Last week on No Prep Teams.

Team Kai

Kelly started the event in

first place.

But when most of their drivers went out
early, it left the door wide open for

other teams to move on up.

We were doing perfect for the first two
races.

We just shanked it today. That was it.

Third place team Bodie.

Had two drivers show out.

Newcomers David Merchant. I hope you win
it, man. I've been cheering you on. I'm

trying, dude.

And Nate Thaler continue to prove their
worth.

Nate Thaler gets the win.

I'm Martin Alton. First round here in
Bowling Green.

Bad ad, baby. Thanks, guys. I just feel
like it's our day.

But the weekend was all about Daddy
Dave.

He knocked off heavy hitters all day
long.

And

finally

took out Nate Thaler

in the final.

With that win, Dave was able to move his
team into first place, tied with Team

Ty Kelly.

I picked the hell of a team.

They carried me for the first three
events.

the fourth invitational race of the

season. Look, the weather here is
beautiful.

These drivers, 32 of them, are going to
race for $40 ,000, but more importantly,

the points.

That's right. It is a team championship.

The team with the most points at the end
of the season wins $200 ,000.

Are we the only ones picking up this
week, or are there other teams? I don't

believe so.

Coming into this event, I've got one
team member that's not able to show up.

somebody out of the reserves.

With Kyle already being in the
Invitational, whoever I bring up, it's

automatic free pass.

been doing good.

get called up.

I feel great. I finally get my chance to
the Invitational.

You can't go around to the Invitational
if you're not in it. You know, my goal

for this one is first Invitational.

eight. Prove everybody that they made a

mistake by not picking me in the first
week.

So now we will move to Team Daddy Dave

And he's already in the Invitational. I
need to pick somebody up. I believe you

My name is Paige Coughlin, and I drive
the 1992 Pro Charge Camaro, and her

name's Golden Child.

I never thought I would be racing with
half of these guys, like Ryan Martin,

Murder Nova, Daddy Dave. I'm like, I
can't believe I'm racing with these

It's time to put our A game on. We're
going to prove our spot here. I know I

do it. I know my guys can do it.

Because Kyle Canyon already had his spot
in the Invitational, that means Paige

did not have to race her way in.

However, that was not the case for Doc.

But he managed to race his way in one
step closer to making Team Bodie proud.

Right now in the team standings, Team
Daddy Dave and Team Kai Kelly locked.

They're tied up at the number one spot.

Look, you can bet these captains, they
are going to battle today, but there is

one thing going on. Dave has all five of
his teammates in, whereas Kai Kelly

only has three.

So it's me and you and Lizzie again.

Yeah.

Lizzie never comes to our team meetings,
man, but she's been doing good, so I'm

just going to leave her alone.

We have literally...

had only three in every race.

We've got our show of points every time.

So, nothing against them. They're
working hard and stuff, but we've got to

a way. I mean, I know the race you weigh
in stuff is tough.

There's some hitters in there, but we've
got to figure out a way to get them in.

What sucks for today is we've only got
three people going into the invitation

room. That means all Dave's got to do is
strap in his race car, and he's got us

by 20 points.

It's been tough all year. We're missing
100 points because our two guys haven't

been able to race their way in. We're
going to have to go out there and not

away from each other and go deep into
the show to be able to keep our points.

We've got some badass matchups here in
round one of New Hampshire, like former

405 teammate Ryan Martin going up
against Daddy Dave. Daddy Dave coming

big win in Bowling Green, and Ryan
Martin has been struggling a little bit.

Meanwhile, Doc Love is going to make his
season debut going up against Callie

Mills. Doc has been pretty salty all
year because he hasn't been picked up by

team. I think he's going to do whatever
it takes to make a statement here

against Cali. So there's been some
chatter amongst the drivers that Paige

Coughlin is not ready for this caliber
of no prep racing.

Her matchup, Robin Roberts.

Robin is one of the more consistently
fast drivers, so this is definitely a

chance for Paige to get her name on the
map and prove she has what it takes.

And Damon Merchant will look to try to
make another finals appearance, but he's

got Jim Howe in the first round. He'll
be driving John Odom's car.

Let's do some racing. We're going to
figure out who is going to take home his

$40 ,000.

All right, first pair. That is going to
be Giuseppe going up against Jeff Lutz.

