[Episode 26]

Do you smell it?

Something is burned.

Stop.

These are the file photos about the previous detriment of Seastar Administration.

It's the same as what happened to your home.

It seems there is a new force joining in Ye Zun's camp.

They took the risk of being encountered by you, breaking into your home in person.

What are they looking for?

I think I understand. I am a student of Professor Zhou who's working for Seastar Administration.

They came here for the experiment results.

A pity that they went back empty-handed.

I really want to know what they are researching about,

but they are our superiors.

We can't meddle in their affairs.

All right, just do our own business.

[Case Investigation Data]

There is a strong likelihood that these cases may be linked to the Master of the Merit Brush.

Same sentiments.

Everyone has gone to look for relative documents separately.

I have a hunch.

They will begin a new campaign very soon.

I had watched Dong Nan grow from childhood.

She was eccentric early on.

Compared with the rise of the Demi-humans,

she was more interested with a human's way of living.

Needless to say,

I understand bereavement.

Why didn't you show yourself earlier

to see that boy?

Because it doesn't mean anything.

I knew you wouldn't kill him.

Leaving him to stall for time

is more beneficial for our plan, isn't it?

I remember you've been friendly with him.

Not just him, but every member of Special Investigations

had contact with me before.

But there are no friends to me now.

Only enemies and people who get in my way.

How is the process of choosing new candidates?

I have found one already

who shares the same goal with me.

But I need to observe her longer,

because I am not sure

whether we can control her or not.

Where is Lin Jing?

He said if you mentioned him,

he has represented our team in joining a Spiritual Civilization Communication work.

Wang Zhen, record it.

Deducting his next month's bonus as well.

It is well-known that

Seastar is a dynamic structure.

The latest crust exploration

used virtual scenery media technology

to introduce to us the millions of years of evolutionary law here in Seastar.

Stop talking about the crust.

I like space more.

Also, what you said is the same as the self-service tour guide.

Did I?

This is the third time for us to bump into each other, right?

Yes. Kind of destined.

I didn't expect to meet you here again.

I thought...

Excuse me. I'd like to go to the toilet.

Wait for me for a while.

I planned to get rid of her for a long time.

But both of our names are registered in our conjugal properties.

I can't leave the marriage without any property, right?

Don't speak that loud.

As long as she doesn't exist anymore,

won't you be able to get both person and wealth?

I think it's you who's getting both the person and the wealth.

Where do you plan to go next?

It's time for me to perform.

I need to go to work, too.

How about exchanging our phone numbers?

You can come to see my performance tonight.

Sure! Sure!

All right, I'm going.

- Let's keep in touch.- Okay.

Hello.

All set.

My dear wife.

Did you prepare all of these?

Happy anniversary, dear.

Have a seat.

Daqian, why waste so much money?

It's not a waste.

It's romantic.

Cheers.

Dear, I have some words to say to you.

Go ahead.

Thank you for handling the domestic affairs

and managing the finances for so many years.

Daqian.

Dear, I have some more to say.

Yes?

Thanks for leaving me early

and returning my freedom.

What do you mean?

Hey, what are you thinking?

Why did you bring a girl to listen to your love sing?

Are you crazy?

We only met for several times and haven't even matched our birthdates yet.

If I came here alone,

it would be really awkward.

Not reserved.

Unbelievably, you know how to be reserved.

Now, you don't need me to be the third wheel, right?

What the hell is wrong about this bank?

At that time I looked back,

I saw her staring at me,

then I fainted.

It seems you did it too lightly.

It's impossible. I've checked it all the way through.

She was dead indeed.

Who are you looking for?

We are from Seastar Administration.

We received an anonymous report with sufficiently detailed evidence

proving that you were involved in a financial fraud several years ago.

Please come with us to assist with the investigations.

It's my wife.

It must be her.

You asked her to meet me.

If you have something, we can talk about it later.

Go ahead.

Please!

Zheng Daqian kept emphasizing that he killed his wife,

so how come his wife appeared again?

Mr. Zheng, we are not able to execute your transfer request.

