe

that this is where you're supposed to be

because at the moment, it doesn't feel like you believe it.

You have it. But I don't think you believe it.

(CHEERS)

Well, Richard, the decision is yours.

Yeah. I don't like this.

I don't... bleh!

I don't... I don't want to make this decision.

I know I have to. Um...

You know, I disagree with Kate and I disagree with Ronan

in two different ways.

I didn't hear any pitch issues for you.

Ally, I thought you crushed it from the time you walked out.

Um...

Thank you.

I thought... I thought both of you sang,

I didn't hear any pitch things, and I'm a kind of a pitch freak.

Well, let's watch the footage back.

Oh, wow.

We're going to watch the tape.

Um, I felt like you both had that down.

I didn't have a problem with that.

And I also noticed that, yes, Ally was performing.

She was more animated.

But then there was something about Rose

feeling like she didn't need to do any of that.

She was really embodying the lyric, and she was singing her ass off,

but she was saying those words so believably to me.

So, this is a long-winded way of saying

that I couldn't be more proud of both of you

and the performances that you both individually delivered.

Thank you.

But I'm thinking about this performance

and I'm thinking about going forward.

And for that reason...

the winner of this battle for me...

is Rose.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

You did it, Rose.

You're going through.

I think I might cry.

I'm not lost for words much, ask my husband.

Um. Is that right, Mick?

Thank you so, so much.

It really means everything.

And I'm so happy to have worked with Ally.

And it's just the beginning for us.

We're going to do some shows later down the track.

Oh, great. Awesome.

Thank you.

Ally, unfortunately, there are no saves left.

We've absolutely loved having you on the show.

Make some noise.

Raise the roof for our rock chick Ally.

Thank you.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Thank you. You're a star too, Ally.

Oh, thank you so much.

I'm so proud of you. You really, really did great.

Thank you. I appreciate it.

I hope we work together too.

I'd love to. Thank you.

Well done, Ally.

Every artist is fighting for their chance.

And the decisions have never been tougher.

Who will come out on top?

Stay tuned to find out.

# This is The Voice. #

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Oh, yes, I got it.

Check this out.

Selfie with the Spice Girl.

Yes. Hashtag goals.

Welcome back, everyone.

Now, we need to be ready because there are more sparks

to fly in The Voice Battles.

These next two singers bring style and sass to The Voice stage,

in what is sure to be a battle to remember.

One more, one more.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

# I'm gonna level up, level up Rise and shine now

This battle is between my diva with a big voice Callan

and my diamond in the rough, Sharon-Rose.

It's my battle of the singers with sass.

They both have diva potential.

Callan's a crazy thing.

I'm very nervous to be going up against him.

# Woo, child

# Tired of the bull, go on, Dust your shoulders off

# Keep it moving... #

Callan, four-chair turn.

Sounded like a superstar.

I'm so lucky to have him.

(SINGS)

# Yeah. #

What just happened?

(LAUGHS)

Take that in!

It's exciting to go up against Sharon-Rose.

She is a performer,

so I'm really excited to be able to share

that energy on stage with her.

# I don't wanna wait

# Take me where I haven't been before... #

Sharon-Rose.

She sat back in the timing of the song.

You know, she had real swag.

I was... I was captured immediately.

# Hey. #

This is the song I've chosen for this battle

is 'Positions' by Ariana Grande.

They've really got to nail this song.

It's a massive ask,

and I'm just hoping they can rise to the occasion.

It is a big song.

So many different dynamics. It's crazy. Whoo.

No-one really wants to tackle an Ariana Grande song,

so it's definitely a challenge.

It's a challenge that I'm ready to take.

I really want to go to the next round,

and the only way I can do

this is if I bring everything I have.

It's a tough battle

because it is such a sassy pop

diva moment.

I want to prove to Melanie C that I can do this.

I'm worried that the self-doubt will get in the way,

but I can't allow that to happen.

If I believe in myself on that stage,

I can win this battle.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

# Heaven sent you to me

# I'm just hoping

# I don't repeat history

# Boy, I'm tryna meet your mama On a Sunday

# Then make a lotta love

# On a Monday oh

# Never need no

# No-one else, babe

# 'Cause I'll be

# Switching the positions for you

# Cooking in the kitchen

# And I'm in the bedroom

# I'm in the Olympics

# Way I'm jumping through hoops Know my love infinite

# Nothing I wouldn't do

# That I won't do

# Switching for you

# This some shit That I usually don't do

# But for you, I kinda, kinda want to

# 'Cause you're down for me

# And I'm down too Yes, I'm down too

# Switching the positions For you

# This some shit That I usually don't do

# But for you, I kinda want to

# 'Cause you're down for me

# And I'm down too

# Switching the positions for you

# That I won't do

# Switching for you

# Yeah

(VOCALISES)

# Oh

# Yeah

# Switching the positions for you

# Cooking in the kitchen And I'm in the bedroom

# I'm in the Olympics

# Way I'm jumping Through hoops

# That I wouldn't do

# Switching for you. #

Whoo!

What a vibe, Callan and Sharon-Rose!

Switching it up for all of us.

That had everybody up out of their seats.

What's going through your mind, Melanie, about that performance?

I'm a little bit speechless. I...

Absolutely killed it.

I couldn't be happier and prouder.

So, so great.

Ah!

We'll get your decision shortly.

