What I mean is it's a dead heat.

votes apiece.

It's a tie.

Now, all we need
is one vote to break

that tie and decide the winner.

I never would have caught it
if that mustache hadn't been put

on Cosgrove's face
on that poster.

I should start, uh, telling you

told me a few minutes ago

that Mr. Cosgrove was a crook.

He's been in and out
of at least a dozen jails

and he's now wanted
in three states.

But even if he was not wanted

he could not run
for state senator

because according to the law

a man who has served time
cannot hold public office.

Your sheriff here
is a very thorough lawman.

'Because after he found
about Cosgrove'

'he thought it was only fair
to check up on me.'

So, he sent out
a few telegrams and..

Well, he discovered
that when I was a very young man

'you all know how kids are'

'he discovered
that I had been involved'

'in a minor scrape.'

Minor scrape as a kid?

As I said,
it didn't amount to anything

but according
to the letter of the law

it makes it illegal
for me to hold public office.

So, I voted for the man
who should really have been your

state senator anyway.