Everything's got to be right.

A million ways to lose, only one way to
win.

All right, we're here at New England
Dragway in New Hampshire. We got all

drivers in. We're ready to get some
points here and move up in the standings

here.

Right now, I feel good about the car. We
got a badass hot rod. The car does

everything we tell it to do.

It's good. Just wipe down the push
buttons and all that after him. Our goal

to obviously win and do whatever it
takes to win, and we're going to do it.

Gentile, but that thing is flying.

And we've been plagued with a problem
this year, and we can't put our finger

it, so we're just going to put the tune
-up we ran last night. I just hope for

the best.

rounds and move our team from second to

last to, you know, somewhere up into the

You know, if I was going to pick a guy
who's leading the team right now, who's

doing the best, it's probably Giuseppe.

going into first round, all five of my

So I am sitting in first place because
Kai only has three drivers. So all we

to do is go around, just stretch the gap
out a little bit more, and that's what

we're looking to do today.

Hopefully we can keep Ryan on the
trailer.

We've raced a lot, and he's won more
than I have.

So let's just turn that around right
here.

Round one, I draw Daddy Dave.

Daddy Dave's just coming off of an event
win in Bowling Green. And his car's

running good. They got a hand on it.
They thrashed. It was a comeback story,

he dominated Bowling Green. And that's
who I got first round. I don't have my

comeback story yet.

All I've got is that we're struggling.
So I do feel good about the car. We made

good passes last night. At this point in
time, I need everything I can get for

some help to get up back in front of
this pack.

Daddy Dave versus Ryan Martin coming at
you right now.

The win.

Dave, just not enough.

Dammit. Put a really hot tune up in it,
and the car just started moving around.

He just started inching away from me
every time I moved around.

No excuses. I didn't do what I should
have, and he did.

He got me by a car, car and a half.

So we're going to went from zero to
hero, and now back to zero again.

Thought of a bet.

Dave started the day off with a loss for
his team.

But now it's up to his newest driver,
Paige Coughlin, to beat Robin Roberts

turn this ship around.

Going in with all five of my drivers.

We're sitting really good. We're in a
good position to take over the number

spot. Kyle couldn't make it, so I had to
pick out of the reserves.

Good thing is they brought Paige
Coughlin in to the reserves.

So we brought her up.

putting her into the big show right off
the bat. So I hope she's good under

pressure, and hopefully she can go some
rounds.

Round one, I drew Paige Coughlin. She's
new to this. She just got drafted and

brought up to the big league, so we'll
just see what she's got.

All right, next pair just finished up
their burnouts over in that left lane.

That's going to be Paige Coughlin going
up against Robin Roberts in the right.

Robin's been one of the cars, in my
opinion, it's one of the faster cars.

Unfortunately, he drew the new girl,
Paige Coughlin.

She's probably going to go right down,
so I hope Robin will do the same thing.

Paige Coughlin drives around and takes
the win. She will move on to the next

round. Great race.

Got in the middle and got loose. Good

We won. I know that he was a top player.

That's a fast car, and I couldn't
believe that we were able to do that.

know, watching him on TV now turning on
a wind light against him, I'm like, no

Next pair coming at you. We got Callie
Mills going up against Doc Love.

So I made the invitation.

I just knew I was going to draw a top
car because I used all my luck.

And sure enough, I drew Callie Mills.

I've got to run a personal best against
her, just to even have a chance.

So I definitely have my hands full, but
make one thing clear. We are not laying

down. We're going to put a home run tune
-up in it, and if she goes, we're going

to give her a hell of a race and
hopefully get that win.

Callie has one of the fastest cars on
the property right now. Don't take it

granted. She's doing amazing driving.
She's cutting good lights.

I feel like she has a car that can win
it today, even over mine. And because

she's on my team, I'm happy for her. So
like I told her, keep doing your job. I

think this weekend could be her.

You know, we do our normal thing.

And I'm looking at the green light.

super, uber, hyper -focused, and I seen

filament start to light that bulb.

And by the time the light was green, I
was releasing the brake.

You put your hard -earned work into it,
and someone goes out there and guesses

the tree.

Bad loser.

All right, folks, next pair is going to
be Rich Bruder and Scott Taylor.

Burger bowl's tight and all.

You pulling out with that big lower or

I'm pulling out with it. We went through
this thing front to back after last.

