All language subtitles for Vauxhall _ Opel Corsa HVAC Blower Motor Not Working-en

hello guys and welcome to expose VG

today we are going to be working with

the Corsa D again so driving lovely I

took for a meter of transport test the

other day

aka MOT and it's finally passed it's all

good but the weather here in UK it's

pretty hard about the moments the wing

screws all [ __ ] up and everything and

I went to use the HVAC and I got nothing

all four speeds nothing absolutely

nothing so and as you can see we don't

have any crime it's controlling this one

so the HVAC is not controlled by any

computer or any module we have a blower

motor here on the left underneath the

dash and a resistor then you have power

going through the motor at all times and

then the resistor controlling the ground

this 20 screw here on the left first you

guys can see it they have a little tab

try not to get front of the camera and

put pop here

and then just bend the spine a little

bit it comes out to be directing the

floor there down to your feet then

there's this plastic popper that we have

to remove and then you should come off

now we have the motor itself so it's

held by three five and a half meal screw

or bolt what are the back there and here

we have powering in ground going to the

motor and as you can see here is not

good sight there's a lot of rust on that

that bolts already seems a little bit

wet too

and the resistor just back here okay so

my finger first I'm going to do I'm just

gonna put it on and bang this motor to

see what happens

my suggestion is on poor setting not

open the maximum has any problem with

resistor should work

well I heard a little bit going can you

hear that

number four waters stray another setting

here definitely started really generally

if the resistor fails it would work on

number four so this point here it's not

working even on number four but I did

here going I believe will have a problem

in the motor

you have a problem the motor there

this removes there the connector for the

motor and I will see we check if I have

any power because I think I think we

have a problem the motor probably the

pod started glowing again

it's if we've got 12 volts here or

battery voltage

we are let's speed number one

there you go battery voltage speed

number two you should have all 14th

battery voltage on for all four speeds

so we do have power going to the motor I

believe it I mean this is a is a

confirmation that we don't have a

problem resistor you know because they

rush sometimes they break and they stop

working and then only number four works

but this one you get battery voltage in

every single speed so we can remove I'll

remove the resistor as well and sure

right guys so I decided to low test this

circuits just in case the resistor is

not able to to cope with current

offering this politics is a hate seven

of things four and a half of something

like that so it speed number one you can

see nice and aim speed number two

brighter speed number three even

brighter and then number four which is

is the maximum in this case so is able

to show light up this ball so I'm pretty

happy that the resistors is fine so

let's remove this motor

he's actually broken

right so the blonde water is out and

it's straight away I'm showing sign here

oh please

there you go can you see the brushes and

you can see the commutator how dirty

that is should be nice and shiny like a

copper color you see how dirty that is

so it's not making like a good contact

all the way around it's terrible

state to the brush it doesn't seem that

brilliant but I mean sure you just want

more things so obviously the brushes in

that the commutators not making a good

contact that's why the water is not

runny let me just show you one more test

here basically what I'm going to do are

gonna connect my power or ground one of

the pins okay and there my test light

disconnected the other side so when I

touch the other side of my test light

should light up if I've got it in any

position we're gonna leave in position

before but it should light up and in

position really see that okay now I'm

gonna touch the other end the other pin

I hope you can see that so we've got

power going across but when you turn let

me turn the test light a little bit but

when you turn the fan can you see the

light flickering

so obviously is not able to maintain

contact with the motor see how James it

doesn't seem to have any open segments

on a motor but it's just about contact

so I'm gonna take it apart I'm gonna

take it apart to bow to the back and

then see if you clean out the the

commutator and see the state of the

brushes

why should I cleaned out the

communicator with some sandpaper as you

can see is a lot better to push all the

way across

so it's nice and clean right so I just

test them all to this old battery that I

have here and test probe and simple to

the motor and they didn't work so I

looked a little bit further to the

brushes and as you can see here

remember the RUS up here I haven't

cleaned it totally proper the outer side

but obviously the motor seats like this

and water has been dripping down through

this brush here and then heating the

screw obviously and that brush was stuck

and then what I did the other brush the

other side is nice and freely so you

have the same thing the other side let

me see you down here all I did was pull

this little spring there's a little

spring here the push push the brush down

so pull they spring up then I clean with

some contact cleaner and wd-40 it's

gonna be hard to do what it is at the

moment but I put the spring up and

obviously clean where the brush we go so

he moves nicely freely now as you can

see and that was and so it wasn't

pushing e to the the commutator so I'm

gonna go ahead and test the but the

lamont and actually why so I've gotta

give grounds to all of the pins it

doesn't matter which pin you you connect

to and then 12 volts here

and that's it working V right so just to

go further haven't got any open in this

motor I gonna do the test life test

again

so got one side of the battery going to

one of the pins it doesn't really matter

which pin again it's connect to and then

the test lights to the other pin you see

lights up I'm actually gonna connect the

hick is gonna be easier for me to hold

and show you let's see if I can put it

back a little bit and then we're gonna

spin the motor Boop and as you can see

there's no flickering anymore there's no

shot there's no open in the motor so I

think we are ready to put everything

back put it back in the car and then I

will show a little bit about the the

resistor right so the motor is fitted

barking I took out the the resistor from

here I just want to talk a little bit

about the resistor obviously there is a

reason why it lives inside that the HVAC

system here obviously the resistor gets

hot I is one of the reasons why it lives

there and the motor is fitted Joaquin

look at the two why has the powers of

grounds you can see that brown wire is

the same brown wire that we have here

and that is one of the reason why when

this is the resistor here when the

resistor fails you only get number four

speed obviously the resistor is

disconnected at a moment so when you get

to the number four

because a straight connection to the

motor and also the speed of one two and

three uses that the same Brown wire to

obviously give ground to the motor how

the resistor works pretty simple so you

have a thermal fuse at the top here just

in case it gets too hot and then four

pins and the fourth pin here is our

Brown wire which is providing ground to

the motor and then you're gonna have a

connection between speed 1 2 and 3 or

pin pin 1 2 & 3 to the fourth pin which

will provide ground to the motor so

being one we have the the highest amount

of resistance and the biggest voltage

drop between pin 1 and 4 obviously

making the motor speed slow and then

gradually is gonna go down so P number 2

speed C

one point two arms or less less voltage

drop so the phone will spin faster and

then number three 0.7 0.6 so less

resistance and obviously less voltage

drops or number three the phone we spin

even faster and then number four would

be a straight connection to you to the

to the motor which is our Brown wire

which as he could see you don't really

need the resistor to make it work or

number four so that's why when it fails

you have number four speed and generally

what phase with this will be either the

fuse at the top here or you see all this

green protective layer

sometimes it deteriorates and obviously

the the wires a parish and and break so

you know you're not gonna have any

connection between clean one two or

three through this number four so that's

how they fail right so the motors back

the resistor is back now we're going to

check Oh for speed see if it works

number one Oh pick you hear it

okay so that's number one working number

two you can definitely hear that number

three

number four that always gonna work would

be little bit out

resist a pretty simple system hope works

for a little bit longer and finally I

think this is the last video hopefully

this is the last video for the Costa G I

think what caused the problem with that

blue motor is the same issue that we had

with altering grass in a see you on that

side managed to get to the motor and

froze the brush solid in place so it

wouldn't move so the spring wouldn't

push the brush down and it obviously was

all dirty it's all cleaned up now it is
