but I've never met one I couldn't help.

Oh, hello. In my career, I've worked
with thousands of cats one -on -one,

analyzing their behaviors and retraining
them and their guardians.

When relationships are at an end, I
don't have many more options than to

leave. And cat guardians have reached
their emotional limit. Just get rid of

her. I'm their last hope.

So what do you get when you cross an
incredibly aggressive cat who's biting

scratching, drawing blood on a daily
basis, and a six -month pregnant woman?

get a powder keg of a situation, and
that's what I'm dealing with right now.

I'm heading over to make sure that
powder keg just doesn't go off.

I'm John.

I'm Sarah.

And we're dating.

With a baby on the way.

We have two cats that don't get along
very well.

Lucy is my cat.

I call her Lucifer sometimes.

I've had her for three years.

My cat's Kylie, and I've had her for
about 10 years. We've been dating, Sarah

and I, for about 15 months, and we were
longtime friends before that. The only

stress in our relationship is Lucy.

Lucy has a mean streak. Lucy likes to
sneak up on Kylie.

She never had that problem before we
moved in here a year ago.

You'll be petting her, and she'll be
purring, and all of a sudden, she'll

unleash and attack you.

Oh, my God.

She'll wrap herself around you. She'll
bite down and pierce your skin.

Lucy is locked onto my arm, and I can't
get her off, and I want to cry.

If you try to shove her off, she'll come
back even harder.

Ow! Ow, ow, ow.

And they usually leave a mark.

Even with the sweatshirt on, she dug
right through. I don't know what to do

this cat.

She sent me to the hospital with a cat
bite that got infected and immobilized

entire arm.

We want to bring our baby into the world
knowing that our home is safe.

If it came down to a choice between my
family and a cat, my child comes first.

Just thinking about giving her up breaks
my heart.

I mean, she's my first baby.

One of our cats is going to have to go,
and I'm afraid it's going to be Lucy.

That's the most honest answer I think
I've heard.

I'm going in right now for my first
visit with John and Sarah.

They got a hard deadline here. We got
three months and we're going to have a

baby. Hey, how are you?

Hey, Sarah. Hey, I'm John.

I'm good to meet you guys. I got to be
honest with you. This one makes me a

little nervous because Sarah's six
months pregnant. They've got an

cat named Lucy. I'm concerned as well as
them. So I'm going to go in right now.

See if there's anything I can do about
it. Tell me what's going on. We have

Lucy. Our younger cat, she's got a lot
of energy.

She's really rambunctious. She likes to
scratch and bite.

Wait, hold on. This is rambunctious?
Yeah.

Most of the time when I see cats biting
and biting hard, it's because they could

have been taught by humans that hands
are toys.

So they go after the hands with teeth.

Kylie is our other cat. We keep Lucy in
the back of the house all day, and Kylie

has the front. They don't get along.

Lucy will creep up on Kylie, wait until
she has let her guard down, and then

sneak attack her.

About six months ago, she actually sent
me to the hospital with a cat bite.

She grabbed on with her back claws here,
so she was like this, you know, biting

and immediately got infected within
three days.

Huge swollen, couldn't use my hand for
anything.

It's pretty bad.

When the cat sends you to the hospital,
that's when my meter goes to red, and I

know we've got to step in and make
something happen right now.

If I had a bite of that magnitude, I
don't know what I would do. I can't take

antibiotics being pregnant.

I hadn't even thought of that.

I wouldn't hesitate to find a new home
for Lucy.

It's... It's heartbreaking to think
about giving up my pet that I adore.

I could tell that we had a major problem
on our hands. They were both panicked,

it seemed to me, and I don't blame them.
They're about to have a baby, and we've

got an aggressive cat.

Lucy draws blood on a daily basis.

We've got a lot of things to look at,
what I need to look at.

It's the territory.

So let's get cracking. Let's move on. I
had to see who owned what. What part of

the house does Lucy own? What part of
the house does Kylie own? But I do want

make sure I'm not putting a pregnant
woman in danger.

