Ducati left us a nice gift. She peed in
all of those shoes.

We spent the last several years
remodeling this house into our dream

And immediately the peeing started and
the remodel came to a stop.

It's just a little pee.

The soap is covered in plastic. It's not
what I had envisioned when we started

this project.

I tear those scents out of magazines and
stuff them into pillows. That way,

whenever Ducati would jump up there, she
would smell that scent and off she

would go.

This isn't working.

If it comes down to it, Ducati and I
will go and live in Texas.

I'm Jackson Galaxy. I'm a musician by
night and a cat behaviorist by day.

I've met cats with all kinds of
problems.

But I've never met one I couldn't help.

analyzing their behaviors and retraining

When relationships are at an end, I

problems.

My cat, Chloe, is very aggressive.

And we think what she is causing Ketone,
her cat, to do for the past six months

is to do her business on the ground in
the bedroom. So Chloe has been banished

to the back of the house. Oh, no.

Ketone has the front of the house. They
don't get along.

Honestly, I'm afraid one of them's got
to go, and I don't want to get rid of

Chloe. Why is Ketone the one who's going
to leave the house and not Chloe?

Chloe's not the one pooping outside the
box.

Chloe's the one causing the pooping

But that puts you in the unenviable
position of the person who will get rid

their cat.

Julie's willing to rehome her cat in
order to keep peace in the house, but

worried about the stress that's going to
put on their relationship.

There's a lot riding on this, but the
fact that Keytone's pooping outside her

litter box tells me that the problems in
this house are pretty severe.

Okay, who belongs to this part of the

Well, this is ketones area.

Okay, so one thing I'm not seeing is
anything that says a cat lives here. The

way that cats define their world is by
what they own.

When there's nothing here to own, what?

They own us.

They own you, but they don't own stuff.

Here's the thing. If cats don't have
anything to call their own, they're

to strike out at things inappropriately.

They have to have territory.

I'm psyched to meet her right off the
bat. If you guys don't mind, can you

us alone for a couple minutes? Sure. All

holler, okay? I hope she doesn't hurt
Jackson.

But again, he's used to difficult cats.

Chloe is definitely violent, but I'm
noticing she's even more violent when I

touch her backside, and that worries me
because it seems like she could be in

pain.

Now that Chloe's completely worked up, I
need to see if I can get her to eat and

not attack. That will tell me that her
violence is behavioral. That's something

I can work with. If she doesn't eat,
well, then we're in trouble.

Yep. How are you feeling right now,
knowing that Chloe's coming in here with

her? Well, she's a bully. The bully is

holding Chloe, she looked awfully

uncomfortable. Now it occurs to me.

But yes, she's older, she's probably
arthritic, and every time you touch her

back end, she's going to say, ow.

And how's she going to say ow? She's
going to bite you. She's going to swipe

you, and she's going to hiss. And I
think that that's what we're seeing. Put

down next to you.

Ooh, girlfriend.

Chloe is freaking out. She's growling.
She's swiping at Jordan. I look over at

Ketone, and this cat is starting to
panic.

I actually think that one of Ketone's
biggest problems is Julie, because Julie

is keeping her in the role of being the
victim. As long as she keeps her in that

position, Ketone will keep acting the
part. Now, I realize that the humans

more homework to do than the cats, so it
was time to give them that homework.

Julie, one thing that disturbs me is
that you're afraid of Chloe.

I can't have it. So play with her. Give
her those little treats.

allow her to explore a relationship with
you based on something that's actually

mutually beneficial.

I want Julie to show Chloe that she can
be the source of good things, like play

and food and not fear.

And if Ketone sees that Julie is not
afraid of Chloe, I believe Ketone will

Cats get to rub up against these things.
They get to scratch on these things.

Cats mark territories by rubbing their
scent glands onto things. So Jordan and

Julie need to put the scent soakers
throughout the house.

as well as institute an open -door
policy. And that way, there'll be no

territory or Ketone's territory.

These cats will quickly get used to each
other's scent and share territory

together. I firmly believe that these
cats will not spend their lives beating

each other.

The only way for the cats to do this is
by instituting an open -door policy.

Okay? So no more. Good. No more closing
doors.

