We from Ternopil region in Ukraine.
Our city is Chortkiv.

This is not big town, but very, very nice.

We had a very exciting life.

I had a successful
coffee business in Ukraine.

We had our own flat. We had two cars.

Every Sunday,
we go to church and we visit our parents.

We felt happy.

But, in the one moment…

Everything changed.

Explosions breaking the silence
after dark.

Russian troops are moving in
on the capital, closing in on Kyiv.

When the war started
we were shocked.

We didn't think that there
could be such a sick person

that could destroy and kill people.

We start to help our army.

Give phones, walkie-talkies,
sleeping bags.

We also learned to make Molotov cocktails.

But there was one day
that changed everything.

CCTV cameras
capture Russian troops

as they attack
Europe's biggest nuclear power plant.

Oksana was very scared for the children.

You know, we have a bad experience of
Chernobyl nuclear power plant explosion.

And then we set off to flee.

It was very difficult.

So we left our things
and just took three suitcases.

Our whole life was in these
three suitcases and three bags.

We found out that the government of Wales
opened their door for Ukrainians.

They wanted to be like a sponsor.

It's a different country…

and different mentality.

In Ukraine, different housewives

have different ways of making dumplings.

Do you want
to learn how to do it yourself?

We miss Ukraine every day

We are worrying
about our families that are still there.

Every day we pray for them.

We did dumpling together.

Will you pass on this Ukrainian tradition?

Yes, of course.

When we moved to the UK,

we were settled in the middle of Wales
in a hotel.

We were living in one room, five of us.

So, then Oksana was writing emails
to all the counties in Wales.

Could you help us? And they said
that they could help us with a house.

But we were worried about,

will we be able to pay all bills
and to live a normal life?

In Ukraine we had a business
with coffee machines.

That was really our dream,
to do something here like that.

But it was expensive.

I managed to find a job
working catering at Airbus.

And then we applied for support from the
Wales government to open the business.

I went looking for the premises
for my future cafe.

I was passing by the main,
main streets in Wrexham.

I was very impressed
that such a nice premises

is on the corner
of the Hope and High Street.

But it needs a lot of work.

It was very stressful.

We did everything ourselves.

It was very hard and risky
to open the business.

But it was our dream.

Just before the opening, we really
don't know what people like in Wales.

Would they like our food?

You can't be sure that everything
will go as you planned.

But we've come a long journey.

It has to work.

There is no other way.

But the dream is happening.

We are happy that people are coming,
that people are satisfied.

Second time we've been now,
and it's always friendly.

It takes a bit of bravery, that,

to come to a new country
and then start afresh.

Come from nothing, you know.
I think it's fantastic.

Absolutely admirable.

So far everything goes very well.

I certainly can say that I'm proud

that there is a Ukrainian cafe
in the heart of Wrexham.

The location of our cafe on the corner
of the Hope Street is a good sign for us.

Our dreams
that didn't come true in Ukraine,

I hope can come true here in Wrexham.

We're very excited

I think there's a lot to be hopeful about.

or a note or a text something that says,

"Hey, we're here if you need anything,

You find that those players recognize
the boundaries as well

I think people often forget
how sometimes it can be quite slow.

There's also a lot of challenge
at the time

'cause we've still got rising prices
for the cost of living,

but we've been given
the best opportunity in the world.

We can't be spoon-fed stuff
by the football club

because they've got their own stuff
to worry about.

There's an identity issue
that Wrexham needs to address.

We can't go back to be a mining town,
we can't go back to be a market town,

but we can grasp something else.

Rob and Ryan coming in,
not only rejuvenating the town

in terms of people wanting
to start businesses here,

but also rejuvenating it
in terms of our self-esteem.

Will we be able to say we took advantage
of this once in a lifetime opportunity,

because you can be given a torch,
but you can still fail to run with it.

Our first game of the
season against Wycombe, and you know what,

it was a really good win,

but things don't get any easier
and the next test is against Bolton.

Yeah, last season
Bolton finished third in the League

and made the playoff final,

but Oxford beat them
to reach the Championship.

So, yeah, it's gonna be
a tough one regardless.

Yeah, because clubs like Bolton
just expect promotion.

This is another huge test.

Wrexham have to backpedal,

it's where you finish up that counts.

We talk about sprints, and we took
a real policy decision right at the outset

to go forward as quickly as possible

and we'd backfill
all the things that we missed thereafter.

The reality is
the speed of growth of the football club

kind of outstripped our expectations.

And now we have to make good
all the gaps that we've left behind.

One of my biggest concerns
is right now we have the temporary Kop,

which is fantastic. That's 3,000 people
that are able to come to our matches.

Well, we tried to get tickets to the game,
and it sold out super fast.

We've always been constricted by space.

You can't get tickets.
It's hard to get tickets.

So as more people
want to come watch the match live,

the more people get frustrated
that they're not able to.

It's so hard to get season tickets
these days, to be honest. It's ridiculous.

Appointing you guys was important for us
to be able to get the new Kop done.

The stadium
is just a gigantic priority for us

and a promise that we, you know…
we have to make good on.

It's long overdue.
There's no two ways around that.

That's a big, big part
of the future sustainability of the club

is increasing the number of seats.

Also creating a stand that can meet
the demands of a modern football club.

Something that represents the city,
the community.

Always have to make sure
that the project feels intimate.

It's not just 5,500 seats,
it's hospitality spaces.

- Something that is active 365 days a year.

You come to Wrexham to see the football
or to see the town.

That those two
feel like they're congruent.

It's not simple.
And actually it's hampered by

the club's progress on the pitch,

because while 5,500
when we first did this two years ago

seemed like the right number,

actually, if we continue
making strides on the pitch,

the real question is, is it big enough?

One of the other challenges that we have
is timeline.

We have grant funding.
Part of that grant funding

is tied to the fact
that we are bringing back

international sporting and cultural events
to the racecourse.

The first one being UEFA U-19s,
which is a yearly football tournament

that showcases
Europe's best national teams

made up of players under 19.

And that's in July 2026.

If we don't get this finished
by June 2026,

not only will it be a PR nightmare
and disaster from a reputation standpoint,

also for our fans and supporters,
but more importantly we put at risk

the remaining £14 million in grant money.

But we're behind.
We're so far behind already.

I, for one, will be very excited

when they do that stupid photograph
of Rob and Ryan in hard hats.

But when we start
to build the new Kop next season,

we're gonna have to take away 3,000 seats.

Even more people want to come
from the community to watch our matches,

and we're actually
taking away opportunities for them.

And Birmingham was a Premier League club
in the not too distant past.

They've been taken over recently
by a gigantic mega conglomerate.

Tom Wagner, who is
with Knighthead Capital Management,

assumed responsibility
for all operations of the club.

And Garry Cook is the new CEO.
Cook is a lifelong Birmingham City fan.

I think it is positive. He seems to have
an awful lot of experience.

I think the majority of work he did
at Man City seems very good.

Most recently, he was executive president
and CEO of the Saudi Pro League.

Garry Cook, we know his background
and experience as CEO, and Tom Wagner.

They have that wealth of experience
to drive this project forward

and they get things done.

Birmingham spent £15 million
on Jay Stansfield.

That's about 30 times what we spent
on our most expensive player ever.

That's a lot of money,

Suddenly we are not
the financial superpower of the league.

so they were there to greet Tom.

And then just came in a bit of pressure

done better ourselves

with the ball in our decision making.
