"María de mi corazón" is part
of the Mexican cinema preservation project

carried out by the Cineteca Nacional.
This film was restored by

the institution's Digital
Restoration Laboratory from

the 16mm acetate negative
(separated into two tracks)

and preserved in its vaults.
The credits were sourced

from a 35mm positive print on acetate,
as they were not present in the original negative.

The image was digitally restored,
preserving the original qualities of the film stock

and the aesthetic typical of
an independent 16mm production.

Over 170,000 frames were restored;
however, some scenes

still show scratches that could
not be removed,

since all available film elements
exhibited the same damage.

The audio was restored from
a composite 35mm positive print,

with missing sections supplemented
using the optical sound negative.

Jaime Humberto Hermosillo,
the film’s director,

who closely followed the
entire restoration process.