We broke a wishbone, which holds the
rear end of the car. So you pretty much

lose all control.

So we got that fixed.

Just checking over everything. Hopefully
we didn't forget anything.

Rich Bruder struggled a little bit in
the first race. They've got a new screw

lower combination that runs very well.

And they're making moves and pivoting
along the way.

They changed some stuff yesterday in
testing that helped the car.

And every time I threw that car, it gets
faster.

Scott's in, running great. Well, besides
he broke last night, but he's fixed.

So, you know, we got a strong presence
going into this first round.

You know, there's nothing but bears in
this series this year. I mean, just a

bunch of fast cars, so there's no
gimmies. Even Scott, who has the better

the picks, that's not even close to a
gimme. So let's just hope we can do

something with it.

He had to race his way in and was really
looking to go rounds to help his team

Unfortunately, though, he had issues in
the staging lane as he tried to crank

his car up. So it looks like he'll be
sitting on the bench for the rest of the

day.

All right, so Justin

Swannstrom, not exactly what they were
looking for in that pass, but it was a

-run. They will move on to the second
round.

Mike Murillo did not make the run. Sucks
for him, but I'm glad, too, because I

didn't make it down the track as well.

So we got some work to do. We're behind
eight ball.

We are sucking right now, completely
sucking.

But we'll get it figured out.

We're on the round two. We just got to
see what we can do.

Team Murillo is off to a rough start.
And now their heavy hitter, Scott

just got knocked out.

But they still have two drivers left in,
Randy Williams and Brandon James.

They're both going to have to step up to
keep the team hopes alive.

All right, next pair. We got Chuck 55
going up against the X -Men.

So today's race day. We're at New
England Dragway. We're hoping to go

get some points for this team.

This is about to get interesting.

Drew Chuck Parker, he's got a badass
team. Like, he's put his program

He knows I got a hot rod and got to get
in their head a little bit.

So going into the fifth race, I draw
Axeman.

You've got to race the fast cars to get
to the top, and we might as well face

it. It's time to move up and take out
some of them fast cars.

We're doing decent in the year so far.
We've made big changes over the summer,

and I think I can run the number it
takes to beat him.

We're going to go out and see how much
this track will take.

Actually, a nice pass there in the left
lane. You will move on to the second

round.

It feels awesome to get that win, but
I'm right back in the same spot.

I got to draw a chip and get another
win.

That's why we do it.

So you go from one high to a low.

Here, I hope I can pull it off and get
back on that high again.

I hate giving up a race on the start
line.

Damn. The program we've got is a winning
program, and we just can't get it

working right together.

We had the car to beat him.

But you can't win if you can't get off

Williams going up against Kayla Morton.

Kayla started out real strong. She won
Ohio.

Unfortunately, it was not a points
thing.

She's been carrying us along with
Axeman. They're both putting in work.

For first round, we drew Randy Williams.

He has came a long way. We've watched
him progress over the last few races,

which makes me a little nervous. We have
to get past first round. Even though we

come in with a potential lead today, if
we don't capitalize on it, we're going

to be stuck in second or still tied for
first at the end of the day.

week, so I guess it's our turn.

We are halfway through round one, and we
are seeing some surprising wins.

Doc and Paige Coughlin both had big
chances and took advantage of them.

I feel like Bodie and Dave are probably
pleased with their choices.

All right, next pair coming at you right
now. We got Greg Chandler going up

against Murder Nova.

You know, we drew Murder Nova, Sean.

We got right lane.

I mean, are we ready? We got the tune
fixed?

The points chase is, like, it feels like
it's out of reach right now, but if you

have your five guys go to the finals two
or three times in a row or back -to

-back semis and semis, you can make a
huge jump in the points.

What happens if Chandler goes out here
and wins the event or Jerry Bird comes

out here and goes to the finals like we
think he should or Larson does?

It's a tough boat to be in right now,
trying to steer it and maneuver it and

the captain of this ship when I can't
even turn on windlights myself.

I can't explain to you how much stress I
got on me now running in. I've never

run in, and I don't want to take and
blow it, you know.

Who'd you get, Sean?

Greg Chandler. Right on.

Good save. Thank you, sir.

Round one, I draw Greg Chandler, race
number nine.

And that's a winnable race.

