For four incredible seasons, Vikings has
reigned as the biggest, boldest, and

bloodiest show on TV.

And tonight, we are looking ahead to
what you can expect for season five. And

trust me, it is going to get even
crazier. But first, let's get you caught

Season four saw Vikings say goodbye to
some beloved characters, but none were

more shocking than losing the renegade
king of Kattegat, Ragnar Lothbrok.

Ragnar Lothbrok is something special.

The second half of season four, some of
Travis's best work.

Who wants to be king?

You really felt for Ragnar, and the show
has lost its greatest character, I

would say.

But the story that came from that is
just incredible.

Bjorn has huge shoes to fill. I had some
big shoes to fill as well.

Ragnar's sons put aside their
differences, banding together to form

Heathen Army, toppling the Northumbrian
Army and exacting revenge for their

father's brutal demise.

But all was not forgotten as the
brothers celebrated their invasion of

and falsely claimed land.

In a bout of fratricide, the Great
Heathen Army saw the beginning of Ivor's

dark side.

The divide is pretty extreme between the
brothers, obviously, with the death of

their mother.

But Bjorn's loyalty to them has always
been on the condition that they share

same vision as Ragnar did.

I imagine Ivar is not digging it.

No, gosh, no, not at all.

Everyone will always underestimate you.
I think he's motivated like never

before. You must make him pay for it. He
also doesn't think that anybody can

stand in his way.

Be restless.

And back in Kattegat, Lagertha had her
hand full, fending off King Harald, who

got his eye on ruling all of Norway.

Lagertha, yes, the numberless queen of
Kattegat.

She's not a young bird anymore.

Few things, bigger things, darker things
are in the horizon.

She's not over yet.

When we return to the Vikings' world in
season five... Finally, Lagertha is

queen, owning the throne here in the
Great Hall and ruling all of Kattegat.

it hasn't been an easy journey for our
fierce shield maiden. And when I sat

with Catherine Winnick, I learned very
quickly that this queen is as badass off

camera as she is on.

All hail the queen.

It's about time.

Are you ready to sacrifice your life to
appease and honor the gold?

She really, truly feels that she's the
rightful ruler of Kattegat. It's her

home. She grew up there as a farmer and
shield maiden, young mother and an earl.

Now, seeing how Kattegat has evolved and
now it's one of the biggest trading

stations in Norway.

She has some responsibilities. She does.
She does.

And not just responsibilities, but
enemies.

I can never forgive Lakita for murdering
our mother.

I'm glad I'm going to get her.

She's... had enough bloodshed in her
life. She's seen too many battles and

doesn't necessarily want to rule with
revenge.

You can try.

It's a lot of fun just to kick ass. Hell
yeah.

Take charge.

I'm happy to hear it, but I'm also a
little bit sad because, I mean, Oslog

in the back.

You know, Beyonce.

There will be a body count. There will
be some massive killings. Okay.

Nobody's going to be disappointed.

Perfect.

We're, of course, pleased to see that
the story continues with or without

Ragnar. But how will Lagertha move on
now that he's gone?

Ragnar with the gods at his door.

Because he really was and is the love of
her life. Am I right? He is.

You've seen season four where she's now,
she had Astrid as...

her companion lover, but we have a very
exciting new cast in season five.

Jonathan Rhys -Myers plays Bishop
Heckman.

And Bishop's date?

See, that's actually part of the thing.

Hasn't found an intellectual match in a
very long time, probably since Ragnar,

and I think the relationship with Bishop
Heckman, who Jonathan plays, is

definitely one that challenges her
mentally and stimulates her mind.

town that was just recently sacked by

the Vikings.

Now, this is the fourth time ET Canada
has had the pleasure of traveling to

Ireland's ancient east.