Mrs. Da Ji has cashed out the same amount of money just now with your authorization.

If there is something wrong with the authorization, please immediately call

the police or ask for help from lawyers.

And when we were investigating his wife, we discovered that her IDs were all fake.

More interestingly, for the past 10 years here in Dragon City,

there were two missing body cases,

and the dead were all young ladies looking extremely similar to the dead victim in this case.

After so many years, her age hadn't changed.

Behind this, is it the distortion of humanity or the corruption of morals?

I am currently analyzing an odd case.

Have a look, okay?

Give me some respect.

What is the odd point?

Explain it clearly.

Ac… tua… lly, nothing.

Thinking about it again, it might be a trick.

I'm afraid that the point that the Master of Merit Brush plans to act on this time

would be this trick.

Good job, Lin Jing. Another merit for you.

Really? Any bonus?

Of course not.

Old Chu, everyone is investigating the case about Zheng Daqian.

Why were we sent here separately?

Chief Zhao said that this case is closely related to the real identity of the Master of Merit Brush.

What are you guys mumbling about? Are you buying or not?

Excuse me, auntie.

Did something bad happen here during the eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival?

Mid-Autumn Festival Eve? Mid-Autumn Festival Eve...

I remember now.

There was a traffic accident that night.

- Traffic accident? - Yes.

- Did you see it in person? - Of course.

Not only did I see it, but I also took a picture of it as well.

Taxi!

See? Am I right?

What's more, I'd taken courageous actions that night.

It's me who brought her to the hospital.

I feel like I'll soon get incorporated into your Special Investigation Unit.

I am a great whistleblower

and you're just asking me to search this gossip?

There is no other way. It takes too much time if we find the reporters one by one.

You just need to look for the photos with the dead lady.

[Analyzing photos]

This one.

They are really the same person!

It's impossible.

This one looks like at most 20 +.

It doesn't match the age of Zheng Daqian's wife.

Nothing is weird.

Plastic surgery is so popular.

What's wrong?

Nothing.

She just feels familiar.

This woman I found is named Da Ji.

She was at a dating agency of Dragon City half a day ago

posting a marriage-seeking ad.

If the old doesn't go, the new will not come.

I think she was seriously heartbroken by her ex.

It seems Da Qing, you are the best one to do this mission.

Why must it be me?

Look at that. Ideal partner

should be outgoing, no limitation for height,

better younger than her, and cat style is preferred!

This is you, isn't it?

[Dragon City Blind Date; Early Spring]

Why are you not eating anything?

Come on.

You are so cute.

Curiously, we just met each other,

but it feels like we've known each other for a long time.

Yes.

No. No.

I feel a little drunk.

You just drank a cup of water.

The water won't intoxicate, but the drinker can get herself drunk.

How about accompanying me to hang around?

Why do you look so happy?

It's too tiring to pretend to be a mature woman.

Smile when happy, scream when sad.

That's how cats really are.

You like cats?

So do I!

Did you come to catch me?

Come on.

If you don't come to catch me,

I'd also come to catch you.

Don't come closer!

Dageda. (Literally means big, big brother; but colloquially used to refer to the old huge cellphones)

Don't you remember me?

I am Da Ji.

Da Ji?

Yep, I remember you, Da Ji.

Our names are kind of matching.

It's not about matching! You are perfunctory to me.

You have definitely forgotten me!

Sure enough, something's wrong with you!

Stop using your phone!

If you can't remember me, let me remind you of something!

Have you also forgotten the skills of a cat?

Who once said that he didn't want to be a pet cat sitting and waiting to die?

Why are you just staying there? Come on and save me!

Well, as you are fighting with a girl, how can I step in?

Humans are not your friends!

But I am. Remember me! Quickly!

The Cat Tribe is rare among the Demi-humans.

Not the worldling, why demean yourself?

Come back with us.

Stop it. I don't want to hurt you.

All right. Say, if you two want to fight, why must—

You humans, don't step in the business of our Cat Tribe!

Da Ji!

Wake up please!