Kylie has the habit of cornering herself
over here.

There's Kylie.

Baby doll.

Hi, my love.

When I see a cat like Kylie scrunched
behind a TV, it's the epitome of lack of

confidence. Do you mind if I get you out
of there? Is that okay?

You're a lot of cat.

She's inviting attack. If you act like
prey, you're going to be treated like

prey. And that's what Kylie was doing.
So we have to really up her confidence

level. So, obviously something that
we're going to have to look at.

Let's keep going.

What do we got? This is our soon -to -be
nursery.

Obviously it's a little cluttered, a
little crowded right now.

How soon are we looking at getting this
done?

Basically within six to eight weeks.

Guess what?

Probably a little sooner, huh? A lot
sooner.

It's not just going to be about the
architecture in here. It's the smells,

sights, the sounds. We're going to work
all that stuff in here before the baby's

born, way before the baby's born. They
have to get used to the environment.

Basically, cats are really big creatures
of habit, and I've got to start getting

them used to this space so when the new
baby comes, Lucy won't feel threatened

and attack John, Sarah, or the baby.

Okay, so we got Lucy in here.

Hi, Lucy.

John, I'm going to ask you to come in
here and just show me what it is that

would normally do. I want to see John
handling her. I got to think there's

way that he pets her that sets her up.

I'm not trying to get you sent back to
the hospital. Believe me.

What I'm trying to do is approach that
line with her, what I call the challenge

line. Hey, girl.

Oh, okay, okay.

Ow. Sorry, sorry, sorry. That stings.

I can't believe this. I turn my head for
one second, and boom. Sarah puts her

hand the one place I didn't want it, on
Lucy, and Lucy attacks her. The last

thing I wanted to happen for Lucy to
attack Sarah, who's pregnant.

Sarah immediately jumped out and ran out
of the room. Her wounds were kind of

nasty looking, considering they happened
so fast, but there were no bites. The

vast majority of cat bites get infected,
so I was just really relieved not to

see a puncture mark.

I don't like the fact when I look at
this. I mean, it's okay for me. It's not

okay for you. When Lucy finally went
after Sarah the way she did, just

onto her arm, she did it with the
natural ferocity of the hunter that she

realize that our deadline is not when
this baby is born.

Our deadline is now. We're dealing with
a cat that's predictable, and that is a

huge plus.

John and Sarah think that this is
totally unprovoked. No. What she is is a

bomb. This is the cat who's locked away
in the back of the house all the time. A

cat with incredible drive is a hunter,
and all of that energy is going to come

out where you don't want it unless you
take the responsibility to drain it

That baby is like a prime target.

I mean, no, it's true, right?

Now, the nursery has got to be done, and
it's got to be done by the time I get

back here.

You are going to be in charge of the
play time.

You're going to have two play sessions a
day, morning and night.

Playtime is essential for Lucy, who
bites.

We've got to get her moving on something
that will drain energy off of her in a

natural way. Give her what she needs,
but don't present humans as targets.

In the middle of your workday, I want
you to start taking breaks and have

supervised visits with them. When I use
supervised visits, it's basically a way

of taking extra responsibility with two
cats who just don't get along.

If the cats wanted to kill each other,
they would have done it by now, and it

hasn't happened.

Over the first week, you're going to
start seeing a change in her behavior

because she's not going to be looking at
Kylie to be a target. And if Kylie's

not a target, she's not going to act
like a scared cat.

And that will up her confidence level.
Okay. Got it? Yeah. All right, good. It

was really scary seeing Sarah being
attacked by Lucy. Lucy is the one that's

aggressor. I would like to just give up
Lucy.

I'm going in for my second visit now
with John and Sarah, who's very pregnant

this point. Now, I gave them basic
homework last time about their cat,

whose violence I saw firsthand.

Hey, girl.

Oh, God.

Jackson! John!