Last thing, my feeling is that Chloe has
arthritis.

My friend, Dr. Mahaney, I'm going to
send him over here. He's a holistic vet,

and he's going to do a workup on her,
but I think it's going to be a really

thing for her. It's not uncommon for
cats of any breed to develop arthritis

they get older. Since Chloe's an 11
-year -old cat, this would make sense,

it would also explain some of her
aggression.

When cats are in pain... they can be
much more violent. And I will see you in

couple weeks, okay? Okay. We have done
everything we can to try to stop this,

and we're out of ideas. And I'm afraid
that one of the cats might have to go,

and I'm not getting rid of Chloe.

All right, I'm back from my second visit
with Jordan, Julie, and their cats

Chloe and Keto.

Now, the last time I was here, we had
Jordan's cat, Chloe, bullying Ketone so

badly that she resorted to hiding in the
bedroom. It was causing her so much

stress that she was pooping outside her
box. Now, Chloe was even bullying the

humans so badly.

Ow! God!

That Julie was afraid to go near her.
And I don't blame her. She even got a

piece of me.

Now, I got a chance to look at the video
homework, and I saw that they laid out

all the scent stokers which were
supposed to encourage Ketone to come out

hiding and feel safe.

We finished catapultation.

Hello. I also saw that Dr. Mahaney made
a house call to see if Chloe did in fact

have arthritis, which is why I thought
she was lashing out unexpectedly.

From the looks of it, she's not very
happy to see him.

All I'm hoping for now is that we get
Chloe to chill out and ketone's

up. Otherwise, Julie's going to feel
like she has no choice but to rehome her

because Jordan refuses to give up Chloe.

build her confidence by widening her

laying out all the scent soakers.

Because of this, Ketone's confidence is
up. She doesn't feel the need to poop

outside her box anymore.

Last time I was here, I asked you guys
to have a visit with Dr. Mahaney to see

if she was actually arthritic. What was
the diagnosis?

She has arthritis.

Okay. Dr. Mahaney's visit was really
helpful in also with the treatment.

Afterwards, she seemed to really feel a
lot better. It seems like she's

accepting our treatment.

Now I'm carrying her more like a
football.

And she's like, wow.

And she calmed down.

Sure enough, it is arthritis. He did
cold laser acupuncture on her, which is

pretty revolutionary. And as long as
that cat continues Dr.

Mahaney's treatment, Chloe will not need
to be medicated. And what's even better

is she's not swiping at Jordan anymore.

Since the last time I was here, have
there been any attacks?

Chloe is still acting like the den in
the back is her territory.

And she's guarding that territory?

She is. And there was one instance where
she just...

Took off and attacked Ketone and chased
her out. Just when I was getting excited

because Ketone is now exploring the
entire house and she's feeling

there's the backside of that. Chloe's
staying back in the den and guarding it

from Ketone. She won't come out. And now
we've got a brand new problem on our

hands. Chloe didn't start acting this
way until Ketone came along.

So if things don't improve, I think
we're going to have to rehome Ketone.

That's not okay with me. It's not fair
that she has to leave.

Okay. You know, you guys have been great
in terms of stepping away from the

ledge on this one, but obviously there's
still a ledge.

Well, I will admit that I haven't been
playing with Chloe as much. Why not?

You're scared of Chloe.

Julie and Jordan are giving me great
information, but I'm not liking the fact

that Chloe is staying back in the den
and guarding it from ketone. I'm also

liking that Julie is still fearful of
Chloe.

So I want to get up and visit Chloe in
the den.

Yep. So the first step of the peaceful
union here are my spirit essence

remedies. They're just holistic flower
essence remedies. First thing we have is

self -esteem remedies for ketones. Then,
bully remedy would be for Chloe.

Finally, you've got Peacemaker.

Peacemaker goes in the group water, and
you mist it all around the sandstone.

Okay? And speaking of which, I want you
to take a lot of the major scent soakers

and bring them into the DMZ. I want a
DMZ, the demilitarized zone, which is an

area where it doesn't belong to either
cat.

So the first thing we're going to do is
relocate the scent soakers to the DMZ,

to the door of the den. That way, every
time a cat walks by it, scratch,

scratch, I live here. I own this place.
We don't over -own.

