The evil is already among us.

The grandson of Kwai Chang Kane walks out of the past.

But I want to fight.

So did your great -grandfather when he was your age.

He teaches his son wisdom at a Shaolin temple.

An evil force destroyed that temple. Father and son each believed the other

perished. Fifteen years later, they were reunited.

Now Cain faced new challenges.

And his son grew up.

We're a team.

I am king.

You are from Shambhala. It has been many years since I was there.

Welcome. We seek a man named Kane.

Our future is in great peril.

Question Kane is here in Chinatown.

Drive like my father.

Excuse

me,

ma 'am. You just cut me off. It was almost an accident. You're mistaken.

I had the right of way.

Not unless there was a flashing red cherry on the top of your car. Now, may

see your driver's license, please?

Are you a cop?

That's right.

Wow.

Are you going to arrest me? I haven't decided yet.

Perhaps I could see some ID.

Kane, 101st Precinct, which happens to be this building right here. Did you

business at this precinct?

Well, I'm starting a new job.

Well, I hope you show some more restraint at that.

Now, may I see the license, please? And could you take it out of the wallet, ma

'am?

Let's wait until I'm 60 for the man.

Sims. Karen Sims. They don't tend to put it on the license, but it's Captain

Karen Sims.

Hey, Ben, wait up.

Oh, boy.

You must be the famous Peter Kane. Strenlake has told me so much about on

telephone.

Well, the chief tends to exaggerate.

Oh, not from what I can see.

I think we'll be talking to each other again later.

Yes, ma 'am.

Captain.

Captain.

It's a nice first impression.

Usually my best. Mm -hmm.

You must be Desk Sergeant Broderick. Captain Sims, welcome to 101st. Thank

I hear you run a solid front line here, Sergeant.

I try to do my best, sir. Uh, ma 'am. Oh, good.

Uh, let me show you around.

I'll tell you one thing. Blaisdell put together one hell of a team here.

I just hope the new captain has the sense to recognize that. Chief, I think

should. Hey, don't get me wrong, Blake. I got nothing against women. Hell, they

were Marines and NAM.

Well, not on the front lines, but... Chief, I got a lot of respect for women.

long as they don't mess with what's working, they don't trip over their own

ambition. It must be Chief Strenick.

Captain Sims.

You can rest assured, Chief, I won't mess with what's working.

And if you find me tripping, it won't be over my own ambition.

But over those not pulling their weight around here... Excuse me.

Good first impression.

Pop? You here?

Well, see, what are you doing here?

Nice talking to you.

Pop? What's going on?

Let him go. Hey, hey, what's happening here?

All right, let him go.

A great dark power is at work.

I can't read anymore.

Read the cards, Ewing.

A key to open the door.

A door to where?

A world beyond this one.

A place of light.

Great mystery.

Power.

An old man.

He guards the door.

One of the learned?

Perhaps. I cannot tell.

There is another man.

Much younger.

He is inexorably bound to the old man.

To you.

You have been summoned.

And all the... The

Dark

Warrior.

Carved crystal.

Chinese, very old.

Didn't drop out of a box of Cracker Jacks unless it was a thousand -year

box of Cracker Jacks.

No wonder.

They still have prizes in those boxes. Kermit, what do you think?

Lovely green hue.

If I did your father's quarters, ask him. He's the Indiana Jones of Chinese

antiquities.

He was taken away by these monks on White Rose.

You couldn't stop them?

No, I tried. My gun got too hot. Then I got thrown against the wall by these

monks that didn't even touch me.

Sounds crazy, doesn't it?

Not to me.

Your father was kidnapped.

Are you talking a new dragon's wing here? It looked like that, but...

And he looked at me, my father, like, stay out of this.

The ancient was there too. Now I can't find him either. But I found this.

Oh, yeah.

These things happen, Peter.

I had a dear John letter from my first wife posthumously. Thought I'd been

killed with blaze down in Afghanistan.

Can you find the symbol for the amulet on there?

I can find anything on there.

Welcome to Shambhala, Kwai Chang Kane.

Your presence gives us hope.

How may I serve you?

The embodiment of an evil presence threatens our kingdom.

We guard it, but we are men of peace.

You wish me to fight this demon?

Yes.

I'm not sure I am capable.

I have never faced such a challenge.

Your survival will be your right of passage.

You will ascend to the level of Shambhala Master.

I shall have to test myself.

You are our last hope.

Our only hope.

The captain wants an update on all of these. Too much crime, not enough being

done about it. A wiretap on the senator's phone. Blake.

That's pushing it.

Evidently, that's the way our new captain likes to play it. Scalini, you

hooker detail on the stem tonight.

Can't you send Jody?

Better belt for it. She's on stakeout in the church robberies. Jim, you're going

undercover in Chinatown. What? Since when? Right now. And the rest of these

belong to you, Detective Kane.

Steve.

I need...
