And the sonar even confirmed that it is denser than anything

else around it.

Not only that, but before my dive gear went all haywire

down there, my metal detector was going nuts.

It appears that there's something massive and metallic

right where our witness said a UFO crashed into the lake.

is the first we've heard that directly associates

the Hessdalen lights with alien creatures.

To dig more into his astonishing claim,

we start our night's investigation

on his cabin property.

I believe him that he saw something, I believe him he saw

creatures, I just don't think they're alien creatures.

My guess is, I mean, think of what else is this tall

was bipedal, long arms, long legs, and an oval head.

Yeah, but remember, this guy came here looking

With that kind of mindset, your brain can literally tell

you that you are seeing aliens.

We went to the White Box, and what did we see?

Saw some lights in the sky.

And when we went to the lake, what did we find?

Something unusual at the bottom of the lake.

Exactly.

So, Hessdalen Valley has a really good track record.

I'll give you that.

And listen, I'm optimistic

we could find something tonight.

I'm just not so sure it's gonna be aliens.

I mean, we are in the Norwegian wilderness, and there,

look, tracks, tracks right there!

There could be snowmobiles. There could be cars going by.

Some of them are tall, skinny, moving in pairs.

[Heather] OK, I mean, if they're moving quickly, but that looks

like a dozen creatures, not just two.

there was a moving light--

heck, even called a Hessdalen light,

that cast a shadow across four trees that looked

like two sets of long legs walking across the road.

[Heather] Yeah, but I don't think someone that lives out here

is gonna make that mistake.

you're gonna be real surprised when you see an alien tonight.

Let's head into Hessdalen Valley.

[Phil] We leave the trail cameras running in the area Helge saw

the supposed alien creatures and make our way down to

the river, where he says he saw the light phenomenon earlier

that same night.

You can already hear the river.

Visibility is maybe 20, 30 feet, so we have no idea...

what could be right in front of us.

We're trying to be stealthy, so whatever's out here,

it won't hear us coming.

So, now that we're in the heart of Hessdalen Valley,

we should get out a thermal drone.

An aerial view might make it a little bit easier to get eyes

on what's out here.

Yeah, maybe we'll see some creatures.

Question is, do aliens show up hot or cold?

Let's find out.

[Heather] While Phil preps the thermal drone,

I calibrate the EMF meter,

which measures changes in the electromagnetic field.

We've got a good baseline reading.

When we were at the White Box, during our first night in

Hessdalen, we got an EMF spike in the control room.

EMF is spiking. We're at 104 right now.

Which seemed to coincide with the Hessdalen light showing up.

Hopefully, it'll give us a heads-up

if any activity returns.

[Phil] That is weird. I've never seen that before.

Gotta check this out. Look.

Magnetic field interference. Fly with caution.

- There's something in the air. - Something weird here.

So I'm trying to see if there's any heat

showing up on land.

So something's already interfering with the drone?

This must be one of the old mines.

It feels like something drew us here.

This potentially could be one of the reasons

for the magnetic interference I was getting.

You know, when I met with Dr. Anna-Lena

from the White Box, she told me that this river is

potentially part of that big chemical reaction that makes this thing a battery.

We got iron on one side, we got copper on the other,

and then it's sulfur

that leaches through the water in here.

Those elements could be creating the lights in the sky.

It could explain everything.

A lot of people say that these beings are in Hessdalen Valley

for rare elements.

In there is where the resources are, and in there is where

you should go. - Sorry, what?

Look, you were driving the drone, and admit it,

This could be the geophysical reason why all of these lights

insights from those who have seen the Hessdalen lights.

who we met at our town hall.

- [Mathias] Oh, welcome to Norway. - [Phil] Yeah.

All right. Hey, good to see you again.

Good to see you. Let's get you inside and get you warm.

[Phil] Let's do it.

Mathias is an anthropologist who raises huskies on the side

for a local dog sled team.

So, Mathias, we heard a bit of your story at the town hall.

I would love to get more details because we've been here

for a few days, and I gotta say, it seems like there's

something strange going on here.

So tell me, what were you doing in Hessdalen Valley?

OK.

Describe it.

Mm-hmm.

Both of these lights originated from

essentially the same place?

Where is that?

[Heather] While Phil is getting a local's point of view,

I'm gonna explore other methods for finding

the Hessdalen lights.

So I hop on a call with Carl Andreasen,

who has a very interesting communication theory.

Carl is an American UFO researcher who recently

recorded a light in the sky

above Hessdalen that kept getting closer.

And shockingly, he believes he was able to talk with it.

Carl, thank you so much for jumping on with me.

I got to say, your video was incredible.