But for me, it's a first. Yes, I am a
Vikings virgin on a quest to rule the

Zuleika, who has been doing hair on this
show since day one, is going to give me

my shield maiden name, right? I'm going

Were you a fan of the Viking series? I
didn't watch it. I don't watch it. Not

episode. I cannot know what's happening
in the Viking world that I wouldn't have

known as Hekman.

watch the series.

Why do you take on this role?

Because of the duality to him.

He's a bishop and a warrior.

He's a warrior before he's a bishop.

unpredictable, very fierce in battle. I
do a lot of my battle stuff on horseback

because I ride a lot.

Does he love more fiercely than he
fights?

One informs the other. He fights
fiercely if he loves fiercely.

He started off fighting for Christ, and
then he met someone in the Viking world,

and he started fighting for her.

Bishops you don't assume will have love
interests.

He's obviously one that doesn't follow
the rules.

That's what makes him complicated.
Otherwise, he's just a bishop. And we

Who gets the most excited to film a love
scene?

I'd say probably the younger dudes as

I would have liked to have been here for
season one. I think that would have

been more of a bacchanal, to be honest
with you. You know what I mean? I just

get nervous.

Welcome back to Vikings, a new world
with ET Canada.

By now, you probably have a pretty good
sense of what to expect when Vikings

invades our lives yet again.

But after spending all this time on set
with a bunch of Norsemen, I could not

walk away empty -handed. So I told the
cast that I am not leaving Ireland

without major Season 5 insight.

And they delivered.

Bjorn never had aspirations to be king.
He's had aspirations to explore and

conquer new worlds and set up new
settlements.

Tell me about the excitement of visiting
places like Morocco.

Fighting in 45 degrees is no joke.

It's crippling.

Vikings on Camelot in the sunshine, you
know, in a totally different world than

you'd expect. It's pretty incredible.

And it's a good thing Bjorn is setting
sail because Ivor is finding his footing

as a leader, teasing trouble for the
great heathen army.

There is going to be a war.

Ivor becomes consumed by the idea of
power. Can we expect moments between

and Ivor? It feels like these two are
going to come head to head. They

absolutely will. A civil war can only
bring tragedy.

If we would have had two or three more
episodes together, we would have killed

each other.

Ivor being the youngest, trying to
compensate every single day for Steve.

And Bjorn being naturally the two -wear,
Bjorn has a little bit of trouble

accepting the fact that Ivar is
brilliant and he can bring something

to the table.

The distance between them just keeps
expanding.

There's going to be a lot more struggle
within the actual group.

Uwe goes towards his family and all,
like, settling down, all the things that

Ragnar wanted to do. Ivar is completely
sick and fainting and being an absolute

idiot.

Everyone is with me.

It is because of the fact that I was so
ruthless and really doesn't give a

damn about them.

I truly want to be your equal, but in
order for me to do so, I have to do

than you.

How much of this motivation is going to
push him toward taking out Lagertha? Oh,

everything. That is main goal.

I will support you against Ivan.

There is a big scene that's coming up
that the scare confirms that there might

be some havoc going on with one of the
sons.

You have only seen the beginning of the
end.

The consequences of Ragnar's death are
not yet played out.

Catherine and I are talking about it a
little bit. She won't really admit that

it's going to happen. If it happens.

It's going to be huge, and I know that
Catherine demands that, and I would

demand that as well.

But while the Vikings are divided, the
English are taking advantage, with King

Athelred leaving the swamps to reclaim
Wessex with their secret weapon, Bishop

Heschmund. He's going to have to reclaim
Wessex and fight for Wessex and fight

for his kingdom.

But then Rhys Meyers comes into the
fray, and he presents a bit of a threat,

because the bishop is a leader in his
own right. We have a plan of attack.

We do.

With your permission.

We should wait. He's proud to see that
one of his own countrymen is on board.

But I think there may be an air of
passive aggression there.

But as the battles go on and the
decisions that have been made, I think

an air of respect there as well.

The wait is almost over for season five
of Vikings, of course.

The fate of our warriors is all in the

promised me that season five is going to