Wake up!

Stop shaking.

She's dead.

Dead?

No way...

Boss, that cat girl is on the examination bed.

Let me check her.

It's none of your business.

Come here. Watch these videos.

If I didn't get it wrong,

the owner of the Merit Brush must be one of them.

I called the taxi first! Ignore her.

Just get in.

Isn't that Zheng Daqian?

The man who was recently arrested by Seastar Administration.

Chief Zhao, there is a photo here.

I've zoomed in the photo. The plate number is N8338.

It's the same as Zhu Hao's car.

From the perspective in the photo,

it's easy to make an illusion that this is a hit-and-run rampage.

The driver Zhu Hao,

although he didn't hit and run,

he indeed caused the pregnant woman to fall down.

By the clothes and time,

it should be the same woman.

What a coincidence.

Two victims are connected with this.

Not just two.

This is what I copied from the hospital.

The pregnant woman...

just died like that?

You mean the owner of the Merit Brush is... avenging for the pregnant woman?

A corpse of two lives.

Intense and deep-seated hatred.

Isn't it reasonable?

But it still doesn't make sense.

The victims in the aging case have no relationship with this pregnant woman.

Do you remember the only dead Wang Qun in the aging case

just happen to be making deliveries in Guangming Road during the Reunion Festival Eve.

At the Reunion Festival Eve, what exactly happened in Guangming Road?

Wait… Wait a minute.

I initially wasn't sure,

but this pregnant woman is the wife of Wang Xiangyang.

And I... probably have seen the Merit Brush before.

Brother Wang, this writing brush looks so good.

Of course, this is my family heirloom.

And usually, I just put it in my room because it's too precious to be used.

Guys, look at this.

I got it from Doctor Cheng.

He hid behind the murders,

cleverly punishing his own enemies.

Selling fruits was indeed a waste of his talent.

Then, how about Kong Jing? What's the connection between him and the Master of Merit Brush?

Wang Xiangyang's fruits store was destroyed during the eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Kong Jing should be the one who incited the accident.

How can this…

I broke my own rule. She's just a liar.

Death should not be her punishment.

It doesn't matter whether you have broken the rule or not.

I understand that you were protecting Chief Zhao.

I don't kill, for the sake of all humans.

If I have to kill, it's then for the sake of the whole world.

This is what you said 10,000 years ago, right?

You still remember it?

I vaguely recalled these words, but I am not sure if I said them correctly.

I will stay here with her. Help them find the Master of the Merit Brush.

How come you just died like this

after calling me "Dageda?"

Fool.

Sorry, but we will meet again.

Are you sure you want to continue with the therapy?

Your problem is special.

My advice to you is to take it slow.

Wait for the memories to come back themselves.

I can't wait anymore.

There are random pieces of memories that keep hovering over my head.

And I let a bad guy escape from my hands yesterday,

I have to remember everything. I'm very sure of it.

Fine.

Thanks, Doctor Cheng.

You don't have to say thanks. I didn't manage to help you.

But I am quite curious. Why do you have so many deep memories at such a young age?

You look like an experienced old man.

Well, I…

Da Qing! Stinky human?

Who allowed you to happily chat with him?

Why? Do you know each other?

My… My friend.

Doctor Cheng, you go back first. I'll keep in touch.

Okay, bye.

Thanks.

Wait! Let me go!

What are you doing?

Dageda, finally, you hug me.

Where are we going?

Do you remember this place?

Dageda! Can you walk slower?

Who's your Dageda? Jeez...

I was so happy to see the same kind as me. Who knew she would be so annoying.

I am tired. Can you carry me?

You are not cute.

Wait for me. Da Qing!

I hugged you, but you can't feel it anymore.

Wake up, please.

I guess I can remember it.

These are my favorite dried fish. I give them all to you.

I have given my dried fish to you!

You have my dried fish now, so why don't you wake up!

Do you want to know what happened after that?

I am not dead?

Da Qing! I really have 9 lives! Da Qing!

Da Qing!

Da Qing!

You know that I hate loneliness.