It was totally shocking.

The first night that I was there at Hessdalen,

we decided to stay up to look at the northern lights.

And we did an experiment with this meditation.

And sure enough, right after we did that, this bright light

appeared in the sky and then came down by the lake.

[Heather] Wait a second. Meditation?

Explain how that works.

Every single abduction story that I have ever read about

has involved telepathic communication.

And so that is a critical part of my work and research

and what I do when I go to these places to try and see if

there's something to that.

If you can use it like chumming for sharks or bird calling in

a similar way, but do it through a form of telepathy,

I'm very experimental and open-minded with that,

and it's successful.

So, I come from a paranormal background.

I do a lot of call-and-response sessions,

so I'm wondering if I can get into this meditative state

and stay positive and open to communication that I can

call-and-response session, where I can ask questions

It's very similar to that.

One of the things that I've found that's a subtle trick

to how this seems to work,

making sure that your intentions inside

are not hoping, or wanting, or asking for too much.

There's something about letting go, and just trusting,

and being happy, and being in a good mood

that somehow is more inviting.

We just have to keep an open mind.

OK, so number one, find the right location.

Number two, meditate.

And number three, stay calm and positive the whole time

that I'm interacting, and that'll give me the best

chance to experience these lights again.

And remember to hit record and get it on camera,

and you'll get the proof that you're looking for.

I cannot explain what that is.

So after talking to Mathias, I figured the best place for us

to investigate is the origin of the lights.

He saw them come from the far side of the lake, so that's

where we're going.

Dog sledding is known to be much more reliable than

snowmobiles over long distances

in deep snow conditions like this.

So Mathias kindly hooked us up with a pack of

his fastest huskies.

Reaching speeds of 25 miles an hour...

- [Heather] I could get used to this. - [Phil] Oh, yeah.

...we should be at the site

where Mathias had his encounter in no time.

- [indistinct] - [laughing]

Whoa! Oh...

not a lot of shocks on a sleigh.

Big right!

- Oh [bleep]! - [screaming]

- [Heather] Whoa! - Didn't break.

- [Heather] That was a close one. - [Phil] Yeah.

[Phil] If we can manage to stay upright, these dogs will

take us to the northern shore of Lake Djupsjoen,

where I dove earlier.

That's where Mathias believes the lights he saw originated.

Whoo-hoo-hoo!

Grab the gear, and I'll give the dogs their treats.

These types of dogs are well adapted

to the coldest of temperatures.

They have a robust, thick, and weather-resistant coat.

After a good workout like they just had, they'll happily

stay put for hours

while we investigate Mathias's sighting.

Whew! This looks perfect.

According to Mathias, the lights he saw essentially

originated from right where we are right now.

[Heather] OK, so set up camp here.

[Phil] Set up camp here.

Wait, why do we need a shovel? Where's the tent?

Oh, we're building a snow fort, Heather.

Why is everything so hard with you?

Start digging.

- It's gonna take a while. - Hm.

[Phil] There's no telling when or if a mystery light will show up.

So, to prepare for a long night's stay

by the frozen lake,

we're going to use all this snow to our advantage

and build a shelter.

All right.

We need to find some sticks about a foot long.

All right. You got those sticks?

Yeah, what are they for? Snowmen?

[Phil] Not exactly.

So, this type of snow fort is called a quinzhee.

And you see how all these sticks are about the same

length, about one foot? - Yeah.

That is how thick we want the exterior wall.

So, you stab it, facing towards the inside, like so.

Perfect.

And when we hollow it out, once you see the end of

the stick, you know you stop, and you have

your one-foot exterior wall that will keep us nice and warm.

[Heather] Whoa, whoa, whoa, Phil!

[Phil] What?

[Heather] Something just shot across the sky!

[Phil] What?

- [Heather] Like, big. - [Phil] Are you kidding me?

Like a high-beamed flashlight.

Just the edge of it, like a spotlight,

- Did you just see a light? - Picked a great spot.

I'm gonna keep digging this out.

I'm gonna keep eyes on the sky.

And then let's set up our gear because that is a good sign.

- We're already seeing lights. - [Heather] Yeah.

So there are a few details to pay attention to

when building this kind of a snow fort.

One thing, you want it to be domed like this so that as

the snow melts, because it warms up in here, it doesn't

drip on you, but it trickles down the sides a little bit.

Secondly, you want the entry and exit point to be at

the lowest point so that all the cold air goes down there

and the warm air stays up here.

When we deployed the DAP camera

at the White Box Observatory,

it worked out well for us. - [Heather] Look at this!

Holy [bleep].

[Phil] So it'll monitor the skies for us again tonight.