We don't under -own. Last thing, what I
want you to do is work on leading Chloe

out of the den. We've got to show her
that the rest of this house is ownable

livable and full of fun and excitement.

And, Julie, you need to step up your
play with Chloe.

Ketone was so stressed out that she was

pooping outside her box. It was so bad
that they had to separate these cats and

keep the doors shut. I watched Julie and
Jordan's video homework, and I got to

see them using spirit essences, one
formula for Chloe to help keep her calm,

another for Ketone to help raise her
self -esteem.

I also saw that Julie and Jordan moved
all the scent soakers into the new

demilitarized zone.

Now, my hope is that Chloe's not
overguarding that den area anymore. Now,

walking in today, I got to see that
Julie and Chloe have a bond. I also have

see that Chloe is not beating up ketone
all the time because these guys have

actually talked about rehoming ketone,
and I can't see that happening.

telling me is great, but I have to see

these two cats together. I've got to
feel that ketone is safe, and I've got

feel like she's got a home here. And the
only way I can know that... It's the

devious two cats interact together in
the office, which is the demilitarized

zone, without any negative interactions.

out that toy. Julie, just get her

comfortable on her scent soaker. I've
got Jordan playing with Chloe, trying to

get that momentum out of the den and

watching a game -changing moment in the

relationship between Chloe and Keytone,
because we got Keytone looking at Chloe

not like a victim. She's just looking at
her, and Chloe goes, I can't get away

with what I used to. I'll just look
away.

In that moment, a dialogue began between
these two cats, and now things can

really change here.

First day that I met these guys, first
of all, Keytone was terrified.

And to see her like this is just exactly
what I wanted to see.

Chloe, the first day I met her, was not
all that nice.

She can be who she wants to be as long
as she does exactly that, which is hang.

That's incredible.

I mean, seeing ketones like this has got
to make you feel better.

Honestly, she is a changed cat.

That's amazing, guys. She's still
hanging out.

How are you feeling at this point with
what's going on? Way better. We're

finally a united family, and now we're
having fun with them. Is Keytone safe

Ducati. Ducati is our problem child. She

on us. I am at wit's end. This home was
built as a show place, and it's always

covered up with plastic.

I don't know how long I can put up with

I am a Leo the lion, so I figured I
needed a cat to go with my personality.

And I did my homework that Bengals are
very dog -like.

They're not that dog -like. You hear
that idea just thudding to the ground.

Yeah. A Bengal is a cross between a
domestic feline and an Asian leopard

But when people talk of them being dog
-like, what they mean is in their social

behavior. They like to play with people.
They're connected with people. I get

that. But they're also very, very, very
much cat. Is there a ticking clock here

in terms of Ducati?

Maybe we have another house to have
Ducati live there. Seems to be a viable

option. I think she would really love it
in Texas, don't you?

I don't know.

We would have a long -distance
relationship.

Latham is making jokes about moving away
with Ducati, but at the same time, I

can tell that's a theory.

Adrian is at his breaking point, and

he's not willing to give up Ducati, even
if that means their dream home is

just the perfect space.

they get inside pillows, you can wash

Well, whenever the cat gets where it's
not supposed to, it will...

I got to tell you, I hate these things
so much. Once we start getting desperate

enough that we're, like, shocking the
cat, then we know that we're barking up

the wrong tree, so to speak. I mean,
folks, there's got to be a better way to

deter your cat than to shock them.
There's got to be a better no, and

got to be a yes behind that better no.

So one other area that Ducati likes to
pee in is underneath the stairwell here.

Recently, we've added another litter box
here.

You can see it dripping down. She marks

the perimeter. Why?

Because clearly something out there is
bugging her.

So that's what we're going to have to
start looking at, okay? We're in the

above Laguna Beach here. There's a host
of animals out here, any number of which

Ducati could be responding to. Now,
speaking of Ducati, it's time to finally

meet her.

So, this is the lady of the house? It
is.

I'm going to grab my case here. Now,
here's the thing. For her, play equals

equals the reason that she's alive in
the first place. We're going to start by

being a bird.

She's got a play.

So when Jackson played with the Coddy, I
was just shocked. It was the side of

the cat I'd never seen before.