But, Richard, who won the battle for you?

I mean, it was OK.

(LAUGHTER)

Wow, it was so fun.

First of all, great song choice, Melanie.

I love that song, but the Ariana version,

as much as I love it,

it's one of my favourite Ariana Grande songs,

but her record is sort of just it's right here.

It's just chill.

The band and the arrangement was so powerful, so well played.

Yeah.

Thanks, guys. So much grit.

And you're moving, you're doing choreography.

You guys are doing all of this and you're keeping the pocket

right where it needs to be.

We're all just with you.

It was the dance, the vocal dance that you guys

were doing was fantastic.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Ronan, who are you backing for the win today?

Oh, I mean, that was so much fun.

That's possibly technically the most difficult song

we've seen at the battles in this competition.

You guys were great.

I love all your low-end Mary J Blige tones

that you've got at the bottom there.

They're so nice.

It's really, it's really gorgeous Sharon-Rose, yeah, I love that.

Callan, you know, when you see, like, a hose, you know, like a...

You turn a hose on full blast and it's kind of out of control,

and it's just you've got one of those voices that has...

It's just you turn it on and off it goes, and it's insane.

And it's like, whoa!

Great metaphor.

Whoa.

And it's... Yeah.

Just sometimes you just got to know how to dial it in and dial.

And honestly, when you get that right,

you are going to be...

one of the best things we've seen in this country.

You're so good.

Thank you.

Thank you heaps. Yeah.

So, I feel that Callan won this Battle.

Yeah.

Melanie, you've heard what your fellow coaches think.

But it all boils down to you now.

I'm so floored by both of you.

You came out and not only did you completely and utterly nail it.

You were in it.

And there was joy.

You know, you were enjoying it. Yeah.

And we were...

We were with you, like, every step of the way.

It was... It was so professional.

It was so...

Yeah, it was incredible.

I mean, it doesn't take away from the fact

I have to send somebody home at this point.

I have to take somebody along with me.

I'd love to take both of you.

I-I think you're wonderful people as well as incredible singers.

Um.

(CHEERS)

This is, I think, for me, in this experience,

the closest and the hardest decision I've ever had to make.

The person for me who won this battle...

is Callan.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Congratulations, Callan.

You're going through to the Knockouts.

I'm honestly...I'm so happy that-that you've let me carry on.

And I'm going to keep pushing myself to do more and be more.

Thank you.

We cannot wait to see what you do in the Knockouts.

Put your hands together for Callan. The winner of the battle.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Thank you so much. Absolutely.

Just 100% incredible.

So good.

Thank you, thank you.

Sharon-Rose, I have to tell you at this point

that the coaches have exhausted their saves.

And that means that they won't be able to keep you in the competition.

But what a joy it has been to listen to you.

I'm just so grateful.

Thank you so much, Melanie,

for taking the chance on me when you turned your chair.

I've had the most incredible time here,

and I'm very sad to leave it behind,

but I'm excited to see what the future has for me,

so thank you.

We're excited too, Sharon-Rose,

you have been an absolute joy.

Everybody, please say a big thank you to Sharon Rose.

Thank you.

Babes, that broke my heart.

You were so fantastic.

Oh, you were brilliant.

Take care.

No more saves.

That kind of fills me with fear

because I've become very attached to my own team.

And knowing you've got that save,

and potentially you could keep another of your own,

but that's gone now.

(SINGERS VOCALISE)

..as epic voices go head to head.

Love it. Aw.

This is the tightest battle we've seen the entire season.

And for our last remaining artists,

it's all or nothing.

It's so very, very difficult to see either of you go.

# This is The Voice. #

This battle is between

my two young balladeers,

Jayd and Marie.

How are you? Oh, my goodness.

(LAUGHS)

# Oh. #

(VOCALISING)

Jayd really blew me away

in her Blind audition.

She's such a gifted singer.

(VOCALISES)

When she sings softly, it's gorgeous.

It draws you in, but she's also capable

of going massive and really belting the crap out of her song.

# You could have been The greatest. #

Marie's performance in the Blinds was incredible.

I could feel all the emotions so vividly.

# You could have been The greatest. #

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

You both sing with so much emotion.

You both really drew me in from the very start.

And that's why I've paired you together,

'cause we've got quite an emotional song.

It's a ballad. It's a power ballad.

Alright.

The song you'll be singing for your battle

is 'Pink Pony Club' by Chappel Roan.

(SCREAM)

Yes! Yes.

So, you obviously hate that song.

Um... No.

No, we don't like it that much.

(LAUGHS)

Never heard it. Never heard it.

Wow. So, you guys are fans?

Huge fans.

So, I got it right pairing you two together, clearly.

And I got it right choosing this song.

And so, now, it's up to you guys to get it right.

# Pink pony club, I'm going to keep on dancing... #

They were so excited

when they heard what the song was gonna be.

I think maybe they didn't quite realise

how hard this song is to sing.

# Go...

# What have you done?

# You're a pink pony girl... #

They're both clearly very nervous.

# It's where I...

# I belong... #

Harmonising with Jayd was...

Yeah, a little bit messy.

A little bit all over the place.

# Pink Pony Club. #

Obviously, we have a lot of work to do on this.

Yes.

It felt so overwhelming to perform it for Kate especially

and have it fall a little bit flat.

Just take a deep breath.