So, I only had one pursuit which is to find true love.

It wasn't easy to finally find the right guy, but a gas leak happened.

He died, but I didn't.

But, what's the use?

After a few years, I met my Mr. Right No. 2.

One day, I was hit by the flower pot in front of him.

But I didn't know I died. I then went back to find him upon getting up from the hospital.

I was so stupid. He could never accept a monster.

After that...

Thanks for leaving so early and giving me freedom.

Hello? It's done. What should we do next?

Daqian!

Let me go! Don't grab my leg!

Don't blame me, please.

You know I love you,

but you are so weird.

My heart won't be able to take it if we continue like this. Got it?

Please, let me go! Let me go!

I think... that with your bad luck in love, it's no use even if you have so many lives.

But I met you again, so my luck has changed.

That's what happened. In short, this rascal has become stuck to me.

Why not? Dageda, I will always stand by your side.

Anyway, it's good to see you alive.

Good! Good!

This is so embarrassing. Don't tell them! I have to come up with a countermeasure first.

Well, from my direct inference, it's too late.

Why are you all here?

Uh, we found a huge clue about the Merit Brush, so we had to go out and investigate.

Then, we saw you here.

Deputy Chief, may your love last forever.

What love what forever?!

You guys misinterpreted our relationship!

Well, I have to go and shed my skin.

I didn't see anything.

She and I are not in that kind of relationship!

Hey! Old Chu...

Do you know anything about the Master of Merit Brush? What does he look like?

The Master of the Merit Brush?

He has a strange speaking style and he's quite weird.

Chief Zhao, are you going out?

Help me buy some fish bones for Da Qing.

Okay.

- What are you doing? - Are you crazy?

I just changed my mind! You can't stay here!

Then, Old Li is—

- What do you want to do? - Stop there!

Girl, easy, just tell me everything.

Concern about this, concern about that! This is our biggest difference!

Da Ji, I will be angry if you do this again!

The master of the Merit Brush gave me some information,

that's why I know you are working in Special Investigations.

It's you who wronged me first.

Why is it so hard to find true love?

Nice to see you again.

In doing business, it should be goods delivered, money paid.

Since you helped me in my revenge—

Who's helping you? I was seeking revenge for myself.

Well, you two have the same purpose. That's enough.

To express my gratitude, I have something for you.

Have you ever thought of the reason for your severe amnesia?

Look at this place.

Do you remember anything?

I remember. I lost my memories here.

Old Li...

Humans are selfish.

Not only that. He's currently by your side and looking at you as a joke!

If you continue staying here, you will be hurt by them again.

I won't! They are my companions!

I am your only companion.

They are humans, and you are a Demi-human!

We are members of the most precious Tribe Cat in this world!

Follow me.

Be careful. There might be an ambush.

We got tricked.

- Yes? - Boss, I found them.

Wow, we just lost them and you locate them in the next second.

You've improved a lot.

No, no, I am referring to that guy.

Enough!

They would never think we would be just hanging around the vicinity of Special Investigations.

Can you remember?

You taught me this trick.

They are not fools! And they are my friends!

Why are you here again?

I was afraid so I hurt you at that time. But these ten years,

I kept wanting to atone for my sins.

Shameless! Ten years ago, it was your fault!

You have to pay for it!

Da Qing! Da Qing!

- Da Qing! Da Qing!- Da Qing, wake up!

- I didn't mean to.- Da Qing!

Da Qing!

Kunlun...

Da Qing, one day, you will find someone you want to follow and protect forever.

Both human and cat

will become mightier as long as they have affections in their heart.

You will understand it then.

Da Qing, are you feeling better?

Come on. I am not dead.

You are still a crybaby.

It's not cool for a cat.

You remember everything?

Yes, I have my memories back.

But sorry.

I've figured it out. Old Zhao, Old Shen, Old Chu… and this old man,

they are foolish and lazy, but they laugh for love,

cry for pain, and dedicate lives for people they are concerned about.

They are really a bunch of interesting people.

Da Qing, I am sorry…