Hi! All I can hope for this time is the
attacks are down, because we really

don't have a lot of room to work with.

So let me just ask you one thing so we
can get it out of the way, okay?

Have we had blood?

Well... Uh -oh.

We have seen blood. We have seen blood.

She came up and she was purring and she
sat right on my belly.

I went to kind of like adjust and that's
when she just went right for my arm.

Holy God, that was one. Both sides of my
arm.

Really disturbing news today. I mean, I
walk in, the first thing that I hear is

that Sarah's been attacked within the
last week. I mean, the scars all over

arms are ridiculous.

How did you feel when you found out?

Angry to see Farrah get beat up time
after time.

This completely bums me out. Gets me
thinking that maybe Lucy doesn't belong

the film.

What wasn't happening at that point?

She wouldn't react to any of the toys.
And two, we didn't have supervised time

for two days.

The thing that really concerns me is
that if you spend two days not taking

gunpowder out of the bomb, the bomb
builds up again and goes off to that

We just can't have that. If they're not
playing with her and they're not letting

Lucy out to share the space with Kylie,
then they're creating the cat bomb

that's ready to explode.

I know that you guys filmed some
homework for me on video, so let's take

We have Kylie over here.

We have Lucy sneaking up on Kylie, so
I'm going to do this and just block her

off. Go find something else to do.

That's the idea of these supervised get
-togethers between the two cats.

And I thought it was great that Sarah
thought to use a sight blocker to get

between Kylie and Lucy. It keeps Sarah's
body out of the way. Lucy just attacked

me again.

It's really disheartening.

I'm just starting to worry that it's not
going to work.

The worst thing I've seen in video
homework in quite a long time was the

aftermath of that attack, and I needed
some good news. It was time to get up

definitely take a look around this
house.

Okay, let's take a look.

Bang!

It's a nursery.

Guys, that's amazing.

Lucy is roaming in that room and seeing
all the changes. She seems to enjoy

being in the nursery.

It feels like you're expecting a baby.

This wasn't just about building up a
nursery for John and for Sarah. It was

for Lucy. This is desensitizing,
positive association.

So a cat like Lucy is not going to feel
threatened around a newborn and attack.

So let's keep moving. Okay.

Hi, Kylie.

She's a back rub type of girl.

Yeah, she loves it. With Kylie this
comfortable, what better time to bring

in to have the supervised playtime? We
might as well.

Suddenly she zoomed in onto Kylie.

Lucy is locked.

She's getting ready here. What am I
going to do? Distract her with this.

The reason why I wanted to distract Lucy
with a toy is because I wanted to make

it more interesting than attacking
Kylie.

It's really tough with her.

Oh, no. No, no.

Uh -huh.

This is the place where you would have
your sight blocker, right?

I put it down. Look at that.
Immediately.

Immediately she's off.

That's the goal, okay?

Lucy just went after Kylie, and I don't
want her to redirect that energy onto

John and Sarah, so I've got to find
something that calms her.

Hi.

The one thing that you never want to do
with a prey animal like a cat is stare

them in the eyes. What I wanted to do
was soften my gaze. I call it a slow

blink. It's just a way to communicate
with cats.

Hi.

Hi, baby.

Hi.

You see how the blink made that happen?

When Jackson blinked his eyes at Lucy,
she sort of like flopped over and mewed

at him. His blinking just really seduced
her. I mean, look. Hi.

You give her that look and she just kind
of goes belly up. I have never actually

seen her do that.

I looked over at Sarah and John. We all
thought at the same time, this is the

cat we love. This is the cat we want to
save. Come on, guys. I want to sit down

for a bit and give you guys homework for
today, okay? Okay.

First of all, let's start talking about
the nursery. I think it's really

important for both her and Kylie to be
able to watch this thing in motion. I'd

like you to put up a shelf or two around
the crib itself. Safe distance away,

but above it a little bit.

I do want both cats to be able to get up
above the crib. They can see what's

going on. They're not deprived from the
baby, and that means they'll be less

prone to attack the new baby.