Ground yourself.

You can do your nerve-neutralising activities backstage, right?

So, hold each other's forearms. Try it now.

Hold each other's forearms and just hum like "Mm."

# Mm. #

What you're doing is you're breathing together.

You're sensing each other breathe.

I got the girls to do something

that I often do before a performance with my band,

which is to be in physical contact with each other and to hum.

It's a way of calming down nerves,

and it's also a way of feeling

instantly connected to another person.

And you need that connection to sell a duet.

You're getting a firsthand taste now, of why the battles are so hard.

It is a bloodbath.

Like I'm literally going to be losing half my team.

So, I really want you to go away and work

as hard as you can on this song.

I am going to have to work really hard

because it's such a hard song, and especially with the harmonies.

I need to prove to Kate that I can win this battle,

and I can go all the way.

# You can try and stop me

# You can try and end me... #

I'd like to show Kate

that I'm the person she should take

through to the Knockouts with my performance,

I'd love for her to really see me shine on stage and pick me.

I really badly want to get through. It's essentially do or die.

Yes.

# I know you wanted me to stay

# But I can't ignore

# The crazy visions of me in LA

# And I heard That there's a special place

# Where boys and girls Can all be queens every single day

# I'm having wicked dreams Of leaving Tennessee

# Hearing Santa Monica I think it's calling me

# Won't make my mama proud

# It's gonna cause a scene

# She sees her baby girl

# I know she's gonna scream

# God, what have you done?

# You're a pink pony girl

# And you dance at the club, Oh, mama

# I'm just having fun

# On the stage in my heels

# It's where I belong down at the

# Pink Pony Club

# I'm gonna keep on dancing

# At the Pink Pony Club

# Pink Pony Club

# God, what have you done?

# You're a pink pony girl

# And you dance at the club, Oh, mama

# I'm just having fun

# On the stage in my heels

# It's where I...

# Belong at the Pink Pony Club

# I'm gonna keep on dancing At the Pink Pony Club

# I'm gonna keep on dancing At the Pink Pony Club

# Pink Pony Club. #

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Oh, yes, make some noise for Jayd and Marie.

Oh, gosh. I love that song.

Yeah.

What a performance.

Ronan, Pink Pony Club. Have you ever been there?

I would like to join the Pink Pony Club,

but I've never been in it. (LAUGHS)

It is one of the biggest hits of the year.

I love this song. Great song choice, Kate.

And, you know, the performance was just so good from both of you.

Jayd, you've got experience on stage.

You're a lot more comfortable.

Marie, you're a little bit more...

You know, you're searching for where you're meant to be to,

you know, find your place.

That comes with experience.

I get that, but your voice is outstanding.

It's beautiful. Thank you so much.

Ah, it's...

I turned for both of you guys

in the Blinds.

I wanted you both on my team.

Your voices are insane.

And you're getting better, which is what is supposed to happen.

It'd be terrible if you were getting worse, that's for sure.

But you're getting...

You're getting better. (LAUGHS)

Kate has a very, very difficult decision to make.

If I was making the decision myself, I...

Yeah, I...

Oh, my god, I would go with Jayd.

Yeah. Thank you so much.

Thank you. Yeah.

I think so. Thanks, Ronan.

Melanie, what's your take on that Battle?

Oh, what a Battle. You both came out like bang.

It was amazing.

I would go as far as to say

I preferred that version to the original.

Oh, god, thank you so much.

That is the hugest compliment.

Thank you.

So, Kate, it's decision time.

Look, I'm...

I'm just so proud of both of you.

I know how hard you worked on that song, and...

Oh, god, it's just...

(CHEERS)

Jayd, you have this beautiful, effortless way of singing.

You know, you really know your voice.

You inhabit your voice.

And, Marie, it wasn't a perfect, polished performance.

You're only 17, but you've got so much ahead of you.

And I'm really deeply interested in that potential.

So, I can see both. I mean, yeah.

(CHEERS)

The winner of this battle...

is...

Jayd.

You've done it, Jayd.

You're going to the Knockouts.

Congratulations.

Thank you. Thank you so much.

Well done. You smashed it.

Thank you.

Marie, I can see your disappointment.

This is only the beginning for you. Yeah.

Yeah. You're so good.

You're so good.

Unfortunately, there are no saves left,

so, your time on The Voice is sadly over.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

I'd like to thank Kate for giving me advice,

and I can't wait to see what happens for me in the future going ahead.

Put your hands together one more time for Marie, everyone.

Thank you, Marie.

That was honestly so great.

You should be so proud of it.

And Jayd, she's got eight years on you.

You know what I mean?

Where are you going to be in eight years? Right?

Hopefully somewhere.

You will be.

Thank you so much. Amazing.

Next up on The Voice,

Team Richard steps into the battle ring.

Don't go anywhere, Australia.

# This is The Voice. #

# We gonna level up now... #

This battle is between

my schoolteacher Jakamo

and a trio called Thr3pm.

Jakamo immediately,

I was taken with his vibrato.

# Begging, begging you

# Put your loving hand out baby... #

He's got such a natural gift of singing.

Like I could tell, there's depth in Jakamo's singing.

# I'm begging, begging you

# So, put your loving hand out, Darling. #

Four chair turn. That was badass.

Thr3pm, they really impressed me

in the Blinds with their blend and their harmonic gift.

