The case files from
Ed and Lorraine Warren.

paranormal investigators,

the Warrens,
helped the Perron family,

who believed
that they were being attacked

by a demonic spirit
at their home

in Rhode Island in the 1970s.
And here's the kicker.

Apparently, it's still
happening today.

Please tell me
we're not talking demons

jumping off closets.

Well, we kind of are, actually.

There's a family who lives
on the property now called

the Boylans, and they claim
that they are dealing with

the exact same kind
of paranormal activity

that afflicted the Perrons
50 years ago.

And since the Warrens are
sadly no longer with us,

they've turned
to "Expedition X" for help.

In the sleepy, rural town
of Harrisville, Rhode Island,

the Perron family moves into
the historic Arnold farmhouse.

Roger and Carolyn,
plus their five daughters

expect a quiet life.

What they get instead is
one of the most haunted houses

in America.

Within a week,
the family begins experiencing

unexplainable horror.

Objects moving on their own,
hearing the impossible sound

of crying-- and even seeing
disturbing apparitions.

And much worse is to come.

Carolyn soon becomes the target
of physical attacks

by what the family
comes to believe

is a malevolent entity.

to one of the most famous

haunted houses in the world,

and your house itself seems

to have a lot going on.

strange experiences

are y'all experiencing?

[Patrick] Shadow figures.

Things moving or getting thrown.

So where are y'all having
experiences around the house?

I hear footsteps all the time
up in the attic,

which is now my bedroom.

There's a crawl space,
and you'll just hear footsteps

at least two
or three times a day.

- I've opened
the doors to it, but--
- Ever crawled in?

I'm never gonna go in there.

had activity in the house?

The basement.

I spend 12 hours a day down
there in my guitar repair shop.

At least once a day,
something happens.

...on more than one occasion.
It was pretty terrifying.

the table,

you can hear it moving.

One of the craziest,
probably, most terrifying things

that's happened since I've been
here took place in the bedroom.

Middle of the night, 3:00,
this woman came to me

over the bed.
She was floating two feet

in front of my face.
She was trying to grab me.

I knew it wasn't a dream
because I woke up

with human bite marks.

Has anyone else had
any sort of violent attack?

I was working on the computer
on his side of the bed,

and then I felt like
a burning sensation,

and I had a scratch
on my neck.

- That's the same spot
that you were?
- Yes.

Did these happen
near the same time?

I would say within a week apart?

Yes.

Do you have
any physical evidence?

Do you have any recordings,
any photos, any videos?

I took photos of our bedroom
before and after

I painted the walls.

And on the mirror,
you could clearly see

it looked like a face.

on who could be haunting

It could potentially have
something to do with next door.

So, what is the connection
between this house

and the "Conjuring" house?

Well, at one point,
it was an Arnold Farm.

There was about 200 acres here.

So this foundation
to this house,

there was a section
where it's all stone.

So the foundation of the house
is older than the house itself.

- Yes.
- It may date back
to the Arnold farmhouse.

[Patrick] Yes.

That would be
my only explanation

for anything that happens here.

Has anyone had any experiences
in the land

in between the houses?
- We hear children laughing...

...behind the houses,
towards the water in the woods.

If you truly believe
all of this is happening,

why do you stay here?
- This is where I grew up,

and I just feel
attached to this place.

I don't want to move.

I feel the opposite, actually.

There's times I just want
to move away, just to get away,

start over kind of thing.

But I can't.

I mean, I can't obviously
leave everyone.

We're kind of at a loss.
Like, we don't know...

actually, what to do
at this point.

Like, things have
just been escalating.

their home over to us

for the next 48 hours,
desperate for us to find out

exactly what's happening
on their property.

First, we set up surveillance
cameras in all the rooms

where the family reported
paranormal activity.

The main bedroom,
where Patrick was bitten

violently scratched.

The attic, where Kyler hears
footsteps in the crawl space.

where the table apparently

the Warrens used

in their ghost hunting, back

in our investigations,

their investigations.

He looked like
a middle-aged man.

He appeared to me as solid
as you, and he looked

right through me.

from the first moment
you stepped into that house,

you saw a spirit.

Yes, and the energy,
around that property is

off the charts.
So terrifying.

Did y'all experience
any violent activity

before the Warrens got there?
- Yes.

There were several incidents
that could have claimed lives.

The first time my mother was
attacked was about maybe

two weeks after we had moved in.

This is the object that almost
claimed my mother's life.

what to make of it.

This is the Annabelle doll.

Crazy because
it looks innocent,

but it's not innocent.

It has done some
horrible things to people.

The real-life Annabelle doll,
which supposedly sliced someone

open in the '70s,
then caused a priest

to nearly die in a car crash,

sits across from
its film prop counterpart.

It's just one of many
strange items in the museum.

There's also a summoning mirror
that supposedly drove

a New Jersey man insane
in the 1980s,

and a satanic worship
idol that Tony claims

put Lorraine into
a catatonic state

for three days in 1991.

Did Ed and Lorraine ever share
details with you

about the "Conjuring" house?