I want Kylie to have more home. That
seat is her home. More, more, more.

little stairway up and down on that big
piece of sliding glass window. What I

want is for Sarah and John to start
catering to Kylie's needs. Then she'll

safe, not cornered, and her confidence
will skyrocket.

And the final thing is...

You guys got fascinated by the eye
blink, but here's what I'm going to do.

I'm going to video myself doing it, and
I'm going to give it to you guys, and

I'd like you to play it on that big
screen TV while you're doing the

visit. John and Sarah have both been
attacked by Lucy in the past, and I just

don't want to have their faces anywhere
near her right now. And until there are

no more attacks, we'll just use the
video.

rid of my cat, and I don't want to bring

my baby into a home where he or she
might get hurt. I need to feel self

that my child's going to be safe.

Very intrigue. I know it sounds
ridiculous, but I just wanted to see if

would respond to it. And sure enough,
Lucy walked up to it, and she began to

really experience it in a positive way.
Her body was relaxed. She's just still.

I'm hoping we're just that much closer
to having peace in the house.

The stakes were so high in this home,
and I'm just hoping that Lucy's less

aggressive and not posing such a big
threat to the baby.

So, guys.

First day I met you, you were getting
attacked on a regular basis.

Okay, okay.

So, let's do an arm check. Please show

Yeah.

Since Jackson's been here, I don't feel
like I'm tiptoeing around her as much. I

don't feel like, oh, this is going to
end in an attack. I have a way to work

with her now that will just take that
energy and just dispel it right away.

The supervised visit's going real well.

Kylie falls asleep, even. With Lucy out
here?

Yeah. Wow.

Last time I was here, I had to throw my
body in between these two.

in order for mayhem to not break out.
Yeah.

So really, really positive news.

So guys, the first thing I noticed when
I walked in here was the shelving. So

let's get up and take a look at that.
The last time I was here, I asked them

build more shelves for Kylie.

So that rocks right there. So Kylie will
go one, two, three.

I've seen her do that, yes.

Great.

The thing with Kylie was to get that
confidence up. We took this cat, we got

off the ground, and once we did, she
didn't present herself on the level of

target that Lucy needed in order to be
activated.

So now, Lucy's activated by the things
that we want her to be activated by.

So our next stop was the nursery. The
first day that I was here, that space

like a second garage. There wasn't
anything in there that even resembled a

nursery. First of all, this is a
complete nursery.

You've got it. I believe so.

These shelves are a great step in the
right direction, and I just love the

that everything's in place here.

Settling into this baby's arrival also
means the cats can settle into this

baby's arrival.

These guys knocked my socks off. They
really did.

Fantastic work.

Exciting. Exciting in here, right? Let's
keep moving. I know there's other stuff

we want to see before I leave today, so

I sent John into the next room where
Kylie was, and I had Lucy come on over

hang out at that point.

I had John bring Kylie into the room and
sit down.

Now watch. She's looking over there.

See how I got her attention? She's doing
the blink. She's calmed down. Now we

could see what was going to happen.

Go, girl! Yeah!

See, this is the kind of thing I could
not get the last time I was here. Right

now, I know that I can keep getting her
attention away from Kylie. It's so cool.

Lucy's no longer that cat bomb ready to
go off because they're learning how to

get rid of that energy in the correct
way, which means she's no longer going

after them or Kylie.

That is a cat that has changed
dramatically.

One last question.

We got a baby coming soon.

How are you feeling now about having
baby and cat together?

I really feel confident that we've got
this now. I see results, and I'm eager

see what it looks like six more weeks
from now. Yeah, totally.

There was a point where I was definitely
ready to kind of give up and rehome

Lucy, but now I have the knowledge that
I need in order to make the situation

work. So that's a pretty big deal. I
couldn't be more thankful because

kept our family together.

