Sam Carver was trying to make it on his
own, and he was failing.

security system in the house, and he

needed a way around it.

That's why he contacted Gail Wolfer,
because she could get him in the door.

Then he thinks to himself, why should I
give half to Benny Lazaro? Lazaro was

certainly in no position to go to the
police.

Sloan and Clarence were going to be
dead.

That left Gail Wolfer as the one person
who might be able to identify him, and

Mr. Carver took great pains to make sure
that she would never see him.

On the night of the shooting, Sam Carver
was waiting for Susan Claridge to come

home because when she did, he planned to
hold a gun to her head and force Ted

Sloan to give him the money.

Then it would have been a simple matter
to kill the only two witnesses.

But all of his meticulous planning went
south

because Susan Claridge was out picking
up dinner and came home late.

And Gail Wolfer came early.

You heard what happened.

Mr. Condon is right.

Benny Lazara did give Sam Carver the
idea about Ted Sloan's house, but it was

Carver who went in that night and Carver
who pulled the trigger.
