This whole moment, being here

makes me feel like I'm one step closer to my dreams.

I don't come from a musical family.

My mom was a school teacher for 30 years,

but I had this innate burning desire to perform.

I want to take a top-10 hit from 2008

and bring it into 2025.

I want people to feel like, "Wow,

I love the refreshing spin that he put on it."

Ryan: There's a lot about Conrad that's intimidating to me.

He can riff and run circles around me.

I have been sober from alcohol since 2021.

It's crazy seeing you here,

because to celebrate my four years of sobriety,

I went to Vegas and I saw you at The Sphere back in April.

I have 31 years sober. 31.

That's amazing. So I'm proud of you.

And isn't it better?

I've been given a life beyond anything I could imagine.

I feel like this is a great song to showcase my range.

It's powerful, it's heavy, and I love that it's rock and roll.

when I leave for tour, and it means a lot to me

because my heart kind of aches a lot of the time

when I'm out there.

Marty's voice sounds like it comes from pain,

like, in a really good way.

I felt you finding your pocket at the beginning.

Ss one of the things that I do

to do that is doing some breathing

before I go on, to actually lower my heart rate.

You feel everything just calm and settle

I love an aggressive groove, sometimes almost too much,

but that's what gets me into the pocket.

My plan is when everything kind of shoots up,

Musically, on those first verses, man,

when we're nervous, the bottom end will deceive us.

And you're sitting right there in that part of your voice,

where it's low enough that those runs are tough.

Pick some stuff to let you sing a little bit higher,

'cause the second you move up a little bit in the notes,

it's like the clarity of your voice comes through. Okay.

Michael: You never want to see a talented person go home.

And I knew this wasn't a great move for me,

but at the same time,

putting two of my favorite vocalists ever

up against each other just feels like an opportunity

for me to make a choice from the heart.