They've got a cat named Chubbs, a three
-year -old Maine Coon who is incredibly

violent towards their newer cat, Cole,
who happens to be flying.

Now, this cat, Cole, can't even see
Chubbs coming. I've got to go over there

right now and make sure that Cole has a
fighting chance.

I'm Carrie. I'm Jonathan.

And we've been together for... Two and a
half years. Two and a half years.

And we own Chubbs and Cole.

Chubbs is a Maine Coon.

I've had him ever since he was a kitten.
Cole, we've had him for about a year

and a half.

We brought Chubbs home, as well as Cole,
from a kennel at a vet clinic.

Chubbs was born too young, never had a
mother, grew up with a terrible immune

system. Cole had a respiratory infection
so bad that his eyes were bulging out

of his head.

Now he's blind.

We saved both of them, and now we've
brought them into their own little war

zone. It's okay.

Chubbs has issues with aggression.

I'm a certified veterinary technician,
and my goal in life is to go into

behaviorist work with cats, and if I
can't get these two to get along, then I

can never achieve those goals.

The cats are a hindrance to a lot of our
daily activities.

They fight all the time.

Six, seven, fight every single day.

We're losing sleep over them.

We didn't save them to get them in a
situation of where they were just going

be living terrible lives.

It's just wearing us out, and we want
our sanity back.

We are big fans of Jackson, and I look
to him as a mentor.

Well, glad to be here. I hear things are
getting pretty hairy around here,

right? A little bit.

Yeah, well, tell me a little bit about
it.

Chubbs, he was pretty aggressive when
Cole came into the picture about a year

and a half ago.

When they started interacting, that's
when they started fighting.

Chubbs would start immediately getting
aggressive towards him. It's literally a

fight every single day.

We had one severe fight. Cole and Chubbs
were in the bathroom, and we came home,

and there was blood everywhere.

And Chubbs nailed...

actually had popped off.

Carrie and Jonathan were telling me
right away that basically Chubbs is

relentless about trying to get to Cole.
The victim is a blind cat, and that

makes me feel awful. I really, really
want to help Cole out. So there's

fights. Right. I got to say, this ain't
a lot of taste. Right.

We're sitting in a very small
environment. This studio is teeny.

It felt claustrophobic, and I know that
the cats just don't deal well with that,

especially when there's one stalking the
other in the first place.

Jonathan and I had really considered
having to rehome one of these cats.

This is, what, a year and a half now?
Yeah. They're still fighting.

I constantly feel like I'm agitated, I'm
upset. I saved both of these cats, and

now they're just fighting.

And that upsets me to my core because my
goal in life is being a behaviorist

and, you know. So you actually want to
become a behaviorist? Yeah, yeah.

Oh, cool. Yeah. I really love the fact
that Carrie wants to be a cat

behaviorist. I'm here to just help these
cats but also to bring her up into this

occupation. So what I'd like to do is
actually just.

Every nook and cranny in here. Let's
take it apart.

Okay. And then we can figure out what
makes the cats tick, right? Okay. All

right, so let's start over there. Okay.

So, where's Cole right now? He's
underneath that shelf.

Hello, Cole.

Cole hangs out down here normally?

Yeah, he sleeps down there a lot. I
smell pee down here. Yeah, he's actually

done it in his little spot. That's what
I'm smelling.

If he's peeing where he sleeps...

You don't get any more of a red flag,
right? Yeah.

He's marking it and saying, this is my
only safe place. Not a good thing. I

really wanted to see things under the
scope of my black light.

This, to me, was what smelled really bad
before.

Why don't you guys come down here and
join me, man? This is your stuff.

Come here, start smelling around. You
tell me.

Where do you... I mean, I can smell it.

These didn't used to be here.

And it would show on the blanket, right?

I'm telling you guys, it smells like pee
down here. So he's hitting something.

And this is where I get to do the fun
stuff.

So this is actually pretty fresh down
here. So we'll have to clean that up.

