The name of my collection is "Reminiscence"

And it's inspired by the memories of my life in Columbia.

So I want the skin really soft,

but the eyes, I want, like, smoky eyes

with, like, orange kind of red.

It's really important to have a very loud makeup in the eyes

because all the clothes is really soft.

- Now this Colossal mascara does give the effect of false lashes.

- That is what I was gonna say. - I know. Right?

- The whole concept is, like, kind of galactic glamour.

- So I'll start off with the Super Stay Foundation.

How about, like, a smoky eye? - Yeah.

- With maybe, like, a bit of texture?

- So good. - The collection is, like,

rococo meets cyber "Clueless" '90s vibe.

- Nice. - So because the outfits

are so extra, I don't think like a crazy statement...

into "Matrix" style angular eyeliner. Like, yeah.

- I feel like that is very extra.

because when I built it, I kinda had her in mind,

and I thought I got her measurements right

but either she's lost weight or I am just clueless.

The hips are right. Just the top and the waist.

The amount of work to resize a corseted gown

is pretty insane because you have to, like,

pull all the bones out, take in the dress,

put the zipper back into it.

And then you can go in, like, this much more here.

You know, the truth is that your huge moment of success,

you know, when everybody sees you as a great success,

maybe you didn't feel like that at that moment.

So that's why...your real shelter is inside yourself.

Your strength is inside yourself.

is the most important part of my collection.

It's my opening gown, so honestly, the way I see it,

this dress has to be perfect, and everything else can suffer

for the perfection of this dress.

I came into this competition with one thing in mind--

to get to the finale.

I've been known in this competition

to do a lot of corsetry.

- One of your best looks I have seen yet, Garo.

- To walk the fine line of costume and fashion.

- You're technically very good,

but at some point, you really need to step up.

- I love to push the limits.

- You took us to another galaxy. I just didn't think the judges

were going to understand my take on fashion.

- This is the most elegant piece that we've seen from you.

- Garo had such a comeback.

- You are the winner of this challenge.

- I beat out 13 other designers to get my spot,

and I am so stoked to show the world what I got.

The night before the show is always stressful.

It will be hard to sleep.

It's not just that you're showing your collection,

but it's also that you're here in this environment.

I was feeling at the beginning of this competition

really insecure because coming from Colombia,

and I'm cleaning houses,

you don't feel that you're gonna have what it takes

to make it to the end.

- But when you win, I guess it gives you the confidence

to know that what you're doing is something that people like.

- Oh! - Oh!

- Sebastian, put the prize on a ticket and get it out there.

- Through all the competition, I have a hard time

with my stories behind my designs.

The walls are yellow. The floors are purple.

- Why? - I don't know.

I feel my collection finally have a story.

The Sebastian that is here right now--

he knows more about himself as a designer,

and he's a little bit more secure about what he's doing.

So wait, this is the runway.

So people are gonna be like... - Exactly.

- I've spent the majority of my career

fitting into boxes other people gave me.

I came into this competition having a creative vision

but not feeling sure of it. - You're very talented, darling.

- Are you sure? - I know you can do it.

- [ scoffs ] I'm not sure.

But seeing my ideas come to life

and seeing other people like them

has been the biggest boost of confidence.

- Thisis you.

Quirky, playful, fun.

- I'm seeing a woman who came in so unsure of herself,

- Even though I have the most wins,

as the competition progressed,

I've had a harder and harder time holding on.

It was the execution that fell short.

The pressure of the competition really got to me.

- But having time away has helped me get back to my A-game.

My finale collection is 100% who I am.

It's so unbelievable. Not many people even get this chance.

and tears into this thing.

All of that work has paid off.

The pants are how I wanted them.

My models were turning it out.

- Seeing my models in my clothing

and seeing my dreams come to life

and seeing this all just move and flow,

I'm so surprised by her, because I had so thought

she was gonna wear some totally different.

Yeah. - Thank God I made ya.

I really love how all of my looks turned out.

I feel like I definitely created a fashion revolution

with my Cyber Revolution collection.

- I absolutely loved the show.

The "Project Runway" finale was amazing.

- I could be at New York Fashion Week.

I mean, the quality of the clothes,

the designs, the cuts.

[ cheering ] - Oh, my God!

- Sebastian--it started out so playful,

and it just got more and more sophisticated as it went on.

- Of course I recognize him. - [ laughs ]

- Oh, my God. Garo with those tight cinched corsets?

- Garo came and snatched all those waists,

so I'm happy about that.

- Baby, they let you come back here? Mmm!

[ speaks indistinctly ]

- Hester's collection is, like, in your face,

and I love the fact that Hester's not afraid

to showcase who she really is as a designer.

- I don't think I have a favorite collection.

I think I have favorite pieces from each collection.

- That was exciting! Ah! This was amazing.

- Congratulations. You three earned your way

to this point, and now one of you will be the winner,

taking home a quarter of a million dollars,

a feature in "ELLE" Magazine, $50,000

to set up your own design studio,

a capsule collection from Nineteenth Amendment,

and a career-changing mentorship from the CFDA.

[ sighs ] All right. Sebastian, let's start with you.

- Sebastian, what I love about particularly this dress

is that it's taking something that is artisanal

and moving it to high fashion.

- So every piece is cut with lasers,

and then I started weaving it by hand

one by one by one.

It took me almost, like, three weeks and a half

to be able to complete this.

- It looked effortless. - Beautiful.

- Thank you. Thank you. - All of your pieces--

they had the yin and the yang.