# Lover, lover, lover, lover

Their pocket, their rhythm was really impressive

and they sounded like they were just having a blast.

# Going I've got to say. #

I paired Jakamo and Thr3pm together to push each other.

They're going to figure out what they're capable of,

and hopefully they'll all rise to the occasion.

The song Richard's given us

is 'What Goes Around, Comes Around' by Justin Timberlake.

Justin Timberlake he hits some big highs.

Trying to find our own voice

within that is going to be the real challenge.

I didn't think I was cool enough,

like the primary school teacher coming in here and singing JT,

it's a challenge that I'm really excited to take on.

The winner of this battle will prove their own sense of artistry.

They can't make this karaoke, and they have to prove to me

and the audience that they can be artists.

What we have that Jakamo

doesn't have is we've got three singers.

(LAUGHTER)

They're going to be

difficult to beat.

Thr3pm is what stands

between me and those knockouts.

And I'm ready to go out there

and sing like my life depends on it.

To win this battle, we need to just go out there

and have fun, enjoy it.

We come together and sing together.

It's like we got one beautiful voice.

So, Jack, we love you, but we're coming for you.

(LAUGHS)

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

It could go either way.

# Hey, girl

# Is he everything you wanted

# In a man?

# You know I gave you the world

# You had me In the palm of your hands oh

# So, why your love went away

# I just can't seem to understand

# Thought it was me and you, babe

# Me and you until the end

# But I guess I was wrong

# Don't want to think about it

# Don't want to talk about it

# I'm just so sick about it

# Can't believe it's ending this way

# Just so confused about it

# Feeling the blues about it

# I just can't do without ya

# But tell me, is it fair?

# Is this how we say goodbye?

# Should have known better When you came around

# That you were gonna make me cry.

# 'Cause I know That you're living a lie

# But that's OK, baby

# 'Cause in time you will find

# What goes around, Goes around, goes around

# Comes all the way back around

# Comes all the way back around

# Don't want to think about it

# Don't want to talk about it

# I'm just so sick about it

# So confused about it

# Feeling the blues about it

# I just can't do without you

# Tell me is this fair?

# Is this how we say goodbye?

# Comes all the way back around

# Comes all the way back around

# Yeah. #

That was cool.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Aw.

Love it.

Thr3pm and Jakamo!

Bringing some big Justin energy.

Even the dance moves were NSYNC.

(LAUGHTER)

Sonia.

Aha! Yeah. You got me. You got me, didn't you?

Before we go to the coaches,

just have a look over your shoulder at the shark fan cam.

Jakamo, your sister,

your sister has been in the audience cheering you on.

She looks like fun.

Yeah, she looks like she's having a great time there.

Kate. Who stole your heart?

Oh, god.

It's rough, I loved that, Richard, I loved that song.

And I know how much work goes into that.

It seems effortless, but all of those harmonies

have been meticulously planned, and there's all these intricate,

overlapping parts.

That's a lot of work.

It's really rough 'cause I think, Jakamo, you are so talented

and I loved your performance,

but there's just something irresistible about you guys, Thr3pm.

Cheers. Thank you so much.

Thank you, Kate.

Ronan, are you familiar with the concept of the boy band?

What is it exactly? How does it work?

It's a group of young boys get together.

OK. Right.

OK.

Kate used the word effortless, and I think it felt different.

It felt more like effort to me.

It felt like there was a lot of effort.

And it's supposed to look effortless.

It's so bloody hard to be in a band.

All the stars have to align, you know, you have to pay attention.

And, you know, Melanie knows this as well.

You got to pay attention to where everybody else is on stage,

what they're doing.

Then you're thinking about your vocals.

You're thinking about what he's singing,

what I should be singing.

And there's so many different elements,

and there was not many of those moments in that performance

where all of the stars were aligning.

Jakamo, you were on your own against the guys

and you were shining brighter than the three of them together.

So, is there a reason why they didn't do...

the guys didn't do a dance routine or any sort of boyband moment?

Well kind of did they kind of did a little thing?

They moved back and moved forward.

But you know, like, I'll never forget we were on.

We had the opportunity to go on, on...

on 'Top of the Pops'.

Remember that show? Yeah.

I know we went and it was our very first single.

It was called 'Love Me For A Reason'.

I'm in the dressing room upstairs.

We came up with this simple little hand movement

and it was what people talked about.

Unfortunately not the vocals, but anyway,

it's what people talked about more so.

But that hand movement.

But you know what?

Yeah. It ain't easy, Sonia.

It ain't easy. (LAUGHS)

Meanwhile I was just doing backflips on 'Top of the Pops'.

Yeah, exactly.

(LAUGHS)

Exactly.

But, you know...

It was.

And I did Top of the Pops.

And you know what I had to do?

What did you do? I had to sing well.

Oh, my god. God forbid.

So, yeah, I think...

Think about small things like that, guys.

(CHEERS)

Richard, some insights there for you.

Yeah.

I don't disagree with any of the criticism levelled

by my fellow coaches.

What sold me on the, on your performance

in the Blinds was your blend

and your harmonies were locked for me.

And I will say right now, that one thing I agree with

is that the harmonies in this performance

were not as tight as I wanted them to be.

And what you sold me on in the Blinds.

Jakamo, you,

you're this sweet schoolteacher, dude.

And I deliberately wanted to hear you challenged

because we know you can kind of sing the rockier stuff.