I know that he's struggling this season.
But during testing, we had some

problems. The car's shutting off. It's
not happy. It's shutting cylinders down.

And we are scrambling, trying to figure
out what's wrong with it. Last night, we

rolled new bearings in it. And at this
point, all we can do is go up there and

try it out and see. Right now, if it
doesn't burn out without dying,

everything's going to be okay.

All right, so Murder Nova having issues
over here in the left lane, keeping the

car running.

He had the same issues yesterday, but
was still able to make a pass.

At this point, there's two options.

Try to get it in the beans and see what
happens, or give up.

But at this point, I'm going to try for
it. I'm going to go for it. I don't care

that I didn't do a burnout. I'm going to
try to make a pass no matter what

happens.

Coming at you right now, we got Greg
Chandler going up against Mervin Nova.

And Mervin Nova takes the win.

How does that even happen?

Oh, my God.

Hey, that's how you don't lose to the
trailer.

I let go of the button and the car takes
off.

It's rolling. It makes a pretty decent
path for no burnout. It gets a little

loose in the middle, but that's to be
expected with no burnout.

And I won the race.

And that's why we took this chance of
making the path instead of taking the

It's unbelievable, dude, but I wasn't
flustered in the car at all.

I hate that that's something that I'm
starting to get used to.

now is going to be B -Rad, Brad Eglin,

going up against David Gates.

Man, it sucks, man. We were tied with
Dave and them going into the day, and

two of our guys didn't get in, so he's
got five in.

All they had to do was show up, and
they're 20 points ahead of us.

The invitation today, we're out here at
New England Raceway. We're racing for

$40 ,000 today, and, you know, we want
to leave at sole possession of the

championship points for the team. I plan
on going out here today, going rounds,

help my team towards the team
championship, keep moving along, and we

champions at the end of the year.

watching him this year. His car is

Nothing like a little stress. I like it,

B -Rad had a tough draw, and he came

He beat David Gates, and B -Rad took him
out, you know, so I couldn't be happier

about that.

You know, I felt confident going into
that round.

Went out there, the car turned dead

I hit the center cone. That's the first
time I ever hit a cone. But hey, car's

still in one piece. We're going to be
able to give it hell, and when we come

back, we're going to be ready to battle.

I came back and said, everybody's
rattling in the right lane.

Yeah. I took the cone out. Did you
really? Yeah. It turned damn near

Well, I was ready for that line. I don't
know if I left early, but I was shaking

like, I'm going to hit a tree.

That is going to be one of the hardest
things that we could ever probably, if

accomplish beating Kai Kelly first
round.

They might as well skip the rest of the
season. We are not going to let up after

that point.

We're going to continue to go after some
of the top runners.

Dave and his crew better go and hide.

Pretty normal for me.

Drew Kai, he's killing it right now.
He's number two in the points, familiar

place for him.

This is the time to do it because he's
in the top of points. So we need to get

rounds for the team. You know, the
team's struggling.

We have no problem getting all five
racers in, but then we have a problem

getting points after that. So we all
need to go a couple rounds.

John Manning, I know his car is fast.

I've never raced him side -by -side, so
I don't know anything about him.

I hate racing ghost cars, and that's
what he is to me, because I haven't got

chance to watch him run.

I know he's good at tuning. I know he
knows we've got to go as fast as we

we can down this racetrack, and don't
worry about who's in the other lane.

Went up there, took the lights, let go
of the button, never seen Manny.

said he knocked the tires off on the
starting line, but I made a really good

solid pass in a lane that everybody had
been knocking the tires off in, so it's

a good feeling coming out of round one.

All my guys lose except me and B -Rad.

Unfortunately, right now, Manny,
Chuck55, and Jeff Lutz are still

I still have faith in those guys, and I
think that they're going to get their

programs lined out. We took a stab at

motor problems.

But the team stayed up. They tore the
motor down. They fixed it. New turbo.

you're trying to get from race to race

you have issues between races, stress
builds, anxiety builds. Everything that

can go wrong does go wrong. We drew
Larry Larson in round one.

Larry's got a pro -charge deal now
instead of a turbo deal. And in a greasy

track, that's not your friend.

Hopefully we got the boost where we need
it and we get to win. We'll see what

happens.

Where the hell's Joe at?

Race number five. Didn't have to race
our way in this weekend.