If she is naturally exhausted, and that
is hunt, catch, kill, eat, groom, sleep,

then she will not be patrolling the
boundaries, peeing or scratching,

marks someplace. That instinct won't be
as sharp.

Now, I bestow this upon you, first and
foremost, because your homework is going

to be getting to know Bengals.

Bengals absolutely stand out from other
cats. These guys are hunting machines.

Hopefully, Ducati is peeing less, and
Adrian no longer wants to ship her to

Texas. But we will see. I gave them a
ton of homework. Now, they built Dangle

Boot Camp. They put site lockers over
the floor to ceiling windows under the

stairs. And Adrian is playing with
Ducati every day to tire her out.

But has all this worked?

How are things going with Ducati? Tell
me all about it. Well, um...

She only peed one time. One time. One
time. My five. After all of this.

That's fantastic.

Are you kidding me? No, I can't believe
it. Well, I'm skeptical, but it's true.

Are you kidding me? I am. We went
through such a long period of

just two weeks of a dry spell doesn't
convince me. I feel encouraged, but I'm

not convinced.

Adrian is skeptical, but I am so
impressed with Ducati's progress.

This is a cat who was peeing every
single day. And now it's just been one

in two weeks. Now, I need to determine
why she did it. We did go out of town,

and she does have anxiety when we're out
of town. So the one time she did pee on

the couch, and luckily it was covered,
but it happened while we were gone.

The good news... about that is that at
least we're not sitting here going, wow,

that's random.

And now we can really zero in on that.
Guys, how's Bengal Boot Camp going? I

think it's cool and great. We put up all
the sunny seats. Judging by the smile

on your face, Ducati must be using it.
Yes, and Adrian is playing with Ducati

all the time, and I just love it. Ducati
is a cool cat. I've really grown to

like her, but she's not a dog.

She's never going to be a dog. No, she's
never going to be a dog. Why, you're a

hard guy to please, man. I mean, I love
dogs, don't get me wrong, but she is

uber cat, and I've got to get you to
love that part of things.

All right, let's go on in, walk around,
and see Ducati.

Okay. So we head into the living room,
and let me tell you something. I

have been any happier.

Bangle Boot Camp.

Look at this, man.

This is fantastic.

We have sunny seats that have turned
into stairs that wind up on the top of

armoire. And I couldn't wait to check
out every little piece of it. She loves

it. There you go.

Oh, it gets better, though. This is
huge.

I know, look. We have pillows.

We have no covers.

Seeing Ducati walk around Bengal Boot
Camp, there's so much more of a

confident energy about this cat. And
that's why she's not peeing anywhere.

This was my other part of the boot camp.
I built two of the sunny seats here and

then there, and then I added this board
where now Ducati can walk back and

forth. That is brilliant. Look at that.
One simple piece of wood up here.

This is so brilliant, though. One thing,
if I had to make one suggestion, you

see what she's doing right now? You see
where she's looking? Where is she

looking? She's looking at a dead end,
right? Your highway has a dead end.

So I would just, I mean, only because
you guys have done such an amazing job

with this, you can connect your two
places. You're going to turn my house

habit trail.

I am turning your house into a cat
superhighway, and I'm proud of it. I

over to Adrian, and he started giving me
some flack. The guy did not want one

more shelf.

In his house. I mean, the thing is,
we're talking about one shelf here. I

for you it feels like Habitrail right
now. Remember, by working her out here,

expanding her full sense of territory,
you're kind of making sure that your

stuff doesn't get peed on again. I
thought we were building my dream house

our dream house, but I think we may be
building Ducati's dream house.

I'm not sure yet.

We have Ducati in here. I'm going to
grab a toy just like the one that I gave

you guys the last time I was here.

The last time I was here, I made it
really clear to Adrian that I needed him

play with Ducati. But in the video
homework, I got to see he wasn't quite

getting it. He was kind of doing the old
I'm not a cat guy swinging a toy thing.

And that worries me. Keep it moving.
Don't let her stop.

I need you to get her moving. I think
Jackson caught on that I'm not always

doing my homework the way I'm supposed
to. Nope, not like that. I need you to

move her all around the room. You have
to be the bird.