And I know that this was hard for you.

You worked so hard.

I really, really admired your tenacity.

So, my decision comes down to...

who I really believe can continue successfully in the show.

And I hate to say it,

but it's not that difficult a decision for me.

It's Jakamo.

Thank you.

You've won the battle.

Sorry, it's still hitting me. Sorry.

I'm still trying to process. Were you expecting that?

No.

Not these three...

I've got to know them quite well.

They're like not only fantastic artists,

but fantastic people.

So, that was a shock. But thank you so much.

I really appreciate it.

You know, my favourite thing...

My favourite thing is at the end, that group hug made me so happy.

Made me so happy to see.

We're looking forward to seeing you

in the next round Jakamo.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Amazing, guys.

We've loved having you on the show. Thank you so much.

Thank you, Thr3pm.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Thank you, guys.

Cheers, guys, thank you, Richard.

What was the move, Ronan?

Can you show me the moves? Ah. OK.

Show us the hand gestures, Ronan.

The hand... The hand what?

The hand gesture.

Ah, so...

Ahem.

What? Whoa.

Wow.

(CHEERS)

Oh, I was not expecting that.

I mean...

Ballet.

Quite beautiful. Seriously? Right?

Did you choreograph that yourself?

Absolutely not.

But I really appreciated the effort you just put into that.

It was lot. It was.

That's the most I've moved in 20 years.

(LAUGHTER)

Coming up, the final Battles...

Neither of you, don't be polite.

This is a battle.

Each of them is really got to show something special.

..and a jaw-dropping twist...

Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait.

..no-one saw coming.

Wait, wait, wait a minute.

This is crazy.

# This is The Voice. #

Hey there.

Hello!

Nice to see you.

Nice to see you.

You're looking fab.

Thank you very much.

This battle is between

Olivia and Milly.

Here she comes. Hey!

Hi. Hey!

Oh, my goodness.

Hey, Milly. How are you?

Come on in.

# The keeper of the flames... #

Olivia. Her Blind audition was mesmerising.

# I am, you are

# We are Australia. #

Her performance really got me.

It moved me. And I love when music moves people.

(SINGING IN WIRADJURI)

She got a standing ovation.

I had to have her.

# Just like the one we know

# Sings the songs sounds Like she's singing... #

Milly has never performed on a stage like that before.

This is the first time she's done anything like this.

So, you're probably wondering

what song you're going to be singing.

Yes.

Are you ready? We're ready.

I hope so. Yep.

'Unwritten' by Natasha Bedingfield.

Oh, my god. Yes.

Yes? Ah, yes, yes, yes!

Yes! I love her.

I love that reaction.

I sang this song with Natasha, and I know how hard it is.

She has this soaring female vocal,

but, you know, it's all about putting your stamp on it,

making it your own.

# I am unwritten

# Can't read my mind

# I'm undefined. #

Olivia struggled to get pitch.

It's a bit nerve-wracking as a coach.

# Live your life With arms wide open

# Today is...

# Where your book begins

# The rest is still unwritten. #

Oh.

Ha-ha.

Alright. Scary.

How do you think that went?

Um, I think there's stuff to work on, for sure.

(LAUGHS) Stuff to work on.

Olivia, we got to work on your pitch just a little bit.

Right you were flat right at the beginning.

Yep.

You're incredibly exposed at the start of the song.

Yep.

The few moments that I find you're struggling

are those low notes...

Yes. ..the start of those lines.

That's always my case.

I can even see you you're dropping your chin

because you think it's better to go down there,

but it's not.

The lower notes,

they've always been a struggle for me.

I really like singing high,

so, the low notes would be my biggest struggle.

I think if you smile, it will help.

I know this sounds ridiculous,

but obviously the shape of your mouth,

it changes the sound as it travels out.

Yeah.

And like, I'm just a bit unsure

of when to take it and make it your own.

Straight away?

Yeah, I want you to make it your own always.

Yeah.

You're a solo singer. That's who you are.

This is not a group.

Yeah. This is a Battle.

Those moments on your own...

Need to be strong.

..you really, it needs to be strong.

Yeah. So, don't back off. Don't do that.

My worry for Milly

is because she doesn't have a lot of experience,

she'll be like a rabbit in the headlights.

She's going to be out on that stage

if she thinks about how many million people

are watching down the lens, it could be scary.

What I do know about is good singing,

and you guys both can do that, right?

Yup. You can deliver.

Keep practising.

Channel those nerves in a positive way.

Yes. Use them.

It's electricity. Yeah. For sure.

Really bring that into the performance.

It's beautiful. Yes.

What I have to really work on is the pitch.

Working on those first three lines of the song, they are crucial.

It's definitely a challenge for me, but I'm grateful

that Ronan has set me that challenge.

It would mean the world to me

to win this battle.

This battle could definitely be

a make-or-break moment for my future in music.

It's so important to make this song my own

and outshine Olivia because it's my last chance.

I just feel a little out of my league.