Oh, the "Conjuring" house,
yeah, of course.

So, we're here
because we're investigating

the house next door.
- Mm-hmm.

It is actually part
of the original Arnold farmhouse

property, and the family
that lives there is terrified,

and they're feeling like
they need help.

What do you think
Ed and Lorraine

would say about that?

Well, I think they would try
to help them if they were here.

I'd say it's probably linked

to the original
"Conjuring" house,

if it's the same property,
because the demonic

doesn't have any boundaries.

Ed used to call it
"the bewitched farmhouse,"

because they were called in
by several people to do

an exorcism of the house.

So you can actually do
an exorcism of a property?

Lorraine immediately felt
something bad in the house.

She knew there was problems
going on in the house.

She felt scared in the house.

So the Warrens show up
to the house,

and they, they quickly recognize
something is wrong here.

What was their solution?

Well, they had a seance
in the house, you know.

That was their big mistake.

Tell me what happened
the night of the seance.

It was very short.

The Warrens had asked
my mother's permission

because Mrs. Warren said that
my mother was being oppressed.

Well, what we saw that night
was she conjured the spirits.

It was like she threw open wide
the doors to the netherworld

and invited everyone in,
so that she could determine

who was causing the problem
in the house.

My mother...

put her neck down, I mean,
she wrapped herself into a ball

to the extent that you would
expect to hear bones breaking...

...and she started to growl.

And my mom threw her head back

and howled like a banshee,
and then started speaking

in a language that does not
exist on this planet.

Oh, goodness.

And then her chair
started to levitate.

And she was...

It wasn't Mom.
It wasn't Mom.

She was being infested.

She was being attacked,
and the chair lifted

off the floor, and then,
in a split second,

she was thrown in the chair,
20 feet into the parlor,

and her head hit the floor,
and everyone in that house

thought they had just
seen my mother die.

Including you.

- That's horrific.
- It was awful.

I've never seen my father
that angry.

He threw everyone
out of the house.

Mrs. Warren was shaking.
Her whole body was shaking.

The medium was passed out
unconscious on the table.

The priest was standing over in
the corner of the room shaking.

So they didn't close the ritual?

They never closed the ritual.

It was a very dark energy.

I don't know if the house
was cleared.

Maybe it moved right next door.

things that happened

when we lived at the farm was
when my baby sister, April,

God rest her soul, um

went for a walk in the woods
near the creek that comes down

between the houses.

And she came running back
to the house, and she's like,

"Mom, Mom, I met so many kids.

There were so many of them."

And my mother, knowing that
the property was haunted,

that there was activity
all over the property,

immediately sat my little sister
down at the table

and said,
"Tell me everything."

- So, she heard
children's voices?
- She saw them.

You know, that is incredible,
because the two boys

of the Boylan family have heard
children's voices in the woods.

Because they come back to play.

[Heather] Wow.

to the creek that runs

behind both houses,

for the strange sounds heard

Meet Annabelle.
The Warrens' case files claim

that in 1970, a woman
referred to as Donna

receives
a Raggedy Ann doll as a gift.

Donna believes the doll moves
around her apartment

on its own.

She goes to a psychic who says
it's inhabited by the spirit

of a girl named Annabelle.
But then things turn violent.

Donna's friend is allegedly
attacked by the doll,

leaving behind seven claw marks.

The Warrens investigate
and say Annabelle isn't

possessed by a girl,

but by a demon trying to seize
a human soul.

The Warrens lock up
Annabelle within

a protective case inside
their occult museum,

where it remains to this day.

The story of this demonic doll
is the inspiration

for the "Annabelle" film series.

the stuff of legend,

take a very disturbing turn.

...finishing the sacred exorcism
ritual in the Boylans' basement,

where Dad, Patrick,
says he was attacked.

I was pushed down the stairs
on more than one occasion.

to be the main target

of the evil entity said to be
haunting the house,

to bring him back

while investigating the truth
of "The Conjuring,"

it seems the priest's actions
were more than justified.

Descending into the basement,
Phil and our cameras caught

a mystery flash on the stairs.

A review of our surveillance
footage showed no explanation

for the strange
and sudden light.

First, there was the shriek
they heard in the woods.

was not the scream

of a ghostly child,

of an everyday blue jay.

from inside the house

were not so easily explained.

Analyzing the recording made
in Patrick and Sherry's bedroom,

Heather was able to identify
over 20 distinct voices.

More than she'd ever
encountered in one session.

much more disturbing activity

from this session
to be discovered.

In addition to the eerie shadow
figure Phil's vintage camera

caught in the mirror...

This really looks like
the silhouette of a person.

For six frames exactly,
in the same corner of the room

where Phil also photographed
the anomaly, you can see

the distinct shape of a figure.

We confirmed that this could
not be a shadow cast by Phil

or any member of the crew.

Whether or not Father Bob's
exorcism has put an end

to the curse of "The Conjuring,"

only time and the Boylans
will tell.

For now, at least, it seems
this brave family has gained

something truly precious, hope.

This is the first night
in weeks,

probably I slept
