the outcome is unpredictable

and the end, so often bleak.

Death, you see,
hides in plain sight

and needs no introduction.

Yet you'll know
when Death's near

as your body ceases to function.

We've all heard the ghost
stories,

those tales from the dark side.

Flooding your mind with thoughts
of your very own demise.

Maybe you've searched
for the answers to Death
in your ABCs,

in a trilogy,
from beyond the grave,
or on All Hallows' Eve.

Alas, if you didn't find
the truth in some old VHS,

in a crypt, or comic,
or some hidden nook.

Maybe you'll find them
right here, in the pages
of one of our terrifying books.

But whatever answers
you may find,
there is one simple truth.

Death comes for us all,

and to some,
even in their youth.

How will Death come to
those in our little story?

You'll find out soon enough,
but some will surely be gory.