But in saying that,

I love an underdog,

so, I'm ready to...ready to

show her up in the ring.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

# I am unwritten

# Can't read my mind

# I'm undefined.

# I'm just beginning

# The pen's in my hand

# Ending unplanned

# Staring at the blank page Before you

# Open up the dirty window

# Let the sun illuminate the words That you could not find

# Reaching for something In the distance

# So close You can almost taste it... #

Nice. # Release your inhibitions

# Feel the rain on your skin

# No-one else can feel it for you

# Only you can let it in

# No-one else, no-one else

# Can speak the words On your lips

# Live your life with arms wide open

# Today is where your book begins

# The rest is still unwritten

# I'm staring

# At the blank page before you

# Open up the dirty window

# Let the sun illuminate the words That you could not find

# Reaching for something In the distance

# So close you can almost taste it

# Release your inhibitions

# Feel the rain on your skin

# Only you can let it in

# No-one else, no-one else

# Can speak the words on your lips

# Live your life with arms wide open

# Today is where your book begins

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Alright.

Milly and Olivia!

OK.

Ronan, two incredible singers there.

Yeah. Are you proud of them tonight?

Yeah, I am, I am proud.

It wasn't their best, so, a little bit disappointed, but,

I understand it's an incredibly intimidating stage to be on.

I agree with Ronan that this performance

didn't kill me.

Olivia, you blew me away in the Blinds.

It was so memorable and powerful. And it was you.

It was just like we were witnessing you.

We were getting to know you in that performance.

And this performance, I felt like you were forced to sing a pop song.

It really didn't I feel work for you.

I still really admired watching you go for it.

That was really, really inspiring.

Thank you.

Milly, I felt that your vocal performance

throughout was really good.

You didn't deliver as a performer quite the way I felt Olivia did,

but then I watched you kind of get more confident as you went.

And by the end of it, I thought,

she's really got a shot at staying in this.

Thank you.

God, it's tough.

I think maybe nerves got the better of you slightly,

but there's nowhere to hide in that song.

You bend one note slightly the wrong way,

and we're all going to hear it.

I think Olivia, there were a few moments

where you had some pitch issues.

Maybe this wasn't exactly the right song for you,

and I actually think you need to go away and write songs yourself.

Well, we have to remember in this show is, as an artist,

you have to be diverse.

You have to be able to sing different things, whether it's,

you know, a rock song, a duet with Bryan Adams

or an operatic song or something, you know?

In this show, you have to be able to.

In real life, Olivia is going to go away,

find her niche and do one thing exceptionally.

Yeah, but you have to be able to collaborate with other artists

and be able to, you know...

Yeah, but you don't have to be able to sing a song

that doesn't suit you if you don't want to.

I mean, all songs suit you, really.

It's just how you deliver them.

I mean, you know, as you know that you can sing...

you can sing anything, and you make it sound good.

No, I can't, I absolutely cannot.

Of course, you do. Of course, you do.

It's-it's you know, it's how you approach it and how you know...

what you do to it as an artist, what you create.

Olivia, how do you feel about the performance?

Um, I do also think that some parts were pitchy.

Yeah.

Obviously, nerves have a massive role in that,

but as a whole, I'm, number one,

proud of myself for being here in the first place.

Yes, so, you should, yes.

But, Olivia,

I would just like to pull it back a little bit.

You know, all of this criticism and anything everybody.

Well, you know, we're rooting for you both.

Hm.

You made it through the Blinds, four-chair turns.

You deserve to be here.

It's just we're getting critical now.

We do need a decision.

Who will you take through to the knockouts, Ronan?

I've got to go with my gut

and on this battle and this performance.

And the person that won this battle...

was Milly.

Well done!

Well done. Good job.

Good job, well done.

Give it up for Milly, everyone.

Thank you.

Good job.

Thanks, guys.

Good job.

Olivia, it is so tough to have to say this,

but the coaches have already used all of their saves.

Which means your time in the competition ends here.

Please, everybody, put your hands together

one more time for Olivia.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

This ain't the end for you.

Hey, you've got a long road ahead of you.

Never, never. Well done. Thank you.

Next up on The Voice,

Team Melanie steps into the battle ring.

Don't go anywhere, Australia.

# This is The Voice. #

Hey, Gemma. Come on in. Oh, my gosh, hi.

This battle is between

my classical crossover singer,

Gemma...

Ah! Yay!

..and my guitar

playing pop star Cassie.

# You can kiss

# A hundred boys in bars

# Shoot another shot

# Try and stop the feeling. #

Cassie was a moment in the Blinds

where everybody turned.

Everybody wanted her. She was so impressive.

She gave a beautiful performance.

And she was playing guitar. And we fought hard.

But I'm so happy she ended up on Team Melanie C.

# Oh, my brother, oh... #

Whoo, yeah!

I was determined to have Gemma on my team.

There was some real drama

and magical moments in her performance,

so, I had to use my black on Kate.

Kate's not gonna like me for this,

but I'm gonna have to block her.

No!

I can't believe you did that.

So, how do you feel about being paired together?

I mean, you're amazing. You're amazing.

I'm like, this is gonna be so cool, but, like, so tough, you know?

Yeah, I agree.

I'm definitely feeling a bit of pressure.

Cassie is such an incredible singer.

My main reason, I think, for putting you guys together

'cause I feel like you're my pop stars.

And I hope that's a compliment to you.

Because I... I love you.

I hope this is a compliment coming from a pop star.

Yeah.

You know what, music's so funny, isn't it?

Because when I started in music, it was very genre based.

It's like if someone said, "Oh, you're a pop artist..."

I think I went through a phase of going,

"I'm not just pop," you know?