So this here is the DAP cam,

which stands for data acquisition project.

It uses AI to track and identify anything flying

around in the night sky.

And tonight, hopefully that includes the Hessdalen lights.

Let's take a look at the DAP cam.

It is up and running.

[Heather] All right, I've got a couple of ideas.

You know how people say that the Hessdalen phenomenon

can mimic the lights that are on the ground?

Yeah.

It was flashing, but it doubled

the flashing frequency.

You think it mimicked your light?

Some kind of interaction.

I think we need to try it.

What if this form of mimicry is some type of communication?

- To see lights, I brought lights. - OK.

You ever seen "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"?

OK.

- I know you're skeptical. - Yep.

That's why I brought some science for you.

So my witness, Carl, believed he communicated with these

lights, but he did it when he was in a meditative state.

I brought a biometric sensor so you can keep track of the state

of my mind.

keep track of your brain, and I'll keep my eyes peeled

I find a quiet spot by the lake

where I can try a meditative call-and-response session,

similar to the method Carl Andreasen described.

A biometric headband will send my vitals over to Phil

so he can track my brain activity.

Meanwhile, Phil will be sending powerful LED signals to

whatever may be creating the Hessdalen lights.

No one here has ever attempted

a light experiment of this scale.

These lights are bright enough that anything flying within

a couple miles of here should be able to see them.

I'm gonna cycle through a few different colors,

a few different patterns, and keep my eyes open.

I think these lights are more than just a natural phenomenon.

Well, so far, the only light I'm seeing in the sky

is the moonlight.

But now, according to Heather's biometric sensor,

she is in a deep meditative state.

It's tracked her progress throughout the night.

So it started active, slowly got to a more relaxed

state, and then took a dip. It went straight down to calm.

On December 9th, 2009, a strange light in the skies

above northern Norway terrified locals

and captivated the world.

Just before sunrise, an eerie beam of blue light

shot across the sky, quickly twisting into

a bizarre spiral.

Some even reported feeling a sudden wave of nausea

right before the spiral appeared.

The light pulsed ominously as it grew larger,

leading some to believe it was aliens making contact or maybe

an interdimensional portal in the sky.

The mystery was debated for over a decade, until the exact

same phenomenon occurred after military rockets

were test-fired over Hawaii and Alaska--

the spiraling caused by fuel vapor.

It's now seemingly certain that the Norway spiral was not

evidence of alien contact, but instead a rocket test,

likely a secret one conducted by Russia.

Explainable, but arguably no less terrifying.

So I think we have a case of real mimicry.

So I got to ask, when I would look at your biometric data,

it looked like you were very much in a meditative state.

What was going through your mind when the light showed up?

Look, I was just trying to stay as calm

and meditative as possible.

So I was seeing lights and acknowledging them,

but trying to make sure and not get too excited

so they wouldn't disappear. - Well, hey.

I don't know what the cause of seeing these lights is.

as I believe, this mysterious scientific phenomenon known as

the Hessdalen effect. Regardless, that was amazing!

[Josh] Heather and Phil continued to monitor the skies above

Hessdalen throughout the almost endless night.

[Josh] In between shifts in their snow shelter,

and regular checking on the huskies,

their vigilance paid off,

catching another mysterious light streaking across the sky.

The DAP cam only records in black and white,

but according to Phil, the light had a distinct

reddish hue and didn't appear like any known craft.

Right up there, really quick little flash.

[Heather, yelling] Look at this!

[Josh] All told, Heather and Phil spotted

10 unexplained aerial lights during their investigation.

[Phil] Wait, I see two!

[Josh] And shockingly, there was even one more they didn't spot,

but was later discovered in our footage.

Phil believes the Hessdalen Valley's unique minerals are

motivating this phenomenon somehow.

But that's a long way from a scientific explanation.

Plus, minerals wouldn't explain the curious color mimicry that

they and others experienced.

[Josh] Our remarkable evidence

didn't just come from high in the sky.

It also came from the watery depths.

Our ROV sub captured scans in Lake Djupsjoen, where a UFO was

widely reported to have crashed in 1947.

The images confirmed the extraordinary.

According to expert analysis,

there is indeed a massive metal object

down at the bottom of the lake, about the size

and shape of a school bus.

Even more remarkable, this is only the tip of the object.

It seemingly extends even deeper beyond the limits

of our scanner.

Could this really be the unthinkable?

A crashed alien spacecraft?

We plan to return to investigate further as soon as possible.

My team and I have hunted UFOs all around the globe.

[Josh] But with all of this extraordinary evidence,

we can confidently say there's nowhere as surprisingly

out of this world as the Hessdalen Valley.