It had all pooled down on the floor, on
the cement, plus the carpet right in

front of there. It's sad that Cole can
only mark with urine to make himself

safe, and we've got to do something
about it.

Having his perimeters defined and
realizing that in this small space, he

out even a smaller space and said, this
is the only area I feel safe in, then...

That gives us all the ammunition we're
going to need.

These guys don't have anything around
him that plays into challenging a cat

can't see. No toys that are sensory.
Nothing to lead him from one place to

other. And I find that suspicious when
we're dealing with Carrie, who wants to

be a behaviorist, and she's not dealing
with this cat's behavior.

And there's our boy.

Oh, hello.

Now, here's the thing.

I need to see the two cats together.

So if you can get Cole from his den and
bring him on over here, and let's put

him on the bed.

I wanted Carrie to bring Cole over to
where Chubbs was on the bed. That said,

there's no way I'm going to let this
fight escalate because we're dealing

blind cat who's basically helpless.

Okay. Hi, Cole.

I feel anxious because we've had, you
know, Bad fights, and

blood can be drawn from this.

This is the first look I've been able to
have at his eye, too.

Okay. All right, well, at least I had
the good sense to run away.

We've got two cats who don't speak the
same language.

One can't see, and Chubb's a bottle
baby, who at three days old was brought

by a human. That means he's going to
have holes in his language when it comes

dealing with other cats. They're just
learning how to have dialogue, and it's

not going too well.

All right, guys, so...

I don't think they know how to
communicate or play with each other

So I want to start going over what I saw
today. You know what? Give me a second,

It is time to go to school.

Homework begins with you, Carrie.

You want to be a cat behaviorist, so
basically you've got to know what

to every cat. The only thing that's
important to a cat is, do I own this

We see Chubbs, who walks around the
world like, I own this. Now, we have

on the other hand. His behavior is
saying, I don't own anything.

Carrie was telling me that she really
wanted to be a behaviorist. So for

Carrie's homework, I want Carrie to put
on her cat glasses and start acting like

a cat detective.

She's got to write down all her
observations and put it on their Cat

homework board. I think we're seeing a
lot of play aggression here. So give

toys that cater to them, meaning that
Chubbs gets the kind of toy he can chase

around. Cole, we've got to be much more
imaginative about catering to the senses

that are heightened that he already has.
They have got to find sensory toys,

things that turn him on in a smell
sense, in a hearing sense, and really

getting him around the house, owning the
world by hunting things, so he becomes

a confident cat.

The next thing we've got to do in here
is declutter a little bit. I want to

sure that we have areas for these guys
to say, oh, yeah, I can get out of your

way. Cole's an easy target for Chubbs in
this cluttered apartment.

Because Cole can't see Chubbs coming and
because Chubbs has a lot of places to

hide here, if you've got any questions
in the next couple weeks, just give me a

definitely want to be in, and it really

does add the pressure because I want to

aggression. We had a really confined
space and that really didn't help the

veterinary technician who wants to be an

animal behaviorist. She can't be a
behaviorist if she can't sort out the

with her own cats.

are still at a disadvantage because they
can't see something coming, especially

if that's something attacks from behind.

The aggression has gone way down. That's
fantastic. How many fights were we

I really took the homework of being a
behaviorist to heart because this is

me that she really wanted to be a

I noticed it's actually the complete
opposite now.

Cole will actually go after Chubbs if he
hears him walking around the room.

Interesting. Confidence level through
the roof. Yeah, probably because we play

with Cole a lot more now.

Yeah. Do we have any sprain going on
from Cole?

None. Cole standing up for himself,
showing a little bit of confidence in a

territorial way is what we needed here.
It's the pendulum swinging. As you raise

the confidence level of one cat, he's
going to test those limits. And that's

that Cole is doing. Now, I want to go
over your video homework with you.

I saw them using a fetter toy with
Chubbs that he can now chase and hunt.

I was also really happy to see Cole
playing with his fuzzy toy. That meant

Carrie really did her homework and found
a toy that catered to the needs of this

blind cat, and that alone really raised
his confidence.