But pop is like, it's popular.

That's what we want to be, right?

The Beatles were pop.

Yeah. Yeah. Exactly.

I'm not complaining about that. Right.

Enough of me banging on.

The song is 'Messy' by Lola Young.

I love hat song.

Oh, my god, that's gonna be fun.

Yeah. Yeah.

You feeling good about that?

Yeah. Yeah. That's cool.

Excellent.

I'm actually...

I'm fizzed, I'm fizzed about that song.

It's such a good song. And it's got so much attitude.

Like two pop girlies doing a pop song.

# And I'm too clever

# And then I'm too stupid, dumb

# You hate it When I cry

# Unless it's That time of the month.

# And I'm too perfect

# I could be for you

No, you're fine, that's OK.

# And damn love. #

This is crazy, man. You're amazing.

No, I'm just trying to focus when you're doing amazing stuff.

I'm like, "You've got to keep this."

These artists, they're both so lovely.

There was no treading on each other's toes.

They were being super respectful of each other, and that's wonderful.

And as an artist, that's what you want.

But this is a Battle. Somebody's got to win.

So, yeah, I was trying to like stay underneath you.

But then I was also listening to you and...

You're so fine. What you're doing was amazing.

Right. Neither of you, don't be polite.

You know, what you're doing is beautiful,

and you're being very respectful of each other.

But this is a Battle. You know?

It's really lovely to be able to listen as well as shine.

Yeah.

This is the battle of my pop stars.

Each of them has really got to show something special

to be the one who's going to go through.

The biggest concern I have with this battle

is knowing Cassie will be right

next to me on stage.

She's such a strong performer.

She's got great talent, great ability.

I just know I need to bring my A-game.

It's going to be a serious fight.

It's a tough battle

because you have to go against

a really good singer out there.

That's the way this competition works,

and that's always

gonna be difficult.

There can only be

one winner of this battle, so...

And I'm gonna just give it my absolute everything out there.

(CHEERS)

Whoo!

#You know I'm impatient

# So, why would you

# Leave me waiting

# Outside the station

# When it was like

# Minus four degrees?

# And I...

# And I get what you're saying

# I just really

# Don't wanna hear it right now,

# Can you shut up

# For like once in your life?

# Listen to me

# I took your nice words of advice

# About how you think I'm gonna die lucky if I turn 33.

# OK, so, yeah, I smoke like a chimney

# I'm not skinny

# And I pull a Britney Every other week

# But cut me some slack

# Who do you want me to be?

# You told me, "Get a job"

# And I'm too perfect

# Till I open my big mouth

# I want to be me

# And is that not allowed?

# It's taking you ages

# I'm not asking for pages

# But a text would be nice

# And don't say hello

# 'Cause I got high again

# And forgot to fold my clothes

# 'Cause I'm too messy

# And then I'm just too damn clean

# You told me, "Get a job"

# And I'm too perfect

# Till I open my big mouth

# I want to be me

# Is that not allowed?

# And I'm too clever

# And then I'm too stupid, dumb

# You hate it when I cry

# Unless it's that time of the month

# And I'm too perfect

# And you hate the whole damn lot

# And you hate the whole damn lot

# Hate the whole damn lot. #

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Cassie and Gemma.

Oh, my goodness, you guys.

What an incredible song choice, Melanie.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

This, I think, is the tightest battle

we've seen the entire season

because you each have different strengths.

Cassie, I love your lower register

and how rhythmically punchy and focussed you are.

Whereas Gemma, you don't have that as much as Cassie does,

but you have this gorgeous legato,

which means like a smoothness in your phrasing.

It's gorgeous.

And you sing in an Australian accent,

which I think is bloody brilliant.

Please keep doing that.

Thank you.

So, I just...

I find it really, really hard to choose.

I'm gonna go Gemma by a half of a hair by a millimetre.

A whisker.

Thank you, Kate.

Ronan, what are your thoughts?

Great song choice.

I think this is one of the perfect battle songs.

You both had your moments to shine

and you both allowed the other to shine.

I think it's going to be incredibly difficult

for Mel to pick.

I don't know how she does it. Your voices for me are very equal.

You know, you're both as good as each other.

Yeah.

Thank you, Ronan.

Wow, Melanie, it's a big call that you have to make.

And you know that there are no saves left.

So, one of these amazing artists will have to leave us tonight.

Who will you be taking through to the Knockouts?

OK, I have to speak about both of these girls.

Absolutely incredible

the performance that they've put on tonight.

(CHEERS)

What makes this really hard is the growth

that Gemma has had

from singing around the piano to getting up on that stage.

It's a completely different person,

I think, from who everybody saw in the Blinds.

You know, I don't know if you knew you had that in you.

You know, that discipline has brought you to this point.

You are both wonderful artists. You're so very different.

But you were so on a level pegging in that performance.

Um...

(CHEERS)

It's so very, very difficult to see either of you go.

But for me, moving forward in this competition,

I'm going to take...

Cassie.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Congratulations, Cassie.

You were amazing.

Amazing.

Thank you. Thank you so much.

Gemma and I have become very good friends,

so, it's a little bit of a tough, tough one,

but I'm super, super stoked.

So, thank you guys so much.

Well, Cassie, we will see you at the Knockouts.

Well done, Cassie.

Thank you. You did so great.

Well done, well done.

