had it. I suffered from it. There's so

We don't have to suffer in silence.

I really want to know if I need the
surgery, how long do I need to recover

before I try?

So the size and the location is going to
dictate the approach, how we can remove

a fibroid. If the fibroid is in the wall
of the uterus and we have to do

significant dissection, that sometimes
can be up to six months.

Is there any medicine I can take instead
of going the route or eat something?

Most exercise maybe. So there are some
medications that we can use.

However, the majority of medications
that are going to reduce the size of the

fibroids have contraceptive action.

You wouldn't be able to be ovulating and
attempting pregnancy.

Given where we are in our country, I
feel like it's important to talk about

something I went through when I was in
college.

I had just moved into my dorm.

I was about three weeks in.

And I found out I was pregnant.

And I was terrified.

I was alone.

I had no friends. I was too scared to
tell my mom.

So I had an abortion.

I felt horrible.

Like, such a failure.

I think I felt...

So ashamed because it felt like it was
my fault.

Like I should have known better to not
let that happen to myself.

What was that process like for you at
the time? You were 18, you went to

Parenthood. How was that process?

The doctor that was caring for me was
like, there are options.

I felt supported in that moment.

I mean, the fact that I was able to make
a choice.

When did you start telling people in
your life?

I told my mom after a year.

And she, I'm going to cry.

She wished that she could have been
there for me, you know. She was like,

didn't you tell me?

And the most beautiful part about it was
that she said, it happened to me too.

Were you surprised?

It felt like women supporting women.
Like even though she's my mom, like she

wanted me to know. It's happened to me
too, you know.

My dad does not know.

Your dad does not know this? My dad does
not know.

It's going to be a hard conversation.

Will you tell him before? I guess.

I am so nervous to tell my dad,
especially with how much he loves my

on me not.

honestly, like, I don't have words.

I didn't expect that.

I mean, I'm so happy you support me. I

The fact that there's zero judgment on
his face.

is the best part.

So when I told my mom, she started
crying and she said, I had one too.