Jonathan and Carrie made it a livable
area for both cats. They have

the house in a big way, but at the same
time, the fights are still happening.

It's really important that they finish
their work in terms of getting rid of

anything that can be an ambush zone or a
corridor. Now...

The sort of aggressive behavior we're
still seeing, I was hoping to see a

less than that.

Now, what we need to do is get up and
look around, okay?

All right, so we got Cole out and about.
Where's Chubbs at?

Chubbs is actually under there.

So now we've got Chubbs in Cole's old
area on this shelf, and we've got

Cole.

basically in the exact same position
Chubbs was in the last time I was here.

Things had really changed.

They had been playing with Cole, and
they had opened up the room for him,

allowing him to move through the space
more freely, and now he's claimed it as

his own. Now...

What we need to do is double back with
Chubbs. My thought is that if he doesn't

feel all the way comfortable in here
anymore because coal's starting to take

over, the rest of the world could be
his, okay?

Now, they still have a yard right
outside, so I think let's put him in a

and let's walk him around the
neighborhood a little bit so he gets

-body stimulation that you just can't
replace.

I want you to pick him up. We're going
to have a spot that we're always going

start the walks at, and then I'll reward
him once he hits that spot.

Okay. So go ahead and pick him up.

I'm not too confident with getting
Chubbs.

Out on a walk, a full -blown walk. He's
like, I want to go back. Yep. Go ahead.

Walk with him. Let him go? Okay. It's a
very fine line we've got to walk between

scaring him and challenging him. Come
on.

You're all right.

If we could just get Chubbs to quit
fixating on going back inside and be

comfortable outside, we'd be on the
right track to boosting his confidence.

Come here, please.

All I want you to do, buddy, is turn

Now you see he is moving in the right
direction. You see how his body's

to relax out here? Yeah. He's not
constantly going backwards, right? He's

starting to find his mojo right now.

In the past, we had tried to get Chubbs
outside on a harness with little luck.

And Jackson helped show us that once we
start getting him outside, he'll start

getting more comfortable.

We're ending it on a totally high note.

He's finding his confidence out here.
We're done.

And Chubbs chose to follow the food
instead of following the fear back into

home. You could sense the breakthrough.
Now, I'm used to that, but Carrie

wasn't. Now, here's somebody who's
studying to do what I do. It's a really

special feeling to know that the
fascination, the discovery is going to

else now.

there.

So let me give you guys some homework.

Now, Cole, we can't ask him to go too
high. It's a little dangerous for him.

with Chubbs, we're going to build.

Up with just a few shelves around
connecting spot to spot. Cole is going

dominate the floor.

Let's have Chubbs start to be able to
walk up at the same time. Let's get him

walking around the neighborhood a little
bit, exploring and saying, you know, I

can get away from Cole. I can get away
from his territory a little bit and

establish myself outside.

I got something else for you. Hold on

Okay. So this is kind of exciting.

Obviously, we want Chubbs to go outside,
we want him to go on walks, but I also

thought it would be really cool if we
could have sort of a, you know, a place

for him that's more like a tunnel.

By putting the tunnel in the yard,
they're giving Chubbs an additional

It's all his.

He'll own it. And ownership is something
that really increases a cat's

confidence. Plus, it's enclosed, so it's
safe.

And the other thing is, Carrie, because
you are looking to become a behaviorist,

I want you to continue this detective
work. Okay. Even though these guys put

their cat detective glasses, they still
need to open up the space even more, and

I want them to move the couch to prevent
fights. Through the work that you're

doing here, you're going to find all the
answers you need, and make sure you

follow those answers. That's the one
thing that we've got to do, okay? Okay.

I am going to take off. Okay. No

This case is also unique because Carrie
wants to become a behaviorist like me.

And if she begins to doubt herself
during this process, that could mean an

to her career. So I'm feeling extra
pressure here, and I'm hoping that these

guys do their homework so I can finish
what I came here to do.