And I'm so sorry, Gemma,

to say that the coaches have already used their saves

which means your time on The Voice ends here.

Is there anything that you would like to say?

Um, I just want to thank Melanie so much.

It's been such a dream being here. So, thank you so much.

Well done.

Put your hands together for Gemma everyone.

Well done.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Oh, oh, wait, wait, wait, wait.

Hang on. Wait a minute.

No, no. You've used your save.

Hang on. I can't let her go.

I'm not letting her go.

But you don't have a save.

Ronan's broken the rules.

You're out of saves.

It's my turn to break the rules.

Hang on. No, no, no, no.

If she's breaking the rules, I'm breaking the rules.

Go ahead.

No way, no way.

Yeah, why not?

This is crazy.

Wait, wait, wait a minute.

# This is The Voice. #

Oh! Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait.

Hang on. Wait a minute.

No, no. You've used your save.

Hang on. I can't let her go.

I'm not letting her go. But you don't have a save.

Ronan's broken the rules.

You're out of saves.

It's my turn to break the rules.

If she... No, no, no, no.

If she's breaking the rules, I'm breaking the rules.

Go ahead.

No way! No way.

Surely this is a joke.

Why not? Why not?

Wait, wait, wait a minute.

You know how much time I spent on the plane coming down here

to learn the rules for this show?

Fine.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Yeah.

Why not?

Oh, my god.

You guys...

You guys are officially off the rails.

I will completely explain myself.

This is all down to how hard Gemma's worked

and how much she's grown.

And I just cannot let her go.

I'm going to get my wrist slapped.

I don't care. I want to fight for Gemma.

I want you to remain on Team Melanie.

We've come so far, we've got so much further to go.

Whoa! Oh, my gosh.

I just need to clarify.

So, you've all agreed, I guess, that it's OK to break this rule.

We're OK with that.

Whoever wins this pitch will go into the next round

with one extra team member.

Hm.

So, the coaches will pitch,

and you get to decide which team.

OK.

Well, I just want to say, I just want to say,

I just wanted to let you know, Gemma,

that it is OK to not go with your previous coach

because actually two of Ronan's artists

have actually left his team and gone to Richard and I.

So, just letting you know, that's perfectly fine to do that.

Yeah.

I also want to let you know that I chose you to go

through from the beginning.

And I...

And I've always really admired and respected your craft.

I think you're an exceptional, exceptional singer.

And I imagine what you could do with me as your coach.

Yes.

So, how about Ronan?

You know, I probably have the most amount of experience

as a coach on The Voice internationally.

I've done this a lot.

I also have a mate who has a Grammy.

But don't listen to him.

I've already delivered it now,

so, there's no point in you saying it.

So, it's fine.

You took my Grammy? No.

You took my Grammy pitch from me.

Just borrowing it for a minute.

Gemma, you've just got this raw, incredible talent.

This ability. You really do.

I think you should come to Team Ronan.

I think we'd have a lot of fun. I've got amazing artists on my team.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Well, I thought I had my pitch ready.

I was going to use the Grammy.

Yeah. All kidding aside.

Look, I think you're really, really great singer,

and I loved your performance.

You really do have everything it takes to go, to go all the way.

And I think that I would be a really good coach for you,

I really do.

I have to be honest, when I went rogue,

Um...I wasn't expecting this.

Um, so, I feel like I've got to potentially fight for my life here

because, Gemma, I don't want to let you go.

And I feel like we've come so far.

We do have a connection.

And I honestly never imagined you two

to get to where you've got to tonight, and I just...

I don't know whether that would have happened with anybody else,

so, I'm excited to see how much further we can take that.

It's over to you.

You get to decide who you would like to go with.

I just want to say I appreciate all of you for this.

Like, blew my mind.

Um, O-M-G.

But I think to keep going in this competition...

I'm going to stick with Team Melanie.

Yeah, she is.

Go on, give her a hug.

Gemma is staying on Team Melanie.

Thank you so much. Thank you.

Well done. Thank you.

Well done. Well done, Gemma.

Thank you.

Well done. Thank you.

I understand. That was a scary moment.

It was the right thing to do.

And just like that,

the Battle's come to an unforgettable end.

But the competition is only just getting started.

Next up, the Knockouts.

Who will rise to the occasion and who will fall?

The road to victory is only getting tougher.

And you won't want to miss a second of it.

See you next time.

Until then, good night, Australia.

# This is The Voice. #

Next time on The Voice...

The Knockouts are here.

They've made it

through the Blinds and the Battles.

This is the final test

before the semi-finals.

We're putting our artists

up against each other

in groups of three.

The weakest performer

will be knocked out.

These guys, they're so good.

These guys are insane.

Bella. She can sing anything.

We've got some competition here.

(LAUGHS) Damn.

Each group is given a theme.

Glastonbury Music Festival. Yes.

Ha-ha!

'70s. '80s. '90s.

I consider you three my rockers.

Let the Knockout...

begin.

(SINGERS VOCALISE)

That was

one of the best performances

we've seen in the entire show.

Any of the great divas

would have been happy

with that performance.

This is the toughest knockout

we've seen.

There's no-one who I would

want to leave behind at this point.

The artists

I'll be taking through are...

Artists to win their Knockouts...

progress to the Showdown...

where they will sing for a spot

in the Semifinal.

I can only take the top two artists

through to the Semifinals.
