but I'm also a giant fan of his solo records.

Some of my first things I ever learned in guitar lessons.

I don't know if he was picked for me,

but it felt like he was picked for me.

Like, I'm the only guy playing electric guitar and singing.

This is the epitome of what a Mega Mentor could be.

What are you singing for us today and why did you pick it?

I'm singing "Hurricane" by Band of Heathens.

Okay. It's got that bluesy

Southern rock soul thing that I'm into. Yeah.

Also, there's a guy in the lyrics,

the old man down in the corner.

He's just a stubborn older guy.

He doesn't listen to anybody and just sees

all the danger signs and keeps going.

That's kind of how I feel about doing music as a career.

Life as a full-time musician is hard.

I got to gig full time,

but every time I walk off the stage,

the first people that pop in my head are my wife and my kid

and why I'm making these sacrifices.

Yeah!

"Hurricane" is about resilience.

There's no plan B at all. This is what I'm doing.

No steals, no saves.

It is a little harder knowing there is no safety net,

but hopefully I can stick the landing anyway.

My siblings were the ones that came for my blind audition.

They have supported me like no other.