Play is so important in this case. If
Adrian can't get Ducati to that point of

boiling, panting, well, then she's going
to get her energy out in other, more

destructive ways. She's going to go back
to peeing around the house. You've got

to get into the mindset of being a bird.

We've got a little bit of hard breathing
here. She wants to go into pounce mode

and you have to be like in constant
action.

Look at that. Look at the way she's
hunting.

Keep it moving. Keep it moving.

I love it. Nice jump.

Wow. I've never seen her that tired. We
have full on panting. We have a tired

cat. You feel good about the tools I
gave you.

Adrian's got it. He's finally learning
to be the bird. This is good news.

Ready for some homework?

Yes. Sure. Hold on. I got something for
you.

Here we go. Yep.

These are catnip cozies, right? Now,
here's the thing. We're dealing with

cozies. The catnip cozies are to address
the reason behind Ducati's one

accident, separation anxiety.

And it's something that I'd like you to
put on. There's little catnip pouches in

here. You can just drape it over
yourself and just sit someplace that

your scent gets in it. Then the cat can
complement your scent with theirs. So

when you go away, your scent is still
strong.

Now, I want you to flesh out the end of
the cat superhighway in the living room.

Then, Adrian, you're going to step up
your game playing. I do want to make

that you can get Ducati to that panting
place.

Now, just to show you that I'm the kind
of good sport that I profess to be, I

would like to give you your catnip
cozies.

And I'd like all of us to try it on.

All right, I'm here for my final visit
with Adrian and Latham and their cat

Ducati. Now, when I first met these
guys, Adrian was fed up with Ducati

all over their newly remodeled house.

Ducati! And he wanted her out.

The last time I was here, we were making
some great head waves. I watched the

video homework that I last assigned
them, and it looked great.

Adrian was doing a great job playing
with Ducati, and Ducati seemed to be

enjoying the cat in a cozy that I left
to alleviate his separation anxiety.

Now, it's time to see if they've passed
the big test.

So, guys, tell me, since the last time I
was here, has Ducati peed?

Well... No. No!

Yay!

Nothing. Bottom of the stairs?

Nothing. That's unbelievable. I gotta
tell you, it's a huge relief to hear

Ducati hasn't peed. She went from peeing
all over the place on a daily basis to

only once the last time I was here, and
that, I suspected, was due to separation

anxiety. We went... On a little trip the
other day and... Nothing. Nothing.

It's done.

Quite a transformation.

We came back and she was fine. She was
sitting on the catnip cozy and she was

okay with us being gone. My learning
curve had to go from knowing how to play

with the dog to knowing how to play with
the cat. Right. And once I got used to

that, then I started to enjoy it. And so
now I have a different kind of

relationship, a cat person and a dog
person.

I have got a star pupil in Adrian, the
guy who admitted he was nothing but a

guy, didn't even get cats. Through this
process, not only gets them, but he gets

the difference between dog and cat, what
to expect out of them and how to get

what you want, and he likes them. That
means I won this battle for sure.

Okay, so the last time I was here, your
big assignment was to connect the dots.

I wanted to see the superhighway.

So tell me what you've done. So I've
added this beam here or this panel here.

Oh, my God. Look at that. Where Ducati
can have a nice relaxing stroll along

beam. Yeah, yeah. And down and around
and make a complete circle.

That's so great.

Here she is now. Here she comes.

Hi, girlfriend.

What a charmed life this cat lives at
this point, man. It's pretty amazing.

Throughout our time together, I assigned
Adrian and Latham very specific tasks.

Latham was the builder of the couple.
This was the guy who had to make sure

house was truly catified.

Adrian was a guy who just didn't have a
relationship with Ducati. So I needed

him to build a bond. Both Adrian and
Latham in their individual jobs have

absolutely been stellar. And because of
that, at the end of the day, Ducati is a

happier cat.

Hello, my love.

There was a point where I was just
regretting ever getting Ducati. But as

turns out, there's nothing wrong with
the cat. It was me. I was the one who

needed to learn how to treat a cat.

I never thought we would get as far as
we've gotten as fast as we've gotten

there. The interaction with him and the
cat is just really wonderful.

On that note, guys, I'm going to leave.