I'm here for my final visit with Carrie
and Jonathan, Chubbs and Cole. Now, the

last time I was here, we saw Cole's
confidence just skyrocketing. But at the

same time, Chubbs' confidence was taking
a nosedive. The pendulum was swinging.

Now, this time around, I want to see it

Walking into Carrie and Jonathan's
place, first of all, this space speaks

It's finally decluttered. It's wide
open. It's wonderful. The two cats,

coexisting peacefully on a bed together.
This is one of the biggest and best

transformations that I've ever seen in
any of my cases.

Isn't that incredible?

Yeah, definitely.

The fact that Chubbs and Cole are on the
bed next to each other, sleeping and

not fighting, is huge.

The fighting has stopped.

That. is what we came here for,
touchdown, right?

I think the playing is a really big part
of that. I've definitely been writing

more notes on the wall, just being
really critical in what I'm looking at.

definitely say that I finally have my
own pair of cat glasses. I feel so

confident now. I've been able to look at
the little things that the cats do, and

it's like, let's... take a step back.
When were they fed? When were they

with? What's going on? So I feel like
I've really embraced it. So cool.

I want to get up and move around here a
little bit. All right. Let's go.

It's so intense to believe that this is
the same space.

You have created this wonderful open
plan.

First day, this was Chubbs' place.

Second day I'm here, Cole is like, I
think I'll own this. And Chubbs is like,

oh, what about me?

Today, we come back here, and there's
peace in the valley.

Fantastic. I was really hesitant to
think that they were both going to be

to, you know, live in the same vicinity
and be okay with one another and respect

one another. And, I mean, it's gone
beyond that.

Now that's what I want to hear.

Look at him now. Look at that.

Look at where he's sitting right now.
From unconfident and miserable to

confident and happy.

Cole is completely blind, but there's
something about a cat who overcomes any

perceived handicap, an animal who
everybody had given up on, who was going

euthanized. And one person said, no, no,
no, I know there's potential in him.

This is the proof, and it's so beautiful
to see him. I'm telling you, I'm all

goosebumps out right now.

Oh, my God, that's so cool.

No, that's really beautiful.

Wow. And I don't even live with him,
David.

For you guys, it's just got to feel like
you've done right by this cat, you

know? Carrie and Jonathan told me pretty
fast all the problems were done. No

more aggression. No more insecurity from
either cat. The pendulum has evened

out. We have a balance between these two
cats, and that was really the important

thing. All right, so let's take a look
at what you guys did in the last couple

weeks.

Looking at Carrie and Jonathan's video
homework, the happiness is just

today. First of all, moving that couch
to another end of the place, opening up

the whole middle, that was great.

I also got to see Chubbs getting up on
the shelves that Jonathan had built for

him. Good boy!

Well, you're not monkeying around.

Now Chubbs can watch Colt move around
the world from a totally safe distance,

and that way we have a dialogue between
these cats, not a bully and a victim. I

also got to see Chubbs in the tunnel and
on a leash still outside exploring the

world. Great stuff.

When you just take the homework by the
horns, this is what you get. The last

thing I want to do is observe Chubbs in
his tunnel toy that I brought over last

time because they said he really enjoyed
it.

Here comes Chubbs into the tunnel.

But wait.

Cole is following Chubbs into the
tunnel, and I wonder, is he going to

around and attack him like he's done in
the past?

God. Oh, man.

He smells Chubbs, and he says this is
safe.

That, to me, is the biggest success that
we've had.

All together.

Seeing Cole and Chubbs in that tunnel
together did my heart good. The

transformation has been too big for
words. When you have an aspiring cat

behaviorist like Carrie, she now has the
tools that she needs to move forward. I

can't thank you enough for all the
information that you have given us.

You've made me that much more confident.

about what I want to do, about being a
behaviorist.

And you're going to set me off to my
future, to being what I want to be.