We need to keep that going for next
weekend. So bottom line, we still got to

some rounds because we still haven't
done that.

Joe, first round.

So that's a good draw as far as I'm
concerned. So we can finally get fast

round today and then just start laying
down some laps. The sun goes down and it

cools off.

It's going to be a good race. We should
take it.

If everything goes down, it goes smooth.
But like I said, I've watched that car

the last couple of races. This car has
definitely picked up the pace.

Next pair, that's going to be Larry
Larson going up against Dominator.

And Larry Larson wins that drag race.

It was close down there.

I got three in. I only got two in.

There's four more races left here in
round one of New Hampshire, and there's

plenty of fast racers still to come,
including Jim Howe, Damon Merchant,

Musi, and Nate Thaler.

Howe's still trying to get his car back
together after the crash, so he'll be

So I'm going to try to get after it a
little bit.

I feel like if I could just make the
trip, I could outrun him. He's tough,

feel like I got a hot rod right now.

first round. I really ain't got much to

besides going into Tulsa. We're not

is the only driver from his team going
into round two.

Kai's team started off very strong, but
they have started to slip as of late.

Kai's going to have to go some rounds,
going to keep his team in the hunt.

Also, in a slight surprise, Paige
Coughlin and Doc moving on to round two

they took out Robin Roberts and Callie
Mills.

if everything goes right, I think we can

outrun him.

And that's just what we need to do. One
round at a time. We'll get past this

second round coming up and go to third.

going to race the racetrack. I don't

really race the other driver.

So I guess everybody's so close and
competitive.

We've got to do our game no matter what.

It was just after 3 .30, it just bit

Mine were quivering. Yeah, but it went
right on down. It won't go nowhere after

like 300 or 400 feet.

This next pair is a big one. We have the
drivers with the most to prove facing

off against each other as Paige Coughlin
goes against Doc Love.

I know what he's capable of. You know,
he's been on this show and he started as

And then he got pulled up with me this

race. I'm not worried about it. I felt
really good off the tree last lap.

Felt like I killed it up there.

So I'm not worried about it at all. I'm
like, you know what? Just keep your head

in the game. Don't worry about what
they're doing. Just put on your belts

tighten your helmet and just go do your
thing.

Go tell Doc he's okay.

I cut a killer light against Kaylee, and
she was late,

which made me look even worse.

So now the entire field thinks that I'm
guessing the tree and stuff. I didn't

guess. I just hit a killer tree. When
you're a guy like me, if you're a bottom

car, you know you're a bottom car, and
you have to do things to get wins.

That's why we have a tree. That's why we
have to leave off of reaction times. It

gives the slower car a chance to have an
advantage.

And through the right lane, I believe in
the heat of the day, the right lane is

probably a little bit better in the
middle and the end than the left lane.

Round two, I draw Giuseppe.

Giuseppe's been winning races. He's been
going rounds, and he's high up in

points right now. I know he's got a
super fast car.

Round one, we had some problems. The
car's shutting off. It's dying after the

burnout. It's dying before the burnout.
It's dying pulling into the beam.

And once I get up on the two -step and
make the pass, it seems like it's okay.

We came over in between. We changed a
whole bunch of parts. At this point,

just throwing parts at it. We have no
idea what it is to fix it. I had a bad

feeling pulling into the water box. I
knew the car was going to die.

Every pass, it just steady gets worse.
We pull up, and as soon as I hit the

throttle, the car dies.

I tried to do another burnout.

It did just a little tiny burnout.

Same as last time. I'm not losing this
race.

I'm going to go ahead and pull up to the
line and let go of the button and see

what happens.

That hit right there was good. We were
faster.

Drove by him, held him off, and got that

honestly, I think I can outrun anybody

We're getting it fixed. We're about to
fire the injectors, make sure it all

fires. As long as we ain't got no fuel

We were side by side almost the whole
race. My car headed left.

Snatched it back right. It scrubbed up

say that I didn't push my car to the

what helps keep the car in place as

And then this is my go button. This is
the trans brake. So when you see that

green light flash, you let go of this
button, and that's what makes the car

react. The person who drove this prior
to me was the tuner's wife.

So the first time I ever sat in this
car, I'm like, man, this was built for

women to drive.

agree because i feel so comfortable in

this car like i've never felt more