They were very casual, very streetwear,

and then extremely refined.

And the how about the wrap dress with layers?

That was beautiful. - Oh, thank you so much.

- And those track pants with the leather

in the side seam, I thought was a great detail.

So many pieces of your collection felt like

so many aspects of you.

- And honestly, I could see many, many women

wearing your collection-- incredibly, incredibly chic.

I felt, if I'm being critical about it,

the orange look in the beginning

was probably not the best opening look.

- That--I would have never opened with that first look.

- Sebastian, I love this piece.

I think it is statuesque, refined.

I wanna get married in that on a beach.

- Wow. - The bottom line--

your potential is exponential.

- For real. - Thank you. Thank you.

- Your collection was extra for sure.

- The Marie Antoinette look--

it will catch the eyes of all the editors.

- It did really excite me when she came out,

because I thought, like,

to me, it's "Matrix," Marie Antoinette, "Clueless,"

and I'm gonna love every second of it.

But then the second one, I was like,

oh, well, was that it? - It was a little disconnect

between the first and the second look in your collection,

because you opened with a bang,

but if you are going to commit to that opening look,

you better have a way to follow through with that.

But the skill that you have for accessories is unparalleled.

The over-the-knee boots in red patent

killed me with the teddy bear.

That little bomber jacket with the matching tennis shoe,

it drove me crazy.

- I think you are really skilled as a stylist.

- Yeah. - But more than that, Hester,

you are a vibe. You sent a vibe down that runway.

It all came through in this collection,

and for that, I applaud you. - Thank you.

- I wanna know more about these prints.

- Print design is my love,

and I just love telling a story with print.

- I thought the light blue, airy printed chiffon

was super, super successful.

What didn't work for me was what I'm calling

the '90s gymnastics print.

- I actually had initially created the whole collection

in just the light blues, and I felt like it wasn't

showing the punk rock side of me enough,

so I kind of threw that in to spice it up.

- It almost felt like two different collections...

- Yeah.

- ...that you tried to... mesh together.

- I disagree. I disagree.

She is this young woman with both anger and passion

and love, and you could see it.

It's your heart and your colors,

and then the humor-- the humor of it all.

It really says, "[bleep] you."

- I like to cause trouble.

- And that's what I love.

If you don't win, you can work for me.

Garo, when you said a detour through your cosmic mind,

I felt like you took us there,

and there are a lot of pieces here

that are very wearable.

There's one trench that I was drooling over.

That looked so chic, so expensive.

- My favorite look in the collection by far

was this white look, that, like, intergalactic cropped halter--

that's Garo getting it right.

Talk to us about some of the fabric choices that you made.

What is this fabric we're looking at?

The iridescence. - It's like a Viscose Lurex.

In one direction, it's black. In another direction,

it catches color. - It's very sexy.

The waist is definitely your obsession.

There's a little bit

of Thierry Mugler, you know, clearly.

And this is beautiful. - Thank you.

- Garo, you certainly know how to dress a woman

to make a statement.

That little gray dress with the green leather piping--

there's an effortless dress that feels very modern,

which I would have wanted to see more.

- What happened to the beaded dress, bro?

- When I did my lineup, it just didn't fit visually.

- [ scoffs ] We loved that beaded dress.

- We were longing for it like a cousin

we see once every summer.

Nina and I just really were very sad about it.

The white pant-- very well-constructed.

I did write, "Why the black zipper?" really big right here.

Again, on Kate's dress,

why the flopping black zipper in the back?

- That one in particular wasn't constructed

with the flawless technique that I've seen you

put in front of us before.

- I had to take it in a bunch in the back,

and I had also the corsetry on the inside,

rework the wiring of the neckline.

- Did you run out of time? - I did, actually.

- Yeah. - I would have loved to see

the tailoring a little bit tighter, more refined.

But you're edgy. You are futuristic.

The whole world saw what you are capable of,

and you should feel really, really good about that.

- Thank you.

- Designers, you have not made this easy on us.

We have a lot to discuss.

You can all leave the runway,

and we will call you back when we know the winner.

I think he got caught in the weeds

of the fabrics and the shine and missed the bigger picture.

- There was a lack of focus. The zipper were not passable.

- I think his collection flowed like an arrow.

There was a lot of work that you saw

from a distance and from up close.

It has to be a tight rope between art and commerce.

- Mm-hmm. - Yep.

- He walks that rope splendidly. - Yeah.

- I mean, he has a clear idea of where he's going,

back to Colombia, making the artisan works,

the open weave leather.

He has a flawless presentation.

- He just knows how to make clothes in a way

that would rival any person showing at Fashion Week.

- I agree. - I guarantee you.

- Hester Sunshine has a very strong identity.

The way she wears her designs is really clever,

and I think there's a new generation that is as interested

in the persona... - That's true. That's true.

- ...behind the fashion as they are the fashion itself.

There's something about her that right now

feels really relevant. - Yeah.

- We do need innovators, designers that move it forward

and are so creative.

She can do the hair, she can do the accessories,

she can have the outfit.

It is really unstoppable creativity.

- There is an enormous amount of talent there.

I could sell her in a minute.

- This is a tough decision.

Who will be the winner of "Project Runway"?

They're both very good at making clothes.

They're two very different aesthetics.

But at the end of the day, you can be trendy,

you can be cool,

but women always wanna feel beautiful and confident,

as he nails it.

- His clothes could leave this runway...

- For sure.

- And go immediately into our closets.

- Hester has a lot of raw talent.

And we have seen consistently she has wowed us.
